Standard Chinese takeaway that is ok, service was good but another Chinese that has opted for packet based curry sauce (ie mayflower, fish brand) rather than their own recipe, what happened to authentic family recipes

Delicious Chinese food at affordable prices

Being honest, we were put off visiting here due to the reviews on here and google. But Pwllheli has very little choice!! We were a table of 5 and the only table in the restaurant, we all had a bad feeling about it upon entry.. How wrong we were! Every meal we had was freshly prepared and delicious, including different starters, duck pancakes and various mains. The service was perfect, very attentive without being intrusive. Given only one other table came into the restaurant, we were left to enjoy our drinks for a while after we'd had our table cleared without being rushed out the door. Don't be put off by the negative reviews, takeaway orders were flying out too.

Takeaway while staying at Hafen Y Mor.

Lived here nearly 2 years finally got around to sampling the food. Not anything to write home about to be honest. Chow Mein was just mush.

Had a Chinese here on our last day at haven, it was okay but the S&P ribs were not the best very dry and not a lot of meat can't really fault main meal though definitely worth a visit

Ordered a takeaway whilst holidaying in the area. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the quality of the food, salt & pepper ribs were very overcooked and inedible. The other dishes were distinctly average. Very disappointing and won't be in a hurry to return

Once again, can't fault the food or service. Despite the restaurant being full and the takeaway also being very busy, the wait-time was perfectly reasonable and every dish cooked to perfection - as is always the case. Looking forward to ordering from the extensive menu again soon - confident we will be able to enjoy another excellent meal

Have eaten takeaway from this restaurant for many years. Decided to sit in the restaurant with my youngest son. Same meals apart from two drinks, which came to £8.50. The whole bill was £25.00 more than a takeaway. I understand I am paying extra to sit in, but my main concern was the portion size, tiny compared to takeaway.

Stayed in local area for the New Year and decided to order Chinese on NYE. Not many choices available locally, however, this seemed like a good option and was very busy (which always seems like a good sign). Placed order and was told food would be ready within 35mins. I appreciate it was NYE, however, we waited more than 90mins as the orders stacked up as well as the reception area. The waiting area could do with some chairs as it was crammed being such a busy evening. Even though we waited 3 x times the predicted waiting time, the food was well worth the wait! Everything was very well cooked, well spiced and delicious. The only negative was the prawn toast (greasy) which seemed to taste better the next day when eaten cold. Definitely recommend and would order again, but maybe not during a large public holiday as they seem to struggle with organising the ordering system and felt sorry for the lady behind the counter who had to deal with some unhappy customers.

Great Chinese with loads to choice from, service was excellent 👌 we sat in to eat, the restaurant was clean and comfortable.

We regularly have takeout from here but as my daughter was visiting we decided to sit in. The food and staff were spot on. We all enjoyed our food very much especially the duck starter. Would highly recommend.

I love the food and service is good. We have had many takeaways from Bamboo so that speaks for itself. Planning for the next one soon

The food here is delicious, we went for the set menu as we couldn’t choose, nice to try things we wouldn’t normally order, soup starter was great ! Really friendly and attentive service, highly recommended.

Best chinese takeaway in Pwllheli since Chungs closed. Much improved last couple of years too although was still better 20 years ago! The takeaway we had last Friday was very tasty though and we will use again as have done for many years 👌🏻👍🏻

Came in with my family and had an absolutely delicious meal! With no expectations as we had never been before, we were blown away. The crispy duck to start was delicious - and nice and crispy as you’d expect. The satay chicken main was one of the best I’ve tried, it had the perfect balance of spice! Overall would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning again!

I got a takeaway here and it was of poor quality and i was unable to eat it so it went in the bin.

Not awful but not good either . chips had definitely definitely been re heated never had chips like that before why you would do that when they're so cheap I've no idea ! Rest of the food was average but pretty bland

Not been to the Bamboo house restaurant since COVID started. Went to night with my sister very nice what I had. 12th July. We had 3 different meals and spring rolls. Excellent service Again. Will come back Christmas when my family come to visit me again .

Wanted a meal for 2, to take out but only one on menu contained a product I'm allergic to. I asked if they could change the dish for one of a similar price. They said they would, and then charged me extra! However, what we did have was very tasty.

Awful food,havnt been here in years,but we coudnt even eat it,bined £20 worth of food....it used to be so good when joanne had it..never going there again

Do not waste your money here , the worse chinese ever , everything was awfull , duck was rock solid , curry tasted like soap , was called chicken but im not sure what noice that animal made before

It's really not nice food. I have had to take slimy chicken back that was unfit for human consumption. They reluctantly replaced it with a dish that was Luke warm. Its a hit and miss on if you're lucky to receive decent food. It's expensive, so it should always be good food.

