Had a lovely breakfast here with my partner on our visit to Edinburgh. We were the first bums in seats, and despite it being a grey, early New Years Eve morning, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and warm! The coffee here slaps. It's so good, and you can get plant-based milks if that's your thing! My partner had a fresh juice that rocked his world and had him ready for the Hogmanay ahead. These guys know what's up. We both had avocado toast- but the bagels looked delicious too. The food is super high quality, healthy, and fresh. The smallness of the space compliments the hygge décor and the atmosphere was perfect! Looking forward to our next visit to Edinburgh so we can come back. Thanks Glow!

Me and my friends visited last weekend during the fringe and even though the cafe was very busy the staff were still very friendly and helpful. The food came quick despite all of the tables being full and the staff took time to make sure we enjoyed everything and left happy. The coffee and cakes were amazing with a great choice for my vegan friends! I was reccomended the banana Nutella muffins as they had just come out of the oven and they did not disappoint - a must have if you visit. The coffee was very tasty and the barista was very knowledgeable on the coffee beans telling us where they are from and the various different types they offer having recently had coffee training from the company. Overall a lovely lunch experience and we will come back when we next visit!

I was super excited to visit this cafe as have walked past and seen reviews and it looked great. We walked in on one morning, it was very quiet and only a couple of other people besides us. Barely got a hi from the staff. Took ages to take our food order and the staff seemed flustered and struggling even though there was only a couple of tables in. The food was somewhat a disappointment - nothing majorly wrong with it but just a bit bland and not really what I expected. Definitely not value for money and very small portions. We were going to stay for dessert but decided against it after waiting for 10minutes for the staff to appear from the backroom. No check back or anything. I don't know if we just happened to go in on a bad day as everyone else seems to have had a very different experience, but we were super disappointed as expected a lot more.

This welcoming space was across the street from our hotel. Although service was on the slower side, it was made to order and very good. The restaurant was light and clean and a perfect place for a leisurely breakfast.

We mourn the day our favourite Edinburgh restaurant The Dogs closed. So we thought we'd check out proprietor David Ramsden's new project - a wee wine bar on Bread Street. Dogs, ponies... if you're an animal lover, you're in good company. But it's David's impeccable taste and dogged (!) commitment to quality that earned our loyalty years ago and keeps us coming back for more culinary adventures. The Fat Pony offers a range of truly hand-picked (and handmade) wines, meats and cheeses from around the world. Hand-picked but without the snobbery. There's a lot of choice, so don't be shy to ask for recommendations. The reply may be deadpan, but that's just theatrical bluffing, because this man always gets it right when I challenge him to surprise me! A stylish yet relaxed space, with good music playing in the background. A carafe of wine and a few tapas make for the perfect quick pre-theatre dinner - being just around the corner from the Lyceum, Usher Hall and Traverse. I was a bit embarrassed to ask for coffee after the beautiful Primativo, but David was ready with yet another surprise: great coffee served in the most divine Wedgwood cups! PS: Dogs welcome! PPS: Beautiful toilets!
