Gnammy Italy in Stockport

Fantastic Italian food. If you haven't visited before - you should. I can honestly say the food is the nicest we've had in a very long time. We've had Italian food in the grove, Rome, Sorrento, Venice and many other places in the UK over the last few years - but this is the best. We had an arancino ball and a mixed garlic bread followed by an inferno pizza and penne pollo genervasie and some chips - with a litre of house red. The food was fantastic - I loved my pizza (have pizza all the time) and my wife had the pasta. I tried her pasta and loved it (never usually entertain pasta) . I would have this next time!!. This is a really fantastic family restaurant with great service. The bill was £59 - which is fantastic value in the current climate. We've visited before and always had a great time. You need to visit here as we need restaurants like this in the grove !!

From the outside it doesn't look so different from other choicesl, but wait for the welcome and then the really special genuine Italian food, this is an outstanding restaurant.

I visited this lovely restaurant for dinner with friends. One couple had visited several times and said how good it was. It did not disappoint. This is a family run restaurant, the food is absolutely delicious and is home cooked. The service was excellent as were the wines. I highly recommend

First visit to this restaurant last night and definitely won’t be the last! Food is excellent, authentic and reasonably priced. Service was good despite being short staffed and there were quite a lot of customers , the family clearly work together as a team and this is reflected in the friendly atmosphere. Wine is a wee bit pricey and is actually cheaper to buy by large glass than bottle, nevertheless Gnammy deserves a 5* review.

Just a fabulous experience….food and service were outstanding. The lobster ravioli was excellent. And absolute joy.

First time we have tried Gnammy. We have frequented Benvenutis for many years and wanted to try Gnammy because of the greater variety in the Italian menu. We had the half and half garlic bread/cheese and tomato followed by dishes from the hot starter/tapas selection. We are really glad we tried these as each option was fabulous. We had the aranchini ball, lamb skewers, pork ribs, garlic mushrooms and chips with a bottle of house red £56 total. Having visited Italy on more than one occasion in the last few years I can say that this meal would have been up at the top of the food we have tasted throughout Italy. Each dish was amazing. The restaurant looks great and has a great atmosphere inside - with a real family vibe (as they all work in it 🙂) We will be back soon. Give it a try.

We always enjoy Gnammy, although at busy times it can seem a bit chaotic! Always a great choice of well presented food with vegetarian options available. Pizzas are particularly good. We paid £54 for one starter, two mains, one dessert and one coffee and two large glasses of wine. Happy with that!

I am really pleased to have this restaurant on our door step, Great for a family meal, layout and ambience of restaurant works really well. Food reasonably priced in my opinion and couldn't fault food or service, really enjoyable meal. Will definitely be returning as lots more on the menu that we would like to try 😋

This place is a family run business and proud of their Italian heritage. I’ve eaten here many times now and rate this the best in the area. The starters are superb (particularly the prawns) the pizzas are delicious and OMG the Italian custard (Cremino) with chocolate and biscuits: Heaven. This place delivers every time and that’s why I keep going back

Visited Xmas day and ordered the turkey meal, certainly not disappointed it was beautifully cooked and served with a big happy smile. Could not resist the pistachio tiramasu it was gorgeous. The family are always friendly and take time to make you feel very welcome. Thank you

This place is really authentic with fabulous food. The pasta is beautifully made. try the burrata truffle incredible just like you would get in Italy. Have had deliveries as the restaurant is closed due to restrictions but will be going there when this all ends. Truly fabulous Italian cosine. A must visit!

I read other reviews and was sceptical - an Italian restaurant in Hazel Grove - that good? Boy, was I wrong!And I know Italian food - I’ve spent time in Lazio, the Sabine hills, Florence, Tuscany, Venice and Puglia, Genoa and the Amalfi coast - so I know good Italian food!I We had an arocino, parmigiana and the key test - lasagna - all delicious, perfectly made and authentic Yes we will be back!!!

Serves a wide variety of delicious Italian food in a very nice setting. I highly recommend the pizzas.

