Golden Sea in Calderdale

Went Saturday evening the lady in front of house said to us she is the only staff serving ind 2 cooking . She was absolutely brilliant she never stopped the service was excellent and the food was excellent. Well done .

Absolutely gorgeous food can't rate them highly enough. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Try the Pak far rolls....wow!!! Highly recommended

After much searching and research to find a Chinese Restaurant we decided on the Golden Sea Chinese Restaurant Brighouse and travelled from Ossett .The journey was well worth making as the food was excellent, the service and staff first class and will be returning soon .

Spent £21 bought Singapore Noodles salt & pepper chicken, curry sauce, chips and BBQ ribs im from Huddersfield read reviews and was sold But i was very dissappointed especially with salt & pepper chicken, normally when I buy from elsewhere the chicken is in small pieces its crispy on a bed of chilies onions but this was bland & in strips not crispy, curry sauce was flavourless and watery,

Today was my first visit to golden sea and I had a splendid meal. I ordered the duck soup and the mixed sweet and sour for main with fried rice, all the dishes were fresh and delicious. Excellent value for money. The lady who served me was friendly and helpful, and helped me with anything that I needed. I will definitely be back would recommend 100 percent.

First visit since March. As ever fantastic food n service and great portions. This great place needs a visit for a takeaway at the moment. Can not fault you.

What can I say! Amazing tasty food! With excellent service! Ive been to a few different Chinese restaurants but this is the best! Quiet But really nice!

Not been for years but always thought a reasonable place and was open on Monday whereas all other Chinese where shut. 2 adults and 2 teens we had mixed appetizers for starter and Wow better than any before we all agreed, succulent bbq ribs, freshly made satay sticks mmmmm, spring rolls, prawn toast seaweed and prawns in deep fried . Way better than we ever had in the past, then we had special fried rice, chicken chow mein, sizzling chicken black bean and chicken breast and chips, we all got plenty everything was fresh and hot and we all ate every scrap. Reasonable price, no pressure to get tips and very friendly. Could have done with heating on and would benefit from a bit of music maybe and decor but that's an ideal world and would make it too popular and maybe go down in quality. Would recommend and definitely be my first choice for Chinese in Brighouse area.

My husband and I popped in for our tea last night (8th May). It was very quiet but that didn’t bother us at all. The restaurant was spotless and very well presented. The lady that looked after us was very attentive and brought us some prawn crackers while we chose what we wanted to eat. Our food and drinks orders were placed quickly as I was really hungry. We had a Gin & Tonic and a pint of cola. It didn’t take long for our drinks and starters to arrive. I had chicken and sweetcorn soup and my hubby had the salt and pepper prawns. They were pipping hot and tasted delicious. Once we had finished we were asked if we wanted to wait for the next course but I was happy to have it straight away. We had chicken and bean sprouts, duck in orange sauce, and fried rice to share. It was all absolutely gorgeous. The duck was so tender and not fatty at all. Everything was perfect and very reasonably priced. Our total bill was £31 (which we thought was very reasonable). We will definitely be back soon. We noticed when we were leaving that they have a free car park too.

We went tonight after reading the other trip advisor reviews. Spot on guys. Thankyou! standout dishes were the salt & pepper chicken wings and duck and prawn stuffing. The waitress was non intrusive and very efficient. Can’t fault it for authentic chinese food. Will definitely be back!

We went there last Sunday after reading some great reviews on trip advisor. We were very impressed, the waitress was very welcoming , friendly and helpful with our choice of food . We can only rate the food as excellent. On a points scale It was 10 out of 10.

The staff are extremely attentive and most helpful The food is good but the soup is something else, served in an enormous turine and piping hot. GREAT

Called tonight for a meal. Found a very nice member of staff opening the door to greet us. Was shown to the table and given the menu. We were not rushed to order. We were asked if we wanted a drink so we ordered our drink. The menu has a wide variety to choose from. Once we had ordered our food came piping hot and we enjoyed our two courses.

