Edit. 6/9/24 Since this review the staff have improved vastly. The big guy taking the order is friendly and polite. Now would recommend this takeaway. Food is good but it's not exactly sevice with a smile. Can be very abrupt on the phone too.

Been a customer here for a few years, yes the prices have increased but as has everywhere! Food is as tasty as ever, never had a bad meal. Very impressed that if I want to request slight modifications to dishes ( having a fussy teen at home) these are always met. Friendly delivery drivers too, thanks Golden Chef for maintaining standards over the years, had another lovely takeaway tonight!

Best chinese. Lovely food and packed to the brim

With all their price increases we've been using this take away less and less, but fancied a Chinese last week. Shouldn't have bothered. The salt and pepper chips were too hot to enjoy, the chow mein more like boiled noodles with a mean bit of meat thrown in and a sauce that poured like water. The place seems to have stopped smiling at customers, and as was overheard, you've now got to spend over £15 plus delivery charge to get a free (but increasingly smaller - now there's an oxymoron) bag of prawn crackers. More take with no give for poor quality food and service.

Foods always been great. We have been ordering for years from parkside. Recently been living in wildwood and had about 5 orders from here, no problem. Know been told its too far for them to deliver. We will soon be back on parkside, this puts us off ordering from here anymore. Unfortunately they have no loyalty to there regulars.

I reviewed this takeaway a few years back as my go Chinese in Stafford, but having had extremely variable quality served up over the past year, together with wrong orders and numerous price increases (seems like 3 over the past 12 months) which are a bit of an insult given the quality, it's now getting a big thumbs down from me. We all have come to expect price increases, but frankly these owners and their chefs think they can play people for fools, giving thoroughly mean portions of meat in their dishes like the fried rice, and a lemon chicken that consisted of almost pure batter. If there was any meat in it it was no thicker than a pre sliced piece you'd buy in a supermarket packet. A pity, as it was one of my favourites dishes. I've also been served up practically raw onion in dishes too, and flavourless noodles. Extremely variable quality and portions. I've also been told of poor hygiene standards and poor treatment of loyal staff who've sadly now left. They seem to be running it with youngsters who never smile or greet customers, take orders down wrongly and don't have the manners to say please or thank you. Chatting with the friendly staff and drivers was always a nice part of the visit. Very sad, but I've now taken my custom elsewhere. The standards of service, food, portions, quality and cooking have gone well, well done, whilst prices have gone up. Sorry Golden Chef but the British public are not fools, and they don't like to feel cheated when paying good money, or hear of poor behind the scenes hygiene standards, or loyal staff being treated with disrespect and contempt.

Been coming here for YEARS. Food has always been great, and alison has always made sure everything ran smoothly and everything was always right, no issues happy customer, tried to make an order the other day with somebody new, i rang up for delivery, quite rare as i normally collect, but had no energy after work, i was told orders over £15 comes with free crackers great, ordered got delivered and gave driver £20, £5 tip and there was no crackers, rang up and said no crackers not included with a delivery charge, i said im a very regular repeat customer every 3-4 days. Was told would knock some money off next order, rang up 2 days later and said no discount, but a bag off free crackers was all! Forget it and my loyalty for YEARS to this place. GONE. Wont be going back nor no longer recommending this business to any of my friends or family. Customer Service - ZERO.

First and last time ordering from this Chinese, absolutely dreadful! I asked for my chow mein and rice extra spicy which they totally ignored as they were both bland with no level of spice whatsoever. Seaweed loaded with sugar and the shredded chicken in chili sauce was hard and chewy.

We regularly use this takeaway as the food and service are outstanding the delivery is quick they know who we are by the phone and the food is so consistent all ways good never bad we have used them for 3 years and is our go to Chinese never go elsewhere plus we have found it to be fantastic value they are always present when ordering or delivering highly recommended.

Ordered over the phone to be delivered to the premier inn, the food was dreadful, no taste and acidic, and just full of bean sprouts…been up since 5am only meal of the day which wasn’t fit for a dog. Can of coke was ok😳

Customer service absolutely shocking! I spend a fortune at this Chinese yet today they lost me as a customer due to a mistake they made! Bad attitude and rude. Also said they don’t remember their customers so they don’t care about loosing them!

I was quite disappointed with the chicken in black pepper sauce tonight, it tasted like water, I could not eat it. We order quite often from here and tonight as put me off.

After having a bad meal a few months ago, we gave it another go tonight, to be dissatisfied again, no taste to chips and gravy, egg fried rice tasted stale, no taste to the beef chowmein and the chicjen valks in batter were not so nice either. What a waste of good money.

The only Chinese I will use. Their food is spot on. Theu truly never fail to disappoint me. Have been using them for years and they've always been this good.

Your food is simply the best, however we ordered two beef Curry's with egg fried rice, why have you changed to serving both in the same container? It's a personal choice to do the mixing, not enough sauce for the amount of rice

Worst meal I've had could cook better myself tiny bits of meat two shrimps in a Singapore noodles which tasted so bland won't be using again

Credit given where credit is due! Whilst staying away this came up as a really close takeaway to the premier inn. I ordered the appetisers for one and the Singapore chow Mein. Enjoyed every mouthful, so thank you very much!