Amazing food, definitely worth the money. Lots of volume of food too. Staff were lovely and very helpful, made us feel welcome.

My sister and I enjoyed ourselves in the Bamboo house, Marion had vermicelli noodles and I had the house special.

I wouldn’t even give them a star. Overpriced with awful service. Server barely understood the menu, sent out wrong dishes, wasnt difficult considering we ordered chow meins, worst of all I ended up leaving with such sever food poisoning I’ve ended up hospitalised. Never again would I go there or even recommend it to my worst enemy

Had a sharing platter starter, enough for 4 people although just 2 of us. Both main courses would also feed 2 people, so a lot of food came home. Not cheap but when you get a complete second meal to have at home, becomes better value for money. Venue was clean and tidy and staff helpful and friendly. Food arrived promptly.

Oily tastless chow mein with almost zero beansprouts or veg in it. Dry cardboard chips. Chicken balls that don't resemble balls at all and looked like they were cooked a week ago. Uncle Ben microwave rice. Prawn crackers were ok though. Avoid!

Ate here with my husband and my two boys and everything was very delicious. Particularly nice salt and pepper squid.

Basic food nothing special overpriced.

Take-away. Read a number of reviews on here and thought it couldn't be that bad as it was an actual eat-in restaurant as well. But sadly it really was. Everything just tasted pre-packed & boiled, even the chicken - cetainly didn't taste like wok freshly prepared. Very bland. The vast majority of it went in the bin.

Has this place been sold recently? I usually get food from here once a month. Just had a meal from there and it was dire. Chips were obviously reheated, the beef chow mein stinks. My friends beef in oyster sauce looked absolutely vile. Got free prawn Crackers, so at least I have something to eat.

Bland rubbish and so overpriced. Stay away! £41 for chicken with ginger and spring onion and a beef with ginger and spring onion, glass of tap water and 2 glasses of wine.

We booked a table for 2 people at 7.30 pm, but when we arrived the door was locked...yes locked! Had to ask the takeaway part of the establishment to open the door. We ordered our food, chicken with ginger and spring onion, beef with ginger and spring onion, boiled rice fried rice. The chicken was tough and tasteless and so was the beef. Servce didn't come with a smile or any sort of a welcome. In all there were 6 people in the restaurant and when 3 walk ins came in they were turned away because the waitress said they were too busy. REALLY??? Three couples at three tables constitutes busy. I think the 3 walk ins had a lucky escape really, I wish we had walked away when we found the door locked. My recommendation is STAY WAY, no matter how hungry you are just keep walking.

Had food from here while on holidays and it was beautiful, very quick service, piping hot and great value for money too . High recommend

Tasteless bland food. I spent 25 quid and no prawn crackers but the person before me spent 18 and got some. Miserable moody woman. Don't bother with it it's rubbish and tastes like uncle Ben's

Well... This is one star and this is exactly what I mean. Sorry to say, and this is my personal opinion, but after my 10 years in the UK and trying a lot of Chinese food this is the worst experience. My daughter's meal went straight to the bin. Crispy beef. It was really crispy, it was completely burned and cracked like dry branches. Honestly, if the chef would say "sorry, I burned it" I would not mind to wait longer or order something else... My chicken with rice... Ok, it was edible but nothing more... And maybe I am wrong, again, this is my opinion but... It didn't look fresh. My guess, because we been the first customers... I suggest this was food which left from last night... If not, it is just not tasty food. Sorry to say. And, actually, it is not even about food, it is about respect to customers. We couldn't go back because we were in Abersoch so... Good there is supermarket because other way my daughter would stay without her dinner at all. I don't even remember when last time I was so disappointed about my meal.

Family holiday for a special occasion. Ordered takeaway as soon as it opened. Big mistake. Everything was so overcooked and dry we are convinced it was reheated food. Duck was charcoal. Prawn toast, spring rolls, ribs,chips well overcooked and dry. Very disappointing. Unable to return due to isolated cottage rented. Cannot recommend.

I would not even give this place a star ... this is the worst Chinese I've experienced in my lifetime. The sweet and sour was indelible the foo young definitely didn't have ham in it. (Spam at best)Absolutely disgusting food. Be warned don't waste your money. Be lucky if we don't get food poisoning!!!

It was disappointing to read the recent negative reviews about Bamboo house, I can only assume that they have a different sort of Chinese takeaway in Cheshire. Either way it certainly bears no resemblance to our recent experience, our second time ordering from here in the past couple of years. Having eaten at many Chinese takeaways around the U.K. and across North Wales this is definitely one of the better ones. The Singapore vermicelli was excellent. So often the sweet and sour chicken is too sickly sweet but this was perfect. If you are in the area and looking for a holiday takeaway you could do a lot worse than Bamboo house. Highly recommended.

