My go-to chinese takeaway. I get the salt and pepper chicken every time and it’s always spot on. Won’t go to anywhere else!!

The staff in this Chinese are so rude, they don’t talk to you with respect even though you are putting money in their till. I thought once maybe just a bad night but this is every time. I’m not a dog don’t bark at me like I am one. I won’t be back… AVOID AVOID AVOID

Asked for chips and curry and chips and gravy told us they don't do them together so charged 4.60 for chips and sauce added 2xsalt and pepper chips and charged 18.30 scandles

The place has gone down hill since it was taken over. They need a new cook sell stogy food now, not up to muster. They will go under if they don't improve.

Very close to my house so i’ve been here a lot. Their salt and pepper chicken wings and salt and pepper chips are sensational i would highly recommend them. I really enjoy service, the people are nice and friendly and the place is always warm and clean.

Best Chinese I’ve had - lots of choice and delicious food. Food is fresh and not over sweet. Black pepper sauce is amazing, as are the salt and pepper chips. Their fried rice is lovely and you can taste the different flavours. Highly recommend

Hi we've been using Goldlion for a long time with being local residents. Tonight we ordered a simple 2 fried rice, portion of chips and curry sauce, and it was disgusting we ended up throwing it in the bin. Rice was clumpy and tasteless, and chips were hard not cooked properly. We will never be using Goldlion again.

Quality of the food is very poor and the chef changed. Horrible dishes and old quality is not there. Better to avoid!

Only ordered 2 dishes; a soup and a chowmein. They were ready VERY quickly and were REALLY tasty. However, I felt the prices were a little high and the portion size a little low. The soup had a tiny amount of chicken and 2 tiny prawns. The soup at my usual Chinese takeaway is more abundant with the meats, prawns and vegetables in a much larger tub for a smaller price. The same goes for the chowmein. It was much enjoyed but was mostly noodles and yielded lesser quantities of meat and vegetables than any other chowmein I've had. The variety of veg was also fewer.

Live round the corner from here , old owners knew me by name .They were great ,Just went in for vermachelli noodles, new owners, firstly they were not vermachelli noodles and had no spice what so ever, pot full of grease and noodle, terrible, the bin got a nice tea , waste of money . Wouldn't use it again just eat a slab of butter

Worst English I have had in a long time. Only went in quickly for chips and gravy, The lady that Served me was rude throughout. At first I will charge you extra if you spend less then five pound on card, I agreed, £4.40p for one small chips and gravy, one cheap Kirkland's bottle of water. Gave me the chips in a bag and gravy in a pot, I told her I was in a rush and would like to eat now. Then she was rude and told me we don't have trays. Then answered the phone, Whilst we was talking not even a one second, So whilst I waited I waved down, One of the chief's he brought me out a tray, She grabbed it out his hand and was rude to him. Then after I waited for her to get off the phone, She said £0.50p for the tray, I told her I had already said I went to eat now. Poor English, But she gave me the tray, the chips dry and the gravy watered down. Terrible, I love Chinese food, But after this first impression I won't ever be Going back, Overall A bad product at a bad price, with a great service, No no sorry I mean a horrible service. Only reason I went in is because the Real fish and chip shop on the other side would not accept card.

Brilliant Chinese....fresh food prepared in a super clean open kitchen. Salt and pepper tray, King prawns in pickled ginger and pineapple is definitely worth trying.

Have ordered from Goldlion many, many times, never had an issue, food always piping hot. Delivery driver polite. Had food tonight for 4 of us, just lovely. Previous reviews a little confusing but hey everyone is different

Had a delivery last weekend and the salt and pepper chips were over cooked had no chillis in them and three pieces of the salt and pepper chicken had no chicken in it. Thought I’d try it again this weekend but again the chips and chicken were over cooked and chips were very cold, spring rolls were cold too. Think this is just at weekends as when I go in the week it’s fine.

Good tasty food, I've tried the majority of the Chinese takeaways in Sale and this in my opinion is probably the best. Menu choice is pretty much the same as any other takeaway but staff are welcoming and friendly unlike some others.

Was hesitant to go back after Kim and Lisa left, but I thought i’d try it and it’s still my favourite Chinese. Very good food and good service, 5 hygiene rating helps too. I think Lisa comes back on weekends to work too so she is still there. My favourite Chinese in Sale.

