Bilash in Barnet

Have been coming to Bilash since I was a small child! It's our go-to for a quick Indian fix. Their food is always delicious, the staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere definitely takes you back to India. I only wish they were also open for lunch as we always patiently wait till 5:30pm. Their prices are also very VERY reasonable!!!

Fabulous food... Old fashioned and perfect... You won't find a better or cheaper Indian restaurant than here.

If you like your food brown then this place is for you. Everything is brown, the prawns are brown the sauce is brown the chicken is brown. Everything was gritty, grainy, earthy and brown. Did I mention everything was brown? On the plus side it’s cheap.

We were looking for a traditional British Indian restaurant and were so satisfied with this restaurant! The host was great and the food very tasty! Prices are reasonable too! Overall great experience and would definitely come back!

The restaurant is extremely run down. It did not smell nice. I regretted going in there straight away with family. I only went based on google review and that was an error. Even though there was only one other table other than us on a saturday night the food took ages to arrive. The food was poor. The tandoori chicken tasted old and extremely odd. It was not cooked in a tandoor oven. The curries were marginally better. To be honest i could not get out fast enough. There was only one guy front of house. He tried his best. The food is very cheap but even then quality is poor. As i did not touch the tandoori chicken they did not charge for it. I tried to pay but they refused. The restaurants heart is in the right place but clearly they have fallen on hard times. A real shame

me and my partner went for diner the food was cold and was not the dishes we requested, prawn puree/tikka puree was overpowered with spices puree was made of parata, meat curry was runny and chicken biriani chicken was smelling old, waiter seen we did not touch our food after few bites he did not even check on us to see if we was ok, he kept on watching us not eating he was rude did not care. when we ask for the bill he just hand us the bill, was not concern why we did not eat or ask for takeaway box. this place serves worse indian food ever, we went the thinking its bengali owner must know his food well, but it was a total waste of money and time!!

BIR at its best. The lamb saag is the best I've experienced. Quite salty but spinach needs the saltiness - the lamb meat is generous and comes in chunks. I like the bindi, cauliflower curries, chicken tikka (main) and prawn puri (TBH,, they should deep fry the chapati). To say the prices are reasonable and grt value is an understatement. I usually buy 2 portions of each to have the next day. TBH, it should 4*-5* but I only get the takeaway. If you eat in, the decor dates back to the 80s which migth be a bit of surprise so, a 4* overall.

Read so many reviews before coming after a local friend recommended it and said it’s really good . Well it was really good actually quite liked the decor took me back to a time when things were really great not like nowadays. Food was great , portions generous , service was attentive but not overbearing considering he was on his own he was great. I will come back not had the bill yet but I doubt scary. Thanks Bilash 😋

Worst restaurant in all over London. Poor service,poor food and Money grabbing staff. Tandoori roti was smelling because of using old dough and can't make any shape.

Great lamb bhuna tailored to my taste and great friendly waiter that says how it is giving recommendations and advice about the food served and the the life outside. Reasonable price and good atmosphere. I will definitely go again when back in the area.

We get delivery from here often, the owner is always very friendly and the food is great. He always remembers us. Dined in a couple of times and it's got character.

Refused a service because my address meant him going in a lift. I have two children and didn’t want to drag them downstairs in the rain.

Have been attending this little restaurant for the past 6 years a little dated with the decoration therefore an update would not go amiss Also get first class service Good clean food full of flavour and good size portions

Been a customer hear for over 10 years. They take really good care with their food and in 10 years I can say Iv never had one complaint. They even keep a record of what you last ordered so that when you call again its easer to order the same thing. The restaurant decor is dated but that's the charm of the place, the dim lighting and Indian music with dark wooden furniture it's a good place. I trust this place even during covid I know that the manager won't mess about and will keep a tight ship when it comes to safety. I hope others try this place out and love it like I do.

Nice waiter the food was okay my wifes dish was nice but my chicken was really overdone but they did not some money off the bill . Toilets need sorting out dont think theyve been painted since they opened .

