Golden City Chinese Take Away in Telford and Wrekin

Have been coming here since the 90s. The man at the desk has always be pleasant and helpful. The food has always been on time, piping hot, delicious and there has always been enough for everyone. We usually buy a mix and share. Makes it even more enjoyable.

Best Chinese take away in Telford

Chicken in the sweet and sour Cantonese was very tough, very hard to cut and chew. Sweet and sour balls were very measley in size for the price and the sweet and sour sauce in general wasn't very nice which you didn't get much of either making the food dry. Only thing decent was the chips. Not going here any time soon.

£5.40 for what can only be described as a kiddies portion of over cooked chips and a tub of gloopy curry sauce. Baring in mind that the chips were £2,80 so £2.60 for curry sauce. Absolute extortion at its best. Call yourself salt bae if your going to sell over priced, less than average food ffs

Very pleased with the food here, quality excellent and flavoursome. Some people mention portion sizes but I found it adequate and I'm a big eater. Usually use a Chinese nearer me but definitely worth the extra drive.

Read some reviews that said about poor portion size and not much meat in chow main. But I couldn't disagree more! Great quality and quality and had a big ratio of mean in my chow main. It tasted amazing, and the price was pretty decent, too. Guy behind the counter made me laugh, gave us wooden folks and we asked if they had any chopsticks. He said no, and was genuinely shocked that someone would ask for them instead of a folk 🤣

Food was cold and some was missing

Expensive,not full portions & in my sweet & sour Cantonese chicken there was more pineapple than meat ! Fried rice was just that not egg fried rice.Daughter liked the chips though.

So the food was nice, I am not here to complain about the quality of food, bar the spring rolls, they literally had no filling whatsoever. The portion sizes are an absolute joke! I should have been given half price because I only got half the food! Like, who only half fills a container and tho me that’s acceptable. Never again.

Over this way with work. I can honestly say the food was brilliant. Was expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. Thank you

Just had a chinese from here for the first time (i always use one in oakengates) Golden City cost £10 less in total for the same food and the food was 100 times better. Easily the best chinese iv ever had so will always be using this chinese in the future

Just had the Crispy Beef with Egg Fried Rice (Paid extra because of the rise in the price of eggs!). The Beef was all gristle and inedible (it went in the bin) and I got plain Fried Rice NOT Egg Fried Rice that cost extra. Complete RIP OFF.

Fantastic food, large menu, quick service, helpful staff.

Food was cooked nice house special fried rice was not greasy nor was the chicken balls but the house special curry was disappointing dew to the lack of meat and prawns also there was no fortune cookie which is something I look forward too 😅 prawn crackers I had to buy extra which with other Chinese places I have had a free bag with orders over £20 I would not be buy from here in a hurry.

They should update their website for times very disappointing ringing to be told closed when they say open happened more than once regular but dissatisfied with customer service in fairness

Sweet sour sauce was tangy and not what sweet sour is supposed to taste like chips also were all brown and soggy just wasn't great won't won't coming back:/

Disappointing.. got home after collecting and the order was wrong. Instead of chicken chow mein it was chicken and pork, most left as other half doesn't like pork. Ribs weren't overly nice and sauce very thick. ..we have had meals from here before that have been nice though.

O.k. but not a patch on David Chiu.

Our favourite Chinese by a long shot. Food is always great and never had any problems. Only wish that they delivered.

First time ordering from here. The food was ok, nothing special. The BBQ sauce was thick and jelly like, not how we like it. The chips were disgusting, we think they were just frozen chips, fryed in dirty tasting oil. Prawns tasted dirty. Chow mein very greasy. Sorry but we won't be ordering from here again.

clean place and friendly staff,only tried traditional English curry dishes but very nice ---only taking cash at present for orders.

Fast service. Piping hot food and good serving sizes. They don't deliver, which must be a management unique selling point. Most meals are ready in 10 minutes. No faffing chasing a delivery I suppose?

Love this take away and wouldnt go to any other. My parents used this place when I was younger and it's all I've known and it's the only one I will use. Food is always amazing and never had any problems and always greeted with such smiley happy friendly faces. Always roasting hot tasty food and really good portions. I've tried many chinese food take always and nothing compares or comes close to this place. Definitely reccomend if you are looking for amazing food

Awful food I ordered it and had the runs the day after the staff were horrible on the phone and in person. The shop looks like a ramshackled shack that came out of the war. On the contrary I made £10,000 of them from the sue because they gave food poisoning to my workers at the little theatre.

Been coming here for over 15 years. Over the last few we noticed the decline in quality of their food. I recently has a major change in my diet and they could not help at all. If you have an diary/egg allergy I wouldn’t bother here. Simply because they don’t know what’s in their food so why should you trust them?

Ordered 2 of the shredded chicken in fruity sauce and a chicken in lemon sauce. All the checken was really dry and there was no fruity sauce with the food. Waste of £18

Used to use this place frequently. Have been twice since and not impressed. First time after returning to the UK, found prices were high. Went tonight 5/01/2018. Ordered Chicken Strips with fruity sauce, got dehydrated chicken strips, reheated with no sauce. Don't bother, as we are now going to try Oakengates.
