At the end of one the most stunning long drives in Scotland is this hidden gem. Situated by the edge of the River Lyon, surrounded by robins and swallows, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch of delicious tomato and pepper soup, quiche and a warm pastrami panini. Accompanied by coffee and lapsang souchong tea and served by warm and charming staff. Magical!

This is a great place to stop when going through GlenLyon. We stopped after some Munro walking and were delighted that the tearoom was open until 5pm. The location is absolutely stunning. The coffee shop has a number of tables outside looking out onto GlenLyon. We had two coffees, an irn bru and traybake. Pricing was reasonable considering the location. The service and coffee was first class. Well done all.

We went twice to this beautiful tea room while we were on holiday in the area. The first time with our friends who were staying with us and the second time just my husband and I. On both occasions we absolutely loved it. The location is amazing perched on the side of the hill overlooking a picturesque valley and river. It is a bustling place with both cyclists and drivers having lunch here and as it is a quite a long drive (but well worth it) many would have made the tea room their destination. We all had the soup (three different ones between us) and each one was excellent. The cakes are delicious and very hard to choose which one to have as they all look wonderful. We even took a slice each home for the evening too. Very friendly and welcoming staff too. A total gem of a tearoom.

We have read the great reviews about Glenlyon Tea Room and so were keen to visit during our recent holiday. We called in for lunch and we both had homemade minestrone soup which was excellent. All of the cakes looked freshly made and tempting. We had coffee and pecan sponge and chocolate cake - both were fabulous. Very friendly service. Highly recommended. Well worth the drive through beautiful scenery.

My wife and I went along for one of our regular lunches yesterday. It says a lot that every time we go in it is full of locals as we all go back again and again. The food is always excellent and the beef shin and Guinness pie we had yesterday was up to the usual high standard. As was the chocolate cake, the scone and the baked cheescake. With a group of friends we are regular visitiors for Sunday lunch. We could not recommend it highly enough. We are very lucky to have somewhere as good as this locally. The only issue is the amount of weight we are putting on.

We were staying in Kinloch Rannoch for 3 nights (me, Himself, a friend and our two [rescue] Staffies) and had decided to visit Glen Lyon for a day out, visiting the Tea Room at some point for refreshments. In advance, I had messaged to check opening times and whether the place was dog friendly (it is, inside and outside!) and received a quick, friendly response which boded well. We arrived in time for a late lunch and two of us opted for toasted ham & cheese paninis which came with salad and crisps, and coffee. Our friend had hot chocolate and cake. We chose to sit inside and although it was past 'breakfast' time, the staff cooked sausages for our dogs, which they enjoyed enormously. The food was lovely, plenty of it, and filling. (In fact, the dog had the last little bits of mine as I was too full to finish it!) A superb cafe in a lovely location, ideal for tourists, whether car-borne like us, or walking or cycling. Definitely rcommended and if we are coming that way again, we will visit again! Oh, and I also bought a delicious home-made loaf of bread to take back with us. Thank you.

I'm sorry, but that last reviewer shouldn't be let out, has no idea what he is talking about. We have lifted in Killin for over a year and heard good things about the tea rooms, but never got around to going. Finally managed to get there with some friends today and thoroughly lived up to expectations. Previous review complained about the soup and panini he got for £9.95, for me it was a little too much. However, both soup and panini were delicious, in fact everything we had was delicious and also picked up a lovely fresh loaf of bread. Friendly staff and a great location 👍. Definitely worth a visit and I'm sure we'll be back.

On entry we were warmly welcomed and the host was very friendly and quickly made our hot drinks to take away. The lady was polite and made conversation with us whilst we had a quick look around her shop. We brought a coffee, a hot chocolate ans a piece of homemade tablet, all of which were very nice and reasonably priced. There are lovely views just outside and also lots of beautiful Red Squirrels which don't mind being photographed. We stopped at the tea room after a short walk in the woods near the tearoom. It's very well set up for COVID, one way system throughout the shop and masks are worn by both customer and staff. The food was amazing- we had the tomato soup, and the bacon and corn chowder- and we greatly enjoyed both! The food is hot and substantial, just what you need on a cold day. It's also great value for money, we paid £21 for 4 soups with focaccia and 4 juices. We sat outside and the view onto the river while we ate was breath-taking. The card reader doesn't seem to be working at the moment but the owner was well set up and allowed us to pay via bank transfer later on. Would highly recommend - genuinely great homecooked food and really good value for money!

The Bridge of Balgie tearoom had been recommended to us by friends. We were cycling to it from Glengoulandie Campsite in October, but we weren’t sure if it was going to be open or not. You wouldn’t believe the joy on our faces when we turned the corner & we saw it was open. It was a cold day, so their hot soup went down a treat, which was served with focaccia. We then followed that up with a hot chocolate, which warmed us up for our return journey. We spoke to the owner about their opening times & the best place to check this is on their Facebook page, as the tearoom’s opening times can sometimes get confused with those of the post office. We’ll definitely be back.