We visited here for the first time last night and the food was lovely.

Asked for table for 7. Told they do not do big party's. Asked for a table for 3 and a 4, told chef cannot accommodate so many people! Seriously, how does this place survive? Do they not want customers????

A friend invited my hubby and myself to a meal here i have to say we had a fantastic meal excellent hot food very pleasant staff,excellent service.

Blink and YOU WILL miss the Golden Sea. Fortunately we had the restaurant recommended to us by family so knew exactly where it was. We were greeted by smiling friendly staff who were patient while we chose from the menu as we had a 7 and 10 years old with us so had to explain the menu. It was in English but bless them first timers to Chinese food. Everything came piping hot, freshly cooked and very tasty. Nice clean loos as well. Interesting to see they served 'take away' which proved to be popular although it was the same price as eating in ?? However both courses were lovely and the little ones had clean plates as did we too. Always a sign of a decent meal. A small gripe is the fact that a little more heating would benefit as I noticed other customers were feeling the cold too. As this is a take away too it would be a good idea to have a website so the menu could be chosen before entering which would speed up the process but all in all have no hesitation in recommending GOLDEN SEA and we will definitely be returning.

Just returned from our first visit for a meal and would like to say we had a fantastic meal, excellent hot food with great service. All at a very reasonable price.

Escribo esta crítica con un poco de corazón pesado para ser honesto. Fuimos aquí en una noche de miércoles en torno a 2000, que fueron las únicas personas en el restaurante. Ahora la primera cosa que puedo decir que el servicio fue excelente en todo (así que éramos las únicas personas en supongo), pero, sinceramente, nos estaban muy bien cuidados. La decoración y las mesas están un poco cansado, me temo que no ha tenido mucha inversión en bastante tiempo.

Fantástica comida, imprescindible para cualquiera o cualquier familia. Todo lo que podría mejorar este lugar es un poco ambiente, tenían música tradicional pero era demasiado tranquilo, si algo podría mejorar este lugar sería para ellos la música. Me sentía un poco como una biblioteca. Sin duda volveré

Fui al restaurante prueba y fue absolutamente genial! Teníamos un cuarto de pato crujiente y aromático algunos rollitos de primavera para comenzar. Este era delicioso! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Luego tuvimos carne crujiente con salsa de chili y char chow mein con sui cerdo arroz frito con algunos. Era tan buena, el tamaño de las porciones, estábamos llenos y tuvimos que dejar algunos como pensamos que podría pop! El servicio era genial, muy atento pero sin ser agobiante. Gran precio. Recomiendo encarecidamente! !

Nos apetecía celebrar el Año Nuevo Chino con amigos, pero no quería una comida para llevar. Previamente a la Gran Muralla (al otro lado de la carretera desde aquí) y estaba lejos de impresionados, así que decidimos probar. Leí las críticas variadas, pero decidimos darle una oportunidad. Me alegro tanto de haberlo hecho. Este restaurante es luminoso, impecablemente limpio y bien ventilado. El personal, cortés, amable y atento, sin ser yéndose así y la calidad de la comida es impecable. Hay algo en el menú para todos los gustos. Teníamos, entre otras cosas: sopa caliente y amarga, una caliente y uno no tan de carne, pato refractario en salsa de ciruela, chow mien, rollitos de primavera (2 tipos) con salsas, arroz, mojar la llanura huevo frito arroz, un plato enorme de las mejores patatas fritas que he comido y algunas otras cosas, porque no nos esperábamos el tamaño de las porciones a ser tan generoso para los precios. Su pan de gambas eran sorprendentemente fresco pero al mismo tiempo suaves y regresaría solo para ellos, mmm. ! La cerveza no está en proyecto, pero hay una variedad razonable; ya que es para no alcohólicas. Este lugar tiene su propio aparcamiento, parece que hay un montón más de aparcamiento en la calle. Menos abled personas deben ser conscientes de que hay un par de pasos hacia el restaurante y que el inmaculadamente limpias loos están subiendo un tramo de escaleras. Todos pasamos una noche estupenda y sin duda volveremos pronto.