Lovely restaurant in stockport. Me and my partner came here a lot of time.we always had amazing experience. The staff is great, friendly and professional. The food is really good and high quality: the best pizza in town, tapas and tasty ravioli nduja pesto(my favourite). You can feel the real Italian taste in a family atmosphere. I can't ask more. We love you guys. xx

Heard lots of great reviews so gave this a try...we won’t return.Whilst the food was good quality the portions were tiny and we ended up stopping at McDonald’s as we were so hungry.And to top it off it was very expensive for what we received. £95 for two adult meals, two kids meals and only two alcoholic drinks is extortionate for such tiny meals. We would’ve been better ordering kids meals as they were bigger than ours! Add in the McDonald’s after and it was a very expensive evening for such a disappointing evening.I have given an extra star as I must say what little we did have was very nice. Increase the portions and justify the prices!Really disappointed

The restaurant has good reviews and was recommended by family and friends. We visited at 7pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. There seemed to be a lot of takeaways going out too.We ordered some small plates and 3 pizzas between 4 of us. The fried squid and courgette came out as squid and whitebait. After replacing it for us, we were given, mushy, oily courgette cooked in oil that couldn't have been warm enough.The vegetable pizza was raw dough on the base and had so much raw veg piled on top that it could never cook properly.The pesto pizza was wet but ok. The calzone was good, but had no tomato sauce on the top as stated on the menu. We ate it anyway as we were so hungry!We sent a lot of food back and the waiting staff were very nice about it. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and all the staff seemed really friendly.I'm sure this is a good restaurant that we caught on a very bad day. You can't blame restauranteurs for trying to recoup lost revenue this year, particularly with the months ahead so uncertain. That said, if you overwhelm the kitchen with orders, the result is really poor food, disappointed guests and 2 star reviews.

Really impressed!After being disappointed with a couple of Italians in Hazel Grove, we decided to give the new one a shot. Finally - some decent, homemade tasting Italian food which didn’t feel like it had come out of the freezer/microwave like others did. Fresh, great tasting food. Highly recommended. They had the restaurant well spaced so it felt safe and our waiter was really attentive. Will definitely be going again.

Being our first visit here we did not know what to expect. It was excellent, the food and the service was all first class. All the food is freshly made and the staff are very helpful. There is a large pizza oven there so next visit I will try a pizza, this visit I had Cannelloni which was delicious and my partner had chicken which was also superb. This is a new restaurant in the Grove and well worth supporting. I am now looking forward to our next visit!

We enjoyed a lovely meal here last night. The service was very good and friendly, and the food was delicious!

We enjoyed the food, wine and service, tables were well spaced and we were given single-use menus but while the rest of the staff wore masks but our waitress did not. We shall not return until the management can be bothered to take the most basic measure to keep us safe.

Food very poor. Returned a pasta dish as cold and under cooked. Other dishes dry. Won't be returning.

Very nice meal, Chicken Arribiata Pizza was delicious. Peroni on tap was cold and Fizzy. Would recommend whole heartedly.

This was my first visit to Gnammy, we wanted to try this Italian for a light lunch.Where do I start..... for starter we had the Garlic & Cheese Focaccia, Sticks & Crock, Borlotti E Salsiccia & Mama's Homemade delicious Meatballs, I know what you're thinking a light lunch and already 4 starters, honestly the dishes are so fresh and light that we had room for more, for our main we shared Pizza Capricciosa , the amazing thing about this restaurant is the pizza dough is so fresh, tasty and cooked right in front of your eyes , at this point we knew we would have to try a dessert , I went for the traditional Homemade Tiramisu and my friend had the amazing Drip Cake . Overall we were so happy with the food and the family behind the scenes are doing such an amazing job, we got to meet Mama in the kitchen and thank her for letting us experience her amazing Italian traditional food and we will certainly be back for more. This restaurant is a must and trust me you will not be disappointed.

Came here for lunch and to try and sheild from the rain. The staff were so friendly and always smiling and food was delicious. I had a mix of the tapas dishes with my favourite being the seafood salad. There's also a nice little grocery section inside the restaurant. Food was reasonably priced. Will be back

Visited a couple of times since opening and found on both occasions the food to be outstanding, service first class and a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Clearly very very good chefs, such a friendly atmosphere and the waitresses were very helpful and did a fantastic job. This is a very special place which you have just got to try, well done all.

