Golden Dragon in Wakefield

Ordered a small munchie box and it turned up with 3 pieces of salt and pepper chicken. 2 was burnt and inedible. No meat on the ribs! What a joke! Avoid

Haven't had a chinese in a while because not had a nice one in ages. Hubby had heard golden dragon was supposed to be nice so tried it. OMG the food was amazing. The portion sizes were big and tasted fresh and still hot when delivered. Definitely my favourite Chinese now. Will be ordering again.

A little while after this post I started working here , best job IV had since selling cars to which I can't do no cos of health , was a great few months making money meeting new people having a chuckle , then just before Xmas I got pnumonia and I thought I'd broken a rib so 3 week I worked with it, I was breaking down in the cold weather , not my car I mean I broke down in front of customers I had so many hugs from customets that day cos of the rain and the fact I shouldn't have been working bu this time we realised what it was , double pneumonia ...took 7 days an went back to work, no where near ready , had to take another 7 an the owners were great , until i csme back to work was when all the rosds flooded an bit later it tried to snow i got double pnumonis this tine doc saif u dont go bsck till your 100% , went back to work too early and couldn't breath , all this because I'd not wanted to let them down but I got fired , I adored the customers an they must have liked me cos the lady who did it before short-changed then apparently , still reccomrnd it's an amazing Chinese but I feel hard done by , because it was litterelly me stood in the rain that gave me pneumonia and that wasn't right but again I do love the food and the people here your money won't be wasted , I just loved my job. And had to leave because of the jobs conditions...the weather 😔 this place luv the curry sauce at this place , it sounds benign an not of importance but when u want a bag of chips to go from something to eat to EPIC , I work at a Chinese but I will drive here after work for that curry sauce , if there's a few of ya for 15 quid get a munch box with curry sauce, I feel like iv spokeva lot about curry sauce so il add my only complaint that a bottle of pop costs 2.75 and theres a shop that sells bigger cheaper bottle next door to it, but its worth it just for the curry sauce 😋 bit of an edit , I do the deliveries here now and I can tell u its the busiest Chinese in town and it shows in pure tips I get because the food is immaculate, never had a complaint not one since iv been there , iv worked in lots of chineses doing deliveries and without a doubt they are the nicest iv met. If u like salt an pepper chunks turn em upside down in ya bag so all the onion an garlic covers the chunks , it's amazing , plus if u ask for extra say mushrooms or prawns they don't substitute room with other stuff like chicken or peppers etc what they do is charge u a little extra and it comes in a bigger container , no other Chinese takeaway does that but golden dragon. Always good food in my opinion. Prices sneak up every few months, so it's usually a treat for us. Staff are usually pleasant and quick.

The prawn toast, Singapore fried rice and salt and pepper chips are gorgeous. I add a little salt to the fried rice but then I am a salt addict. Special fried rice is really good too. My new favourite chinese takeaway.

Lovely food but need a bigger tub of curry sauce

On my way hame from work I placed my order £24, I asked the woman is everything in my order before I left the shop, the lady said yes, I got home 7 miles away and it was a completely wrong order value of £13.40. After ringing the shop and speaking for 10 minutes I was advised that nothing could be done as we paid cash-it is a cash only shop- DONT USE THIS TAKEAWAY,

Owners previously owned our local and you've no idea how much we have missed them. Well worth the 20 minute drive to get such quality food. My wife was over the moon when I surprised her by getting her favourite salt & pepper chicken wings. Will most definitely be coming over again & again, glad to see that the food is still at an excellent standard

I just ordered the chicken curry with rice and omg it was the best.

We are slowly becoming regulars here, the food is delicious and never disappoints and the staff we have met through delivery are all so lovely! Would definitely recommend them!

Ordered for the first time round at a freinds we were all blown away with the freshness of it all very tasty.

Salt and pepper chips are just chips over salted with onions, no pepper in sight!

Suppose to get salt and pepper chip got chips with some onion bloody joke

I generally only have a special curry and to be honest I've had better. That said it's a varied menu and my food review reflects more on me than them. Very clean and good service. You pay your money and make your choice.

