Absolutely terrible customer service! Old Male waiter was so uninterested. I had to ask to order when only 4 people in the restaurant. No questions on how the food was. No thanks for payment. Everything seems like such an effort to him. Don’t work in this industry if you can’t communicate with people. I was genuinely shocked to how rude he was. Food was actually good. Would not recommend to anyone.

Food good however, the customer service absolutely diabolical. We went for my birthday meal this Saturday evening. The man serving was extremely disinterested and the other girl looked like she did not want to be there. We had to wait ages to order our food. No apologies after it came after another long wait. The man did not ask if we would like coffee or desert. Having spent alot of money. He seemed to have no interest at all in making our experience good. Advice to you...take a holiday and get some new staff...will not be returning and not recommending to anyone.

We eat out at Gossip regularly and think the food is excellent. Pizza is amazing and we particularly enjoy the fried courgette sticks and the dumplings as a starter. Unbelievable! Your website states PennHill Gossip is open for lunch Thursday-Sunday so I booked a table for Thursday and got a confirmation email. Fine, I thought. Then on the Wednesday when I phoned to confirm, I was told Penn Hill was not open for lunch on any day!!! Then, would you believe it, on the Friday I received an email thanking me for my visit (?) and asking me for feedback?!?! What kind of incompetence it that? You do not deserve any clientele if that is how you treat customers. I will never set foot in any Gossip in the future and and will be telling all my friends to avoid your establishments. Ordered a pasta with Aubergine, you needed a magnifying glass to see the tiny bits of aubergine, just stingy. The pasta wasn't home made but the ordinary dried supermarket stuff. Partner ordered gnocci which was so rich you couldn't eat it. If you don't want pizza or pasta you are stuck as there's nothing else. Although i had pre booked table for 2, we were put right next to the bar. It was cold, i sat with my coat on. It was noisy, couldn't hear what Partner was saying. Expensive for what it is, I wouldn't go again.

We were the first customers of the evening but received the most basic service - unwelcoming and curt. When ordering, I asked for the mussels starter, and was rebuked with just, "no mussels". At no point were we asked if we wanted anything else or if the food was to our liking. We even had to get up to ask for a side plate to put salad on from the large portion we ordered. However, when a family who were obviously regulars came in, they received a friendly jovial welcome. At those prices and with such an attitude, we certainly will not become regulars. Finally, there was rather grating fast electronic music playing at an intrusive volume. It didn't seem appropriate to this kind of restaurant.

An unexpected pleasure being taken by friends to Gossip in Poole. A loquacious and lively host/owner explained the process and the style of food (given his non Italian origins) and off we set to order. He made one or two helpful suggestions and then the plates began to arrive and a host of flavours and taste bud surprises. The meal gave an opportunity to try flavours and one member - a vegetarian found he had more options than in a conventional restaurant. I we lived in Poole we'd be there frequently but certainly on our next visit!

Such great pizza and authentic Italian food - (and I’ve lived in Italy and now live in London - so have eaten my fair share over the years!) and lovely warm service at Gossip. The burrata mozeralla salads are awesome - the pizza’s are traditional thin crust with perfect amounts of topping - juicy and crispy all at once - top notch! We had a large family group of 9 with two young children and we all ate at the same time and had very attentive service to make it a lovely family evening - Italian style! Quality food fairly priced - get yourself to Gossip Penn Hill if you’re in and around the area! Thanks 🙏🏼!!

Popped in very very busy but given a table by the window I barely squeezed in and had to apologise to the next diner. Tables are crammed in far too many and the noise level was excruciating loud. If you want to chat and talk forget it. I did not find it a finding experience it was chaotic. No vegan cheese for a pizza so just opted for bruschetta of three pieces. My partner had the bolognese devoid of any meat and small portion. £14 to boot. We had four beers one starter and one bolognese main meal. Doubt we will return but the place was absolutely packed so we won’t be missed. Far to many people packed into this restaurant. The waiters were charming and a nice serving jovial manner.

Food was very disappointing. Tapas was acceptable but very basic. All four of us had pizza which were almost inedible. Very soggy. Three of us left almost all of the meal. Waitress asked if all was ok when clearing the table and we pointed out the issue but, she just said sorry and left. I went to the bar to pay mentioning the issue again and the staff just said no one else complains and the bill is 172 please! It was a special occasion so I did want to make a scene but, won’t return. Very unhappy customers. My son and partner live in Ashley Cross so local custom lost. Despite it being a Saturday night there were very few customers and no atmosphere. Very sad.

