This is a really nice family run pub which serves the best food on the Antrim coast. We’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints Their chicken stack is by far the best I’ve had - and I’ve had a few! The warm chicken and bacon salad is also delicious. All still very good value!

Staying in the area for a few nights, dropped in to this lovely bar / restaurant for some drinks and food. Very nice atmosphere and excellent staff, Guinness was lovely and the food exceptional. We had squid to start and monkfish for our main. Generous portions and very tasty. Will definitely return and recommend highly.

Fell upon this place by accident today and we are really happy we did. The bar/lounge is currently getting redecorated and they’re doing an excellent job of it. Think the new branding is called “The Loft” All the Staff were very friendly and attentive. We were made to feel very welcome Food was 10/10 good size portions and all very tasty, the nicest meal we have had in a while. I expect this will be very busy in the summer months so glad we were able to visit. Definitely recommend

Fantastic find on the way to the causeway. We stopped for some lunch and randomly picked this place as the reviews were good and it did not disappoint. Service, atmosphere and food were all excellent. We had a selection of light bites and mains. I had the soup and I have to say it was possibly the best mushroom soup I have ever had. Would definitely visit again.

Great craic in the bar and lounge, however the food was a bit disappointing. Fish itself was wet and flabby though the battery was crispy and nice but those chips...as white as they were when they were peeled! All 3 of our party who had chosen the fish commented that they wished they'd ordered my chicken stack, which was very nice!

Went in for a couple of drinks here due to us staying locally. The stove in the bar was lovely and the bar itself was immaculately clean. One of the big judgements for me is how clean the toilets are and the Glencloy clearly has a high standard. Didn't serve food during the week but a great place for a drink

The staff and owner of the Glencloy could not have been more helpful and welcoming. If you’re gonna eat here make sure you can eat, for the portions are massive. Really good quality food served quickly and piping hot. So full of flavour and a cracking pint of Guinness too. Nice to see so many younger staff members so well tuned into their job. Really on the ball and a credit to the inn and to themselves. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! 100%

It was the birthday (a big one!) of one of the crew on our yacht at nearby Glenarm marina, where we berthed on our way from Plymouth to Argyll. One of our number has limited mobility, and Glencloy Inn was about 3 miles away on a wet night. Trying to find a taxi in such a remote spot was proving very difficult, but Paddy sorted this out for us. Great food, excellent service and a hugely welcoming hostelry. If this is Irish hospitality, I’ll definitely be back! Excellent value too.

Lunch was lovely! Only negative was the service, lots of young staff who gathered at the bar chatting. Had a young baby, had to go find a staff member to ask for a high chair and later after waiting for 15 mins when you have children felt like an hour to ask to see the desert menu. The restaurant opened at 1…just before 3, 2 of the 4 waiting staff sat down for lunch, while we and another table were trying to get some service. The restaurant had only just opened that day after having to close for a covid deep clean. There was a sign in book…we were never asked to sign, only noticed one other table signing in. Also saw a couple walk in seated themselves, decided they wanted to change table and did so without any staff advising due to covid seats are allocated. The table they left wasn’t wiped down. Nothing was said. Overall atmosphere was good, chilled out and food was lovely. Perhaps a more senior or experienced member on waiting staff to over see things would help everyone, I know perhaps easier said than done in these difficult times.

Probably the only less-than-three-star review I’m leaving any place we visited during our 12 days in Ireland. We stayed at the Londonderry Arms hotel down the street. Wandered over here for a drink and change of scenery. Lots of locals drinking at the bar — which is what we love to see! However this particular group was not pleasant and many seemed really drunk. Two young adults working behind the bar seemed stressed out and not terribly happy. I felt really bad for them. I can’t really put my finger on what was so “off” about this place but it is literally the only pub I had a bad experience at in all of Ireland.

