crispy peeking duck very good but the chicken curry and the special curry bland no taste at 47.50 they are at the top end of the Chinese takeaway was very disappointed

Tried a takeaway, food was 40 mins late, and bland at best… would feel like sticking the knife in to comment on how overdone the shredded beef was. So while the food was at best mediocre, the service was truly terrible - took the order incorrectly, didn’t send a receipt, then blamed us for the fact that our order was incomplete because the menu we used was probably out of date. At least they’re consistent

Truly awful. Had to pay in excess of £25 or £30 for delivery. Food arrived quickly. It was all truly awful. Curry- utterly tasteless, watery sauce, stringy chicken - yeugh! Ribs without any sauce mainly half cooked fat- tasteless. Seaweed was inedible- only taste was fatty grease. Summary, everything tasted of greasy fat- all went in the bin. Never again- come letecwaste of money.

Went mid week for a meal for five people including one vegan. The staff were great and the food fresh and tasty, everyone had a good meal. and I will be visiting again.

Well yet again a poor takeaway. I keep saying never again but think maybe, just maybe someone there might read the negative reviews and try and do something about it to bring the place back to how it used to be. The sweet and sour special was not too bad apart from the diced carrots which were very hard. Again the chips were a huge letdown, hard and rubbery, I don’t know what they do to them, but I wish they wouldn’t. The chips used to be wonderful, probably the person who used to do them left ages ago. It’s such a pity I have to write such a review, but please read this and try to alter.

Food was good but the service was very poor the staff looked miserable and not happy also Food took ages to come out.

Great food, clean Chinese food, tasty and served hot without all the crap you find in Chinese takeaways like MSG etc Amazing value for the early bird menu. Unfair trip advisor reviews because a lot of the problems are with delivery. It would be useful to have 2 different review pages, one for restaurant and one for takeaway. I will add that other that the early bird I find the price’s extortionate, especially for takeaway and delivery, but the food is fresh and I’d be happy to pay it in the restaurant, I just don’t think Tupperware does their cooking justice. It’s really a great food experience dining in the restaurant.

Went here for a family meal food good service terrible had to go to a waitress and ask for coffees would have had a sweet but they didn't seem interested also steep steps up to restaurant

Got a takeaway this week from the Golden Dragon and I was really disappointed. The meal arrived on time ok and was really looking forward to it. The sweet and sour special was not very special, the sauce was not a patch on how it used to be and the meat was tough and chewy. The chips from this restaurant used to be the star of the show but sadly now the complete reverse. All in all not a very good experience, but the prawn crackers were fine. This restaurant used to be a special place to go but I’m sorry I won’t be going again.

Absolutely beautiful food. No complaints at all. Won ton soup and crispy chicken and ok sauce bloody beautiful. Staff very helpful and attentive

How this place keeps going never again keeps pushing time back 2 hrs from time of order absolutely rubbish

Our take away order was cancelled after almost an hour waiting for it to be delivered with no reason or apology! If I could have left zero I would have done!

I ordered a take away this evening at 17.28. It was advised the order would be 45-60 mins. At 18.36 I rang to check where it was and they said it was in way. Eventually it came 6.50 ish. The driver gave me the bag and I gave him £35. 1 £20 note 1 £10 note 1 £5 note. He advised my bill was £33 something . I told him it didn’t matter about the change. Off he went. The food was terrible over cooked dry . Shocking! Me and my family regularly order from here, normally lovely and tonight was terrible ! It was like food had been warmed up from left overs. Then at 10.33 the restaurant called and I didn’t answer as I was asleep! Left me a voicemail saying they had forgotten to collect money for take away. They would try again later .This is not true it was paid in cash to the driver . 11pm the said driver is banging on my door, waking my 2 young children scaring them to death ! I have only just managed to settle them back down. I tried calling the restaurant back with no answer. It is disgusting that you feel you can bang in people’s door at 11pm when my order had been paid !!!! The food was horrible, I’ve been harassed and I want my money back !!!!!! I have the left overs of all food that went into the bin. You can have that back if you like . I will be phoning tomorrow to the restaurant and want to speak to the owner regarding this disgusting service !

