Honestly if you're looking for an authentic Chinese takeaway don't even bother. As a great enthusiast of chinese food, it doesn't taste close to how it should be. It actually shouldn't be operating as Chinese takeaway as nothing tastes authentic. I am just assuming, either it's cooked by a very novice person or by someone who doesn't have any knowledge about chinese cuisine. Staff were friendly however.

Busy bank holiday weekend, my wife and I ordered a mea. Even though they were rushed off their feet, the meal was ready on time, the service was excellent and friendly as always, but most importantly the food was brilliant. Thanks guys 👍

Great Chinese takeaway food. I never expect too much from Chinese take away, the kids love it!! But this was actually really nice food. The place looked closed! But the service and food was great. Cash only.

Lovely food. Wasn't open 2 days of the week so be carefully. Service was great and quite quick. Everywhere we looked it said dine in but that part was closed so watch for that too

Salt and pepper chips and chicken was none existent and no taste at all, full of grease and Just plain no idea how you can say it was salt and pepper, everything was greasy and not eatable at all. Honestly had to throw it away. Even the spare ribs were just gristle and greasy. Avoid don’t waste your money.

Genuinely don't know how this chinese gets negative reviews? I've used it all my life and its always been consistently good! Special curry egg fried rice chicken satey chicken balls sweet and sour sauce prawn toast always bang on, always great service from Andy and Jim top lads!

Amazing food very friendly great atmosphere would highly recommend. I came with a group of friends and we all really enjoyed it.

We always love to call in at Good Luck when we visit Barmouth. The food is brilliant, really tasty and a convenient location.

Partner summed it up perfectly, worse Chinese ever had. Chucked half of our food away. Rice was tough and tasted stale. Chicken balls had a hint of fish about them. I’d give the place 2/10.

We ordered beef chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls, mini spring rolls, rice and chips costed around £21+. Foods ready in 20mins of wait. Unfortunately the noodles chow mein was greasy, soulless beansprouts, thinly cut beef and only can taste the soy sauce and salt. Sweet and sour chicken balls, the chicken was tough. They must be precooked before coated in batter for frying. Hence slightly overcooked. The poorest one was the mini spring rolls. The glass noodle in the ingredients were messy, lost the texture and sticky to your teeth while biting them. It was not tasty at all. I'm sorry theres room for improvement.

We decided to try it despite some very poor reviews. Unfortunately, the chicken chow mein was the worst I'd ever had. It was dry, without much flavour and the chicken was chewy. The beef version was the same. Very disappointing.

Probably the worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had, my chicken fou young should have been called pea fou young there was that many of them in it, the wife's sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style was flavourless with chewy chicken, the fried rice was really greasy, the one shining light was, the chips were nice

Take away I had mixed meat special chow mien worst meal I’ve ever had and I’ve used them for years the meat was freezing and water was dripping out of it so unless it gets new cooks I will never use them again

Family of 10 on a Pre-Christmas break, looking for some great takeaway food on the night of our arrival.... .... and Jimmy Yip and the team at Good Luck did certainly not disappoint!! Fabulous tasty food, a couple of off-menu requests were provided happily, service was friendly and efficient, and great value for money - what more could you ask?? 👍👍😊 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

One off boiled rice missing,special curry was the greases oiliness mess I have ever had,both sweet and sour and special curry hardly had any meat at all prawn crackers were soft and oiley.will never go there again

Looking at the reviews I didn’t think it would be worth going wild with the mains, glad I didn’t. Beef fried rice - the rice was nice and fluffy, the beef was plain, no seasoning or sauce but went fine with the rice. Salt n pepper chips - should be called onion chips, no point ordering this one. Crispy seaweed - super salty, usually they have a little sugar but I’m still thirsty from this. Curry sauce - went well with the chips I ended up having from the mermaid next door! Portion wise they were all more than enough, together it could have fed two. But taste was totally lacking, just stick to the basics if you are craving a Chinese. Staff were lovely and polite though.

Went on two occasions for take aways whilst on holiday and I enjoyed both as we ate them by the sea which enhanced the enjoyment. The Mermaid fish and chips are next door but for me pop into the Good Luck for a tasty alternative.

Great customer service and value for money

Nice staff but the food was terrible, I had lots of chicken in my curry but it tasted terrible, the curry sauce tasted OK but was congealed and the egg fried rice was the worst I have ever had , I really love Chinese food but I would not eat here again.

Ordered food and collected Shop is in need of a lick of paint and signage,ordered chicken curry,Cantonese sweet & sour pork was spot on,really tasty would deffo recommend don't let the shop front put you off.

Staff were nice but the food was awful. The chicken (if it was chicken could have been seagull) was rough. The noodles were swimming in grease. The next morning my stomach was bad.

We didn't expect such a good meal with such mixed reviews. Pleasantly surprised with every meal chosen, there were 5 of us (2 vegetarians) and each of us really enjoyed our choices, we would definitely go again when next in the area and would highly recommend to anyone in doubt.

The food was good, not too greasy and well flavoured.

Rice was cold , chips looked like they were microwaved, barley any chicken in the chicken curry. Prawn crackers were shrivelled up.

While on holiday in Barmouth we decided to give this Chinese a try. I am so glad we did the food here is absolutely excellent, prices are cheap and the portion sizes you get for your money here are amazing! A special thank you as well to the young man who served us what a lovely polite guy! We are already looking forward to coming back.