I ordered a meal with no onion due to allergy, when I got home it had onion in it. I went back after calling them to get it exchanged having to drive back again. They replaced my order with an apology and that was it. I got home to find my order wrong again this time being chicken instead of tofu. The annoying thing is I have been going there for years but it's not been the same since Lisa and Kim stopped running it

Sadly since Kim and his wife no longer have the Gold Lion, it has gone downhill. The Gold Lion was renowned for it's curry which I know was made up from a powder; it was the best for miles without a doubt. Also Kim would always do me a half and half (vegetables & Quorn); even a half portion with rice. Nothing was too much trouble. When the new owners took over they refused to do my half and half; telling my husband 'only what is on the list.' We stopped going there until recently when we thought we would have our usuals for old time's sake. Sadly it seems the curry is definitely not the same that Kim used. It was lacking in punch and flavour, and even the quorn was different. We tried once more but again, the flavour and punch just wasn't there so we won't be using them again (Unless Kim and his wife come back :-)).

Stay well clear of this place! I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, I’m not one to get ill and I’ve never had food poisoning before, I’ve had the worst food poisoning from this place! I’m on day 2 of food poisoning and hoping it’ll go soon!!

Had the duck in orange sauce, which was good, the duck was a bit tough, thou. My friends meal was great. The Wan tan were great and plenty as well as the spring rolls. All in all it was good and plenty. We'll be ordering more. Just a shame they're not online.

We've been buying food from Kim and Lisa at the Golden Lion for years. They are delightful people and always greet you warmly. The food is excellent and very reliable. I can really recommend this place and honestly say that I've never had a bad experience.

To be honest the fact that you can order and pick up within 10 minutes does sometimes make me wonder but the food is always nice and we have never needed to complain, they must just be very quick.

Lovely food fresh ingredients would reccomend and banquets are good variety I would personally reccomend beef chow me in the sauce they use is divine

Este lugar está impecable, el personal era muy amable y lo más importante es que la comida era estupenda. He vivido en venta durante 4 años ahora, me hubiese gustado encontrar este lugar antes. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente!

Goldlion es, de lejos, el mejor restaurante Chino en venta. Mi familia y yo comemos aquí regularmente al pedir una comida para llevar. La comida está bastante rápidamente después de haberlo pedido y es siempre caliente, creo que no sólo ha estado una vez en donde los principiantes no eran tan cálido porque habían sido calentado desde el día anterior. La comida de aquí nunca le falta en sabor y es una gran relación calidad-precio, he probado la comida china de unos cuantos lugares y no hay nada comparable a la goldlion. El anfitrión de goldlion es muy amable y siempre recomienda las ofertas especiales y nunca deja de asombrar con su comida increíble, siempre educado y hace que te recomiendo las conversaciones poniendo en sus bromas. Recomendaría el goldlion sobre cualquier otra comida china.

Para nuestra primera visita a el Golden Lion preferimos algunos aspectos más que otros por ejemplo patatas fritas recién hechas eran deliciosos y contribuye salsa picante pero hackable de curry. No es suficiente arroz y de mala calidad, los aperitivos eran los leones los puntos fuertes y las costillas, gambas tostadas y spring rolls fueron exquisitas sin embargo la gamba nórdica galletas saladas sabía como si hubieran comprado del distribuidor. El anfitrión de la Golden Lion era muy amable, pero conseguimos nervioso cuando pedimos bien salsa. te recomiendo dejar las bromas y él sería un anfitrión perfecto. La comida era rápido y en general de buena calidad.

Solicité el crujiente con carne deshebrada en salsa no estaba mal. Era como algo de lo que me esperaba que han estado en la parte inferior del horno de alguien para meses! cremado! No vamos a aquí de nuevo.

Me, my partner and all my friends all agree that the golden lion is the best Chinese in sale. We visit regularly (about once a week) and are never disappointed. We almost always order chips rice and curry but also go for a full blown banquet when treating ourselves.I have never had any issues with the prices as they fall in line with the sale average.The staff are always pleasant every time I visit an I never have to wait very long for my food.The only negative is that they don't deliver but it is always worth the drive to get there

The fried soft noodles I could eat a full bowl of- delicious!I have had a few of the main courses and they are all really nice- chilli and garlic, ok sauce, satay, but my favourite is Szechuan as it's really tasty with a nice tang and is great with chicken of the char Sui pork. I think the ribs are great too- Thai sauce, BBQ sauce- all fab. I think the only let down is the chips - but in my opinion you should have noodles or rice with a Chinese anyway :) I am heading there in 10 mins for my tea tonight!

-Staff are really friendly and efficient.-Food is so so so much better than the surrounding takeaways. Their meat is actual meat rather than pure fat which would explain why some people complain that it's more expensive than local takeaways; the food is of a far better quality.-Don't go to No1 or Wendover for Chinese in this area. Gold Lion Is 10 times better.

Lovely food but a bit expensive for a takeaway. Its a bit hit and miss at this place, some weeks the food is great and others it can be not so good. I am looking for a new takeaway in the area a bit cheaper!
