Golden City Chinese Cuisine in Lewisham

I have been a regular customer of golden city for years. Ordered my food tonight at 6.52 pm I was told the food would be 1.5 hours the time now is -9.25 pm and after 3 phone calls still haven’t received our order.- offered a 10% discount are they joking !! Absolutely no customer service or any loyalty I will never order from this restaurant again. I would advise you to do the same.

Placed an order through deliveroo, nothing ever arrived. Called them a few times whilst waiting but very hard to get through to and when i did they just kept saying it was on its way. Nothing arrived. They also refused to refund and never answered the line and when they did the guy just stopped speaking and put the phone down on me. Avoid this place, absolute garbage place

Qué puedo decir, solo mira las fotos. Se suponía que era arroz frito con huevo (el color lo dice todo) y pollo chow mein (no pudo encontrar ningún pollo) estaban ocupados, pero en lugar de decirles a los clientes que sirven comida que solo es apta para el contenedor.

Llegó alrededor de las 1: 50 y pidió no tener ningún huevo en mi comida debido a una alergia. La mujer en el mostrador me dijo groseramente que me cobrarían extra por NO tenerlo en mi comida. Toda su respuesta fue muy hostil y su respuesta fue que estoy desperdiciando comida. . . lo suficientemente alto para que todos en el restaurante lo oigan. Embarazoso. Solo sirve para mostrar que la comida no es fresca. Si el gerente está leyendo esto, el servidor era femenino, corto y negro y asiático.

Ordered at 8:30pm, order still isn't here at 10:10pm. Rang the restaurant, either no response or telling us the driver is on their way! The driver doesn't pick up either! Absolutely ridiculous. Tried to get compensation, was offered £5 JustEat voucher.

I have been a regular customer of Golden City Chinese for countless years. Tonight I ordered some food and realise I had to cancel the order. I called back in 4 minutes and they insist that I pay for the food. Their greed for £12 lost them a weekly customer and all my family and friends.

We ordered a take away, and collected it. The order was spring rolls (which were quite burnt), chilli beef, sweet and sour king prawn balls, chicken chow mein, chicken satay, egg fried rice, seaweed and a pork dish. The satay was inedible and we couldnt even get some of it off the wooden skewers, the other dishes all arrived in a sickly sweet red sauce - making them all taste the same and very disappointing. The seaweed was the best dish! Even the rice was quite glutinuous and also had the red sauce running through it. We would not recommend the (almost) £50 spent as well deserved and wont be vusiting again.

Have ordered twice from here, I have tried a few other similar restaurants in south london but this one is the best. Food was delicious and not greasy or oily, good delivery.

We looked up this place as we were in the area and needed to kill an hour so thought let's try it as Chinese is our favourite dish. Pretty impressed,clean place, staff lovely and food good too. And really not expensive for the quality. Will definitely go back or order take away.

Ordered off the just eat website as it had 5 stars. We ordered chicken chop suey, not the best dish, hardly any bean sprouts and quite tasteless. Bbq spare ribs, far too salty and lastly, sweet and sour prawn balls, the balls were ok but the sweet and sour sauce tasted like a really sweet strawberry sauce you would put on ice cream! Bloody terrible, would never order from here again

Décor is minimal. You are basically looked at from outside as there are no lace curtains just clear glass panes. Food is served quickly and they do quite a busy take away trade. Menu selections slightly irritating - eg Singapore fried rice, rather than vermicelli noodles, Roast Duck and Fried Rice rather than boiled. Special mixed curry was light on spice and essentially chicken, thin bits of char siu and little shrimps, already put on the ubiquitous fried rice, £5. Chinese tea about a quid. Nearby indian diners had asked for chili oil and this would be tactic if there's a next time. Service was fast. Some regulars swear by it, I always find its slightly light on flavour here compared to other take aways and certainly to Chinatown and Cantonese restaurants.

i wanted to try a new Chinese takeaway, what a mistake ordering from here. It took quite a while to even put my order in as the lady spoke very little English and for some reason couldn't understand my address! It was very over priced for the greasy not very tasty meal we received. Won't be ordering from here again!

This place has great food best to take away as has very limited seating inside. Good value for money too.

We have lived in Sydenham for over 30 years and when we have a Chinese takeaway we always go to Golden City. We had a takeaway last Friday and the food was very well cooked and we did not have to wait too long for delivery and when it arrived it was piping hot. The food was very tasty with just the right amount of spice and the pancake rolls are excellent. We had egg fried rice, sweet and sour port, chicken in black bean sauce (which was excellent) and a beef curry and could not fault any of it. We have eaten in there as well but admittedly not recently and the meals we had were very well presented and great value for money I suppose every restaurant has its off day but I do not think the negative reviews are justified. Give it a try.

They send you the wrong meals if you order a take away. It arrives spilled the order is wrong and has hair in it! And then they tell you not to come back to them when you complain and ask for a change. Never ever going back

I used to enjoy coming here as the food was really nice. However, it has been refurbished and it looks way too bright and you can see diners as you walk down the street. I have wanted to go in but didn't go in as I didn't want the whole world watching me as I eat. Sorry won't be going in which is a shame.

This restaurant has recently reduced it's dining area, to concentrate more on take-away, which I think is a shame as their food in the restaurant and their service is superb. However, we recently stopped in to eat there, and , despite the reduced tables we had the best meal I think we have ever had, and we've been eating there, and ordering their take-away for more years than I care to remember. You do feel like you are eating in a bit of a goldfish bowl as there are plate-glass windows with no blinds or curtains.The wine list is good, and prices very reasonable.

Go with an empty stomach! Set meals at around £15 for two. There are favourites such at shredded beef, sweet and sour chicken, chicken with black bean sauce and yellow bean seafood mix. Good value in a small, intimate setting.