This takeaway only accepts cash, but not stated on the menu! They had no beansprouts even though the Co-op just a hundred yards away had stock! Poor qulity meal with almost black noodles and they had no BBQ sauce.

Had a takeaway on Saturday evening, both our children were starving and love Chinese food, neither would touch there chicken chowmein! It was bland, and tasted of nothing like it was from a packet! Egg fried rice was slush! And as for the chicken and green peppers in black bean sauce!!! Me and my partner didn't even dare eat it! The sauce was just like dirty dish water! Chips were only half cooked through and to top it off the prawn crackers were literally like of the supermarket shelf! Be careful of the mini spring rolls, we weren't told that they were meat spring rolls, Good Luck is definitely what you need to eat there

Lovely people but food wasn't the best 😕

Decided to have a takeaway whilst we stayed over for the weekend. I had read the reviews and felt confident to order a mixed variety for the family. The cost was reasonable and that’s how I found the food very average. Tough meat, very salty I was disappointed.

The good luck has really gone down dont know if its had new owners or just a new chef had a prawn curry absolutely tasteless rice was stuck together and chips were half cooked

Service was great. Food delicious. I do think you'd get so much ore business if your shop looked more inviting. I always think its closed down when I walk by. Maybe others think the same? I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but if people haven't been to your Chinese before, then I think they would go elsewhere just from looking in the window.

Read some petty reviews on here made me giggle… Tell you now the food here is very good, lived here all my life never had a bad meal and if you did then the owner would do you more food or give you money back. Know the owners all my life nicest people you could know. Ive eaten Chinese food lots of different places And this place is up there with the top ones.. cheers jim and andy

Delicious food and generous portions. :) There is something for everyone. They cater to vegans and vegetarians aswel as meat eaters.

Ordered duck in orange sauce. Duck must to be thrown frozen straight into the frying, meat very hard and unchewable. Chow main noodles not the best taste either. The only Chinese around Barmouth unfortunately not the best! Probably you might need "good luck" to find here something good and tasty.

How disappointing! We live locally but haven’t ordered anything since well before lockdown. The crispy duck appeared to have been cooked so many times that it was hard to distinguish it from the salt and pepper ribs, which tasted of nothing but fat. The Szechuan chicken was very nice, the fried rice was as expected but the vegetable chow mein was also swimming in fat and fairly tasteless. Very poor value for the money paid, we won’t be ordering again.

Tried whilst on holiday. Had the chicken in satay sauce and fried rice. Taste was good and chicken not chewy. Will use again for sure. Only minor downside were the poor prawn crackers which some were not crispy but minor point.

Good ingredients competently cooked. Chinese cuisine tends to be fairly standard. Good Luck provides the usual favourites on the menu. The ones we tried were tasty and satisfying. The one waitress was very busy but coped well for a Saturday night dining.

After coming to this place for years and enjoying the food I have just had my worse meal ever. Given a filthy glass asked for it to be replaced and was given another just as bad.Soggy lumpy rice had me rushing to bathroom which was also filthy and smelt disgusting. never again!!

We travel all around the UK and the chinese that's up the road from us at home is decent. Have to say this is one of the worst we've had while on holiday. Prawn crackers tasted stale, the spring rolls were like a tube of garlic. and the sweet and sour chicken balls, the meat inside was very dry. My friends portion even had a 3 inch piece of bone inside instead of chicken. Not great!!. Just a shame all the other chinese and indian restaurants have bad reviews as well. Ordered food and asked if how long it would be as had to order taxi , order came ribs were missed off told cab on way had to wait I was well pi**ed off so was cab driver eventually got ribs got home ribs awful should,not have bothered 2 meals we ordered were very good .only got ribs as another review had raved over them hmmm some people have very low standards

Staff were friendly and welcoming.The food... I wasn't expecting anything great in a small town and three of us are so fussy we annoy ourselves but, we were very impressed! Large tasty portions and the price was great. I've eaten worse food for double the price in some cities. Will be visiting again before we leave. Thanks :)

Good service but food tasteless

We stopped in here one night for tea after a day out in Barmouth. The food was nice, however, the portions were much smaller than expected for the price. Worth a visit if you want a chinese.

So me and the better half was on a weekend away in barmouth as we do this time of year. Decided to revisit the Good Luck Chinese restaurant as we have had delicious meals from hear in the past, and it did not disappoint!!. My beef in black bean sauce being one of the best I’ve ever had. While the misses enjoyed her chicken chow main. All in all another great visit to this little restaurant in sunny Barmouth.

If you want a Chinese meal in Barmouth this seems to be your only choice. Having spoken to the locals most of them use it for take-way only and state that the food is "ok". We wanted a sit down meal and being Saturday assumed it would be busy. When we arrived it was half empty. The 2 waitresses were attentive and the prices of the food and drink reasonable. We ordered satay chicken. prawns with veg, and a veg chow mein. For wine you can order red,white or rose but no choice of brand. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay with mixed feelings as to what is would be like, but it was very drinkable and good value. We had to ask for a wine cooler though as the chilled bottle was simply plonked on the table. However, they did oblige to our request running out to get ice. The food was average, but tasty enough. The best dish being the prawns in oyster sauce. The chicken satay was mediocre as was the chow mein. However we enjoyed the evening and the bill was a pleasant surprise, great value. So don't expect top quality Chinese cuisine but then again you wont be paying inflated prices.

Old school Chinese curries... top drawer ... spicy and really tasty!!! Reasonably priced too! Will definitely drop in again if I’m in the area
