Another wonderful dinner, the haddock was very fresh and wonderfully cooked and we love the calamari strips, the best ever, meaty! All the accompaniments and sides are well prepared, everything to like! Great to have a neighbourhood place which is opened all day so we can have meals at any time.

packaging was horrible the dressing from the prawns all leaked was soggy

Since they started going self-service it has gotten worst eat from seashells waiting and the portion size is terrible with fish they give for price just crispy skin no actual fish meat it's like they cutting back on the usually supply they had before and got smaller cuts off fish terrible only positive was the chips cooked well

There's actually nothing wrong with this place food and service wise, but I'm leaving a negative review in the hopes the managers see it - I urge them to get rid of the irksome "input your own tip" system and stick to the already-included 12.5% like most restaurants before. It feels super transactional and aggravating to have to choose the tip percentage before paying - and right as the server is watching closely too. Most places are using this silly American-esque tip system for the most minor things like takeaway and I've become accustomed to automatically tapping 0. Since it was my first time dining here I didn't notice or realise the 12.5% wasn't automatically included and so I tapped 0 when prompted - only realised something might have been amiss when the server gave me a dirty look and disappointedly left. Nothing wrong with this either I'd react the same - but it could have been avoided entirely had the 12.5% just been automatically included. Seriously.

Amazing place! Super authentic, very friendly and incredibly tasty food! Minna serves you with unique enthusiasm and passion and is the core of the experience of this place for me. The fish is fresh and well fried and the chips are always recently fried; the portion is huge for one so prepare yourself to eat a lot because you cannot stop eating until the end!

We ordered grilled seabass and chips that was expensive even eating in takeaway but overall experience was good except a guy came begging for mj ey and would nog leave us alone and we felt uncomfortable and intimidated which spoilt atmosphere and dining experience but will definitely come again and recommend takeaway .. it was a good surprise when music was turned on at 5pm that I wish was on earlier when we arrived ..

Service was relatively Quick whilst being very busy. Food very good. I had GLUTEN-FREE cod and chips It was Takeaway but I was able to sit inside comfortably

The food was decent, but as a sit-down restaurant, we expected it to be served on proper plates considering the price we paid. Instead, it came in takeaway boxes with disposable cutlery. Additionally, basic condiments like salt, pepper, and vinegar were not available on the tables, requiring customers to go to the counter each time they needed something.

Minna was serving she was friendly and inviting and the food tasted great lots on menu only fish available however but I will still keep coming back to this legendary fish bar

Went to the diner at the street corner and not the fancier resto...order up at the counter and wait till they call your deep fried crispy fish 🐟 n lotttsss of chips🍟...crunchy meal without the oil spill, tartar sauce extra charge, a must bri-ish meal without the curry.

We were told by several London residents that this was the best in London. The portions were very large, and we could have shared the SMALL cod order (see picture). I could only eat half. Also the skin was still on the fish.

I recently visited The Seashell of Lisson Grove with my elderly relative, and it was a wonderful experience. My father, who studied in England during the 1980s, often dined here and later brought me as a child. Returning to this restaurant brought back many fond memories. We started our meal with the calamari, which was crispy and tender—just as I remembered from my childhood visits. For the main course, I had the Dover sole fish and chips, while my relative enjoyed the grilled Dover sole. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, with fresh fish and delicious flavors.

The food and service were awesome, we really enjoyed ourselves.

I had a huge piece of fresh cod with chips and they were both excellent. I rate this as the best in London. Crispy chips and thick cod (skin left on). Just as I like it.

The gluten-free fish and chips were the best I’ve ever had—crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. What made the evening even more remarkable was the exceptional service from Jack, our waiter. He was practically running the entire restaurant single-handedly, taking orders, serving, and ensuring every guest was well taken care of with such efficiency and a positive attitude. Jack’s dedication and professionalism truly elevated our dining experience. Kudos to him and the team at Seashell! Highly recommend this place for both the food and the service

I went to eat fish and chips with my family. We didn't want to leave London without trying it. We found the restaurant by chance, because we were on Baker Street. It was a great success. The restaurant is located about a 6-minute walk from Sherlock Holmes' house. When we arrived, we were very surprised by the decoration. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were able to have dinner. Each one chose a different type of fish, whiting, cod, salmon and sea bass. They were all very good. And the potatoes too. Then we had several desserts and they were also very good. A 100% recommendable place. Nataliia waited on us and was very nice. It was a very good choice and seeing the size of the fish they serve, the price is reasonable.

Fue una agradable sorpresa encontrar este magnífico restaurante bastante cerca de Baker Street. Quería comer fish & chips con mi familia antes de salir de Londres y encontramos el mejor lugar para hacerlo el lunes pasado. Nataliia nos aceptó sin reservas y ella era muy muy amable con nosotros todo el tiempo. Mi hija tenía dolor de garganta y Nataliia dijo que podía prepararle un té con limón o cualquier otra cosa. Al principio, pensamos que sería una cena cara pero cuando vimos el tamaño de las piezas de pescado, entendimos los precios. Elegimos 4 tipos diferentes de pescados con 3 preparaciones diferentes y 2 tipos de patatas fritas / patatas y todo fue excelente. Incluso nosotros estábamos llenos, tuvimos que probar algunos de sus postres, también muy buenos. Cuando nos fuimos, Nataliia nos hizo una foto con el impresionante pulpo en el bar, para terminar una excelente última cena en Londres.

Excellent fish & chips served by the delightful Minna. The fish was fresh, large & tasty. Good batter, good chips, good curry sauce, good mushy peas & tea that tastes of tea rather than dishwater. We ate in the part of the shop where you get take aways. It’s pleasant & clean. I’d travel out of my way to go here if ever I fancy fish & chips. It’s round the corner from Lisson Gallery so you can feed stomach & mind in an outing. It’s not cheap - but it is very good. You get what you pay for & this fish & chips is well worth it.

The best fish and chips in town

Previously gave a higher review - then the service was really friendly. This time was a strange disappointment. I was told as a Westminster resident I could get a discount when I came before. I said I'd return more often then. Today when I came back I was told the previous server was "crazy" and I could only be given a discount with a red card, not my driving licence showing my address. Its a shame because the pricing structure is head-scratchingly bizarre at the best of times - £1.50 to add chips to either £4.50 chicken nuggets or £12 small cod... whilst it's £4.20 more to add chips to either £2.70 battered sausage or £17 whole sea bass! The inconsistently isn't just the pricing and the service, it's also the food. Today the fish was lovely. The chips however were undercooked and quite cold.

Just had a wonderful lunch at The Seashell. I’ve been coming for 40 years. As good as ever. Delicious fish, tastes like it has been caught same day. Myself and my fiance got a great welcome from Oleg who made our visit even more enjoyable. Wonderful to be looked after by a wonderful member of staff. Best Fish restaurant in London. Always was and still is. Thank You to Oleg and all of the management

only issue was , no tartar sauce and I didn't see any indication there wouldn't be any when I ordered! Perhaps a little note at the bottom saying 'don't forget your sauce!' might be appropriate.

Great fish and chips! We ate traditional cod and chips, fish burger and chicken nuggets. Everything was very tasty, large portions, nice place and friendly service.

The fish and chips were delicious. The friendly waitress gave us a great tasting gerkin.

Thank you to Minna and everyone at the restaurant for a lovely experience. I had a gluten free takeaway and although I was expecting to wait a little longer it was worth it! Minna who took my order repeated to me and the chef that I require gluten free and this made me feel reassured that I can enjoy my lunch safely. I will return again and can definitely recommend the Seashell restaurant as one of the best London has to offer 🥰
