Having read the previous “suspiciously worded”reviews about the Golden Phoenix I have never had a problem with waiting times or the quality of the food. The previous review may have been google translated to max 😉 I have been a regular customer for three years. The food is fresh hot and very tasty. The menu is widely varied and the owners freely promote new dishes on the menu.. Tried the others in area with disappointing results. Unfortunately they don’t take cards and that in the current climate needs to change ASAP!

Love the food and they tell us which items are MSG free. Best Chinese takeaway in the area, in our opinion. Good value for money.

This is an excellent takeaway serving very good quality food. Staff very friendly and helpful. If you fancy something slightly different to your normal Chinese takeaway, this is the place to go

Menu has recently had an overhaul, and the addition of some Malaysian dishes mean this is now our go-to takeaway! Friendly management, and really good food at a reasonable price.

Been visiting golden pheonix for a few years as its one of the only chinese takeaways that understands gluten free. Recently changed hands and is now even better.

We were staying in the local area and found a menu for Goldern Phoenix at the place where we were staying I phoned my order through but there was a times some confusion with their numbers and what dishes matched what. Maybe it was my accent that confused them. Anyway we brought our dishes back The king prawn fried rice... had a burnt taste to it according to my sister. The other fried rice dishes seemed OK to those who had them. The sweet and sour chicken was OK but not great. We also got a dish we didn't order But the most "interesting" dish was what we thought might be duck in plum sauce. The sauce was very pale in colour sorted smelled like a plum come sweet and sour sauce and then in the sauce was oblong objects which I think were duck coated in some strange coating.. Which I think they forgot to deep fry.. not a pleasant taste at all. They say a good sign of how well a place is, is by how busy it is. This place was dead when we went A disappointing experience to say the least. Will be trying other Chinese places in the area next time.

It was terrible tonight, have had good ones though, cold and a lot of money for very mediocre food, do better please, it’s a special treat for our family

Wasn't expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised! Really enjoyed it. The aromatic pork pancake rolls, top recommendation

Will never go back, when we got home and opened the bag there was no chips and we had chicken chow main instead of chicken foo young. The sweet and sour chicken sauce was bland, the chow main was very greasy and lacking in substance other than noddles and the spring roll was extremely greasy, almost £26 wasted

I ordered house special fried rice it had virtually no flavour at all and was lukewarm. I also ordered Chinese spareribs these were awful The meat was hard and stale and the ribs were just warmed up and poured very weak sauce over the top I rang and complained and I was told if you don’t like them don’t bloody buy them. As a Chinese chef. This person is a disgrace to Chinese food he certainly does not know how to cook will never ever go there again.
