Golders Hill Park Cafe in Barnet

Place , stuff, service and food are mazing! They only think that is horrible are the toilets but I don't know if they belong to the cafe responsibilities. Most of the toilets don't have working locks, they are never clean, hand dryers are kn very poor condition. Toilets definitely need attention and some maintenance work

Good food, excellent ice creams, very efficiently run, and, best of all, being in Golders Hill Park in Hampstead Heath.

Far exceeded my expectations! Had the most scrumptious meal of a vegetarian lasagne alternative (I forget the name of the dish) and iced tea. Absolutely outstanding for a park cafe. Also offers great views of the heath and the park as you dine!

I had such a fantastic experience at Golders Hill Park Cafe! The flat white was hands down the best I’ve ever had – rich, smooth, and just the perfect temperature. And the pistachio ice cream? Absolutely divine! Creamy with the perfect nutty flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The cafe has such a relaxed atmosphere; it’s the perfect spot to unwind in the park. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

We used to eat here a lot when we lived in London. We were delighted to come back after more than 20 years to find the best spaghetti Bolognese that we remembered!

I couldn't not post a review about this. I visited a week ago and I decided I need to review the most disappointing piece of meal I was given. The shakshuka served to me was just a jar of pasta sauce with two fried eggs on top. That's all I can say about it because that's all there was to it. The price charged for that abomination of a shakshuka has not left me in peace since then.

Really awful bland food and it’s very expensive. Lovely seats inside but doesn’t make up for this overpriced place selling poor quality food. Took 15 minutes to get my coffee too.

We were excited to get a coffee at the park but unfortunately the rude man behind the counter didn’t make us feel welcome & tried to argue with us when we asked to put the sugar in first (so the coffee would melt it as we ordered an iced latte). His response was “the sugar is there, put it in yourself it will melt in an iced latte anyway”, when we got out coffees and said goodbye he just rolled his eyes..

The staff action and gesture don't deserve a star even...The staff action and gesture make you feel like you're not welcome if you don't have the same colour as them. The staff at the counter are absolutely disgraceful. I hope they have the same experience in life as Karma will return to them. Best wishes

Homemade ice creams that you can’t find anywhere else. Slightly pricey but we have to have them 😋 also tried the pizza which was ok.

This guys are so good in terms of ice-cream. Even at the end of summer they are making new flavours. Pear and ginger sorbet is a winner!!! Well done!

The freezers clearly aren’t working properly, but it seems like no one cares. I’ve come several times, hoping that this time the ice cream would be frozen and cold, as it should be, but each time I’ve been served the same melted mess. It's a very unpleasant experience. I hope the management takes action to fix this issue, because otherwise, the desire to come here again is completely gone."

Good food and drink at a fair price.

I recently visited this cafe and was deeply disappointed by the experience. The service was extremely poor, and I felt targeted by the server due to racial bias. The staff a male member who wear glasses in question displayed an unprofessional attitude and made me feel very unwelcome. It's unfortunate to see such behavior in a place that should prioritize customer service and inclusivity. I hope the management addresses this issue seriously, as it negatively impacts the reputation of the business. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful and fair treatment. And I got a response from the store .This is a very interesting response—placing all the blame on the customer with no sign of self-reflection. How can you prove that your staff didn't display a negative attitude or use impolite language? How can you prove that you have satisfied every single customer? Any customer who feels offended in your establishment has the right to comment here, isn't that the purpose of this review function? I experienced a negative attitude from one of your employees, and I don’t need to waste time talking to your manager. Telling the truth here for everyone to see is the result I want.

Food quality is as good as always. Friendly service. Lovely stop for the grandchildren.

Don't bother eating here. Food is expensive and far below acceptable standards. We ordered a beef lasagne and an 'Angus' cheese burger. The lasagne needed a spoon to slop out the microwave runoff and the burger was massively overdone, with the chips being decidedly under done. The establishment appears to be managed by an Italian family and that being the case, their mama would be ashamed of the standard. The best thing about my meal was the Peroni lager. Unless you're looking for drinks or perhaps an ice cream, you should probably avoid.

Food here did the trick, but definitely wasn't worth the £15 I spent here. The bread in my £7 ciabatta was dry & foamy and my drink, which cost £4.40, turned out to comprise chocolate nesquik and ice cubes. They also sell cups of strawberries for £4, at which price I would expect them to be the best-tasting strawberries in the country, the wagyu beef of strawberries, but based on the quality of the food I did buy, I wasn't willing to chance it; they're probably mostly bought by people who don't know how much a punnet of fruit costs at the market. Verdict: tourist trap. Response to response: £15 is a typical amount to pay in London for a cooked meal. It is not what I'd expect to pay for a sandwich, a pastry & a soft drink (and heating a sandwich up in a microwave does not make it a cooked meal).

The best soft serve I've had in a long time. It was very refreshing! I can tell it is made with fresh pastorised milk like their Gelato, and not pre-made bottled soft serve mix. Coffee was great as always!

Prices are outrageous. Many items lack price labels, so I was shocked by the charges at the checkout.

