Golden Dragon in Lancaster

We had a delivery tonight. We ordered here as usual place was closed. I’m glad it was the food from golden dragon was excellent. Best we’d had in a long time . I had sizzling beef Cantonese . Was excellent . So was the other meals. We will def use again

The food was awful which is not normal but not sure why the duck came with shredded lettuce? And the duck did not taste great - but normally the food is superb so maybe a one off - but you asked for a review.

Todo lo que puedo decir es que la comida en este lugar es encantadora, pero la discriminación que recibimos ha significado que no volveremos. Definitivamente nos trataron diferente de otros clientes en el restaurante debido a nuestra sexualidad. No pudieron sacarnos del restaurante lo suficientemente rápido a pesar de que nuestra factura llegó a más de £ 48. Me hizo sentir físicamente enfermo. ¡Evita este restaurante si eres gay!

Good portion food, only disappointment was was a late arrival and then food was also cold.

Ordered sweet n sour vegetables and salt and pepper chips, drink all in the £15 deal. Also received large bag of Prawn crackers. Meal arrived via really lovely delivery guy booked by restaurant. Was hot, well packaged and tasted great. Recommend to anyone

Food is very tasty i like the prawn fried rice but to my suprise i think the price is too much for a little serving takeaways compared to other Chinese. My toasted prawn is 2 pcs sliced i can get 5-6 to other. Not much prawn for a 7.50 small tub fried rice as well as soup. It was tasty but not well justified price for the amount of servings. Not worth the money.

Food was nice but when ordering it said dlvy time 60-75 mins it arrived 125 mins later, so I couldn’t eat my tea before going to work

2 chicken dishes both very chewy. Salt n pepper chicken had no salt n pepper taste to it. It was so bland. Won’t be ordering from them again. Delivery was early

Freshest food I’ve ordered in along time

Decididamente 'extraño' servicio en esta ocasión. Visitando un par de veces al año y siempre en agosto por un cumpleaños, a pesar de ser solo una pequeña fiesta este año (compromisos de trabajo a mitad de semana podaron nuestro número) reservamos la mesa con antelación. Dos de nosotros llegamos temprano, esperamos a un amigo, y pedimos agua que vino. El mismo miembro del personal repetidamente se devolvió para ver si estábamos listos para ordenar a pesar de que todavía falta el tercero, que llegó a la hora reservada. Cada vez tranquilizan 'tómate el tiempo que quieras". En una visita el personal preguntó si "estamos pagando en efectivo o con tarjeta" (¿por qué? ) En el último bob de vuelta, justo antes de que nuestro amigo llegara se llevaron el menú de bebidas! El amigo de cumpleaños llegó, hicimos nuestro pedido de comida, pero no nos preguntaron sobre bebidas, y la solicitud de la devolución del menú de bebidas no fue escuchada - decidimos que el agua estaba bien (y más barato). Antes de que llegara la comida un miembro del personal, NO preguntando se llevó los palillos. ¿Nuestra asombrosa suposición debe ser que se asumió que tres mujeres europeas maduras no pueden usar palillos? ¡Sí que pueden! Para uno de nosotros era particularmente parte de disfrutar de la cocina china, por lo que nuestro amigo dijo a la parte de atrás (del miembro del personal) que sale rápidamente "Quiero palillos"! Por lo demás la comida era buena. Pero nuestro disfrute fue eclipsado por el servicio muy peculiar que experimentamos; que impactó el ambiente general y la sensación de nuestra visita.

Decidedly 'odd' service on this occasion. Visiting a couple of times a year & always in August for a birthday, despite only being a small party this year (mid week work commitments pruned our number) we booked the table ahead. Two of us arrived early, waited on a friend, & asked for water which came. The same staff member repeatedly bobbed back to see if we were ready to order despite still missing third, who arrived at the booked time. Each time they reassure 'take as long as you like". On one visit the staff asked if we "are paying by cash or card" (why?) On the last bob back, just before our friend arrived they took away the drinks menu! The birthday friend arrived, we made our food order, but we weren't asked about drinks, & the request for the return of the drinks menu went unheard - we decided water was fine (& cheaper). Before the food arrived a staff member, NOT asking took away the chopsticks. Our stunned assumption must be it was assumed that three mature female Europeans can't use chopsticks? Erm, yes they can! For one of us it was particularly part of enjoying Chinese cuisine, so our friend said to the rapidly departing back (of staff member) "I want chopsticks"! Otherwise the food was good. But our enjoyment was overshadowed by the very peculiar service we experienced; which impacted the general ambience & feel of our visit.

Decent food overall, not a bad night out

So disappointed. Looked forward to this all week. The won ton nuggets had no prawns in any. We ordered £33 pounds worth of mixed hors d’oeuvres and non had prawn in. The half duck was dry and tasteless and hardly any of it at £22.00. The mains were ok, but for a renound and more expensive Chinese in Lancaster. I would be reluctant to order again.

Ordered at 10pm and order never showed up called them 4 times and was told 20 mins but never showed up they were rude and won’t give a refund

Been here a few times over the years, everything fairly well worn and the food was fine.

Awful. I ordered at 17:59. Finally received at 19:52 after me calling to ask where my order was twice and being reassured once at 19:10 that it was 20 minutes away. The guy on the phone was rude and curt. He apologised but was offhand about it and slammed the phone down on me twice. Unprofessional and a terrible first experience with this takeaway. I won't be ordering from them again and will recommend my friends and family to AVOID.

