They have a buffet menu on a Sunday bit different to others as it’s a set menu, sometimes you’re offered more starters sometimes not. However the food was really nice, it might help for staff to ask if they want more starters/mains Can be very noisy when busy as it’s a small place, the take away menu is second to none

Terribly rude staff, really dirty carpet, very average food, felt like being there was putting the staff out.Not worth the visit shame really with it bring fathers day.

We went because we heard that the food was good. We usually go to the Tung Fong in Worsley which we thought would take some beating but surprisingly it did. The food is delicious. They were short staffed though and I felt sorry for the two girls that were rushed off their feet, but they were doing all they could on such a busy night. The price list is amazing compared to a lot of other decent restaurants and we will certainly be back.

not great, visited as a family of 16 booked prior so was expecting us. Staff was very rude kept telling me she was too busy when i asked her for my child's starter id paid for and was told someone else on my table must have eaten it (they didn't). starter never came and was still charged for this, staff refused to believe she didn't recieve this despite her not having it in front of her. We went the all you can eat sunday menu was never offered more food and asked for more mixed starter as my daughter and son was starving at this point and was made to look like an effort despite again paying for this service. Waited over half an hour for the mains after this and when asked they asked 'oh do you want your mains now' - we never asked for a break? all food was served 2 chips was forgotten, a portion of noodles and 4 portions of rice! they brought these out promptly when noticed then forgot my main beef in black bean. by the time this was recieved my sides was freezing and the beef was rock hard. We all gave up at this point as they wasn't listening to the complaints. paid the bill of 260!!!! and left. Waste of money and awful service. wouldn't recommend if in a huge group. Not very child friendly either.

One of the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time! Everything was amazing from chicken satay to ribs!! We haven’t eaten in yet but definitely will be! Also affordable too. Sorry I didn’t take pictures are it too fast it was amazing

Fantastic Chinese restaurant and take away, I’ve been searching for a Chinese for ages that does a dark rich beef in black bean sauce and this place nails it, full of flavour and the chow mein noodles and Singapore fried rice is delicious too. Would highly recommend to anyone, great job golden kitchen 👍🏻 100% my new favourite Chinese (Update) ordered here again recently, was told 45minutes to an hour, 2 hours later and multiple calls I had to go and order from my local Chinese. When I rang the final time and said my order was late nearly two hours the woman who answered laughed down the phone and another lady took the phone off her and continued the call with no apology. We were told the order had left multiple times when calling to see where it was and the delivery driver told us when he arrived that he’d picked the food up 15 minutes ago, which means we were lied to multiple times. We had to send the driver away with the food in the end. People can accept the truth, what they can’t accept is being lied to and taken advantage of, if you are so busy that you can’t stay on top of orders then you shouldn’t take ordered onboard or at the very least be honest that delivery times could take up to two hours. So disappointed as I thought I’d found a fantastic Chinese but have been let down massively. Please please value your customers guys, this kind of service is unacceptable. Happy to amend my review but you need to Improve in order for me to do so. Value your customers and dont become complacent

Decent Chinese, don't think we've ever had a bad meal. Cons - bit pricey. Their app and website don't work very well which is a bit annoying. Can sometimes wait quite a long time to get delivered.

all the meat in all the dishes like chewing gum. not edible. also all tastes like vinegar. one of the worst Chinese food i ever had. the fanta was good and cold.

Visited this restaurant on Father’s Day with my dad (92) daughter and sister. it’s my dad’s favourite place to eat especially the Sunday banquet which is such good value for money! The chicken and sweetcorn soup is lovely, the mixed platter is gorgeous the chicken satay skewers are my favourite on it, you can ask for another platter if you want one then you pick your main with rice noodles etc. you also get coffee or ice cream. The staff are lovely and so welcoming. Definitely be making another visit soon!

Orderd salt and pepper ribs.i know it says salt and pepper but this was too salty to eat and overly dry!presentation was not good either.when I called them, to explain , they were just rude and said that they made that order for two people and the other person wanted extra salty! Very un proffesional

This was absolutely gorgeous. We went on a Sunday, so it was a buffet all you can eat. But you chose what you wanted like soup & you got a mixed platter and what ever mains you wanted cooked fresh and brought to your table. You could have as many,soup,starters & mains you wanted and continue to order more. But we found one dish each or different dishes that we shared to be plantyful. Because they serve big portions. Staff was polite and helpful. Place was nice and clean and was a nice atmosphere. Will for sure go here again.