Nicely staffed and a great asset to these visiting Golders Hill Park. Coffees, teas, snacks, meals and outdoor as well as indoor seating. An ice cream parlour is part of the set up too [also, has ice cream for your pooch ;)] ... Toilets available too.

Absolutely horrible, the “burger” is a burned piece of meat on some bread with absolutely nothing else in it. What an insane rip off.

Only had the gelato, and the flavours felt like they were flavourings, and not real banana/watermelon/custard. The texture was pretty good.

A really lovely cafe, they serve everything from cakes to main meals. There's seating inside and out. Most of the cafe was clean and tidy. We just had hot drinks and biscuits.

A little pricey but you're paying a premium to eat in the park. Surprisingly good considering it's a pretty simple park Cafe.

Everythings good but we came around 18:00 and everything was shut except the ice cream stand but online it shows closing time as 19:00

This is a great place to go and have a good meal or a drink plus icecream and enjoy the park.

Discriminated against me. The Equality Act 2010 clearly states assistance dogs are allowed in public spaces. After waiting for 20 mins in line the very rude guy refused to serve me a water and a coffee and kicked me out as i don’t have a guidance dog, just an assistance dog (which btw-illegal). Wasn’t even planning on staying in. Anyhow, i will report this to the authorities. The law clearly states ASSISTANCE dogs are allowed. Not just guidance dogs. I forgot to mention i did show the letter to prove she is an assistance dog but you refused to read it. Also there were zero kids in the queue so your argument is invalid. Your aggressive behaviour towards a female simply looking to purchase a bottle of water is disturbing. I was parched and you refused to spend 10 seconds to sell me a bottle of water after being there for 20 minutes. Not one person complained about my dog. I know for a fact that she is legally allowed since she is allowed everywhere INCLUDING supermarkets but you did not even bother to listen or read the letter. That had nothing to do with the sign. Was all about ego and to prove that you have the upper hand. Ps. assistance dogs by law are not required to wear any identifying equipment or ID tag 😉

Usually amazing food and service! Lovely cafe however today I was one minute past 12 and I was not allowed to order breakfast so heads up very strict with their timings! I was outside feeding my baby from 11:00 but they didn’t seem to care.

It was the ice-cream vendor I went to. Though busy, they had a good system going so readily served and with a smile. The ice cream was splendid though the 'flake' a cheap interpretation which was a pity . A fraction expensive but added delightfully to a sunny day in Golders Hill Park. Thank you

Absolutely loved the view from the cafe, ambience, efficient service and delicious breakfast menu options there. Delicious au pain chocolate and mocha! One of my feedbacks will be to add more options for vegetarians / non eggetarians if possible. Highly recommended.

[Golders Hill Park Café] is located at the corner of [Golders Hill Park]. This restaurant/There are people having breakfast here early in the morning. Spending the morning sitting down/drinking a cup of coffee/eating an ice cream - it must be extremely pleasant!

Our favorite place to eat on Hampstead heath and surrounding areas. it is family run, great home made food and beautiful surroundings of trees and gardens. Fantastic!.

Unbelievable situation has happened in this cafe. In very rude manner one of the member of staff asked me go out as he considered I am sitting too long, didn't know I should explain myself to him. Was coming to this cafe time to time, ordered there food many times but I am allergic and just can't eat most food in the cafe and yes this time I needed place to wait. Very sad that covid didn't give any lesson of humanity and some are still after money so much that ready to be rude and ready to cause pain whenever they want. Just wish to this person in time he needs, or his wife or mother to meet the same experience towards himself. Good to remember as well that this cafe just happened to be there and there is no other choice is given to people what place to choose to go, so people just don't have choice and coming there as it is only cafe in the park, but it doesn't give right to be rude with people thinking you are a king of this place.

This is the second times having my coffee cold . Try to tell them make sure is hot but they ignored . Not good at all.

Very mediocre food and messy ambience. For £12, you get 1 egg and half a deep fried sausage in a Full English. Plenty of bacon and beans. Not recommended unless the weather is brilliant and all else is full.

Nice place but cafe is mediocre. Nice tables outside in the sunshine and good coffee but don't expect 1st rate food. Its OK. The items sound amazing on the menu, but the reality is the usual cafe grub at London prices

We only got the chance to sit a while and have drinks, but we were very impressed with the range of food and quality ice cream they had to offer.. It is in a beautiful setting a too.

Great place to eat, helpful and friendly staff

this cafe/restaurant has an impressive range of food on offer, however it is quite expensive for what you get. i had the pesto pasta, which arrived without cutlery and was cold. it came with a pot of parmesan, which had a weird texture and clumped together. The waiter did not make eye contact or respond when i said thank you. i then went inside to look for cutlery, which i found, but it was not in an obvious place. in my opinion if you are serving a hot meal it should come with cutlery, or the cashier should at least warn you to get cutlery inside before you go to your table outside. in addition to this, may i add that the plastic chairs are too low for the tables which makes it an awkward dining experience, as does the pepper shaker which doesn’t release pepper. i believe the cafe only does so much business because there are no alternatives nearby and it is practical for all of the families visiting the park.