COVID secure, you choose at the post office counter and they bring it to you outside (luckily tables available and it was warm enough to sit out but you could takeaway and eat in the car!). Tea n soup served in those thick paper cups but still piping hot. We had 2 soups served with piece of homemade focaccia (lovely) 1 sausage roll (which is in fact 2 small ones) delicious, 1 big piece of shortbread (light as a feather) and a slice of nutty apple cake - never head of it but also fab and 2 teas = £19. Came across this little tearoom on a drive through Glen Lyon, it’s the only place for miles and from the outside, looks lovely. However... the staff, possibly the owners?, were incredibly rude, to the point it was actually quite uncomfortable to watch them speaking to others. So unfriendly and unwelcoming. Given the fact they had a constant stream of customers, who were all interacting with each other, you’d of thought the owners might at least make pleasant small talk. We didn’t even get a hello, goodbye or thank you, Food was average, but reasonably priced so can’t really complain. Although don’t expect a ‘potato salad’ with your sandwich as you’d know it. We got 2 baby potatoes with a squirt of mayo on top. Hot chocolate was just standard, but again, for the price, it is what it is. We hadn’t actually expected to find anywhere to stop so had minimal cash but were pleasantly surprised to find they had a card machine (which we later found out wasn’t working and were given bank details to do a bank transfer). Was a nice surprise to find somewhere to stop for food but given the unpleasant atmosphere provided by the staff, we wouldn’t return if we went back to Glen Lyon.

Glen Lyon is a beautiful place and part of that beauty is down to the fact it’s so peaceful and rural. The tearoom is the only place for miles around but it’s also very far from the mediocrity you too often get when in such a remote spot.Seating inside the quaint building is limited to about half a dozen tables (outside seating is more plentiful in the right weather) but you get a genuine warm welcome, excellent homebaking (the pistachio cake is a must if you have a sweet tooth), delicious soups and lovely hot drinks. No trip up the Glen us complete without a visit to the tearoom, but it’s worth a visit just for the tearoom itself.Remember to check opening times, especially in the winter months.

Très jolie café située à Bridge of Balgie : de jolies tables en bois avec une très belle vue sur la Lyon River. Nous avons pris du thé vert à la menthe et des scones accompagnés de confiture et crème : un délice ! Si vous passez par là, faites y une pause !

It's not everyone's idea of a place for a post wedding lunch but it was ours. The views alone are worth the drive but the food is also excellent as is the service. The menu changes frequently with fresh home made soups and cakes of a very high standard. Being the ONLY place in Glenlyon doesn't always imply it's good, but their standards are comparable to many others in the area and up there with the best.

We initially ordered two soups - tomato chilli and sweet potato and bell pepper. The tomato chilli was not as expected, very bland, insipid and tasteless. The sweet potato soup was ideal to feed a weaning child. The bread served with both was fantastic!

Shady tea at this tea room! We were a group of seven from different countries having a fantastic Glen Lyon day out but we made the mistake of turning up when the tea room was full. We weren't made to feel very welcome at all and it put a bit of a dampener on our day. When a table offered to let us squeeze in the owner came out and told us No, we would sit outside in the cold and eat lunch under a canopy. So I suggested we might wait inside but that didn't get an enthusiastic response either, neither did my idea of going for a drive and coming back... No worries, within half an hour you can drive over the top to Loch Tay and the Lawers Hotel where you get a great home-cooked lunch at a reasonable price with excellent soup and cakes and friendly service, and that's just what we ended up doing today!Bridge of Balgie is not worth the bother to be honest.

Arrived just before closing so the recommended scones had run out but settled on a delicious hearty tomato soup which was excellent. This place is very popular with those in the know!

A trip up or down Scotland’s loveliest glen is just totally enhanced by a stop here. Great soup, Guinness cake to die for and lovely people running it. And you’re putting money straight back to a real rural economy. Why not?

We parked at Innerwick and took the high path through the forest to Bridge of Balgie. Took a couple of hours with lots of stops to admire the views. Defended down to Bridge of Balgie reaching the road at the Glen Lyon Post Office. On offer was a choice of home made soups, sandwiches and cakes.

Looking for the way to Mary’s praying hands and we asked a post lady. She sent us to talk to Becky at the post office tea room. Beck was. Very helpful and soon had us on our way. OS map directions.

We had the pleasure of stopping for lunch at the Glen Lyon Tearooms on a very rainy day and we were not disappointed. A concise menu of sandwiches and soups accompanied by heavenly home made cakes. Throw in toys for the little ones to play with and the owner being only to happy to accomodate two rather noisy toddlers and it was just perfect. The location is stunning and the drive back towards Killin past the dam made for a very nice day out all round. Definitely worth the trip!

Stopped off at the outside seating for lunch. The ham and cheese ultimate toastie with the chilli jam was excellent served with crisps and side salad. Egg mayonnaise sandwich was equally good. Good sized cappuccino coffees.

Lovely location, good service and great food. We had bacon rolls, an egg roll, followed by scones & cakes, all were excellent. Will definitely be back on our next visit to the area.

We needed to buy some last-minute desserts for vegan visitors. The shop had closed but the owner saw us and opened up the shop for us. We told him what we needed and he took us through everything that could fit, not rushing us in the slightest. The shop had a great range of vegan desserts and we managed to get exactly what we wanted. Very friendly and personal customer service. We will definitely be back.
