Bbq meat platter was delicious that I shared with my son. The wife & daughter equally enjoyed a hot & spicy sharing platter

An absolute joke. I sat and watched group after group being turned away at the door because they hadn't booked a table, even though there were loads of empty areas and tables. The staff seem to run this place like a posh restaraunt instead of what it should be, a cheap and cheerful run of the mill chain pub. A perfect example of why pubs should not have reserved bookings.

Busy lively pub with great food and a selection of beverages at a reasonable price. Prompt friendly service worth a visit

Due to work, a crew of us have basically moved in here. The food is fantastic ALMOST every single time. The value is incredible. The service is friendly. Highlights? The XL mixed grill, the Ultimate Feast combo, the Jamaican Stew, Garlic mushroom starter, Lamb Kofta flatbreads, Chicken wings, all of the desserts and accompaniments. Issues? Tandoori burger is not as succulent as you'd expect. The ribs don't fall off the bone. The Carolina reaper sauce is like Franks, not screaming hot. And the steaks.... While they are great value, on their own or in a mixed combo, it always seems overdone. I'm not blaming the chef, I reckon it's the sizzler plates, continuing to cook them when they should be resting. But it's a genuinely fantastic, welcoming place. 9/10 easy. Best place I've stayed for work.

Food wasn't up to the standard we expected and we had quite a wait the beef rib was so hard your knife couldn't cut it, the pie pastry was so well cooked it was difficult to cut. The staff were friendly and done their best but ot was evident that they were short staffed

Spur of the moment visit while travelling. Used on a Sunday afternoon. The beef rib was delightful and excellent value for money. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Not to far from M6 junction 44 either. 5min drive. Only negative was the coffee machine was not working. (Was informed a new one is on the way). Other than that - couldn’t fault it.

Food, staff and atmosphere was brilliant and the staff couldn't of done more to make my son's birthday special 🎉. We had a lovely meal and couldn't of asked for anything else, brilliant night with first class service and food. Yummy ♥️

My husband and I were here for dinner on Christmas eve. A great atmosphere and a lovely meal. I enjoyed the nut roast and the Christmas pudding. My husband Mark had the traditional Christmas dinner and then the sticky toffee pudding which he loved. We'll definitely be back here again and would recommend to anyone.

Long waiting time, despite prior booking, I ordered a medium well steak and got it rare, but the meat was stringy, the knives were dull and it was impossible to cut the steak, the service was unprofessional, the waiters were probably straight from the street, we waited about 40 minutes for dessert. at a dirty table full of empty dishes after the main course, no interest from the staff, only after the intervention we were served, I do not recommend

Highly recommend this lovely place. All the staff were hospitable and attentive, especially Kerry who oversaw our booking for Blesma the Limbless Veterans, nothing was too much trouble, so accommodating, considerate, professional and caring. Food extremely poor meals arrived and fries were cold and the lamb kofta were more than poor a huge flat bread with 3 gem lettuce leaves and Luke warm tough kofta , the other two meals were fish and chips didn't look freshly made and fish was tough in places ,over all I wouldn't choose to eat here again extremely disappointed as have had good enough meals on the past...staff offered a complementary drink or sweet but unfortunately that wasn't a choice after such a poor meal we just wanted to leave i don't think offering a refund for £1.50 for a potion of fries was acceptable all in all not a place i would now recommend or re visit.

Would 100% recommend this place been coming since I was a kid & the food is fairly priced & good quality. Big shout out to Tasha who went above and beyond for us & made sure our table was well kept & we were taken care of! Atmosphere is relaxed no booming music just a low level of people chatting amongst each other. Would definitely come here again!

Really lovely warm atmosphere. Stayed in the premier inn so ate at the Gosling bridge for an evening meal and breakfast . Food was great and staff super lovely. Just want to say a huge thank you to the staff working tonight 23/11/2024 our table of 7 was booked for 3pm for my babies 1st birthday and I cannot fault them. We went Friday lunchtime, it was quiet, friendly, and even as it got busier still didn't feel crowded or overly noisy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great.

Absolutely love coming in to the Gosling for my breakfast on a weekend always served with a smile from Barbara, Beth and Jamie and I can never fault the breakfasts in the gosling and the drink is tremendous when I’ve came in on an afternoon served by Kerry and staff. Went here a few weeks ago with my husband and his family. Jamie who served us all was lovely, nothing was too much trouble for him, we will definitely go back. Food was tasty with good sized portions, and there was plenty of parking.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. What a bunch of nasty staff this place has. There was one lady who served our breckfast who was decent but the two men and older lady WOW. I know this is a chain of green kings pubs but they normally are fine and very child friendly. Now we did travel In a large group of 19 and 7 of these were boys aged 8 & 9 what is I assume why anything we asked for was a massive problem. We arrived at 5.15pm in the restaurant hoping to get some food it was very busy what’s unstable but there was a large table booked at 7.45pm I asked if we could use it for 1 hour the 1st lady said yes then someone come over and put a sign on saying it was booked out for 15 mins time. So we went else where to eat (shoutout to the coach & horses for accommodating 19 of us within 15 mins! ) we arrived back to the bridge inn and there was still no one sat on the large table at 8.15pm we asked if we could sit and have a drink they said no we give 1 hour for them to turn up (you defo don’t it’s 15mins in any green kings!) they just didn’t want us there because we had 7 children but it’s ok for every man in there on drugs yeah? We found a Small table in the corner where some of us stayed for a drink and while the bar staff made hand gestures to our children no one still turned up to the large table they still wouldn’t give us. We stayed in the premier inn ajoining to the pub so we had booked breakfast prior food was good but a older lady screaming at the kids saying they were going to break the glass in a tall door for what trying to open it? They didn’t know it was closed as they was using it the evening before to get out, I get 7 boys are hard work but your staff have no right to speak to these children with such rudeness any issues you speak to an adult parent and we decide how we speak to them, not scream at them for trying to go outside. Yes there hard work but there boys age 8&9 maybe you shouldn’t allow children at all if it’s such an issue!