I’d been waiting to try this restaurant for some time and it was well worth the wait!The staff were so attentive and polite. He focaccia starter was so good we were tempted to order another. The main courses were excellent - a credit to the chef! And finally the homemade tiramisu was out of this world! Will definitely be returning!!!

Delicious pizza with a thick fluffy crust just how I like it! The menu offers additional choice with plenty of options for pizza and pasta lovers! We went during the government offer but we would definitely go back again and pay full price it was that nice. By far the best pizza I’ve had in the local area and I’ve tried all of them!

We visited Gnammy Italy as a family with young children, a lady greeted us politely then showed us to our table and things soon started to go down hill. It took staff 30 minutes to take our drinks order, when we received the drink they were given in cans and not large as we ordered. They then eventually took our order another 20-30 minutes and the starters came and Some of which were wrong so we told the staff, apparently there had been a mix up with tickets so we waited longer for the correct starters to come, we were then given duplicated plates, we again told staff we had already eaten some of what they had brought again to us but the lady shrugged her shoulders and said we have had to do the ticket again so you can eat it. We ate our starters and no one came over for a while so we went up to ask the staff for another round of drinks to be told “you will have to wait 5 minutes we’re too busy!” We had already been in there about an hour and half at this point and considering the drinks were canned I don’t see why they couldn’t pass some drinks over to us and the place wasn’t overly busy from what I could see. Eventually we got more drinks and the mains came. When it was time to get the bill it came and we had been charged for “large” soft drinks we were also charged for the duplicates plates which was an error by staff Even though we told them at the time we had already had them. The lady then tried to say she didn’t say for us to have them. Eventually it was resolved but all the time we were in there we heard people complaining amongst themselves about the wait time and also overheard staff blaming one another for things which is very unprofessional in-front of customers. It’s such a shame as the food was really tasty but due to the poor customer service and how long it took we won’t be returning. Just over 2 and half hours isn’t acceptable. I didn’t look at reviews before we went and can see on here many people have enjoyed their experience there, maybe we went on an off night but never the less it has put me off returning.

Just had an unplanned lunch, googled an Italian near me and ended up at a restaurant I’d never heard of....Gnammy in Hazel Grove.The food was delicious- fresh, piping hot, simple yet delicious- exactly how Italian food should be. No kids menu but not needed as our waitress offered everything in half portions. The pizza bread is the best I’ve tasted outside Italy and London. I had the aubergine parmigiana which is a favourite of mine - it was truly delicious.Finally the desert: being a vegetarian I am used to being denied the classics - chocolate mousse, lemon parfait and sometimes cheesecake. Our waitress suggested a lemon mousse which I probably wouldn’t have ordered but I’m certainly glad I did! She bought along a sample of the cheesecake - once again, outstanding.Plenty of choices for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans, and any fusspots! Menu wasn’t huge but that’s usually a good sign.I can’t say enough good things about Gnammy and I’m really glad I discovered it . Great service, friendly staff, fine ingredients, delicious food.Outstanding!!!!!

Yummy!! They have just opened the brand new dining restaurant in Hazel Grove (on 4th July, in the Old Cock-a-doodle-moo premises).The spaghetti vongole (with clams in shells) was very authentic. We had the sharing anti-pasti platter... so huge! - for starters.... hams, salamis, cheeses, family-recipe pickkes/chutney, bread, walnuts... tasty...And then INCREDIBLE pastries for dessert!!Will definitely be going again soon... this family-run restaurant deserves to fly!!(A little pricey, but the flavours justify the prices!)Grazie!! <3

We have been twice since they moved to hazel grove. We used them for a take away when they were based in heavily and it was always exceptional. We love this new place too. The food is totally authentic, tasty and fresh. Brilliant pizza and pasta dishes. Service is always with a smile and it’s just a lovely warm traditional place to come. It’s a firm favourite for adults and children alike.

