Good Year Chinese Take Away in Derry

Premises is open to 11pm, phoned at 10:53pm to be told they are only doing delivery. Asked for a simple chicken ball special with gravy and was declined. When I asked what time they stop taking walk in orders I was told 10:50pm which is ironic saying that it was only 3 minutes before I phoned. Second time I have been disappointed with trying to order food oilut of here. Messaged the owner previously and was promised it wouldn't happen again. Stay away at all costs.

Ordered food, waited just over 2 hours to then be missing items also chips bland, chicken balls soggy, stale chips. Very unhappy as waiting that long I’d hope to be given edible food.

Thought would try here tonight as never have. The girl at the till was lovely who served us however that's were the good points stop. They was extremely busy which is a good sign so we thought we waited a good 20mins for our food and when we received it and got home a 2min drive away our food was cold. Very disappointed

If your in the shop ordering food don't order at the till bring out your phone and order on there own website in front of them cause the price on there own website is cheaper than they charge you at there till even tho they are taking cash only at the till. I questioned them why they are charging more at the till but got a few red faced waffles for an answer,so there website which is cheapest, then there's the board price in the shop which is more than the website then there's the price they charge you at the till which is more again all 3 different for your same order.

Good quality food for a decent prices, I thought the noodles were seasoned perfectly, and the chicken with water chestnuts and bamboo shoots was probably one of the nicest chicken dishes I’ve had from a Chinese takeaway - the portion sizes are very good as well. The only area for improvement I would say is that the salt and chilli chips would be nicer with a stronger flavour as I didn’t taste much salt and chilli from them. Staff are really friendly and the lobby is really clean

Just tried for first time and it was beaut. I love that you do a light colour fluffy fried rice as it is far fresher. Curry was beaut too and chips top notch. Will def be back. EDIT As I loved the Chinese so much I ordered again on Sunday and it was the total opposite . Chips were undercooked and rice tasted like it was re heated and the chicken was slimey. Does the chef on a Thursdsy night and Sunday night differ?

Made the simple order in shop of a portion of chicken balls, prawn toast and a tub of gravy, 30 minutes later nothing, asked about my order and told some guff about being busy when others had came and gone that came in after me, ask for some compo they said they have nothing to give even tho they gave to someone else that had been left standing, took food home to find greasy, slimy chicken balls and prawn toast and a thimble of gravy which was also poor, shambles of a place

So I order a chicken fried rice.... it came and was a chicken boiled rice!!! that was cold. So didn't eat it! The chicken balls was OK. Curry sauce tasted like it has flowers mushed into it.... so didn't eat it Pure rotten will never ever order from there again how can u mess up a chicken FRIED rice though really

Best Chinese in Derry by far. Nicer than mandarin palace.

Dear cesspit Not worth the money

First time eating here and thought I was safe ordering chips, fried rice and curry sauce. Apart from the fact it had a dribble of curry on it, the food was absolutely disgusting! Covered in oil with excess oil laying at the bottom of the tub. Had to make myself sick an hour after eating it to stop from feeling so horrible!

Food was scabby 8 bits of chicken tub wasn't full and a spoon full of curry on it seriously never again 🤢🤢

First time eating here very tasty, portions are a bit small .

Got a friend to go there less than a week ago. Granted I got boiled rice instead of the fried rice that I ordered but nevertheless I couldn't complain as it was very good. The portions were good and everything was very tasty if not delicious. The sweet and sour sauce was exactly that and excellent quality. Will definitely be back and hopefully continue to enjoy

Disgrace I placed an order with the take away they got the order wrong I called back down to the take away and the Chinese feller argued with me blaming me for not rdering the right thing and then told me I had to pay external for there mistake and when I did eventually eat my food it was disgusting could not eat it never again bad food bad attitude

Ordered dinner, staff didn't take down half the order on the docket when we phoned, 1 item missing another incorrect. When phoned to say it was wrong spoke to staff who honestly didn't sound like they had a clue what they were doing. Asked to speak to manager who was unhelpful and quite abrupt to me. Have lost a long term custom we will never be back.

Seems owners are up to something dodgy. Got a Chinese 4 weeks ago and was told they would not accept card as the card machine was broke. When I told them I was only paying with card and if they couldn't accept I would have to go elsewhere. They decided the card machine was working and let me pay with my card after all. Phoned tonight to make an order for collection. Was told to wait, when the man came back on he advised card only? When i asked why as I was told the exact same thing a few weeks ago. He replied "do you want to order or not we are busy" customer service skills are next to none and not the first bad experience with here either.

I have had few take aways from here and it has been delicious quick delivery service .

Fantastic authentic Chinese take away restaurant level food delivered quickly and on time and staff very helpful would recommend.

Ordered chicken Cantonese style and chicken wings. Absolutely horrible. Food was cold when it arrived. Tasteless and bland and quite expensive. Couldn't even eat it.

Ordered paid stood for45 minutes. Only to be told that my order was not processed . Really mad .will nit use them again they are more focussed on deliveries worst take away ever.

Chicken in garlic sauce literally tastes like chicken in wallpaper paste. Absolutely horrible. Ordered a curry sauce, never came. Portion of ribs had 5 tiny short ribs in it. Singapore fried rice with noodles had no rice. Very disappointing

Since they moved to the new site the quality has dropped significantly, not just the food but also the staff. Got a meal tonight which could never have been what I ordered and ended up in the bin. The young girl on the front desk clearly didn't want to be there and had no idea of customer service. Prices appear to have gone up, portions gone down. Used Good Year for years and years but tonight is the last time I'll set foot in the place.

Dont order the pork foo young comes covered in a black sauce which it doesn't state that is on it, then ring up to just be told if you don't like it order from somewhere else

I used to love this place but has recently become too expensive. 4 pound for a small tub of sauce? And they refused to put some on top of my noodles to try to get me to buy the sauce. Sure you could just buy another special for that. Dosnt make sense.

Love this place, their curry is amazing. I order a tub to take home anytime I’m in the area. The prices are very reasonable and the food is always made quickly and to a high standard. Just wish I lived closer.

This was a disappointing experience. The pork balls the dough was raw. The chicken soup the lid was broken so plastic was in the soup. The duck was mostly fat the skin. Hardly any meat. And they would not even refund the money for the pork balls that was still raw. Avoid this takeaway. They don't take responsibility or even apologise when they mess up.

Got a sweet and sour chicken tonight. It was DELICIOUS and the best sweet and sour sauce I have ever had. Real chicken too, not processed. Fabulous food. I will be back. So happy! Great value. Thank you! See yous again !!

Nit happy what so ever odered a salt and chilli chicken with a chick ball next to a dribble of sauce . . . Girl that answered ask3d me to hurry uo as it was quarter past and thwy finshed at 12.30. . . Not happy at all with being spoke ti like that as A PAYING CUST that recieved the bare minimum as use were CLOSING SOON and asked me TO HURRY UP !!!!!!

Got takeaway tonight. Very tasty Chinese food with good flavor. Hot &sour soup, chicken cashew nuts ( breast meat) and Szechuan king prawns( served in a batter nice to eat). Large serving with good sauce/flavor to each. Fried rice was plain however. Also got two pieces of fish which were not to our taste hence the 4*. Would order again if in the area. ( from overseas).

Ordered food from this place, they delayed it then cancelled at the original time of delivery... No calls to inform us or anything..

A bit slow but definitely worth the wait 😀😀
