Great Fish n Chips of course. The Cod was flaky and fresh and the breading was light, crispy and golden. Perfectly executed. Decent sized piece. All items appear a la carte. We also had the Greek Salad which was as expected. Pretty basic but satisfying. Ambience was really nice and cozy. Good for a date with a special person or with friends or family enjoying a nice meal together. Really cute neighborhood too!!

Here on a layover and obviously wanted to get some fish and chips. This place was pretty well reviewed and on a few lists that gave it some credibility so I decided to check it out. It is small, unassuming yet incredibly nice, and looks new, but is certainly not. It’s been passed down for generations in the same location by a couple of different families. I walked in without a reservation and was seated immediately, Even though there was a full house. The waiters and the owner paid great attention to service & hospitality, and were incredibly kind and accommodating. I ordered the house rosé, the fried cod, the chips and the mushy peas and was satisfied. Excellent quality, incredibly fresh and delicious, generous portions. When I was finished, the waiter asked me if I wanted some coffee or dessert, but I was, no pun intended, stuffed to the gills. I got the check and was on my way, and the owner was outside, holding the door, both greeting incoming customers and bidding fun farewells to the customers that were leaving. The atmosphere was excellent And the place was lively, spotless, and well kept. Will definitely visit again when I’m in town. This is an excellent experience.

Very good fish & chips! It was fresh and healthy despite the frying, the oil used was good. Very nice owner who takes the time to chat with his customers. However, it is a bit cramped in the restaurant and it can be difficult to move around.

My only issue was it appeared they didn’t salt the food when it came out the fryer, was well cooked just short on the seasoning

Excellent Place Must go. The food is super and the owner is beyond dreams. He cares about his customers to the maximum and ensure that everyone has the best experience. I wouldn’t talk about the taste and quality of the food we had but it is so Yumy that you will dream to return back to the place.

Dlouho jsme hledali restauraci, kde si dáme oběd a tato byla jediná volná, ale rozhodnutí jít zde nelitujeme, ačkoli zde bylo docela těsno, jelikož je restaurace maličká. Obsluha byla rychlá a až na vyjimku velice milá. Dali jsme si tradiční fish&chips a calamary&chips a obojí bylo velice chutné. K pití jsme vyzkoušeli UK pivo, také velice chutné. Možná platba kartou.

Friend has egg allergy. Having asked waitress whether or not there was egg in fish dishes, was told all fried fish did have in batter. Having then decided on a prawn salad was given Marie Rose sauce. Waitress called back. Does it contain egg? Checked with kitchen...yes! Not good. I had salmon fish cakes which were tasteless and mushy. Not great.

Our all time favorite Fish & Chip restaurant in our old neighborhood in London. Cod & haddock are always fresh & fried to perfection. We love their chips, Greek Salad and mushy peas. Friendly wait staff & comfortable dining experience off the Marylebone High Street.

The Fish and Chips here were absolutely amazing! We ordered the Cod and Haddock fried fish which was so flavorful and the chips were very good aswell. Another dish we loved was the Scampi which was some of the best fried shrimp i've ever had. The service was excelent, the food came out wonderful and there was not a wait for a table. It was a wonderful experience and if your in London I would 100% recommend that you stop by.

Bland and expensive, had cod, chips and mushy peas, tasteless unfortunately, even extra salt couldn't add any flavour, very disappointed. The staff are nice but the food really let's the place down, used to be great too. Shame.

Visited without a reservation and they found us a table for 4 very quickly. Atmosphere was brilliant, service was quick but not exactly efficient. We ordered starters and before we could even finish them the mains were being presented, and our plates taken away and an incorrect main fish order, leaving one of our guests having to wait easily another 15minutes for it to arrive. It was pretty tasteless when it did eventually arrive. As others have said chips are nothing to write home about. We ordered 3 affogatos and a vanilla and chocolate ice cream this then took 20mins to arrive and only vanilla provided. I would say bang average all round, with a service charge of 12.5% on top regardless definitely not worth what we paid.