My husband and I had dinner at Gnammy last night and it was delicious. I have eaten before but my husband hadn't. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The food was fresh and delicious and excellent value for money. My husband was particularly impressed with his Lobster pasta. Great atmosphere and great food we will be going back.

Gnammy Italy is a true hidden Gem.Incredible Italian warmth & true taste of Italy.Not Italian food adapted for Brits but the true genuine Italian recipes.Its really is a unique experience.We have eaten from here and been so impressed.I then ordered a Tiramasu cake to be made for my husbands birthday as it’s his favourite dessert.We were not disappointed.Nothing was too much trouble.Paola was so helpful.The Tiramasu was magnificent.Highly recommend.Thank you Gnammy Italy!

Saturday night takeaway - we ordered a calzone, diavola pizza and cheesecake - all authentic and delicious and would definitely recommend the calzone. Great value and customer service. Will definitely be making a visit when the restaurant re-opens, until then it will be our go to pizza takeaway!

My wife ordered a takeaway for our wedding anniversary, the food was genuine authentic Italian cooked to a high standard. Every course was perfection from homemade meatballs, lobster ravioli,inferno pizza to the delicious cheesecake! The happy anniversary note and dessert was a nice finishing touch! Thank you to the gnammy staff for making our night. We will be visiting the restaurant when it's back open.

Had a few takeaways from this restaurant recently whilst staying in a near by hoteland found the food to be of a very good standard, staff are so friendly and welcoming too. Completely authentic and worth a visit.When the restaurant is open we will enjoy a sit down meal.

We had high hopes having read good reviews however our experience was poor. The environment was cold , when I mentioned this I was told to move seats. The environment is more leaning towards cafe than restaurant The focaccia bread was pizza base not nice fluffy focaccia at all . The lasagna was bland and the pizza was very soggy , overall a big disappointment and we will not return / recommend.

We attended here last night after seeing online reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to find a gem like this on our doorstep.Authentic, homemade family run business sums it up. We had a selection of tapas, I had the aubergine parmigiana which was one of the best I've tasted, the meatballs were beautiful. Our mains were equally good, the pasta is all homemade. The desserts were fantastic, and service was attentive. There is also a good selection of wines on offer.They use their families ingredients from Sicily and Naples, and it would highly recommend that locals support this gem rather than going to a big chain, you wont be disappointed.

Had dinner here at gnammy italy in stockport with a work colleague who also happens to be Italian, we both thought the food was fantastic. Very tasty and plenty of it. My colleague also tells me it was very authentic. The price was also very good! What a gem!!

Visited last week end at 6 pm as we were going to a show at the Plaza so were a bit rushed and would have liked to have taken more time and had some of the delicious looking Tiramisu.The garlic bread was one of the best I have had followed by Spaghetti Carbonara,equally good.The pizzas were huge and excellent. The Italian gentleman at the counter was very friendly as was the lady who served us,we had a good chat as it was quiet at that time.The food was obviously freshly prepared.Take no notice of the one bad rating,we would recommend this restaurant 100% and look forward to returning.Good luck in your new venture.

What a find! Fantastic food, friendly helpful staff and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Please go and see for yourselves how good it is.

I had a very enjoyable meal here on Saturday (with my husband, who is Italian, & our 2 boys aged 10 & 8). Staff were so friendly and helpful, food was lovely, we had some antipasti to start, then the boys had pizza, I had ravioli & my husband had the linguine alle vongole (linguine & mussels) all were delicious. Desserts were equally good (tiramisu, cannoli) & all very reasonably priced. Limoncello to finish the meal off! We eat a lot of Italian food & we were all impressed (especially my husband!). It is so nice that there is this hidden gem so close to home!! We will certainly be going back!

I went last night with two friends. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Only had a starter and a main as far too full for a dessert. Food was amazing, tasty, and little extras were offered such as chilli in oil, home made bread and olives. I will definitely be returning here

As someone else said, it's hard to understand why there aren't queues to get in this belting little restaurant. After visiting on the spur of the moment one night, we went again the following week for another try, and it won't be long before we're back. Run by a family from Sicily and Naples, a warm welcome, and the food is either freshly made on the premises or has been brought over from their own farm in Italy. Beautiful light pizza bases, freshly baked foccacia, delicious home-made cheese selection with honey from the farm, home-made meatballs (grandma's recipe, like nothing you'll find at Pizza Express; chef came out and explained how she makes these), rounded off perfectly with sambucca espresso.