Great atmosphere and lovely food. I was initially put off by the fact they had no beer on tap but the ice cold Cobra bottles that are over 1 pint eased my concerns. The waiter/owner is a great guy who holds his own in a right and interesting conversation

On business in the local area and stumbled on this place. OK it’s a bit 1980’s, but what’s wrong with that. It’s the food that matters! Really friendly and well priced good food with significant portions. Give it go !!

When you want to experience family run restaurant, this is the place to try. They have been operating for decades and you can see that the furniture is dated (not old/dirty ) Food however is fresh very clean and flavoursome ! Staff member is very knowledgable about the dishes and I appreciate his interaction with the guests .. I would come here again

1st time visit, live close by for years now, food was excellent!! Very very happy! Authentic flavours and colours, dishes not weighed down with onions, which was refreshing! Great customer service from owner, will definitely go again, and will recommend friends.

A very old school curry house....like a flashback to the 90's but if you can ignore the decor the food is really good and very reasonable in price. Good service too.

Colindale struggles for good quality grub. Of the handful of restaurants on the High Street, ignoring the multitude of fried chicken establishments, this is a passable Indian. It's reasonable priced and offers a broad menu of Indian cuisine which probably, like the restaurant, hasn't been updated since 1982. Still if you are after a reasonable Indian, you won't be disappointed. Maybe not one for a sepcial occasion.

First time here tonight and it's going to be a regular night ! Food was absolutely gorgeous , fresh and well presented . Staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor is a bit dated but it gave it a really rustic old school feel . Definitely recommend this .

In side of the restaurant is out dated and not clean place to eat inside . Food is not the best it’s ok they can do better on the quality and standards.

If you want a good traditional indian meal in a traditional setting, then this is the place to go. Take a trip back to the 80's with the red velvet chairs and flock wallpaper. You can also request a blow heater if its a little chilly!! Good attentive service and reasonably priced.

Delightful small intimate traditional Indian. Thankfully not the pseudo modern cuisine, but honest food reasonably priced.

although the restaurant inside is not that nice and its so dated it feels like you are back in the 80's, THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY IMPECABLE!! AMAZING FOOD EVERYTIME!!! THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND POLITE AND NICE PEOPLE. THE FOOD SERIOUSLY IS ONE OF THE BEST INDIANS IVE HAD AND IVE HAD MANY MANY...WELL DONE.

Have ordered from here for over 5 years, and always received great quality yummy food, it's very reasonably priced. The restaurant itself could do with an update, but this doesn't bother me as I always get my meal to take away. Definitely one of the best around the area.

Have been using this as a restaurant, also delivery for years. The Chicken Shaslick is lovley cooked in a charcol oven with onion and peppers and the Bindi Bhaji (okra) is tasty and also mushroom Bhaji as side dishes. Nice Nans the Onion one is a fave. Reasonable prices.

The place is a tired, poorly lit, poorly decorated, unkempt tip. The service is lacklustre, unwelcoming and disappointing. The food gets the 4 stars on its own. Great curry, great naans, proper bit of good grub. Go in blindfolded and eat the food. We came back and so will you. Although the the mould in the toilets could do with a clean up 😂 hope the kitchens cleaner.

This is the sort of place I remember from my childhood in Bradford. Hasn't quite got the carpet wallpaper but its got the old school backlight pictures and dark wood thing going on. The curries are not really what I want, sometimes OK sometimes a bit watery. I find the chicken a bit tough and poor quality. It is cheap, and you get what you pay for I suppose. The staff a friendly though

We decided to try our local Indian restaurant today. We were the first customers and the only one for a while. The curries were ok, but it was lacking atmosphere. Price was quite cheap. The waiter was polite, but probably bored as it wasn't very busy.