Myself, wife and daughter went out to celebrate my wife’s birthday last night at Gossip, Penn Hill. I’ve never been, even though have lived locally for over a decade! Boy have I been missing out on some amazing Italian food! The cicchetti (tapas style sharing dishes) meant you could sample all your favourite dishes in one meal… so we had calamari, veal, oven baked aubergine with cheese and sauce (amazing), mussels etc and my kid had pizza. The wine was good quality not seen in the supermarkets and the service from the fabulous Maddy was really attentive, polite and friendly, you can’t ask for more than that really. They even heard us talking about my wife’s birthday and gave her a surprise celebration! Service really makes a place and makes you want to come back and recommend to others. Recently we had poor service in a certain local marina café restaurant and have decided to venture to new places, this one is a gem! Penn Hill is decent and has a lot more potential too.

Great evening. Came by Gossip purely by chance having struggled to find anything we fancied and so pleased we did. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with mixed clientele from us oldies to youngsters seemingly having a great time. The waitress was extremely attentive, polite and professional. As for the menu I struggled between 3 of the main dishes or pretty much all of the tapa’s plates. My wife and I opted for the tapas and enjoyed every mouthful. Reasonably priced as was the beer snd wine. The result a great evening out, just what we wanted and if we are ever back that way again I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Thank you.

I booked to go here for dinner for my partner’s birthday as he loves Italian food & it did not disappoint! Greeted and seated by a friendly waitress who looked after us so well all evening.. (sadly I didn’t catch her name but a blonde lady with a lovely smile working 5/4. We had 5 small plates between the 2 of us and every single one of them was delicious, fresh and authentically Italian! I would particularly recommend the Buratta Prosciutto… so creamy and such a generous portion size. We had originally discussed sharing a pizza after our small plates but there was no way we could have fitted anything else in after the sharers. We decided to have a small break between main and dessert and we felt able to sit and chat, enjoy the atmosphere and our drinks without being rushed or pestered. Like the main courses, the desserts were totally worth the wait (and deliberation)!! I had the Gnocci with Nutella and my partner had an affogato which was gladly made upon request without an issue. All in all, a wonderful visit, lovely food & friendly staff and fantastic value for money. Thank you, we can’t wait to come back again soon & will recommend to family & friends looking to enjoy some scrumptious Italian cuisine!

A dining experience I did not enjoy. Very kind and apologetic staff, but their problem was, they were short staffed. So, we couldn’t decide what to cook for dinner so decided to just head here and give it a try and pasta / pizza was appealing to us, upon entering we were greeted warmly and asked if we had ever been there before, we hadn’t, and the gentleman said he thought so as he hadn’t seen us before, this made us feel so comfortable instantly as it gave a sense that they get a lot of regulars, so it must be good, and yes… it was more than good! The décor is modern yet rustic and comforting with great music playing, the ambience was spot on. Upon being presented with menus everything was explained to us and we were given advice on the draft beer available and a wine list. To start we ordered a large glass of Exhibition Rosé – it was crisp and fresh with just the right level of acidity and my fiancé had a pint of San Miguel, you can’t go wrong there, as well as Calamari Fritti and the olives & bread board, both were very tasty, light batter on the calamari and a good quality balsamic with the bread. For mains my fiancé had Spaghetti Carbonara, with an egg yolk on top, and I had a Prosciutto E Fungi pizza – both were full of flavour, lots of topping on the pizza and plentiful pancetta in the pasta, the addition of a mini pizza wheel to help cut was a great touch and I added chilli oil, which from the look of it was made in-house and had a subtle warmth to it. Time for dessert, all of which are homemade… Chocolate Almond Cake with a Brandy Sauce and Tiramisu, we were eating Italian after all… both were delicious, you could tell they were homemade, portions were big and full of flavour, the Tiramisu was some of the best I’ve had, all washed down with a double espresso each… yum. Service was spot on, attentive and warm but not overbearing in any way and everything was well priced. Service was not added to the final bill and I felt awful as there was no option on the card machine to add gratuity and I don’t carry cash, if the owners / staff are reading this, I’m sorry! I will be making up for this when we return, which will be soon!

Reported to the food standard of the agency As they gave non-gluten-free food to a person with coeliac disease. The restaurant was told three times that gluten-free food was needed, once upon online booking, once upon a telephone call that day, and once when ordering food. The menu had gluten-free options available yet they still failed to bring out gluten-free food and admitted it was normal food after the person with coeliac disease had eaten it. They just said oh sorry the waiter should’ve told you we do not do gluten-free bread, yet the starter was still brought out with bread and they did not inform that it was normal bread containing gluten. I have also reported the restaurant to the Bournemouth Echo. They have admitted and knowingly cause someone to become considerably ill and sick and this restaurant is an absolute disgrace, the staff are incompetent, and I do not recommend anybody with any dietary requirements goes there because you are clearly not safe. This restaurant needs to be fully investigated and they don’t even seem to care about the damage they have caused giving gluten containing food to a person with coeliac disease. This restaurant is an absolute joke and If it was up to me should be shut down.

