Very good food eaten there a couple of times food is good staff are friendly

First time of using this fish and chip shop. ALL of the 4 fish were over cooked, were a horrible shade of brown and full of grease. The paper bag the whole order was placed in leaked grease all over my grandsons track suit bottoms. A really bad experience and very expensive waisted meal. I will not be going there again.

The best place to get your fish and chips. All cooked fresh and very generous portions. We visit every Friday and have never been disappointed.

You receive a good sized portion it's OK. I don't think there is another chip shop locally.

The food was fair although a bit greasy portions were fantastic could finish the chips. Prices were around normal 4 stars out of 5

Even though the service from here is excellent the food is disgusting. The chips tasted like they were 3 days old and a very strange colour. The fish was extremely overcooked and very greasy l Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Won't be returning

Just picked up fish and chips from this place because our normal one was closed in Ashtead. They were swimming in fat, utterly disgusting we could not eat them, the fish tasted stale. 30quid down the drain. Will not be returning and do not recommend after what we got this evening. Potions big but prefer less for it to be nice .

Today I tried first time this shop because lemon fish is closed . I ordered 4 cob large fishes .all are tasteless brown cod fish . No crispy …wasted my money.I throw all in the bin. Never ever go in this shop.

Took my neice and nephews to this place never again the chips were tasteless the cod was still swimming in dirty oil The chicken nuggets were like cardboard Very disappointed The worst I've ever eaten The chicken burger well the roll you could have smashed a window with it the burger was like a rock with a layer of oil between the batter Bonus they give you FREE prawn crackers If you want to eat a free bag of tasteless burnt and taste of dirty oil £25 down the pan literally

First time having this fish and chips, would never have it again. Chips were brown, soggy and warm even though cooked fresh. Fish was caked in batter which fell off was extremely dark and when touched would ooze oil. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. I don’t write reviews but felt the need as this is really bad.

Totally disgusted, the oil is so dirty , even my chips where covered in this colour I definitely won’t be returning , think health and safety need to visit this place

I had a very lovely meal from here, annoyingly I do have to say that the fish was a bit oily. But the chips on the other hand where very good. We also got some free prawn crackers as well. Would use again.

By far the worst chip shop I have ever had the displeasure to experience. Service seems fair, quality of food was quite offensive. Chips were somehow simultaneously overcooked yet undercooked and left an oily taste of disdain lingering on the pallete for a good couple of hours. I mean, how do you get chips so wrong?? I couldn't muster the fortitude of getting through even half the small bag that was provided. Had to bin most of them. The fish was overdone and batter was burnt. He spring roll was not worth mentioning really. I still can't get over the chips. Never again. Curious on the positive food quality reviews though 🤔 Colleagues have gone on different days and we're left wanting. Perplexed at the regular customers.

Chips were OK, battered sausage good, however the savaloy hadn't been kept in water, therefore hard and rubbery.

Stopped off for fish and chips, very disappointed. As others have said the oil was disgusting & looked like it had come out of a well used car, it desperately needed changing. The chips soggy & skin still on the fish. First and last time for us

First time using this chippie in years, really wish we hadn’t. The chips were greasy and soggy and the fish was worse. There was so much grease on it we had to dry it with paper towel. The oil coming off was a horrible coffee colour so I assume the oil hasn’t been changed for a long time. Couldn’t eat all the chips they were so soggy and tasteless., the fish wasn’t much better. Already feeling sick from all the grease and only ate 15 mins ago. Won’t be returning

Stopped to get some chips. They were soggy, the oil was dirty (deffo needed changing) and the odd chip was still raw! So pleased we didn't order any fish. First and last time for us.

We have been using this plaice for years however the last order was extremely disappointing. We ordered two medium cod however the fish was absolutely tiny, it could have fit easily on a small tea plate…. Usually a medium cod would be hanging off a dinner plate! No idea what has happened and why the quality has reduced so much. Such a shame.

