I like this hotel and always choose to stay here when I can afford it when I am in Cambridge for business. The location is ideal for walking to places in the old part of Cambridge, and there are e-scooters and e-bikes for rental just across the road which make it easy to explore further afield. The start are very polite. My room was large with a comfortable bed; however the air conditioning was noisy and ineffective and it was difficult to get the room at a comfortable temperature, and the hot water wasn’t quite hot enough for a bath. The room rate has become rather expensive (nearly £200 for 1 person B&B plus £28 per night for parking) and at these prices I would expect a flawless luxury room. They really need to consider replacing the aging a/c units. Restaurant is expensive. Breakfast is quite good.

Had a great weekend stay with my wife at the Gorville Hotel. Service was brilliant, room was lovely and breakfast very tasty. We’ll definitely be going back

Worst service from a range of hotels on our MBA Global Immersion. The staff is abrupt and brushes one off too obviously. It seems there is a bit of discrimination against foreigners as the locals are treated much better with pleasant smiles and helpful assistance. Don't think you will get on time to your 8 o'clock meeting as their weekday kitchen only opens at 7 am, and combined with an understaffed and slow kitchen, you will most probably have to leave your breakfast to catch your transport. The rooms are also very small for similar money in other places in the UK, with obvious stains on the carpets. Not to be recommended - very sad for such a briljiant location.

Very very good location. I think most people chose this hotel because of this. My room overlooks the big square which I found very good. The facility is a bit old but everything is working fine as the air con was working superb when we visited in summer. Elevator is built after the establishment which I do appreciate they have it than anything else. Sound proof could improve though. The check-in was smooth. I requested an early check in which was prepared for us and I was really happy with. Unfortunately the jazz band was not performing due to current renovation. Generally good experience.

Very comfy rooms. Great location. But missed more gluten and dairy free options at breakfast.

Although a little pricey it was a lovely hotel and the room we had was very nice and clean as you would expect. It had a comfy bed along with coffee machine and tea making facilities. The only thing we struggled with were the pillows. They do offer a good pillow menu so you can change them for different ones. This is only a very minor thing though and pillows are such a personal thing it's difficult for any hotel to give you what you spent years being used to at home. The included breakfast was very nice and there was a good selection. The staff were all very nice and friendly. We came here for the weekend and thought it was in a good location. Very easy to walk to all the tourist sites and the punting. It's not all that obvious but they offer a FREE 45 minute tour in one of their Bentley's which made us feel very special. We went in the 1953 Bentley which was really nice and we felt very special and the chauffeur was very knowledgeable. This went round local villages and then dropped us off for a private punting tour which the hotel arranged for us (punting was obviously at a price) but it was well worth it. The hotel also has a handful of free bikes you can use. We planned to do that but found everywhere seemed a little busy so found it better to walk. All in all a great weekend and if we go back to Cambridge we would definitely consider staying here again.

Lovely hotel in good central location. Excellent staff. Lovely breakfast Unfortunately we didn't realise until we left that they offer free loan of bikes and tour of Cambridge in one of their Bentley which is an added bonus and an incentive for us to return

The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained. It was also incredibly noisy, making it hard to sleep. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable. Given the quality, the price was far too high. Not recommended. The positive aspect, is its position

I was visiting a very good friend of mine in Cambridge and stayed at the Gonville Hotel for the second night - especially due to the consistently good reviews on various platforms. Unfortunately, I was immediately disappointed by both the room facilities and the very unfriendly lady at the reception. Luckily there was a shift change in 20 minutes and the replacement was not only extremely friendly, but also gave me recommendations for renting a canoe in Cambridge (Silver Street). I can't judge the bar, but I found the breakfast extremely tasty. All in all: for just under GBP 200 / EUR 230 I was disappointed - the nice lady at the reception and the extremely delicious breakfast saved the stay.

A decent clean place, the bar maid was rude , insensitive and took her sweet time to attend to us even though we were the first ones there. Food is ok. But arrived after a lengthy delay.. when all others who came much later were already eating their food. apologies from the restaurant manager were forthcoming and he tried to set it right. A+ for effort. But, unfortunately the damage was done. Pity as the place has much potential!