The service is very slow and the staff are less personable. The bar is in need of an update. Some of the seating is filthy and stained and the tables are not wiped down on a regular basis. There is a very limited choice if vegetarian food. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Visited Carlisle to touch base with friends and partners in Carlisle. We stayed at the Premier Inn and always had breakfast at the Gosling Bridge Inn. Since we are from the Philippines, what better way to wake up to a cold morning than to be welcomed with cheerful and friendly staff who always served with a smile that compensated the cold weather outside.

We went for our tea food was very poor steak was ment to be med but came out rare no not happy guy at the bar was rude to us wont be back .. used to be good place to eat

It was so busy and this is the 3rd time I have been again and tbh 2 out of three have been bad my toddlers mash was frozen the lady serving our table stood gormless once I told her to test my child's mash my onions rings and chips were cold when served I get your busy but next time still serve food hot also the xl mixed grill came with 5 chips again I get football or rugby was on but we there for a nice birthday meal that turned out not so great so maybe have more kitchen staff if your holding busy nights

Didn't have to wait too long for food. All the meals were tasty and hot. Good value for money. Bit of a wait at the bar...seemed understaffed. All the waiting on staff were lovely and helpful.

Really nice pub/restaurant. Ive been twice this week for a cheesy stack burger and the hunters chicken this evening. Took me a while to figure out why it was so nice....no loud pumping music! Just a nice low hubbub of people chattering away enjoying their partners and friends company. Takes a while to order and get that order but that due to it being busy and deservedly so! The staff are hard working and super nice and the food is well cooked and tasty....as usual, the bottom line - would i come back and would i recommend it....YES definitely, good food, good beer, really nice atmosphere and above all great friendly happy staff.

5 stars for lovely food and friendly staff. Couldn't fault the service. We had the flat bread with southern fried chicken and chips. It was very tasty. The look of the place put me off slightly. It was scruffy looking outside as well as tired and dated inside. As my sister had previously visited I went on her advice. Could definitely do with a refurb. When visiting the toilet the smell of urine was apparent as I walked past the end of the bar. Would visit again purely on the food and staff.

A while ago my mother and I visited this place for breakfast. The experience was awful. A woman, who we assume was the manager, was loudly and consistently berating her staff. Our server had made a mistake involving some coke spillage and hearing this blonde lady bully her staff and openly and loudly discuss her faults while patrons were in was frankly uncomfortable. We came for breakfast, not a demonstration of poor people skills and rudeness. The food was mediocre, the server got our order wrong, and the atmosphere was atrocious.

Decent food, arrived quickly and staff were all friendly. It's clean and feels relaxed. Reasonable pricing and we will definitely visit again

Got told we could sit anywhere that wasn’t reserved, then lady with red hair basically told us we could only sit on one table next to a screaming child. We then heard her tell another party they’d need to leave by a certain time if that table became reserved after they’d started their meal! Can’t just do that. Rest of the team was lovely-her customer service was severely lacking.

When we are en route to Scotland or in the area we always eat here. It's only about a mile from the M6 on the A7 going into Carlisle. The staff are friendly and professional and the place is very clean and well looked after. The prices are very reasonable and portions very generous, the specials especially the skillet ones Gammon and the hunters chicken were delicious. My wife left in her back behind and a very courteous member of staff ran outside to find us and hand it back. Great service can't recommend enough!

This was our first visit today and we can’t fault the staff the food and the venue. The staff made sure we had everything we wanted and that we were happy with our meals, the food came out quickly and was delicious, the pub had plenty of space and you could sit in a quiet corner for two or have a large table for a family gathering also there is plenty of outdoor tables. We regularly visit Green King pubs as we have family that work for the company and we were very impressed.

We often eat out here and love it. On 27th April, 11 family members (6 adults and 5 children) celebrated my husband’s retirement with dinner booked for 5.30pm. The meals arrived on time and everyone enjoyed them. The food was good, steaks perfectly cooked and the staff were very friendly and obliging and made it really special for him. Definitely recommended.

Basic pub grub place - staff pleasant and friendly

Very bad service order starters at 19.34 pm and order the drinks at 19.52 pm the starters arrived but still no drink which was order on the app. Customers were going to the bar and getting served so I ask members off staff about our drinks at 19.56 pm she would go and check she Come and said they are doing them now. At 20.07pm the drinks still not arrived at 20.10 pm our main were brought to our table which was number 10 then at 20.15 pm our drinks arrived must admit never experience this service before. I will give them another chance when I book the restaurant again. This is the reason I do not use the turf Carlisle because the service. Again they had a chance to put it right. They did not do it. That why I started to use the gosling in the last 2 years I have used the gosling for birthdays never had a problem in about 12 times I have use this restaurant. Sorry I had to post this I post everytime I use this restaurant this is my first negative post

Great food and atmosphere, staff were happy and helpful even though it was a really busy day. The Guinness 0.0 was a real treat! We have eaten here a few times and the food and service are excellent 5* all-round 👍

Looked for a dog friendly rest stop close to M74/M6 heading south. Found Gosling Bridge Inn, just 3-4 minutes from Motorway. Staff welcomed us on arrival and made a fuss of our four-legged companion, asked if he was allowed treats and brought a bowl of water and a bowl of treats straight to the table. Some local workmen who appeared to be regulars also chatted to him and brought him more treats. We arrived just before noon and had no problem getting a seat, but several tables were reserved, and it filled up fast.
