Golden River in Halton

This used to be a Lovely Chippy so not sure what's happened maybe New Management but the Singapore Vermicelli was one of the Worst Meals we have ever had, Dry Tasteless and Really Poor, Curry was the only Decent thing we had.. Such a shame will NOT be Returning..

Fed up of being sent wrong orders just sent last 1 back & they just re warmed the chips ( limp & Greasy ) ordered a chip barm & just received chips when I asked why was told they had run out of barns. Really shoddy service

This isn’t called Golden River it actually called Langdale fish bar so really a cross between chippy and Chinese. I noticed no customers really follow social distancing and no one wore a face mask I was the only one with one in. The Chinese food was nice and reasonably priced but trip advisor sends you to the wrong location ok Chinese worth trying but need better enforcement re face masks

This chippy is actually called Langdale Fish Bar. I don’t know why they have yet to update their name on the web. Anyway, we visited the shop to try their food. Not fantastic but not bad either. I hope they’re going to upgrade their system and will take payment by card next time for convenience.

It's a chinese takeaway. Decent prices with big portion sizes, excellent menu and it's up there with the tastiest I've ever had.

I have used most of the better Chinese Takeaway in Runcorn and this is by far the best. Food Great quality, Delivery 40 minutes on average compared with over an hour from others. Always hot, friendly staff. For a takeaway you cant fault it. AAAAAA******

Its your typical Chinese takeaway, sometimes lovely other times a bit bland! It has certainly changed in the last year or so!

Great place for a quick meal. The battered fish comes by the yard.....they are so big and scrumptious they hang off the sides of the plate. Sampled a variety of the dishes over time and they have always been good.

I've always liked going to "langy chippy" but delivery is terrible, they missed food from my order and then took ages to send it and i was charged extra !! I won't be using them again 😤

This place is so good I sometimes make a 10 mile trip just for the Chinese curry! All other dishes are great too but I can't stop ordering my all time favourite

Having visited other fast food establishments in the area and found them disappointing. I approached the Golden RIver with trepidation. I need not have worried. The fish and chips are superb and their Chinese dishes equally so. All food seems freshly prepared and not just reheated. A great find and I will definitely be back. Well done to all who work there.

Used regularly for chips, ribs, mushroom, fried rice and chow mein dishes - spicy curry sause is a must

When visiting a friend we fancied some fish and chips. The Golden River was recommended by another friend. I was dubious when I realised it was a Chinese takeaway but the fish were top class ! Lovely crispy well cooked batter and tasty fish. Generous portions too. The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the peas which were too green and not like the dried peas which I steep to make mushy peas. Quick and efficient service, lots of staff !

Happy staff, busy(due to popularity) but courteous. worth a ten minute wait while your meal is freshly prepared. good delicious portions, l have never been disappointed, especially when we have friends or family visiting us and we treat them to a take-away. Top Scran!

Sells the usual Chinese/Chip shop takeaway food, with a few Thai dishes. Always busy in the evenings, so food is usually freshly cooked, but be prepared to wait for Chinese. Portions are usually big.

After being recommended to us we tried this takeaway - one word Excellent.Fantastic selection on the menu and reasonably priced. Food was piping hot when delivered. Great portion sizes, amazing flavours- look forward to eating here more often

Haven't been to Langdale for a while but was happy to give it a try as our local one was closed. Sorry to say but the food is distinctly average. The chicken was poor quality and rubbery, whilst the rest of it was tasteless. Half of the order was thrown away. Feels like I've been mugged.

Been this chippy a few times and it's quite good. It's a bit dearer than other chippys in the area. The only fault I have with it is you should check that you have all you order. Twice now we've got home only to find something missing that we've been charged for. Very annoying when you're buying for a few people. Sometimes they pack your order out of sight so unless you empty the bag there and then ( which most people wouldn't dream of doing) you don't realise till its to late.

I only ever went the dolphin but changed tonight to here because the wait was 90 minutes.This was about 40 but omg worth the wait.Langy all the way! So tasty, proper peas, I can still taste it 2 hours later

Starving. Ravenous. Wanted something quick, hot, tasty and fishy. I was dribbling at the thought of a battered cod, hot chips and some mild curry sauce. I tripped over my shoe upon entering i was that overcome with excitement... 'Fish and chips please'... 'Sowwy we have no fish'... 'Oh. Ok. Er. I'll just have chips please with a carton of curry'... Needless to say i left with one portion of chips and a carton of curry. I'll be going back to K Lee next time- you can be sure if they have no fish there you'll find Shirley Chum wading in the local canal pulling them out herself with her knashers- she wont let you down.

We have a rule in my family - s/he who pays... picks. It's chippy night and I'm paying so I'm picking Golden River. Portions are generous and good selection of Chinese as well as English dishes. The only criticism is the staff (although very speedy and very friendly) can be a little bit eager to add salt and vinegar on the chips even when they ask and I decline. It's happened a couple of times now - not the end of the world granted but not what I ordered.

The portions are very big, but I think I'd prefer quality rather than quantity. Don't get me wrong, it's ok, but nothing special. The food was delivered quickly and the staff I spoke to we're helpful. I'd go again, but not in a hurry

I won't get Chinese food from anywhere else in Runcorn now. The shredded beef with chilli sauce is really good.

Been going here for years won't go anywhere else. Staff are fantastic food is mmmmmmmm. Food is nice and fresh too x

This is our local chipshop, food is lovely and tasty and really good portion sizes. Would definitely recommend it!

We have been using Golden River [and its previous versions] for many many years. Must say it just keeps getting better and better. Great staff, great value

This chippy is very good. The meals are top class, and very generous in portion size. Unlike the majority of chippys, the fish at Golden River is really nice and cooked fresh. Not left lying round for days after been cooked. I have never had a bad meal from here. And is always very moreish

Really good quality food. Only slight disappointments are the prawn toast with no sesame seeds on and the pre-shredded aromatic duck. Don't shred it! Lovely food and good service, definitely the best Chinese in Runcorn and a 5 hygiene rating too!