17:30 takeaway ready at 18:00! I phoned on a Friday to collect a takeaway at 17:30 on Saturday because I know they are disorganised! At 17:30 it was not ready, at 17:35 all the staff disappeared! Eventually I did collect at 18:05 and found out it had been brought down 20 minutes ago and put in a heated cabinet. No apologies just "it stayed warm". What about the "sorry you had to wait 30 minutes and for 20 minutes of that your food was in a warming cabinet" Oh, what about the food - well actually most of is enjoyed it but all of us have had a lot better.

Got a home delivery via Just Eat. Delivered on time , still hot and very tasty. Will definitely use again,

Ordered a takeaway as staying nearby during lockdown (key worker!) and no food available at hotel. Was not disappointed- the mixed starters were delicious- crispy on the outside but lovely and moist on the inside. And the dumplings probably the best I've tasted outside of China. I didn't have much room left for the main course - the portions were generous and tastes amazing. Would definitely call again if in area.

Reservation booked at 6pm and after taking my drinks order & then food, starters came just shy of an hour later! We were the only people in the Restaurant yet the staff were busy scrambling about dealing with Takeaway orders, which meant in short they totally forgot that we existed. Our Starters came after an hour - Spring Rolls and Quarter Crispy Duck - our Duck was sacrificed and no meat on it at all - barely enough for to have on one pancake - It took ages to finally get a member of staff to send the Duck back and get one replaced - yet another half hour later to get the replacement. There was no checking up if the food was OK which seen as there had been previous was a bit of a let down that more care was apparent. Finally just shy of 2 hrs we got to eat our Mains. We have eaten at this Restaurant many many times, but the last 2 times have been a major disappointment. They seem more interested in Takeaway Sales than Serving Customers in the Restaurant.(Even though Customers in the Restaurant are paying more!) The Staff although nice are not attentive enough as they are way too busy taking Takeaway Telephone Orders and running up and downstairs in the Restaurant. The Phone just was ringing non-stop the whole of the time, not something you want to hear in a Restaurant frankly. Our Meal was medioka, yet no-one around to tell. The Service warranted no tip. Really not happy to see this Restaurant's standards drop so drastically and there is absolutely no need for it to do so. We sadly won't be returning after 2 poor encounters & after going for over 10 years - it's just not a pleasant experience any more.

I live locally and frequent The Golden Dragon quite often. The food is consistent, the staff friendly and the wine extremely reasonable.

Great food, but a little expensive ? Cant afford to eat here often. As a treat though, lovely lovely food across the menu.

The food is always lovely, I can’t fault them for that! But what I have had to do tonight was ridiculous and out of order!!We rung our order in for collection and they said 45 minutes which lead us to 7 o’clock. I got here at 5 past 7 and am still waiting here at 7:30... there are over 10 other people here waiting for their food as well which isn’t good as there is a PANDEMIC GOING ON!!They should have organised it better so that only one or two people were waiting at a time!! I would rather have been told 1 hour to 1.5 hours and not of had to wait with other people than have to be crammed into a little room with people!!! Not happy!!Very disappointed with the organisation and safe keeping for customers!!

The takeaway service re opened in late April. I ordered a portion of Prawn toast and curried Beef with Egg fried rice. Friend had the prawn toast and said it was the best they had had in a long time. I had the beef curry, it was very good. Loads of different flavours and a big portion. The egg fried rice was very good. Will definitely be going back.

Ordered the special banquet from just eat - £49 for two. Chicken and sweetcorn soup was ok after being doused with soy sauce, everything was down hill from there. The mixed starter was just 4 X 2cm cube prawn toasts and two micro spring rolls. Mediochre at best. Mains were appalling - lots of dry tasteless pork cubes chucked into the rice. Fillet steak in yellow bean missing and substituted with chicken. When we tried to rectify it with the restaurant they were rude argued that I'd asked for prawns instead (this isn't an option on the just eat set menu). After 15 minutes of arguing, it arrived late...and was wrong...beef fillet in Cantonese sauce (aka sweet and sour) yuck. The fillet seemed to be curled and boiled.chewy fillet yay! Everything tasted like a really bad, cheap Chinese....but it cost £49. We'll have a Thai next time....