The “barista” behind the coffee machine should do a different job. Rude and unprofessional: the coffee shot ran in 10 seconds and if I ask for a white americano is because I don’t want more milk than water in my drink. Better to ask the customer how much milk he wants. Also when I told him to stop pouring milk he said: this is what white americano is. Needs lots of training.

Great ice cream in the hut next door

Ordered a kids meal - spaghetti, it comes with one small drink and one scoop ice cream but the portion of spaghetti is ridiculously small, and it costs £8.5. Then we ordered another kids meal as the first one was not enough, chicken nuggets, it comes with only 3 pieces and some French fries. It costs also £8.5. And they are not tasty at all. If you just grab a drink and go, then it’s fine. But the food, really not worth to try.

Love this park and have been a regular visitor for 40 years. Nice friendly restaurant where you can meet new people. Lovely flower gardens, mini zoo and children's play area.

Generally not a bad experience, a nice coffee place inside the park, the staff is generally good, the waiting time in the queue is quite long thought. The paninis and the sandwiches were not very apettizing but the pizzas were lovely.

Golders Hill Park café is a little gem in the middle of Northwest London. Cosman and his team do a remarkable job delivering great service and fabulous food. Amazing park. Nice and quiet for families and couples. Don't forget to visit the zoo and the coffee shop next to it.

Tourist trap, avoid. I picked up a bowl of takeaway tuna salad, looks less decent than supermarket tuna salad. No price label, queue for a bit, then I was asked to pay for £11.50! I double checked with the staff, he said yes, it's £11.50. it's much more expensive than freshly prepare salad in the city.

Best place to get an ice-cream in Hampstead Heath with elite ice cream flavors for a hot sunny day in the park. Try blood orange sorbet/ pistachio and thank me later.

The food here can be hit or miss. However, the service is exceptional. The staff are fantastic with their enthusiasm, politeness and efficiency. Also the view is incredible and one of the very best in all of London.

I have edited this review because I'm very annoyed, I drove for an hour to get here and at 16:50 the kitchen is closed. It says on all media that it closes at 17:30. I only eat the spaghetti, and the yogurt with berry's all the hundreds of times I have visited. It's very good. Also ice cream excellent. View over park is wonderful.

I have been going to this Cafe since I was 6 or 7 so 49 plus years now I'm sure the owners have changed over that time under the current stewardship it is well run, affordable(ish) staff are friendly service is good, coffee is great

Ordered the full English, My coffee was served in a cracked cup, had to as to be replaced. My beans were cold and the toast was dry. The heating was off. Good location though. 20th April 2023: I had extra bits that I didn't ask for. Paper under my bacon. Not happy at all.

That was a very bad experience we had, the guy who served us was very rude and was wearing glasses and also I noticed that he talks with another staff with a bad manner. I asked a waiter if he was the manager and he said he is the owner. So even worse. 👎

This is a brilliant place. The people who work there are very friendly and kind and considerate and professional and the food is excellent.

Today my little son asked for a muffin in this cafe, I asked a gentleman at the cashier desk if the muffins are fresh. But there was a lady with black hair and angry face who answered to me in a rude manner: "we don't have unfresh muffins!" And she left away. I told the gentleman that her reaction to my question is not right and she shouldn't be so aggressive. Since that she was shouting at me in the presence of my little son. Absolutely rude attitude to customers.

lovely café in beautiful Golders Hill Park. When the weather’s nice the terrace is gorgeous (and busy).

I wouldn't recommend this cafe to anyone with young children. Some nursery staff with about 6 babies were sat on the table next to us. The adults had offered food and drink from the cafe but had brought the babies their own food due to the multiple dietary requirements and allergies. A rude member of staff told them ( despite being paying customers) they had to leave and use a bench in the park because the baby food did not come from the cafe. The member of staff was then rude to me also when I pointed out how rude he was being to the women and doing so infront of babies. I do not know why these women were targeted as many tables had people eating food from the cafe but had lunchboxes for their toddlers because the food at the cafe was not very baby/toddler friendly. I will be avoiding in future.

Home made fresh food - soup of day - pasta dishes - quality burgers - vegan friendly - deserts - home made ice cream also served from hatch weather permitting - dog friendly large outside space with dog bowls under the many al fresco tables - great view of the park

Nice building, nice pleasant service and good surroundings. The coffee and food has been disappointing the last few times I’ve been there. Eggs Benedict with over cooked eggs and only a drizzling of hollandaise. Bitter coffee. The non-dairy ice cream is pretty watery, there’s much nicer options on the market now.

Very bad experience because of the very rude owner! The stuff working there was very friendly, but again, the owner ruined the overall experience. I have heard him saying less than nice words to the customers and he seemed equally as unpleasant to the stuff on shift. I will definitely never come back there again.

I visited the Golders Hill Park Cafe many time. Today I had the Shakshuka, and it was delicious. Member of staff are always very friendly and professional.

Nice location, horrible coffee - overroasted to the core (and the place is a cafe, right?). Haven't tried their food.
