The Quaker Guest House is a great place to stay. The accommodation that we had was in a separate annexe in the grounds and was well appointed. The clientele tend to be of a certain type and it would appear that many have been coming for a good number of years. The food was fine but you do have to share a table with other guests and share in the conversation which may not suit everyone. Afternoon tea is served every afternoon and is complimentary which is a nice feature. There are extensive grounds too for the children.

Don't order the Salmon. Nothing wrong with the taste, but quantity was another matter, not enough. I will be leaving hungry. On the plate was a piece of Salmon, one spoonful of spinach and one very small round potato cake. My husband fared better with the Gammon, a much better deal. So I had to sit and wait for him to finish. My meal had taken less than 10 mins to finish.

What a cracking town pub this is. Since Steve and his team took over just under a year ago joined with an extensive refurb the place has just gone from strength to strength. Whether it’s live sport, karaoke, live music, disco night or just a quiet family drink there’s rarely a week that passes where the George fails to deliver. To top it off it’s probably the cheapest bar in town too. Keep up the good work a credit to the Kendal pub scene.