It's been a while since I have eaten out at a Chinese restaurant and was excited for this. The food was a bit of a mixed bag though, we got one of the set meals which did seem slightly overpriced (although was actually a lot of food). The duck was very good and I enjoyed the pork fried rice (even if a little greasy). The hot and sour soup was a little too gloopy which made it unappetising and the rest of the dishes were just ok.

Worst experience ever.... Rude staff, liars, absolutely terrible service. Ordered around 2hrs ago via just eat, about 1.5hrs later phoned to check as had said out for delivery for 30 mins, said were not delivering until had a phone number, gave phone number and was told would be here in 30 mins. 35 mins later nothing, so phoned them and was told by a rude manager would be another 30 mins a total of 2.5hrs wait... Advised him I'd spoken to a member of staff and had told me was only going to be 30 mins, he told me that the member of staff hadn't said that at all. Rude, liars, and wouldn't refund money immediately never ever recommend

Had a meal out just before easter and it was very good. We had a set meal and my daughter decided to go with her fav dish, all food was delicious and service courteous and prompt. Would definitely return.

For me the best Chinese restaurant in Lancaster and surrounding areas. Great food, fantastic service from waiters/waitresses and a very pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended.

Don't waste your time and money. Unfortunately The Goldon Dragon is a shadow of its former self. None of the little inexpensive touches (like oranges, hot towels and a fortune cookie) at the end of your meal. The toilets were shabby with an old rusty radiator, wide open window and only very cold water to wash your hands (in the middle of winter) but the worst thing was paying with cash and not getting any change let alone a receipt. The Golden Dragon is an expensive takeaway with tables, not a restaurant. Very disappointing and not somewhere I will be returning.

Food was fine. Delivery instructions clearly stated not to call and the gate code was provided. Proceeded to call and not use the gate code only to complain about it on delivery. People have not struggled with this in the past so I know the instructions should have been read.

Ok so we order from here all the time but honestly the food was awful the price they charge for ribs which at a guess I think was 6.50 there were 4 ribs in the box and hardly anything on them.. the chicken foo young didn’t taste fresh and was rubbery my husband said his chow neon was ok but to say we paid 43.00 it was totally disappointing to say the least

You need to work on your Telephone manors! If you don’t want to take delivery orders before 5pm, update your website, don’t answer the phone, be rude and then hang up! Or a simple explanation that it may take longer/ time of arrival is all you needed to say. Won’t be bothering again plenty more friendly Chinese to choose from in Lancaster!

Only ordered 3 things and got a boiled rice instead of chips. Man on phone was very apologetic and offered to send some out but it would have been too late not to mention the waste of food. Ruined the meal as I like to dunk my chips in the s+s sauce, will put me off ordering regularly as there’s a clear lack of quality control

Myself and my family had frequented this establishment for years - most of my life in fact. I won’t order Chinese from anywhere else in Lancaster and will highly recommend it to out of town guests when they’re visiting. I’m disappointed therefore to have to say that in recent years it’s certainly lost its charm and uniqueness. Although the food is still wonderful, the extra touches they used to provide whilst dining in such as peanuts on the table, hot plates for sizzling dishes, fresh oranges after your meal and warm towels made all the difference - to me it made Golden Dragon that “special place” you had to book to celebrate momentous occasions. The customer service used to be exemplary but again that personal touch seemed somewhat lacking recently - it used to be the case you couldn’t finish your drink before they’d be over to fill your glass; wonderfully attentive. However, as an example on our most recent visit we ate off side plates as they failed to bring out bowls or check on us before we finished our meal. I’m writing this in the hope you’ll hear a little of this feedback and be able to inject a little bit of the magic back into the experience becuase I truly want Golden Dragon to continue to thrive in Lancaster for many years to come.

Cold food very very poor quality

Ordered the food at 20.16 and it arrived at 22.46. Rang Golden Dragon 3 times each time was told it would be 5 mins. Terribly service.

Not happy!!!!I was told it would be 20 min late. When I went to speak the very rude man ended the call…. This is a joke and I expect a big refund. Very disappointed from one of our favourite takeaways in Lancaster

been waiting over 2 and a half hours for the food to arrive and it still isn’t here.

Total shambles, overpriced, 3 hr delivery, wrong food & cold. Rude customer service, couldn’t speak and hung up on me. Good bye after 15 years ordering.

The food was good but the customer service was beyond horrendous. The waiter with no hair was very rude and ill-mannered. The entrance door did not put a sign that the restaurant was closed so we went it. Then he said with a condescending tone, “Can’t you see I’m cleaning? We are not open yet”. This was the second time that he treated customers this way. First time, he was also crass and rude. I hope this establishment would find a better waiter or invest in training their waiter in properly.

My food was 2 hours late due to only having one driver on apparently every time I called I was lied to and hung up on would of rather received a refund and no food as service was appalling

3 off us popped in for Dinner on a Tuesday. 3 starters / 3 mains / 3 sides - food was excellent service quick and efficient with no rush to move us on. Recommended & would return

This is the earliest Chinese restaurant in Lancaster. The chef here perfectly blends Chinese food with Western taste, and the waiters are busy and professional.

The delivery driver didn't pull into our drive way and parked a long way away from our address and was rude on the phone, he eventually turned around driving like a maniac, then wheel spun off down the road like a stupid boy racer!

Mixed starter is amazing, especially the prawn toast and wontons (super crispy). Little expensive but Chinese generally are and definitely worth it.
