Amazing fish and chips! Perhaps the best I’ve ever had yet. Despite being a takeaway only establishment, upon arriving home an hour later, the fish is still hot and crispy enough. Scampi tastes so great! The chips does get a bit soggy due to the added vinegar but still great too!

So wish I could enthuse about this pla(i)ce. The couple who own it are simply lovely and have been here years. The food, however, is poor. Batter is a very unappetising looking grey-brown and always very greasy. Chips are always soggy and greasy. Portions are good, however. I'm not expecting double cooked chips in this old school type of place, but they need longer. 10 mins in a hot oven and they're good. Everything is tightly wrapped in paper, which doesn't help. Fish in a box please, even if you have to charge 50p extra for it. I'm still a regular customer, as it's the only proper F&C near home, but I'd be more even more regular if they raised their game.

The fries were soggy and without salt. The fish was dry and tasteless. The breading is too greasy, but it does not dominate the amount of ruby. This is a plus because you buy breaded fish and not breaded fish. Unfortunately, the fish lost its freshness in the freezer. Google ratings directed me here. One star for the correct amount of fish in the fish and the fact that the dish is filling.

My husband and I were visiting Bath from Australia. As Aussies we love our fish and chips but we enjoyed Golden Plaice so much I couldn’t not leave a review because these are the best fish and chips we’ve had! First time having chips with curry sauce too and, yum.

Such large portions for a regular size of orders, they're very generous with their portions and the price is absolutely brilliant for Bath! I highly recommend this place. The chicken nuggets are to die for and they sell more than just fish and nuggets. It's all really good quality, portion size and value. So much cheaper than my usual Plymouth based haunt where you can pay North of £17 for chips, curry sauce and fish...

High hopes after all the reviews. Very nice folk, for sure. Medium cod was fine, but the chips were just awful. Flabby, pale and greasy. Give them 3 mins in super hot oil, and they'd be fantastic. I think I'll have to drive, not walk for good fish and chips in Bath.

Came in late on a Friday just as they were closing up. However, no hesitation in serving us even though they had to freshly fry our order. Super friendly and good value. My dad said it was the best fish and chips he’s ever had! We were in an Airbnb across the road and could see from our window how popular this place is with the locals. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

I visit Bath almost every Friday and treat myself to fish and chips from the Golden Plaice. It has to be the BEST fish and chips around. Portions are amazing. Prices are so good. You really should give them a try! You will not be disappointed. Added bonus, they are a really friendly couple. Absolute delight to visit. Put the pans away and treat yourself too.

Since I moved to Bath I’ve been somewhat of a regular over the last two years and the food has always been consistent. In my books it’s the best fish and chips takeaway in Bath! Both fish and chips are cooked to perfection. None of this soggy chip business. Owner is super friendly and always greets you with a smile. Another bonus is that they also accept card payments.

We visited yesterday. Delicious fish, cooked well so it was flakey, not rubbery like lots of other places. Mushy peas, curry sauce and chips were also delicious. Large portions and sensible prices. Highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this lovely establishment while staying in Bath. Thursday night is Pie night! Pie, chips and mushy peas a fiver!! Fantastic service from a very polite, happy gentleman. Food was lovely and well worth the visit. Would highly recommend.

I visited Golden Plaice for the first time last week, and really enjoyed the fish and chips. The menu offers classic British fish and chip staples, and does not disappoint. We had a battered cod, large portion of chips, mushy peas and a sausage. Everything was hot and tasty. The cod, in particular, was very sweet and the batter was spot on. The chips were chunky and filled with sweet potato. The proprietor is friendly and chatty, the food served quickly - everything you need for a good fish and chips shop! Definitely recommended!

We used to go here when we lived in walking distance as the food, the price, the quality and the service was excellent. We now live the other side of town but still drive all the way back over there whenever we want chips as it is quite literally the best place in town !
