Sorry don’t really leave reviews that often but the chips where cold and greasy, beef curry was bland with no option of having egg fried rice so even more bland boiled rice the kebab burger was taste less that’s from my 10 year old and they pizza was ok it came quick but I won’t be ordering from there again sorry guys it’s a no from me if you can’t get the chips right what can you get right

Really lovely chinese meal. Delivered on time and hot. Really generous portions too. Love the vegetable spring rolls. Really peppery!

Chicken Fried rice was sloppy it was more like rice pudding it all went in the bin disgusting it was.

All the food was stone cold and the pie was cold and hard like was done waste money so no tea bin it not good for someone with eating disorder

Ordered online and was told it would be ready 6:45 got there and was told it would be another ten minutes, staff just stood on their phone. Got my food at 7:20 got home 5 minute drive and everything other than the rice was cold, called to tell them and was asked to bring all the food back and they would change it. Not good enough after it was late and cold, no offering of anything and was told “what do you want me to do”. Food also isn’t as nice as it used to be char Sui fried rice was literally char Sui and rice normally there’d be peas and other bits added in but just basic, tasteless and crap

Ordered chicken chow main tasted burnt not nice atall prawn crackers where greesey couldn't eat any of it won't be going back should of taken it back but couldn't be bothered

Food is god awful. The lady who served me was sound the lady who was with her who I think is manager didn't seem so pleasant. Not sure how clean it is actually seemed quite dirty and if somewhere closer was open I would have left.

Absolutely vile ! Fish smelt like a wet dog and tasted like one. Most of the chips had eyes. They sent coke zero instead of coke and I'm allergic to aspartame. Paid £12.90 for half a bag of chips

Its been 2 years since I last went to chestnut lodge chippy after the dreadful service I had last time,so I thought why not try again as its under new management might be better. How wrong i was. Went in 1 person in the shop 1 person behind the counter and there was 1 person in the kitchen, went in and there was no yes sir can I take your order or nothing I waited to be served and nothing as I walked out in disgust. I work in the food industry and if I kept people waiting or not interact with the customer then I would be shot (figure os speech) I have worked in this industry for a very long time and this to me was bad customer service. Sorry not trying again if they can't interact with customers

Food was rank! Food arrived cold and tastered old. Ended up binning it. These people need better standards or just stay out the business.

Bit disappointed in food quality .. chips tasted like warm ups, and full of black eyes, couldn’t eat them … Spring rolls was really nice though .. not sure I’d order from here again

The worst chip shop I’ve ever been too…. Scallops raw, chips like rubber, and fish simply over cooked and disgusting to say the least. Walked back in to get a refund and when I walked back out they laughed at me….. now I know why everyone slates this place so much….. I thrown everything in the bin….. I will never return….. pure filth.

Girl behind the counter is NOT ready to serve customers, she needs more training she was completely lost. They messed the order up completely, and when questioned they argued back when it was clearly wrong. (We asked do you serve fish strips, they said yes, we ordered them. They then made normal fish which we didn't want, they also put the fishcake on the wrong food and added someone else's order to ours) and then when they passed the food to use they didnt even tell us the price they where just stood there staring at us??? the New management are a joke this place wont last 5 minutes. Worst chippy in Widnes. Also fyi a guy bought a sausage and said it was horrible so avoid that.

Not even worth 1 star, absolutely utterly disgusting food and service. To begin with the 4 staff were stood staring at us making it very awkward when trying to select our food. The salt and pepper chicken I got was somehow well overcooked, very chewy and difficult to swallow, but the batter was soft and gooey. Disgusting!! Girlfriends meal fared no better, her chips where practically raw on the middle, and she seemingly only received a desert spoon full of gravy over the top. The whole thing went in the bin, never again. This used to be a top notch chippy, no more!!

How can you destroy salt and pepper chips the boiled rice was just a gooey white brick and special curry had a bit of beef 1 shrimp and not a lot more covered by congealed curry

Has an awful meal last week -chicken very chewy and two pieces of pineapple in chicken and pineapple. No cashew nuts that I had requested to be added even though we were charged for them and crispy duck had no spring onions or cucumber with it- when I rang to complain the lady said she would put a note on our address for 2 free meals but when rang up this week the lady didn’t remember and nothing has been written down. It was like we were telling lies! Luckily the chef remembered I think and we got our meals free- which were very tasty and had cashew nuts in.