We had a twin room for two friends sharing, although the hotel was lovely and great location the bathroom had a frosted slide door with no privacy. So wouldn't recommend based on that. They also charge around 23 pounds for parking which they didn't make clear on arrival. Other rooms are available but for the price was expecting a little bit more.

We had a wonderful stay at the Gonville. The Superior Deluxe room was amazing with so much space and it makes you feel special and pampered. There is even a pillow menu to ensure you have the right pillow for you. To cooked breakfasts are amazing, with a great selection on the breakfast buffet to go with it. The Bentley tour was a fascinating and enjoyable experience. The food in the restaurant is good, but you can get better for a similar price round the corner at The Oak Bistro if you can get a table there.

I can honestly say that this is the best all round hotel experience I've ever had. My wife and I have stated here twice now and will always stay here when we visit Cambridge. As a guest you can book a complimentary chauffeur driven, vintage Bentley (driven by Zane) that takes you into quintessential English Villages in the stunning countryside around Cambridge ❤️ The Gonville Hotel even supply bicycles so you can enjoy this beautiful City by pedal power. Am I gushing? Go and see for yourself, as you won't be disappointed 😁

The staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating. In particular Reuben at Reception was informative, polite, and helpful throughout check-in and check-out. It was a pleasant surprise to see our bed decorated and a card and chocolates to celebrate our engagement! The only slight feedback was that there were no bedside 3-pin charger plugs. Thank you to the Gonville for making our Cambridge stay a great one.

Enjoyed our 1-night stay here en route from London to Norfolk. Decent rooms and ours had a great view over Parkers Piece. A short walk to the hustle and bustle of central Cambridge. Didn't have dinner or breakfast so can't comment on the food. Very helpful service at reception.

What a great hotel, staff very helpful and friendly. Slept like a log on both nights we were there. Plenty to eat at breakfast. Parking was a bit odd, although I booked in the car, didn't get an allocated parking space, but managed on all occasions to get a parking space. I thinks the gods were looking after me, I managed to get, what seemed to be, the last car space. Only the disabled parking spaces, were allocated to individuals. I would certainly recommend this hotel to people and use it again.

I have visited the Gonville twice, staying in the main building on the first occasion and in Gresham House on the second. Both stays were wonderful but the most recent stay was made all the more special by the room grade. The decor would be best described as classic modern. The soft furnishings were good. The cosmetics were all from the Penhaligon’s Halfeti range. There was a semi free standing bath with a separate large shower cubicle. There was complimentary water in the mini fridge but no minibar, which was a shame. There was a turndown service with Lindor chocolates. The evening menu was good, the ambience pleasant and the breakfast plentiful.

The afternoon tea at the Gonville is absolutely delicious! My friends and I were delighted with the perfect scones and delicate cakes. There was an oyster starter ( a real surprise?) Followed by scrumptious little sandwiches. I came with three friends - one of whom was slightly disabled- and we were all impressed with the efforts of the staff to make us feel welcome and arrange comfortable seating. Cameron and Conal were particularly helpful and relocated us to another table near the Bar while we waited for transport home. They even have us a final complementary cup of tea while we waited! I cannot recommend Afternoon Tea at the Gonville more highly.

Really lovely little cafe. Treated myself to their lovely porridge and a pot of tea. Lovely way to start the day. I’ll come again next time I’m in Cambridge

I've visited this restaurant a few times in the past but unfortunately have stopped since one of our party got food poisoning - we suspect from the oysters - after eating here. We e-mailed the restaurant about this incident as a precaution but received no reply or acknowledgment. A shame since the food and ambience has otherwise been pleasant.

Cambridge's premier pizza pub! Definitely better than your average pub pizza at food prices.

We were staying in Chesterton and looking for dinner as we arrived. This showed up on Google Maps. It is a small place, not even very clearly marked on the street and you could easily miss it walking past. The person at the counter was incredibly helpful including being clear on allergens. We returned ca. 25 minutes later to collect our food and thoroughly enjoyed eating it. All the food was clearly freshly made, not oily and really good but the Daal and Saag Aaloo were excellent. I will admit to being concerned by some recent Google reviews but was glad we disregarded them. This was a very unassuming place but with good tasty dishes.