This is the second time we have eaten here, had an early supper. Service much improved from our last visit. We opted for the shared small plates. Food was good the only criticism was the tomatoe sauce, 3 dishes had the same tomatoe sauce and it has no depth of flavour so slightly disappointed and the cheesecake we shared for dessert had a soggy base and a grainy texture. Overall it was nice.

We have visited Gossip in Westbourne but unfortunately it was fully booked. We have eaten there before and it was really good, so we figured the sister restaurant in Penn Hill would be the same. Unfortunately it was not a very good experience from the start. We arrived and service was slow, under staffed, but eventually asked for drinks. They have beer on draft so we asked for a pint only to be told they didn’t have any due to no delivery but they did have bottled Peroni which always work out more expensive. We asked for a coke, which we go along with the fact it was the last bottle of coke and they didn’t have anymore. We ordered a bottle on wine, which we got and was quite nice but the waitress over poured and filled both glasses over half full, and she did acknowledge that she had over poured and apologised. We had to wait some time for someone to take our order. My son ordered a pizza with extra jalapeño. Another pizza which clearly started ‘ Diavaolo ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... £12.95 Spicy Italian sausage and fresh chillies . The pizza with the extra jalapeño didn’t have any and the Diavola pizza was just a pepperoni pizza with chilli oil over the top. We pointed out what the menu specified only to be told they didn’t have any sausage but could add something else, we opted for some chicken. Lastly, the pizza that didn’t have any jalapeño on, had a chilli on it. My son, who is 22 and likes spice, decided to take a small bite out of it only for it to be so hot that his tongue became numb and he felt really unwell. I pointed out that as this was a family restaurant with lots of children, they should not be putting chillies that ferocious on a pizza. My son is a grown man, imagine if a child had bitten into it!!! I was told that chillies are a gamble as you don’t know what you are going to get….. well let’s hope they don’t take that gamble and someone bites into one and are allergic. Will not be returning

It’s walking distance for us, so ideal if you want a glass of wine. Took our foodie god daughter. Shared the meat platter starter and fought each other over the calamari. The pizzas were fab - but we could have easily shared two between three (very hungry) people! Lovely service. Buzzy informal and friendly vibe. We will definitely be back

I have been here few days ago. I have started my dinner with some lobster and crab arancini, which they were very tasty. Later I took a pizza, which was the best I could choose. The consistency of the dough was very soft, cooked spot on. The quality and the freshness of the ingredients was amazing. Well done👏👏

We visited on Friday with our daughter who’s 11. We had the tapas option so a selection of smaller plates to share. It was all absolutely delicious, perfect amount for the 3 of us. Puddings where huge, so I took half of mine home with me to enjoy the next day. Wine & beer were good and plenty of soft drink options. The service was excellent, one waiter in particular was really friendly making us feel welcomed. We’ll definitely be back, so nice to have a local restaurant with good food and atmosphere within walking distance.

it is a ripoff, I had the dough balls in blankets and you only get 3 and a bit of sauce in a little pot, I had the lasagna after and you may aswell call it soup because it was more sauce than anything else no meat what so ever and 2 bits of pasta so no layers.

We really enjoyed our pizza and salad! Our server was so friendly. The music playing created a lovely Italian ambiance, as well as the great art work.

Disappointing. Reading the other reviews on this restaurant, we must have just gone on an off night. The starters were incredible I have to say but that was all that was good about the meal. Absolutely gutted with the main course as we were looking forward to an authentic crispy pizza base. Unfortunately it was really doughy, good taste just inedible base. Ordered new forest ice cream for dessert not convinced. It may have been but could have possibly been in the freezer for a few years. Bit of a shame. We’d like to go back as this is a local restaurant, hopefully they were just having an off night.

Really enjoyed dinner here. All the dishes come in tapas sizes so we mixed it up and shared lots of food. Fab happy hour. Lovely staff who really looked after us. Live music was on in the bar and by the time we left it was packed with people having fun. Best expresso martini I've had for ages. Party atmosphere. Great place.

Went on a Thursday, around 5pm. Despite not online booking, and the restaurant having reduced capacity due to the virus, happy to squeeze us in. Quick, friendly service, drinks arrived really quickly, and food shortly afterwards. Quality was good - food tasty, hot and well presented. Portions seemed generous. We really enjoyed the four main courses we ordered, ribs, meatballs, prawn pasta and chicken carbonara Would visit again.