We called here on the spur of the moment. There was a table available. We ordered 1/4 peking crispy duck to start with.Very good, the duck was full of flavour and really succulent and there was plenty for the 2 of us.For mains, I had Deep Fried Shredded Beef with Plum& chilli sauce.Companion had Deep Fried Shredded Beef with Spicy OK Sauce.We had egg fried rice to go alongside the dishes.Both dishes were very good. Loads of flavour and plenty of heat. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, the staff and the service was good. We both enjoyed our meal and the venue and will definitely be going back.

I will never use the Golden Dragon EVER again either for a takeaway or sit in. It’s under new ownership and they are extremely unprofessional, we didn’t get delivered what we ordered and we ordered Fillet Steak and it was frying steak at best. When we rang to voice our disappointment they were extremely rude and shouted at us. The food was Sh*t at best, rubbish rubbish rubbish, it’s expensive rubbish. Please don’t use this restaurant.

Ordered at 5.30pm with a delivery time of 8.30. After two phone calls to chase (one of which they hung up on me) they finally delivered at 9.20. I know it’s Xmas eve but they had 3 hours to plan this delivery in, so ‘being busy’ isn’t an excuse. This place used to be the best Chinese for miles but this was incredibly disappointing. Very very very poor. I think it’s changed hands recently. Don’t bother would be my best advice.

Went on Sunday afternoon and were really pleased that the food was as good as ever. Excellent service and good value for money.

Customer service is appalling, food arrived with no side orders was then told to wait 10 minutes for the rest, the lady on the phone was horrible so much so 8 minutes later with no apology and refusing to take back my two part order for a refund...Keep the £20 we won’t be ordering again.

This was always our go to place for beautifully cooked food,however something seems to have changed..We ordered five meals today which on collection were barely lukewarm.The chicken was the strangest rubbery texture and not pleasant to eat but worst of all was the roast duck which was basically £8 of fat and skin,it was truly awful . I didn't used to mind that it was expensive because it was a lovely dish but this was dire,I noticed on picking up a menu that it said New Golden Dragon,so I presume it's under new ownership.Won't be going there again,

The chicken tasted off and the food was very greasy and lukewarm at best. Especially with it being one of the most, if not the most expensive Chinese in Halifax you would expect a certain quality of food.

Always great from here, a little more expensive than others in the area but definitely worth it!

Food should have been delivered within 1 hour. I called them after 65 mins to be told our order had not been started yet!!! When it eventually came it was nice but if I had known it would take so long I would not have ordered from here. I courtesy call would have been appreciated to inform us of the delay.

Extremely long wait (over 1.5hrs) and was still 15 minutes late. When the food finally arrived they had forgotten to put in nearly £8 worth of our food. Spent ages trying to get through to them. They did deliver our forgotten food fairly quickly but the other food had gone cold. Bit poor for a nearly £50 order! They were obviously very busy and shouldn’t have accepted the order. Clearly didn’t want to pass up on an expensive order. Food was ok but not great. Very disappointing.

Hi I pre ordered a take away from the golden dragon for 20.30 for when we came home, I phoned the takeaway at 20.50 and was told the driver had set off, at 21.15 after numerous phone calls it arrived stone cold (I live a 5 minute walk from the golden dragon so expected it to arrive in a couple of minutes already knowing it was late. I pre ordered it early so the children could have some before bed as they needed an early night being school the next day. When I opened the takeaway they had sent me the wrong order so I phoned them again they said they would send me what I originally ordered I waited up until 10pm and rang again spoke to someone different who said there was no order being delivered to my house they offered me a full refund and I would just like to know when this will be please? I won’t order from there again if this issue isn’t dealt with properly Regards Laura bell

Food fine although chicken in part quite gristly. Forgot the prawn crackers and no attempt to deliver them.

Arrived nearly 30 minutes early. Chips and noodles were great, the rest were not. Tasted very sweet, left most of it. Sauce was red-ish pink not brown like it used to be. Not great food unfortunately but the delivery driver was very pleasant.

not so great food quality today, it’s normally much better. crispy duck was dry and small, S&S chicken was over cooked and a bit slimy in texture and overall just not very hot. it’s a shame as we’re used to having much better from golden dragon. 🙁

the best Chinese around. i use to live in Greetland and always use to come to this Chinese. I now live 100 miles away and when family come to visit elland I always get them to pick me a Chinese up from here. the best ever and still taste just as nice. Thankyou golden dragon

the food arrived in great time and can not fault. however the quality of the food was low. the food was cold in the case of salt n pepper chips. I also ordered the crispy beef in chilli and plum sauce and this was dry like the meat was left out. overall the food was not worth the £32 bill that came with it. would not recommend.

food ordered at 18.30 arrived at 20.30. Poor service, chased restaurant on the phone, 2 hour wait time is not satisfactory.