We came from slough and is 100% recomended food was 10 out of 10 we had the below Curry sauce, chips, savaloy, cheese burger, veg spring roll 100% recomended. everything was perfect also service by nicole was pleasant and spot on thank you

Been going here for ten years pluse, always delicious, amazing portion size, great prices, very friendly staff, highly recommended, - certainly my favourite chippy in Leatherhead. Parking right outside.

I stopped here for a mid week lunch as a treat. I got a half chips and a sausage. The lady was nice and brought my food to my car after it was ready. The sausage was nice, and the chips were OK. It was cheap - around the 3 quid mark, and that price lands it a 4 star rating because you get what you pay for, and for what I paid it was good grub.

Ordered cod and chips x2 , was the worst I’ve ever had , soggy , filthy chips , burnt over cooked fish . Took them back and complained they said the fish okay and gave us more chips Exactly the same inedible . THREW IT ALL AWAY BEWARE ....DO NOT USE

Delicious food and good service from the staff!

Went here today as in 40 years of various ownerships the food had always been good.sadly today it want good at all. The oil was well used resulting in soggy chips and batter that was far too dark. In these times you’ve got o be spot on, quality food at a good price otherwise you will only get the customer once. Off to try Michaels in bookham next time. Real shame 😟

I love the fish and chips from this place and I go here in preference to another, nearer, fish and chip shop. I've found that the portions are bigger and the food is less greasy than elsewhere.

Good food cooked quickly, unfailingly friendly

I suspect there might be something wrong with the fryer's thermostat perhaps as the batter was brown, overcooked (with a strange bitter taste) and the fish chewy. Chips were soggy with grease and brown, and some were a bit hard which means they were undercooked. There was nothing 'golden' about my dinner :( Having said I rarely eat fish and chips, it doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about. My great grandmother ran a fish and chip shop in the West Country and I am very familiar of the fabulous fish and chips served-up as a matter of course in Yorkshire. It pains me that the South can't compare with the North in the matter of our national dish. It may help if the cook at Golden Plaice take a trip to Wetwang (Deep Blue Fish and Chips - formerly Harpers), Sullivans in Beverley, or the incomparable Magpie Cafe (though that's a bit posh) in Whitby, to see what fish and chips is meant to be like. Sorry, Golden Place, your staff are friendly but food ghastly.

Like others have mentioned this place has fantastic fish but really the chips are not that good better than some chippys but nit all i think next time i will get my fish from here but chips in kebab shop nearby which i knlw do fantastic chips the fish in here is very nicely cooked many have said its greasy ITS A REAL FISH AND CHIP SHOP WHAT FO YOU EXPECT?? All in all great fish and great service good price to i recommend you buy the fish here but chips im afraid kebab shop is bettet

I came here on a Saturday evening to get take away and I was a bit disappointed after the good reviews on google. The chips were under cooked and too soft, they went mushy and felt to pieces when you tried to pick them up and the fish was too crispy and tasted burnt.

Just as I like my fish & chips & I phone through 5 mins before hand & it’s ready with a smile. Great value

We always go here when we decide to have fish and chips. It's not local to where we live but we are happy to drive to it rather than use our local chippy. We always get very high quality food and the staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend giving them a try.

Disappointed with the chips greasy!

We have had a couple of meals here and although service is good the food is not great. Fish has been dripping in fat and not great.

Good fish and absolutely massive helpings of chips. Extremely oily, which is a concern for me. Even so, they use clean oil every day. Definitely a "chippy with a difference".

Personal amable ofrece una buena variedad de pescado, patatas fritas y productos complementarios. Se puede llegar en coche hasta la puerta y en pocos minutos. La comida está bien cocinado y servido en generosas porciones. Suelen dar gratis un paquete de galletas saladas de gambas para ir con su comida.

Lots of ok chips, good fish, good curry sauce, good price. It's one of the only chippies in Leatherhead and it does a good job. Can't complain!

We buy fish and chips from here every two weeks while visiting my mother in-law. It's always perfect,cooked to order with the best batter I've ever eaten. Fantastic chips served by fantastic people. The best in Leatherhead area.