We had a takeaway tonight and would never have it again it was revolting! The chips were cremated, the chicken was dry and we couldnt even chew the ribs!

Its nice to have a Chinese restaurant here in Salford and this one does it very nicely. Weather you want a large portion of food or something unique to taste you cant go wrong here :) Will be coming back soon

Booked in advance, didn't need to, only two other tables occupied. Unfortunately the staff matched the atmosphere which was very gloomy. They literally all stood at the bar and watched us have our meal which was very uncomfortable. Very overpriced for what was served, average food for the majority of what we had and some of the food was even below average, they mixed our main course order up too, but asked if we would be ok with it. Will definitely not be going again.

Best Chinese restaurant in Salford!

Food is excellent. I had the salt n pepper spare ribs as a starter and i highly recommend them. Later came the sweet n sour king prawns and that dish was first class.

AMAZING GORGEOUS EACH AND EVERY TIME WE GO

We had two soups, rice and some unidentifiable curry. Won ton soup was watery and tasteless. The hot and sour soup tasted after fish sauce mixed with bbq sauce. Boiled rice had a funny aftertaste and we did not want to risk trying that curry.

Although the restaurant was near empty and featured very outdated decor, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Golden Kitchen - it was one of the best Chinese restaurants that I have been to in a while. The food took a while to arrive, which wasn’t great given the near emptiness of the restaurant, but perhaps that was due to the busyness of the take-away service. For starters we had pork and prawn dumplings, ribs, duck spring rolls, and chicken and sweetcorn soup. Everything was delicious and served in very generous portions. My dumplings were huge, piping hot, and really meaty - delicious. My Dad was so enamoured with his ribs that he barely spoke as he was eating them! I also tried a duck spring roll, which was very tasty. Similarly, all of the main dishes were served in generous portions and were piping hot. Although they did take a while to arrive, everything was excellent. My beef in black bean sauce was delicious, and the egg fried rice was very moist. My boyfriend loved his chair sui pork fried rice, and we couldn’t stop picking at my sister’s crispy duck pancakes - it was addictive!! My parents also really enjoyed their meal. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody - although the decor is a little outdated and the service wasn’t dry fast, everything seemed clean and every member of staff was professional and polite. The menu choice is extensive and reasonably-priced, and every dish that we ordered was outstanding. Perhaps book your table a little earlier than when you intend to eat, but don’t let that stop you from visiting this great Chinese restaurant!

Our first visit, 26.08.2020, will definitely not be our last to this little jem that hides itself away in a group of shops at the side of a busy road. Friendly, attentive, staff welcome you as you enter a nicely decorated restaurant with a pleasant layout comprising alcoves, a secluded area and the main dining area. Service is extremely efficient, with none of the clock watching so prevalent in other restaurants, even in quiet periods. (maybe some waiters and waitresses wrongly believe that keeping customers waiting suggests a higher level of quality to their service. Having been a waiter in some of the UK's top restaurants I can assure them they are mistaken, and the Golden Kitchen can teach them how service should be performed.) The food is fresh, hot, and delicious, served by staff who want you to enjoy your meal and presumably prepared by kitchen staff who share that desire. Presentation is adequate and without pretense. Unfortunately this extends to the presentation of the bill, with no attempts to offer hand towels, mints or fortune cookies but the cost of the meal reflects this fact. Our meal for two, ignoring the current eat out to help out discount, cost far less than the same menu at two of our favourite chinese restaurants which only partially explains why we will be making the short trip to the Golden Kitchen a regular occurrence from now on. For some reason we recieved egg fried rice with our main course instead of boiled rice but that didn't harm our meal at all. The beer list could be improved, as could the choice of wines, but that's not why people got to restaurants, that's what pubs are for. ---------‐‐--------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE December 2021. The service at this 'local chinese' restaurant has somehow managed to improve beyond the high standards the staff and owners set themselves when we first visited over a year ago. Not only are the staff willing to change menu items, but actually encourage clients to mix dished and sauces to the clients preference. The Golden Kitchen is a true gem and its good to see the client base supporting the restaurant in the 'covid' period which has forced the closure of so many places. I am surprised that there aren't as many locals eating here as one would expect and so far we have never had to wait for a table (although we tend to book in advance we also drop in without booking). If you're in the area and fancy a relatively inexpensive chinese then this would be my recommendation. there are other restaurants within a 15 to 20 min drive (this is technically suburbia but given the amount of traffic it might as well be the city centre!) but non of them can offer the cuisine, service and value for money that this charming little restaurant gives to all of its customers.