Bad service not English speaking food was good but got £12.50 service charge for no service I will not go back

My friend recommended this palace for some fish and chips was great. Service was terrible. For a restaurant that was half empty waitresses could not speak English or understand it bit of a let down and then we got the bill that had £11.50 service charge for bad service with waitresses that could not speak or understand English why would you employer any one that can not speak English? so bad will not go back the £11.50 service charge that rip off. when con for them to put on the bill.i look at lost of reviews looks like going down hill for last 2 years may be cheap stuff why would not have English speaking ?

The fried cod fish was fresh, and the large size is just nice for me who was so hungry. late lunch at 14.00. prefered the fried over the steamed cod fish. the mushy peas was good way to increase my vegetables intake, easy to eat. the home made mint lemon drink cooler was good too.

OVERPRICED AND BLAND! We went to this place because it was rated as one of the best fish and chips in London, with a heritage of over 100 years. We were expecting delicious fish and chips, and we were very disappointed. The portions were generous but all the food was just absolutely bland! Not a hint of salt or flavour anywhere, including a bland tartar sauce. They should really be ashamed of charging such high prices for less than mediocre food....but then again, welcome to London. You can find much better food and value for your money elsewhere.

I looked at the chips and tasted them and I just thought they weren’t the same. So I said to the manager “what’s happened to the chips, they’re not the same”. He got very very defensive and said “nothing, I never use frozen”. But I didn’t accuse him Is using frozen, that was in his head not mine. I had just said they weren’t the same. I didn’t pursue it but they looked and tasted like the same chips you can get at 1001 other places - probably frozen. This morning I’ve checked out other review sites and looked at photos of the chips that were reviewed before and they were a different size. A bit thicker and like I remember. The fish was the second thing, normally brilliant with crispy batter but this time the batter was soggy and lighter. I think they’ve changed everything, chips, batter, and also the oil temperature and probably the oil as well. It’s absolutely nothing like it was and they should change it back. Also - don’t insult your customers intelligence. It was over £60 for a couple of bits of c*** fish and chips that I could have bought at the end of the road and that isn’t happening again.

Classic! One of the best fish and chips joints in the city! Beware fish portions are quite large (and pricey!) but worth every bite. Chips were average for my taste but may appeal to some.

An older gentlemen asked if everything was ok, and turned back on us before we could respond…….kind of sums things up. Our waiter was nice, and did remove the chips from the bill…….

Probably one of the best fish & chips I had, after more than 8 years living in the Uk. Tbe steamed fish is also delicious and a but healthier , and don’t miss the home made chips and the mushy peas. The service was top class, we had a great meal!

Excellent meal with overly generous portions. There is no chance you will go hungry at the Golden Hind. The fish was crisp, the chips were traditional, the apple crisp with custard was exceptional. I think what many people miss is that F&C isn’t a gourmet meal, nor should it be. If prepared properly, as they do, it is simple comfort food.

This was listed as one of the good Fish & Chips restaurants close to where we were wandering in Oxford Street, London. It was a short walk through lovely side streets of London West End and the food did not disappoint us. The cod, chips and mushy peas were very well prepared and served and we enjoyed our meal very much. The restaurant itself was very neat and clean with table covers and nice chairs. Good place to eat if you want traditional British Fish & Chips but a little on the pricier side. Check the prices on the menu before you go.

Probably the best fish and ships I have ever had in the UK. The fried cod is seasoned perfectly and it's really crispy. Most importantly, it is HUGE! My friend and I both finished the fish and couldn't finish the chips. The waiter and waitresses were so friendly and nice to us as well. We had a great time!

I used to get the best fish & chips in London for the last 10 years, however on my last visit I got plain fish and chips without flavor whatsoever. Even what they call tartar sauce tastes like mayonnaise! I didn't see the owner I used to see in the past running the restaurant, may owners changed 👎

Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell, der Fisch (Cod) war an sich perfekt zart und saftig, gut durch, die Panade knusprig. Damit es aber wirklich nach etwas schmeckt, muss man selbst Hand anlegen und mit Salz, Pfeffer, Essig oder der hausgemachten Mayo nachhelfen.