Seen the restaurant over the years but usually use another in brighouse. We were back in the uk and decided to try this one. Seven of us visited and were not disappointed. Good service and very good food. Would certainly go again.

Now my usually choice would be for Peking style Chinese food but our favorite in Brighouse The Great Wall was closed for renovations, so desperate for something Chinese we decided to give this venue a try out.Well although we had to wait quite a while as they were short staffed and the restaurant was overbooked, the food was very acceptable, once you overcome the fact that it is a different style of food.We were a party of four and we all had soup starters and then four main courses, 2 vegetarian and two chicken dishes, I was quite impressed.The bill for four was £48.00 and that included prawn crackers, Chinese tea and large diet cokes.The restaurant is nicely presented without all the usual oversized dragons coming in at you off the walls, but rather like your own front living room which was rather refreshing.All in all a very pleasant support act, and will go there again if my usual is closed.

I visited the restaurant for the first time last night and as the reviews point out it wasnot overly busy. A polite young lady asked us where we would like to sit and efficiently took our drinks order.We ordered the special banquet - what a FEAST! I had the hot and sour soup then for the 2 of us we could order FOUR items from about EIGHT...we got ribs, wings, prawn toast and salt & pepper prawns. Then followed the duck and pancakes. We were even asked if we would like more pancakes which we declined. We were absolutely full - so we asked for the mains to be cooked & packed up to take home.Service was excellent and the main waitress told us that customer service is the most important to them - they would rather turn customers away than have a full restaurant as they want to look after everyone to the highest standard. She recommended to book at weekends.I will definetly return!

Love this place. The food is beautiful, fresh, tasty...I could go on and on with compliments.The staff are so polite and friendly and would do anything they could to make your dining experience perfect. The first time I went I was a little worried as the restaurant was SO QUIET - it always is- this normally worries me...but I have been loads of times and not once have I had a bad meal. Please don't be put off by how quiet this place is....it really is lovely tasty food, served by lovely people.

My wife and I were disappointed with this restaurant.We were famished and ready for a good meal. We had read reports on Trip Advisor which suggested good food at reasonable prices. Certainly the welcome was warm and the single waitress tried so hard to please but she was on her own and had to rush about covering so many tables at the same time as handling "take a way' orders.Our "sharer" starter was superb and my wife's accompanying glass of port was very cheap (just £1.50) but our main courses were not up to the mark, indeed distinctly bland.I had Sizzling Chicken, Peppers and Black Bean Ssauce and my wife had a Duck Chow Mein. We left feeling dissatisfied but didn't wish to complain as the waitress was run off her feet during our hour long stay.

Very, very pleasant staff who do their best to make your visit as good as possible. The food is excellent and the full bar available is a bonus. This restaurant should be extremely busy as it's got it's own car park!

We've never had anything but great food & friendly service here.On this visit, we once again had the special banquet for two. The selection of dishes to choose from is very good with 4 courses (soup, appetisers, duck & a main each with rice)....& a bottle of wine included as well - really good value & would highly reccomend it.

Tried every resteraunt in Brighouse, no luck even Subway was closed called in here and we were made so welcome. The food was to die for and the lady who waited on our table was so polite and helpful will definately return. Very large portions we were offered a bag to take our food home, which our daughter ate the next day and really enjoyed. Thanks to all staff at Golden Sea you made our night.

We usually eat in and always enjoy the food. The staff are friendly and helpful. Last night we decided to get a takeaway. We had Chicken & Sweetcorn soup to start which was lovely, thick and tasty. I got Salt and Pepper King Prawns with Noodles for main course. The prawns were big and juicy and the noodles perfect. The other main was Fillet Steak Cantonese Style, lots of it, very tasty. There was plenty of sauce and onions and the rice was cooked to perfection. Really good quality meal

Just been to Golden Sea for the first time. It was the nicest chinese food I have had in a long time. The service was excellent and quick. Would highly recommend this restaurant. It is far superior to the Great Wall with the sauces light and not gloopy at all. Please give it a try as eating is believing.