Really impressed with everything from Golden Kitchen. Arrived on time and piping hot/still crispy. Based upon another review, we ordered the Aromatic Crispy Duck and it's one of the best I've ever had from a takeaway. My veggie spring rolls were incredibly tasty and not a hint of grease on the crispy pastry. The ribs were full of flavour and the Beef and Black Bean was really balanced and tasty (black bean can often be overpowering), with nicely tender beef. Both fried rice dishes were also top notch. This will now be our regular Chinese takeaway!

Food and services is always great from here. Highly recommend the plum duck, it is delicious.

Definitely the best Chinese in the area. We dined in and it's a lovely restaurant inside with great service. We had the mixed starter, along with salt and pepper ribs and spring rolls, and all were delicious. I love salt and pepper and the flavour and texture here was one of the best. Crispy duck followed and it was excellent, well presented and cooked perfectly. We had crispy chilli beef and sweet and sour chicken to follow. The beef was a bit too crispy for my taste, but the flavour was great. The sweet and sour was nicely balanced and very tasty. Our eyeballs we're bigger than our stomachs though and we had to take a few bits home with us. Overall very tasty food, will definitely come again.

As we had family travelling up for Fathers Day from the Midlands, we decided to order our food instead of cooking. Phoned the order through at 5.45 pm and was told we could pick our order up at 6.30 pm. Drove down and my stepdaughter went inside to pick it up while I waited in the car with my granddaughter . 15 minutes went by and still no sign of the food. There were people waiting in a long queue outside for their food too. In the meantime, people were still popping into the place, being served for their takeaways whilst we were still sat waiting for ours which we had been told would be ready to pick up any 6.30. Still waiting at 7.30 pm and when my stepdaughter asked how long would it be before our food would be ready , she was rudely told “no idea” by a member of staff. Our food , which was supposed to be ready for collection au 6.30 was finally ready at 7.45pm!! One hour and fifteen minutes late. We weren’t the only people would this had happened to either ....spoke to a man who had been waiting since 6pm for his and had waited one and a half hours ! Had we not already paid for our food we would have walked away. We will never use them again despite being loyal customers for quite a few years. My stepdaughter wasn’t even offered a glass of water whilst she had been waiting so long.

Ordered for the first time on bank holiday Monday. We dont normally eat take aways so when we fancy a chinese it has to be a good one. Well i will definitely be making this place my go to take away. Food is fresh and you can tell the difference. Its the best chinese curry sauce, best noodles and thr best crispy chilli chicken i have ever tasted. And being half chinese myself i am fussy. This reminds me of thr take outs i used to have as a child over 40 years ago and ive not found a good 1 since my grandfather sadly left us. Cannot wait to try their peking ribs next

I order the same takeaway from here every week. Vegetarian chicken skewers and I always tip either the delivery guy or the restaurant. But for some reason tonight they gave me REAL chicken. I am a regular customer so I can’t understand how they got this order so wrong. Needless to say it’s in the dog bowl

Me and my husband both agree we had the best Chinese meal we have ever eaten at the Golden Kitchen. We are from North Wales and will definitely be returning. We had the duck chow mein, crispy chilli beef, chicken balls, salt and pepper chips. All amazing! The place is super clean and the staff are very friendly. Thank you so much.