Absolutely disgusting. How can you get a simple chips, mushy peas and gravy so wrong?! Chips were somehow very brown on the outside but raw potato in the middle, peas were just garden peas and the gravy tasted like sweat. I wondered why the place was empty when I walked in and now I know why.

The chippy has undergone new owners in the last few months and unfortunately went downhill. I ordered dinner meat today, half of it is cold and tasteless and the other half is sat in a greasy broth. The chips were anaemic and for peak times after 1700 you’d expect the chips to be ready to go. Had to wait 10 mins for chips which unfortunately were then rushed out the fryer.

I wish I could give 0 stars honestly ordered a Chinese which tasted nothing like a Chinese salt and pepper box was sweaty and everything tasted like it was soaked in vinegar even the dog wouldn’t eat it 10/10 would not recommend what a waste of money also for a ‘’ salt and pepper box’’ there was close to no seasoning on anything in there I don’t have a clue how this has a 3* rating absolutely piss poor

if i could give 0 stars i would, i am not a person who will ever complain but when received it smelt of pure sweat, went home and plated it up and thought nothing of it, when we sat down to eat this it had 0 taste and chicken looked and felt as though it was uncooked. i called about this to see if i could receive a refund as we ordered for a celebration and it all went in the bin so we had to order from somewhere else basically threw £40 straight in the bin. they refused a refund and said the only thing we can do is receive a free takeaway, i declined as i will never be ordering from here again and would never recommend. absolutely disgusting. later looked at reviews and seen other peoples complaints and that they also had a 1 star food rating. would not recommend.

Salt pepper chicken like sweat from dead man ball

Simple call in after work for salt & pepper ribs, salt & pepper chips! Ribs were simply laced with American red salt & some onion & peppers! Exactly the same with the chips! Honestly the worst salt & pepper items I have ever ordered nationwide & that’s some statement! If you not going to do it properly then just close & stop taking peoples money for absolutely rubbish food. Previous reviews say it all! This chippy has gone terrible since George’s departure

Fish was batter salt and pepper chips was just orange Mexican burger had no taste or no ingredients as described never ever again

Nice place if you are looking for a quick bite to eat and the donner kebabs are yummy mmmm staff are always happy to help with any unique requirements that you may have.

Don't.. I've used this place for nearly 30 years and I can't believe what I've been charged nearly 16quid for..absolute fu##ing garbage!!!

Ordered food took over an hour to arrive was stone cold items missing and when we phoned the woman on the phone laughed and still didn't send out all the missing items.

The meal I got last night special fried rice was nothing like what I have had before for the same meal. Rice was wet & cloggy very dark and extremely salty the pork was slimy and gristly. There was a small amount of omelette folded in . Instead of two fried eggs it was totally disgusting 🤢 couldn’t eat it I paid £13:50 for this slip, and couldn’t eat it. I have complained on line no response . I have looked at the food hygiene rating on line for this Buisness and it shows a 1 rating needs a lot of improvement. If it’s that bad it should be shut down . Since it’s new ownership it’s standards have gone really down hill in the 35 years I’ve used this chip shop it’s been ok but this is the second time I’ve been let down on a food order by this new ownership. I will never buy or eat from this place ever again. My taste buds still haven’t recovered from that terrible taste of over salty ness. In my eyes I think it should be closed down if it’s food hygiene standards are that low.

First and last time !!!. Chips and donner kebab. Soggy chips, burnt pitta bread, cheap donner meat. And the staff 3 females. Miserable,non friendly service, felt I was asking for their left arm by placing an order. Will not return.

Had our last few Chinese takeaways from here inc. the Beef spring onion and chicken fried rice absolutely lovely also the fish and chips. Best fried rice very tasty 5***** especially for a chippy.