Superb Chinese food and first class service. Always very busy so may be as well to book. Convenient town centre location with plenty of road-side parking nearby.

Me and my partner called in here one evening after reading the previous reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was beautiful and the staff really friendly, we had a set meal for two and even swapped one of the main courses. Will defiantly be returning. Can't not fault anything from the soup to the 4 main course dishes.

This was a beautiful meal, the lady who served me was so polite and friendly. Very attentive. The food was beautiful. It was unfortunately very cold but don't let that put you off.

We've been big fans of golden sea for 3 years. The food always tastes amazing and our most recent visit was no different. I had the barbecue spare ribs and Kung po duck. The ribs were really meaty and tasty with big portions and the duck wasn't fatty at all. My wife had prawn toast and king prawn with green peppers in blackbean sauce. The prawns are huge and the sauce was really tasty. This is a family business and it's clear they put a lot of care into their food. Nothing is too much trouble. We'll be back again next week.

Really good food and atmosphere. We were surprised that it was not busier. I suspect the competition in the local area might offer a cheaper menu BUT you pay for good quality and this is really authentic high quality Chinese food.The service was outstanding with our waitress attending to every need , polite, courteous and helpful.I would strongly recommend the Special banquet meal package for out standing value for money.We will definitely frequent the Golden Sea on a regular basis.

I always come here for a great meal and outstanding service. Staff are a little over-polite at times but that's nice now and again :) I'm just about to book again with a few friends of ours for tomorrow evening so if you're in Sat 8th Nov /wave!TopTip: Skewered chicken with OK sauce is just to die for!

We visit this restaurant regularly and can not understand why is't so quiet, they always offer excellent food and service and the owner is super polite. Would definitely recommend people to visit :)

Would not let us in as we had our children! As soon as we opened the door we was turned away? They claimed they were too busy There was only one couple in the dinning room! Disgustin!!!!

Turned up with 6 other friends for a takeaway as it had good reviews and the lady was very rude and refused to take anymore then three orders at a time as they where short staffed! Waste of time would not go back again

Excellent food and service!!Had the banquet all three of us changed a few causes no problem at all heating on so warm just a bit quiet!this is our second visit and it's same as the first!The lady owner is so polite credit to you!Thank you, keep up the hard work!

Been so many times and can't believe it is so quiet. Food is great not greasy like the better rated Chinese across the road. I so wish more people would try it great food lovely owner try it and let me know if you are disappointed

Having heard this was a great Chinese we thought we would give it a go one night mid-week.We should have paid attention to all the signs and given it a miss. Firstly, on a busy evening the car park was empty. Then as we walked up the steps, we saw that every room was lit up full beam, as if the cleaners were in. When we walked into the ground floor restaurant it felt, for all the world like a school canteen with table cloths.This place has absolutely no atmosphere. With the lights glaring it was just like being in a supermarket. We were sat on one corner - the only other two diners were sat in the opposite corner. All night we could hear everything they said - they weren't being loud, it was just that there was just no intimacy in this place. Nothing except stark white lighting and a vast expanse of space.The food we ordered was bland, uninteresting and just about the worst Chinese I've ever eaten.There was nothing about it that I could recommend - it was just perfunctory stomach filler. I had satay chicken (greasy - no peanut taste), Orange chicken (yawn) and rice. My partner had dumpling soup (tasteless) and beef in black bean (dreary).The shame of all of this was that the waitress was such a lovely, lovely person. She was attentive, friendly, smiley and overall the only thing that this restaurant has going for it. Without her this review would have been a one star, and I have never given one of those before.There is much better out there, Hussains and Meze etc. I have no idea why this comes so highly recommended, it really was dull. We will not be making a return - such a shame - our first disappointment in Brighouse.

Lovely little place as a restraunt or takeaway the food is always excellent and good quality. The staff are always lovely and friendly too.