Had a delicious takeaway that we were allowed to eat at the wonderful Penlan Fawr Inn whilst watching the football. We had their special menu for two and it was scrummy and great sized portions, lasted us two meals.

Awful awful food. Soup starters main and rice inedible It reminded me of the sludge Chinese takeaways served up in the 80’s We were absolutely starving and still threw it all out Please do yourself a favour and give this take away a miss

Really disappointed. Very oily and lack of flavour. Most of it ended up in the bin.

One of the worst if not the very worst Chinese meals I've had the displeasure of experiencing. We'd ordered sweet and sour chicken and salt and pepper chicken and both were inedible due to the weird, slimy and sludgy consistency of the meat. To be fair, the flavour of the sauce and salt and pepper was good but the slimy chicken was stomach churningly unpleasant. I never post reviews but feel driven to in this instance.

Disgusting food greesy and there was a hair in our meal when I rang up all they could say was ill be more carful next time. Last night on our holiday and we where looking forward to it but was extremely disappointed 😞 will definitely never eat from thereif wego away again

We ordered a few main meals which were disgusting, chips what were reheated, again disgusting, in fact the whole thing was poor, didn’t even eat it! All went in the bin! I would never go there again and definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to no one. Should be ashamed to take my money.

Bit disappointed. I know it's a Thursday night but I didn't expect food to be re heated. BBQ spare ribs greasy with a tea spoon of bbq sauce. Salt and pepper wings batter soft and chewy. Duck and plum sauce not hot and came out like a brick out of the container. Duck green pepper and black bean sauce wasn't bad (duck wasn't freshly cooked) . Rice was very nice and coca cola was good.

Food is good, all meats and flavours of good quality. Asked on the phone for wontons and they made them for us. Would go again.

Was ok, felt healthy as the portions were small. Had special fried rice and special foo yung, both tasted same? no identifying flavor.

Ordered duck in plum sauce,got home it was duck in orange sauce!!! The chips was a mix of fresh and over cooked potatoes! Will not go again!!!

I had duck in orange sauce and it was the best i have ever had and there was plenty. Starter very nice to. Would say if you go to pwllheli you need to give Bamboo House a try.

We wanted to order online but this wasn't available. We drove, ordered and picked up.The lady was very friendly. I asked for something that wasn't on the menu and it wasn't a problem for them to prepare. On the menu they only had sweet & sour with one meat. I wanted a mixed sweet & sour which they did and it was really tasty. The special fried rice was lovely too.My partner had duck in orange sauce. He is quite specific about this dish and said it was one of the best he's had. There was so much duck. He loved it, although did comment that more orange sauce would have been nice ;-) The prawn toast in really tasty, and quite a big portion too. They also do really nice prawn crackers.When we are next in the area, we'll certainly be back.

Made a reservation here. Only us and 1 more couple eating in. Food was excellent and sensible price. Menu on app. Place was covid clean and organised.

We have recently started going here again. Quality and service seems to have gotten much better. New owners i think 👍👍. We like the chicken fried rice with the sauce/ gravy! Delicious

Been coming here for years whenever we are on our family holiday to Gimblet Rock. Cannot fault it. Tasty, hot food and reasonable prices. We had a selection of curries, chow mein and sweat and sour. Everything got eaten up quickly by the family. I do prefer chip shop chips however and luckily that is only a few steps away so you can have the best of both.

We visited as a group of four on a Monday evening, if I am being truthful we were a bit apprehensive given some of the reviews we had read on here!The restaurant was quite empty but the takeaway attached was doing a roaring trade, I think a wet Monday evening in January would not exactly be very busy I suppose.We got soup starters and a side of spring rolls and Sui mais, the Sui mais were probably one of the best I have had. For the main course we got a couple of curries, special fried rice and a beef straw mushroom. As others have mentioned the portion size was very generous but most of all the food was first class.All I would say is that if you are in the area give this restaurant a go I don’t think you would be disappointed with the quality of the food on offer.

Good choice on the menu, and fairly priced I thought. The portion sizes are enormous, so go there really hungry or share, ample for two we thought. Food served hot and tasty. Dont get me wrong, this is not a posh place by any means, just good honest food. Decent wine prices too.

Took friends for a meal had a selection of starters and a platter, main meals plenty to choose, food was very tasty and plenty of it, couldn't fault it, service was good and it was nice not to be rushed, will definitely be going back

Went here for a meal with family. On entering the place had a damp smell and we were left waiting for someone to come out to show us where we were sitting. Total confusion in ordering out food. I’ve given two stars as starter was ok. I and my two granddaughters had sweet and sour chicken. It was as tough as old boots. Hadn’t been for years and won’t be back again.
