Great takeaway highly recommend

I have eaten Chinese for years, all over the world. This is far the best Chinese I have ever had. The family owners are very friendly, and their son is always friendly and helpful. The food is very tasty and is packed in the containers and is value for money. The takeaway is 5 star food hygiene rating. Love the house fried rice and noodles, lemon chicken. My favourite is prawn toast. Shame the prices have gone up with cost of living, so paying £7 upwards on main meal, so not cheap buying for 2 or more. On the new updated menu, they started doing boxed meals around £8.50each.

This place used to be the best, I don't know whats happend but I bought a house special Chow mein it was Dreadful there was only noodles and onions two small pieces of chicken and two small pieces of beef. worst of all it was very dry what a waste of money Verry disappointed

Came to Portland for a visit and got some takeaway and it is by far the best Chinese takeaway I have had! The chili crispy pork was a personal fave. Service was great and was all ready to go in just 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend

Sweet and sour prawns in batter with egg fried rice. However, far too much batter on prawns, very 70's. Rice pretty good. Sweet and sour sauce was awful. Just red sugary sauce out of a budget catering container bought for the cheapest price regardless of quality. Unfortunately, like most Chinese takeaways, can't seem to move out of the 70's, stuck in a time warp. I doubt I will be returning.

Had a takeaway yesterday evening and my son had a chicken curry, this morning he has severe diarrhoea and tells me the chicken didn’t seem quite right. Nobody else had the chicken curry and no one else has a problem. Will not be ordering from here again.

Just ordered from golden island absolutely delicious everything really lovely and hot great tasting will be back ordering again soon!! Had a large pancake roll bit like a food eating challenge was so big 😀😀😀 brilliant! Thanks again for delicious food

Got take away Saturday got home with it my partner had chicken rice noodles and I had chicken chow main my partner got food poisoning after having half of it confirmed my 111 that it was

We had the most amazing takeaway from the Golden Island last night, hot and cooked to perfection. But then again we have lived here for years and this has always been the case.

The worst crispy chilli beef and vermicelli ever. Must be different cook as used to be very nice

i have brought this up a few years back the food is cold only warm not hot and it is tastless the chicken is wierd. the drive to my house is only 40seconds from takeway but luke warm golden island is way better tastes better and it is hot i think they do one bit put it under heat lamps for ages never again am i useing this place. they clearley dont look at reviews

Had brilliant meal at Chinese 4 U . Food was absolutely fantastic very tasty large portions . Would definitely be back .

Rice was fair, noodles a little greasy but the deep fried items were awful somewhere between overcooked and burnt.

It's a real shame that I have to write this review, we tried to discuss the problems of the order with the owners. However they insisted that they were right. It mattered little that we had ordered atotally different meal to what we took home. It's a real shame to loose yet another local couple.

Worse place ever. Delivery via a taxi I had to book an missing food. Never again

First time ordering this evening and my last. So yes food fairly priced was told there would be a del charge , fair enough standard with most takeaways however not prepared for that to be £9 on top of my order because they use taxi firms to del for them. This is ridiculous and to not be made fully aware on the phone is unacceptable as had i been i would not have placed an order. Order was also not fully delivered. I know people in the taxi industry and know a few chinese rest that use taxi del but they pay the fare its not pushed onto the customer. Needless to say food ok not outstanding and over priced delivery means they will not have our repeated custom. Very poor communication

I purchased around 19:00, not busy in the shop, quiet, food good, lots of taste perhaps a little too greasy. Best chips around if you have chips.

Now I am not a lover of Chinese food but my wife is, I chanced Spare Ribs in Peking Sauce. Wow, they was good and now the only Chinese I will go to. :-)

Had pork balls. If I'd kept the oil dripping out of them I could have fried an egg every day for a week......way to greasy....would recommend the Chinese just down the road, at least you won't block your arteries with just one meal.