Firstly let me say that it takes a lot for me to take time out to write a review for a restaurant. Normally it is something really nice that deserves recognition but unfortunately this time it was terrible service which brings me here. Whilst I'm here I may as well address the other below par issues that we would have otherwise ignored. The restaurant itself is a nice enough setting and spacious(probably due to covid). The staff were very friendly upon arrival apart from when we asked for the early bird menu advertised on their website when there were visibly frosty for a few minutes but in the end we actually decided to order off the normal menu as the early bird selection was very limited. The starters were fine but nothing special. For the mains my mum and dad both ordered beef with ginger + onion which was then repeated back by the waitress to avoid any mistakes. The same waitress then went and put the order into computer so there was no way of miscommunications at this point. When the bill came they had charged up for Cantonese steak with ginger + onion x 2 which was an extra £5 each. As a family we hate confrontation so I was debating with my dad whether to say something or just use it as the tip when my normally timid mother went to speak to the staff to clear up this mistake. (I think she did this because I was paying for the meal as a treat and she knows I'm struggling with money at the moment due to Covid). The staff member said to my mum that it was the steak that was brought over but she would speak to the waiter that served us. After some heated discussion from the staff between themselves our server came over and said we will let you off and take the 10 pounds off the bill but you ordered Cantonese and there is no Cantonese beef only steak on the menu. As nobody from either party had said steak or Cantonese during the whole ordering process this caught us all by surprise and the accusing tone and defensive attitude by the staff was so unprofessional. Seeing the waiter accuse my mum when she had stepped out her comfort zone in the first place bringing the mistake to the restaurants attention wound me up a treat. From working in hospitality for over 13 years the decisions made by the staff are inexcusable. Even if they believed we had made a mistake (which we are 100% sure we didn't) if they decided to take the money off the bill why come over defensively and accusing us. Just come over and say sorry for any confusion and resolve the situation with happy customers. Either way the till will be down £10?! To go out of pocket on the bill and not have the customers thinking that you have helped them out is counter intuitive on your part and terrible business sense. Anyway the whole evening ended in a bad way and my parents didn't tip for the first time ever that I have been out with them. Hopefully management read this and retrain their staff on how to speak to customers and look into your internal ordering process. A small things was when clearing our starters they left the fork for the main and didn't bring any other cutlery. I've been to places where you have to ask for a knife before but these places have chopsticks instead. To offer only 1 fork as standard practice for two courses is poor. On a positive my sister was very happy with her vegetarian meal. Overall this isn't a cheap restaurant. These issues (apart from how they spoke to my mother) are down to value for money. For a bill at £120 for 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 lagers and 2 glasses of wine this was hugely overpriced for what we received. (We got 40 off this price due to the eat out scheme but the restaurant will still receive the bill total). I've been to many other Chinese restaurants that offer same standard at nearly half the price. Obviously I wouldn't recommend for all the reasons above.

I adore this place! They prepare awesome meals, their menu is decent, The cook in that spot is a real authority in the kitchen, I love a lot tasting all their food. The food is consistently of high class, the service towards the clients is good. I visit often this restaurant and I not even once was discontended. I recommend it to all.

12 of us visited to celebrate a birthday. I didn’t even know this restaurant existed, but glad we found it.The staff were welcoming and happy to do separate bills, very unusual, but great as they all came with your name on. Anyone who has been out with a party of 12 women will know how invaluable this was!I opted for the early bird menu. Prawn crackers, soup, mixed appetisers, consisting of rib, wing, roll and seaweed. Very nice.I then had beef with ginger and spring onion with egg fried rice. Delicious and a very generous portion. The staff were happy to box up any leftovers.All 12 of us were happy, very unusual! Had a family meal there for the first time last Sunday evening and had the early evening multi- choice buffet option, which is served at the table by well presented, friendly, attentive and efficient staff. The food was delicious, nutritious and most importantly served hot and pre-heated individual plates were provided, always a good sign for me. The buffet is unlimited so you can't go away hungry and represents good value for money.The atmosphere is relatively quiet, clean, tidy, spacious and unhurried.We all were most favourably impressed with our dining experience and will definitely be eating here again before very long.

It is really good to have a nice place to eat in the area, as there is practically nothing within the local vicinity along Eccles Old Road. The food at the Golden Kitchen has always been nice. We last visited on NYE. We hadn't booked but rang beforehand to check they had tables. As we hadn't booked the NYE package we were kind of stuck at the back of the restaurant. Those who had booked the NYE menu had a cracker, those who hadn't didn't (not a problem but not particularly in the spirit of the evening). The food was good but you never get any little extras such as prawn crackers - maybe you have to spend more, I don't know. The young waitress was lovely but the 'maître d' lady was quite severe and not very friendly. I just think a bit more in the way of friendlier customer service might lift the restaurant up a notch. That being said, we have no complaints with the food and it is always nice.

Had a 2 really nice take away meals tonight. 1shredded chilli beef 1 stir-fry beef curry fried rice prawn crackers seemed to deliver in 20 mins would recommend as this is first order in over a year. Well done Golden Kitchen.