What a hidden gem- how there isn’t a waiting list for reservations for this place- I don’t know!

First time in this little gem of a restaurant. Had the set menu , very reasonably priced, my daughters pizza was huge. Prepared in front of us and popped into their oven , was able to have uneaten pizza boxed to take away. Spaghetti with meatballs for me. Just delicious. Will definitely return.

I visited with my family as a spur of the moment venture. We were greeted very friendly and were offered to sit where we wanted. The first flag was the amount of seating in such a small area coupled with the garden furniture being presented to me. After adjusted to find some comfort we looked over the drinks/food menus, both were simple but well documented. Ordering the meat and cheese platter for starter, spaghetti & meatballs and Pesto pasta. Both being quite straight forward, I was excited for an authentic Italian taste in an area where less than a handful of Italian places exist.

Group of 4 dining tonight and we were blown away with how good the food was. The lady serving us gave us a complimentary desert which was extremely kind, and made by herself. (We were that full from starter and main we couldn’t think of desert)

We visit roughly once a month--usually with a guest or two. They usually come back--with a guest or two.

Have been meaning to try this for a while and it didn’t disappoint. All 3 courses were amazing! At the end I have to say we had the starter cheese board rather than a pudding. All the staff were lovely. We also got to try some of the new stuff!

Great food, good prices, tasty wine and beer. Best Italian in Stockport. Will be visiting again! My friend had the homemade raviolis, I had pasta with clams, everything cooked to perfection.

I visited Gnammy Italy on Friday 1/11/19 with 2 friends this was a rearranged visit due to the restaurant having to cancel unfortunately due to renovations not being finished they were very apologetic, and offered a bottle of wine or pudding if we visited at the end of September or early October. We were unable to visit until 1/11 but we're still offered free wine or a pudding . The food was delicious freshly cooked authentic Italian food,the service excellent and all at a very reasonable price . Would strongly recommend well worth a visit

Authentic, quality food and attentive friendly service. Great choices for veggie and meat eaters alike (unreal parmigiana!). Amazing italian coffee, home made cakes and milkshakes too. Have been getting takeaways here for a while and ate in for the first time tonight - cheese board starter in pic below came with complementary warm fresh baked foccacia bread. Love this place!

Came for my birthday meal last night, and I was so pleasantly surprised! I’ve been to San Carlo, Don Marco and other big, expensive Italians in Manchester, but I can honestly say this was the nicest I’ve had! The n’duja raviola is incredible! Definitely, definitely recommend. Exceptional service, too

Lovely Italian cafe and takeaway which has recently opened an evening restaurant. The food is delicious and extremely good value. Run by an Italian family who are passionate about preparing authentic southern Italian and Sicilian food. Friendly and efficient service. The decor is bright and modern. For me personally I would prefer the lighting to be lower in the eve. Apart from that this an amazing place that deserves to do well.

This is a wonderful little cafe. The food is far superior to many of the more expensive Italian restaurants around. The staff are so warm, genuine and very accommodating! Definitely a little gem. I do hope that they are successful. There are too many franchise fast food joints that lack what Gnammy Italy has; passion, soul and a real family atmosphere!

Absolutely awful, pizza bland, garlic bread had cheese on when requested we did not want cheese, pasta meal not very tasty, very unhelpful customer service when I rang , will not order again !, 0 out of ten

Great food, reasonably priced, friendly atmosphere. We had aracino which were delicious, the pizza was perfect and the desserts indulgent. Great coffee too.

On an overnight stay from Birmingham, We came across Gnammys looking for somewhere to lunch. Small, comfortable, family run and very friendly. Authentic food well cooked-infact delicious! The family cook all food. They even make the bread for their paninis. Try the delicious but hot chilli dip if you dare. Very friendly customer focused service and extremely good value. Next time we are in this part of the world will visit again.

We ordered a meal via Just Eat for the family and were left feeling disappointed.