Ordered special curry with boiled rice and portion chips normally charged 10.20 but was charged 11.70 on querying advised now have to pay separate for boiled rice when ordering a meal..so disappointed have been a customer for years but this increase is too much especially when if order online it says rice or chips are included with meal ? very disappointed food is lovely but with the increase can order for delivery from other good takeaways and still save money 🤷‍♀️

21 minutes to cook: Sausage Dinner Fish and Peas Fish and Chips Small Curry Since George got found out and had to leave, this chippy has become a total joke. Don't expect to be out within 10 minutes, ever. Nothing to do with staff, everything to do with it's owners. Joke of a place, only keep going there because its local.

Ordered on line never had the food. Took money from account still hank Marvin never use them again shocking staff are sorry as they management are

Mixed kebab with chips chicken was tough and dry could not eat chips were only Luke warm and like left over chips from the bottom of yesterday's left overs the portion was very small too the donner meat was about the only thing ok with the whole meal very dissatisfied

Quickly become one of our favourite takeaways. Super service and top notch food. The menu is extensive with meals for every taste. Everything we have had has been superb. Definitely worth a visit

Got a donner kebab from here. When I opened it at home the pitta bread fell apart and looked like it had been cut open with a blunt spoon ! The donner meat was at best warm. Also one of the delivery drivers was behind the counter loading chips into boxes for an order. Not very hygienic. Seem to be only bothered about the delivery’s so I won’t be bothering them with my custom again.

Absolutely disgusted, ordered 2 Singapore vermicelli at 18h00, delivered at 20h45. Phoned the chippee twice, the first time they told me it was on the way. An hour later I phoned again, they had not seen my order, and said they would prepare and send straight away. Being lied to and waiting 2h45 mins is absolutely disgusting.

Waited for our delivery to arrive .... Ordered at 6.30 waited till 7.30 then tried to call the chippy 78 engaged calls later ( worse than doctors ) i gave up so come 8pm went to collect our order only to be told that it had only just been done !!!!! ..... definitely won't be ordering from here again ..... very disappointed 😞 😔

The best prawn fried rice in town, light, fluffy and very tasty and they don't skimp on the prawns. Smashing 🙂

I've always liked to support our local chippy, but last time the fish was very greasy. Thought would give them another chance tonight, but the fish was actually rotton and smelly. Phoned to complain but all they could do was offer more fish that we'd have to go out again to collect. No thanks, and will go somewhere else next time. Bring back George!

Never have i had burnt Donnor meat untill today and I definitely do not recommend

We just got a delivery from use with slimy chips, some raw abs oil/ greasy “Pizza” that we couldn’t even taste pizza or toppings and we have all been sick 🤮, I have Don a poor review on Just Eat

For the last 6 years I've been visiting at least once a week. Generally very happy with the food and service. Unfortunately my wife has just been in and ordered the roast duck which is £6.70 on the printed menus in store and on their website. My wife waited 25 minutes for her food and was charged £10.50 for the dish! She advised in store that the menus showed a much lower price but was simply told the price has gone up. Ultimately if you're going to hike prices by 40% you need to advise at the point the dish is ordered and ensure your menus reflect this. We could also have ordered and paid fir this dish on uber for £8.50. Very disappointed at the service we've received tonight as previously loyal customers.

Recent visit was after a long time due to covid but, the food is still good even though no prices shown on boards with new prices possibly due to changing hands. Very busy on the phone uber eats, just eat etc.

Just ordered from here and picked up Vermicelli and my wife had a fish and peas Very oily vermicelli used to be amazing under George My wife is still being violently sick after eating the fish Won’t be returning

Placed an order (quiet Monday) and got a 90 minute delivery time. Received call back 5 minutes before expecting the order saying that there is a problem with the kitchen and could we accept English food. Just weird. Cancelled order.

Nice fish and chips and other food

Although I didn't have food delivered, I recognize the driver from there, he thought it would be ok to urinate opposite my house on the grass. I wonder who's food is lucky enough to have his hands on it next! Glad I don't order from here.