Been going here for quite some time, and I have to say I've been impressed..... till tonight Tuesday 16th August, my partner went in for a chicken chow mien which I've struggled to fined a good one in this area since I moved here in 2015, but the Golden Dragon surprised me when we bought the first chicken chow mien, it was wonderful it had the smoky flavour and the chicken was in long stripes like it had just been taken off the roasted brest it was that good I ate the whole lot, which I don't normally do. Back to tonight on opening the container it had no colour at all,there was pale chunks of chicken that looked like they had been reformed and boiled, the onions were slimy and pale, same for the beansprouts, it was nothing like a chow mien that I've had from there in the past, the noodles were on the bottom of the container not mixed in the way a normal or previous chow miens from here have been, now I've watch how to make a chow mien on many cooking shows with Chines cooks and everything goes into the wok, and is cooked/fried together, not just the noodles everything is mixed up in the wok at a high heat so you get the smoky tast that comes from the wok. This was horrible the chicken look and was slimy along with onions and beansprouts I tried to eat the noodles, onions and beansprouts leaving all the rest along with the chicken to my partner, I couldn't even eat the small amount as there was no flavour at all, now my partner is the type of guy that will eat anything, I add mitt I'm more fussy, but when my partner eats very little and says he's had enough then you know there is something wrong. The chicken chow mien we had to night unfortunately is exactly how every other Chinese takeaway in Pontefract and surrounding area seem to cook the chow mien I've no idea why this has changed, but something has most definitely changed and not for the good sadly. Will we order from the Golden Dragin again, I'm not sure to be honest. I realise in these times of economic problems things are difficult but I would rather pay a little more and get good food than what we got served up tonight

Best chinese curry i have had in ages and good portion sizes

First time I've used these guys in many years and probably the last, Really disappointed ordered spicy chicken in black bean sauce the below came, called them back thinking I had got the wrong order delivered, no they say spicy chicken with black bean sauce doesn't come with sauce....wow worst tenner I've spent 🙁

Well done to the new owners! The food we had at the weekend was fresh, non-greasy, well cooked and plentiful. The only complaint I would make is that the chicken used in the Fu Yung had the look, texture and taste of heavily processed chicken. Other than that, it was spot on.

Just ordered from here for the first time and we weren't disappointed at all, plenty of meat in the yung chow fried rice and the special chow mein was tasty also. Will definitely order from here from now on.

My family did not like the food we got there. They had chicken fried rice and special fried rice and even after adding our own sauce, it tasted so below our standards that they THREW AWAY THE FOOD! The sweet & sour chicken I had wasn't too bad. That and the pleasant lass behind the counter is what got this place the second star.

Now the second time we have ordered and once again great food, I don't know why it has taken us so long to visit. The service is great, definitely a place on my great takeaway list. Prices are reasonable as well. I doubt you will be disappointed. Left overs for Lunch!!

Disappointing. After a couple of decent experiences with the same dish I thought I'd try something else, a thai chow mein, and what they sent me was bland, nothing thai about it bar a hint of chilli. When I called up to complain about it they took it quite personally so I won't be using them again.

Ordered special currys and was given beef curry instead. Rang to complain and person on phone was unhelpful and rude

Grow up on chequers close had many a curry from here been told the place has changed hands since I moved away in 96. Think it was called mayflower if I remember correctly. Quick service no complaints there. Food?? No where near as good as it used to be not even close sorry.

Just had a great Chinese fro. Golden dragon. Very tasty big improvement from 7 months ago. Highly recommend.

The munchie box is great more than enough for two but can easily eat one to myself 😁

Had curry and rice and chicken wings, I must say I was very unhappy , chicken wings didn't taste of anything, the curry tasted like it was made from last night, no taste what so ever. First takeaway I have had since I moved to pontefract and will not be going again. But very fast delivery service. Ended up just throwing the take away in the bin.

Go here every week. Never had a bad meal.

Can't comment on the food as I cancelled the order after a two hour wait and being told it would be a further twenty to thirty minutes!

Friendly customer service and amazing food

Crispy chilli chicken was not the best, it was more of a crispy chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce but then had a couple of slices of chilli in it. It was edible but didn't really enjoy it as not what was expected, had much nicer from Fortune House in Pontefract.

This was our first time ordering from here, we won't be back. None of us could eat it, I ordered a Thai Red Curry. I have no idea what I got as it wasn't anything remotely like a Thai Red Curry, it was simply the ingredients for a mixed curry with a tasteless red sauce over it, 3/4 of it went in the bin. My granddaughters chicken balls were disgusting, they were very rubbery with awful mush inside, she loves food, but this went in the bin same as mine.

Brilliant! Never used this Chinese before however think we’ve tried every other one in ponte and this by far was the best. Got real pieces of chicken and good spice to the chilli chicken, yummy, will definitely be going back. Thanks golden dragon :-)

Just had salt and pepper chicken. Huge helping and really tasty. Ready in 10 minutes too. First time I have ordered from Golden Dragon but will certainly go again.

Normally very nice but as late food has gone down hill a but, stop with the speed and care for your customers they might move on to others if stays rubbish !

Fresh cooked prawn crackers were lovely. King prawn sweet and sour was a bit heavy. BBQ pork fried rice was eatable, but lacked taste. Chips had already been cooked once. Sauce was excellent.

Used to love the food from here but the standard has gone down hill lately