Haven't tried this place yet as I have heard no good reviews about this over priced place, always looks empty, not sure how they are surviving. If I could give no stars I would. Why am I reviewing if if haven't eaten there? Because the reviews are lies. If you want this taken down take down the old reviews that are not YOURS, despicable behaviour.

We were at the Golden Kitchen for a family birthday and went for the £23 a head banquet, which we all really enjoyed. The quality and quantity of the dishes served up was fantastic from the chicken and sweetcorn soup, starter combination, crispy duck and four excellent main dishes served with fried rice. We couldn't finish the mains and the staff were happy to oblige us by boxing them up for us to take home. The Golden Kitchen also provided a very nice freshly made birthday cake that was decorated with lots of lovely fresh fruit. Staff were very friendly and though we heard another table chasing up their food, we found the pace of service suited the banquet meal that we were enjoying, allowing enough time for each course and a bit of a break between them.

A group of five of us visited the Golden Kitchen for the early evening menu, were soon seated and our orders taken quickly. Drinks arrived swiftly followed by chicken and sweetcorn soup which was served very hot though I've tasted better. The mixed platter arrived with something for everyones tastes and was soon cleared. 2 of us had the same main course the other 3 had different choices all served with fried rice. Once again all was devoured . Only 3 of us had ice cream. All food was very nicely presented and tasty with no complaints about the food or service which was attentive. The interior is much nicer than I anticipated with spotlessly clean toilets which are upstairs. The next time I'm in Salford we'll deffinately be back .

Pros: Nice fried chicken wings, salt and pepper chips, char siu fried rice, and steamed char siu buns. Cons: A little pricey in general and extremely rubbery shumai. The most confusing thing was the Singapore noodles: I asked for no bean sprouts, but fully a quarter of the dish was bean sprouts; there was no flavor to the dish; and there was a large amount of mushy meat-like material I assume was spam, which was singularly unpleasant.

My partner and I have both eaten in the Restaurant and we regularly order a takeout from here. The food is always to a very high standard and delicious. It tastes fresh and less processed than most Chinese restaurants and the quality of the ingredients is top notch. The staff are friendly too.I ordered my usual takeaway last night and was very satisfied. Chicken with ginger and spring onion, boiled rice. It is just as good quality as when ordered in the restaurant for a sit down meal.

Loved the place. Quiet, authentic Chinese place. Veg Fried rice plus curry sauce is a good option for vegetarians. Portion is good enough for one person.

Had Vegan noodles and tofu stir fry, very tastey and well balanced. Can taste the fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend it.

I bought this special combanation starter for 2 people, it cost £15.40 i thought we would be well fed, they must think they were feeding cats, absolute shocking portion, and not even nice. Stay away.

Booked for mother’s day a week before for family. We regularly visit this restaurant as a family to support our local restaurant! This will not be happening again. We arrived to find they did not have our booked table along with other booked customers! They then tried to ask a family to leave the table before their meal had ended to accomadate our booked table but they obviously were not ready to leave! I asked if they had just let walk-ins have tables with no courtesy of booked tables & they agreed. Ruined mother’s day completely

Really good food. Very tasty dim sum starters had these and the crispy chilli beef a couple of times. Both are really good. Had ribs, curries, and mixed starters - all very tasty and good size portions too. Very quick service for takeaway too.

We had been worried that it would not be as good since changing from Chung Yings to the Golden Kitchen but we need not have worried. Nice to see Palema is still working there so good to have a familiar face. The food is as delicious as ever and the the restaurant now has a four star hygiene rating. We really look forward to our weekly visit.

Excellent food . Excellent service and very enjoyable evening .

Arrived 15 minutes after opening and the place was freezing, kept out cotes on. Food was poor apart from the duck which was ok apart from having only 3 pancakes. Service was dreadful, shoving dishes under your elbows, the owner (assumed) attitude was abrupt, £62 for 10 mouth fulls of food and 2 glasses of crap wine. Complained and the response was a shrug of the shoulders. (I have never complained before in my life)

Had the Sunday buffet. Excellent value, good quality and plenty to.eat.

Ordered take away at the place, £40 for 2 sweet & sour chicken with egg fried rice, duck in plum sauce with rice and 2 (special combination - was ONLy 2 ribs, 2 spring rolls, 2 prawn toast and 2 satay chicken skewers) MEnu has changed and VERY pricy...

Good food, decent sized portions and they do dim sum, what more could you ask for?