Food was nice bbq sauce was very thick.. staff were quite rude when ordering saying “what do you want” no manners one staff was yawning her head off and hand wasn’t over mouth no masks on staff either

Just ordered 3 burgers delivery was excellent, the food however was horrendous my burger was cheap processed meat, taste disgusting and it was burnt, into the bin, and not a lettuce leaf insight.. never again

Ordered through uber order arrived 3 meals missing phoned shop told what was missing they said do you want refund or the rest sending out I said send it out waited over hour still no food tryed for half an hour ignoring the phone so went to the shop very abrupt with meso I said give me refund or food that's missing after a battle I got refund will not order from there any more

If I could give zero stars I would. Pre ordered on Uber Eats for delivery at 6pm. At 6.15 still no order had arrived. Rang the restaurant where an abrupt and rude person answered the phone and said the order was out for delivery. By 7.00 it had still not arrived. Rang the shop again and a man answered who said the delivery was out and I couldn't have a refund. He then put me on to another woman who told me the delivery was out. Then 2 minutes later she admitted that the order hadn't even been started! PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SHAMBLES OF A SET UP

Ordered chicken and sweetcorn soup,prawn crackers,scallop and chop suey roll. when it arrived after an hour and 10 mins late than it meant to arrive by it was cold with just soup juice with just like spring onions in with no chicken or sweetcorn at all, prawn crackers that was rock hard and no scallop and the chop suey roll tasted so wrong. No apologies for being late aswell. So disappointed.

Can't be bothered explaining my whole experience. Ordered food to be delivered at 6pm. Still not arrived as I'm writing this. Rang up twice, lied to twice when they said it was out with the delivery driver only to finally admit it hadn't even been started! Please do not waste your hard earned money because you'll be very disappointed

Asked for Chips, peas and onion mushroom gravy. There was 1 small mushroom and a few slithers of onion in a large portion. Bad rip off!

If you have a choice of going here or not eating, then starve! Waited over 2 hours after ordering via Uber Eats. Chased this up 4 times, and was lied to on every single occasion, quite rudely also by female members of staff. One saying " I am not sure what you want me to do about it!" It finally arrived it was terrible plus some items in the order were missing. Never again, George built up a decent business but current owners have taken it to the depths. One thing I would like to say is the Uber Eats driver, Zach I think he said his name was,was really good and apologetic, I actually felt sorry for him as he was the only driver they have and the staff all seemed to be blaming him behind his back.

I placed an order via user eats at 18.30. 19.30 and still no sign of the order. I phoned and was told they were busy and hadn't processed my order yet but would put it on straight away and get it out. 20.10 I phoned back as the user eats app was still saying preparing. I was told it had left. I phoned again at 20.50 to see where it was and was told it hadn't left as I was first told and it was still in the shop. Stay away and never use this place!!

Ordered on Uber Eats, food was over an hour late. Rang several times (15+ times) with no answer (just disconnects after 10+ rings or someone puts the phone down). Food finally showed up, no apology or so much as a word from the driver, and food was practically cold. Never again.

Absolutely awful service. Ordered on just eat . Food should have been delivered in 30 minutes from order. 1 1/2 hours later still no order. rang to ask how long and had the phone put down. Rang back and to be told that it will be another 30mins till the food ticket goes to the kitchen for cooking then delivery. Staff very rude on the phone. Told them to cancel and then they changed their order status to delivered. Then had to ring just eat to get money back.

Ordered food at 5:15 waited an hour and a half past the estimated delivery for it to turn up lukewarm with a half hearted apology from the driver saying if we have a problem it's not his fault and we have to contact the "restraunt" ourselves. If I could give it 0 stars i would. Strongly recommend no one orders here

Ordered food at 6.15 for delivery (on uber )was meant to be here at 7.15 its now 8.55 and still no food tried calling about 30 times and no one is answering the phone (have being in contact with uber and they have confirmed they had my order and there is no problem on there side and they can not get hold of them either) never ordering from here again I would like my money back what a joke this place is

Stopped doing duck on the bone and stopped including chips with it. I've used this chippy for years only because it has been one of only places to sell the duck on the bone. Well not now 😐

Nobody wearing a mask staff or customers. Nobody observing social distancing. Nobody following the 3 people on the premises at any one time. And nobody enforcing the rules. And to top it all the chilli beef was decidedly bland.

Not been in this chippy for a couple of months due to it going downhill and thought I'd give it another chance.. And nothing change... Save your hard earned money and go a decent chippy.