Girlfriend loves the place. They make a decent allo parata. This is our regular Indian restaurant. Beers slightly pricey

Called in after a few beers whilst away with work and after reading the reviews on TA. I have to say that the food and service were fine. What let the Bilash down is the dated 70's decor.. All dark wood and feels a bit gloomy and oppressive. Also, the toilets are a disgrace, and I would strongly recommend that the owner sorts this out. I would give the Bilash a 4 if basing it on the food and value for money (extremely cheap), but feel that a 3 is fair given the surroundings

Im giving it 5 star because for this area its got to be one of the local favourite indians.Pretty much anyone i know eats here as the service is always great, foods lovely and at a reasonable price! I remember one time me and my boyfriend were just finishing eating here and it was very late, the restaurant were starting to pack up and the delivery man had just said his goodbyes. The manager received a phone call and though they weren't meant to be taking orders he went in & pleaded with the chef and i heard him telling the chef he would drop it on his way home. Now thats going beyond and i know its not because the restaurant needed that extra 20 quid or whatever that bad , the manager is just that lovely of a guy.

Tried while staying at nearby Premier Inn on basis of decent reviews First impression was surprise at how dated the decor was. Food was very so so. Nice crispy onion bhajis. Curries OK but not particularly tastyService unenthusiastic.

This spot produced some superb food for sure, can't argue with that. Having said that the place was dead and it made for a strange evening that wasn't pleasant in my opinion sorry!

Delicious food every time. Service is excellent when eating in. Can be a long wait to have it delivered but always worth the wait. Ken was very helpful advising my daughter when she first started to eat curries. Definitely worth a visit, you will go back. :)

This is our local Indian and never fails to deliver fantastic quality at a very reasonable price. One of my favorite restaurants in London.

order a takeaway on 15/10/2014 at 6pm had to phone them again .5pm to ask where it was turned up 5 mins later paid for it with no explanation on why later. when i went to dish it up c everything covered in sauce so called as for manager they said was not there so told them what had happened and asked for my money back he told me to wait till delivery drive came back and he would call which he did , he was rude to which i asked for my money back he want the food back i said he could have it back the sauce was now leaking out the bag when he arrived back he was rude again i will never use this curry house again they took over an hour an half time before this event and another 2 phone calls no explanation again dont get mugged off by this place go somewhere else bad sevice and bad attitude have been using this company nearly 3years and to treat a loyal customer this way

Most relaxed Indian restaurant I have been ever...... Food is straight out the top draw,and the service can not be faulted..... Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone..... Give it a go.

went to this restaurant for the first time...the atmosphere and warm welcoming of staff was outstanding..when coming to the food..I would say they need more effort in delivering the exact spices...ordered chicken bhuna and all I got is a thick onion curry with bland chicken pieces...no flavour at all...but I'll be going to try some other dishes hoping they'll deliver the right flavours

Indian food tends to be on the heavy side, so I was surprised when the curries we ordered here turned out to be so delicious and creamy yet light! We ordered from this restaurant many times after that, and every time the quality has been excellent, everything was tasty and cooked perfectly. Sadly they don't do delivery, but it remains a great option for dinner if you're in the neighbourhood!

I have eaten in this restaurant several times. It is a throwback to the 80s, the food is as it was in "Indian" restaurants of my youth. Prices are very reasonable.However on the first occasion we ate here the food was OK so back we went a few times until we were happy to take a group of friends who love old fashioned English Indian.On this last visit most of us suffered the following morning......Shame really it had been rather a change from the Kingsbury curry houses.

This just does it for me every time, The Keema peas are so authentic and the Chicken Buna with a side of Bangalore phal sauce is unreal.Oh and the garlic nan is very different to the normal bland pre-made variation at rival restaurants nearbyThe service is just great and the beers are so cold and crispyThe best in the area and amazing value.,Eigthties prices !!!You can't go wrong here !

Their tandoori chicken is succulent and lamb in vindaloo curry very tender, they taste great too. Every few weeks we excitedly order these to take away as a fancy family dinner, because we all find their food delicious!