Not open, 20 minutes after I paid I received a message saying you were closed but you still took payment from my debit card. Not impressed, says you are open on Google and your website still allows people to put through an order and takes payment. 1st time trying you, won't be bothering again. I expect a full refund.

Absolutely the best Chinese ever,food always hot and so tasty and nothing is to much trouble like I have my curry with no onions or carrots.Delivery service is spot on and we haven't waited to long for a delivery even tho we are the other end of town.Cant recommended this Chinese enough,good value for the money.

Use to be our go to Chinese since we moved here but last couple of orders were messed up.Chicken was raw and was a huge disappointment.

I thought I'd leave a review here, as this is my local Chinese. I live literally round the corner. The food is great, always tasty, always hot, and the lady that works behind the counter, not only takes orders, but I also see her delivering sometimes when there is no one else. Yes they only take cash if you enter the shop and pay, but you can order online at Big Foodie for delivery or collection. I personally never carry cash, so always order online and say i'll collect. The lady who works there works like a trojan and comes from a fair way away if memory serves me right. The one thing that might explain a few of these reviews are delivery drivers. i think they struggle, but then again, seeing an advert the other day for a delivery driver for there, at £5 an hour (Illegal!) plus £1 per delivery + tips, this might explain the wait that some people have had for deliveries. Personally, i think this is a great chinese and i'm lucky that i can just pop round and collect it. I think they need to employ some delivery drivers, on a proper wage, and then maybe that side of the business will run more smoothly, but in terms of food quality, its top notch!

some reviews are very contradictory personally I think this is one of the best Chinese in Stafford very well organised down to the phone keeping your address when you order and a very pleasant lady taking the order never waited over30 minutes and food is always red hot and super tasty delivery service is great by a. Lovely young lady so you can see why I’m confused I have tried plenty of other Chinese and was so pleased to find the golden chef it proves don’t always believe what you read let your own tastebuds decide as I’m sure you will not be disappointed with food or price I have50000 folllowers and always try my best to set them right keep safe.

Order did not and the order was not processed and we wated 3 hours this is not recommended would not order again

Have rung up a few times as order was placed two hours ago to be told the order is on its way. We are 10 mins from the takeaway and apparently left them over 35 mins ago. Rude staff who said they are extremely busy and what did I expect them to do about it? I asked them just to fulfil the order and if was going to be delayed wouldn’t it be polite to ring and advise? Their response she was if I wasn’t ringing to check where it is then they couldn’t ring as I was on the phone ..but they haven’t got time as it’s too busy. Also because we lived in Seighford she said our order had to wait until there was another order going in our direction!?? We are still waiting . Have ordered before with no problems. Have told them we won’t be ordering again and her response was “good luck trying to find someone to deliver to Seighford.” We have no problems finding people to deliver here.

Food was 2 1/2 hours late. Ring over a period of 1 1/2 hours and was told 3 times it was on its way even though we only live 20 mins away. Rang again and was told delivery driver had been to deliver and came back as the address was wrong. We checked on our end and it was right so the driver must have put it in wrong. Told again that the order hadn’t been confirmed even though again we have received confirmation on our end. Absolutely terrible service was rude on the phone was told I was talking to the manager who then told me she’d get a manager so she obviously lied when she told me she was the manager. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Absolute shambles of a business

FAULTLESS!!!!! THE BEST IN STAFFORD

We use this take way every other week, sometimes for collection or via internet for delivery. We've never had bad service and the food is always good. Might have waited for delivery on occasion but that just reflects how popular and busy they can get and how good the food is. Our favourites are crispy lemon chicken, barbecue spare ribs and salt and pepper chips. Never had a bad meal and they are our go to Chinese in Stafford

Tried alot of chinese takeaways in Stafford. This is by far hands down the best. Always hot, delicious and very tasty. I am usually very fussy being a chef myself but I have never had any complaints. Keep up the great work 😀

The fact the takeaway doesn’t exist on TA says it all!! You can only pay cash which in itself is dodgy and you can only order online via Big Foodie which it seems is very very unreliable. After waiting nearly 1.5hrs for nothing I was told by the takeaway they’d not received my order due to weather (dry and calm weather conditions are clearly very hazardous!!). Woman told me she was sorry, blah blah blah. Don’t use an online order platform if you can’t rely on them or fulfil online orders!! Having ordered several times before, this has ended my loyalty with the takeaway. I’ll absolutely go elsewhere from now on.

This is possibly the best Chinese I have ever had! It was super fresh, absolutely cooked to perfection and it will be the first of many. Can’t rate this place enough! We had lemon chicken, fried rice, seaweed, ribs and duck pancakes. Delicious! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I ordered a beef chowmain and straight away I could tell that it was poor quality beef it was very fatty and felt like it had been reheated a few times however the chowmain itself tasted nice

Great food, great menu and clearly really care about customer service, the food was really outstanding, the chicken so tender, everything I ordered had so much flavour and not only was the delivery on time it was early, greeted by a friendly face who clearly really cares and has confidence in the food and the takeaway, all round and in every way a five star experience!!