We enjoyed excellent meals. My wife loves their Chicken Chow Mein whilst I had sweet and sour king prawn along with crispy crackers. Good service.

3 phone calls and 3 hours late ridiculous the delivery driver said he had been delivering all evening for them we ordered at 6pm and don't get the food delivered until 9.30pm getting worse for deliveries from just eat just don't use them

Great food let down by poor service. Over an hour late with no apologies. Phoned to see where order was and attitude from staff at restaurant! Won’t be ordering again for this place which is a shame as the food was really nice. It was 1 hour 10 mins over the already unacceptable 1hour 20 mins delivery time. That’s two hour thirty mins to get our food to our door..... not worth the hassle

Food took about an hour to come, but that was what the restaurant said so it wasn’t late, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was delicious! would definitely order again! :)

Dropped on here on spec on the way to see a film. Delightfully traditional Chinese restaurant, take away downstairs and table service upstairs. There was more space than customers but service was fine and the meal didn't disappoint.

Food was nice but very spicy. Portions small considering prices much higher than other takeaways.

food was late and just because I live 5 minutes drive from the shop but decided I wanted delivery but when it was delivered and I kindly said how late it was to only be told I’m lazy 😮😮also If there was only 1 delivery driver u do not tell the customer she they big you at expected delivery! very disappointed

Unfortunatly the restaurant was “busy” when I ordered: I found that out when I phoned to enquire where my order was. The delivery driver then told me upon arrived that our address was ‘difficult to find’ (they’ve delivered here before, and been on time). The food is good- i’ve eaten from here before, but because it took so long to arrive quality was poor when it got here. Disappointing on this occasion as they’ve been good previously.

Food was great - however we ordered and paid for prawn crackers and they never arrived.

We visited this restaurant on 8th of September as a party of 13,which had been booked several weeks earlier. It took approximately 2hrs for the food to arrive with one meal not even cooked,they did not charge for this meal when it did arrive but not an apology or anything. I have written to the restaurant with my complaint and they have not even had the manners to reply or acknowledge my complaint,so after over at least twenty years of being customers we shall certainly not be returning as not only was the service non existent the food when It did arrive was certainly not up to the standard we expected,the restaurant was actually very quiet so no reason why the service was so bad,but they were more interested in getting the takeaways sent out,even had to wait about 15 minutes for two drinks to arrive.

The food was amazing! I could eat those ribs all day. The soft noodles were beautiful too. Delivery time was an hour and it did come after 45-50 minutes but it’s a Friday night so it’s to be expected. This is the 2nd time we’ve ordered and this will be our only Chinese going forward. The only thing I would mention is the service charge. I think it’s unnecessary with the food prices

Was a quiet Monday evening when we visited, not too many places open on Mondays these days. Chose the vegetarian set meal which had soup, starter and main course for £10.90 which was good value. Staff friendly and efficient and food lovely and hot. Had a makeover since we last visited, looks much better now.

We visited here on a Saturday evening at 6.15pm for a long standing booking with a party of 13 celebrating my Mums 75th birthday..

Very average food and way overpriced for takeaway food. Much better options locally.

best chinese I’ve ever been too unfortunately on 2 occasions I’ve paid for prawn crackers and they haven’t turned up. I rang up and was told they would send them out but no sign of any. last night it wasn’t as hot as usual and seemed pretty cold with soggy chips! not as happy as the first couple of times I ordered and I would like my money back for the prawn crackers that I have twice not received

A report of 2 halves. The mixed starter was delicious, the chicken chowmein very nice, but the chicken curry was awful and not edible. The chips were lovely. Normally the Golden Dragon is exceptional.

Driver would not listen to instructions when he could not find my house. Had to meet the driver at a specific location, food was over 30 minutes late.

Food taste good , sauce was rather thin though .Portion size bit smaller than expected for price .and late delivery .But overall nice food and will probably look at trying something else see if its as tasty .