Carnlough was absolutely packed, as we expected. We popped into the Glencloy Inn for a late lunch. The place was busy, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The barman offered us a table outside or upstairs in the restaurant, but quickly offered the room next door when he saw my mother with her walking aid. He guided us through to a suitable table, took a drinks order, and left us to browse the menu. He returned with drinks and to take our food order. Food preparation took 15 - 20 minutes, which was absolutely fine and a good indicator that we weren't getting microwave mush. I had a very generously sized gammon steak, well cooked and presented. My wife had the pan fried hake, and my mum had soup - all very good. During the meal our waiter, two other bar staff, and the manager checked unobtrusively that everything was good. The place was fresh and clean with pleasant decor, and the side room was a bit quieter than the main bar area.

We booked a table for 13 to eat at The Loft on Sunday 27th January. The starters were very slow to come out with half the party finished eating by the time the other half got their food, the starters were ok but the wheaten bread that came with the prawn cocktail was like a rock it had obviously been frozen and defrosted. I ordered the 10oz sizzling rib eye which came with onions, mushrooms, bacon and garlic butter but I had asked that it come medium with no onions, the waitress told me this would be fine. When my steak arrived it was covered in onions, I told the waitress I had ordered it without and so she took it back to the kitchen. She then came out to tell me that the steak could not be served without onions as the onion, bacon, mushroom and garlic butter sauce mix was already made up together and so she asked me would I like pepper sauce instead, I said yes that would be fine. After another few minutes the waitress came back to tell me that the pepper sauce has onions in it and did I still want it, I said I couldn’t eat onions and so I would just take the rib eye steak on its own cooked medium. The rest of my party was almost finished their meal by the time my steak came out, which arrived very well done. I then waited another ten minutes for my side to be served. A number of us had ordered steaks to be cooked blue, rare and medium but every steak was served the same, very well done. I didn’t even touch the steak and ate the chips only. When the waitress started to clear the table she asked how our meal was and when we said it was terrible she said nothing and continued clearing the table.

Went into the Glencloy inn on a Friday afternoon with my sister and 4 children. Before entering the owner passed us outside and looked us up and down. Anyway ordered drinks and some snacks for the children, nachos and chips. The nachos were a generous portion but the chips were all burnt ends. The children played a game of pool and the whole time the owner stood at the bar scowling at them. When I went to get a drink he said look after the kids, I asked if they were doing anything wrong (which they weren't as I had been watching the whole time). He just replied that he had spent money on doing the place up. Made to feel unwelcome and after a game of pool we drank up and left. I must say though the rest of the staff were lovely, the owner really needs to lighten up a bit and try to make families more welcoming.

Three times I have visited the Glencloy Inn the food is to die for the staff are amazing but three times I have witnessed the owner of that bar humiliating someone, it seems he thinks he has the right to inform you in the most ignorant of manners exactly what he is thinking, he rushes up and down the bar stressed out to the maximum like a police man pounding the beat he makes you feel uneasy he shows his displeasure verbally and with loud tuts and shakes of his head and mutterings under his breath, I witnessed him cross examining a family of three on why they were eating and their son was not then tut and walk off ...he embarrassed an older couple because they came in from the street to watch the golf and when they asked directions to the location of the tv from a member of staff he shouted all over the bar that he had already gave them directions shouting loudly EXCUSE ME EXCUSE ME I TOLD YOU WERE TO GO...omg why do people frequent this establishment...then the next minute he is touring the room asking is everything alright do you need anything else? Yes we do...we need you to remove your self and appointment a manager who appreciates custom who is not constantly irritable in a rage and anxious. We ate dinner here one evening and enjoyed the experience. The food was fairly uncomplicated and wholesome but nicely cooked and very well priced. We had a combo platter (mostly deep-fried), chicken stack and cajun chicken creole. The food was fine and the meal overall was less than £35 including drinks soi we definitely couldn't complain. A more adventurous menu with maybe more fish variations would have been nice but it did the job for us. Service was fine although there did seem to be one lady doing almost all of the work. Definitely a place to return to and far better than the only other real option in town for a sit-down dinner.

Decided to have Sunday Lunch here and as it was very busy we were given a table downstairs in the main bar not the most comfortable place to eat but I was too hungry to start looking for somewhere else. There was only roast pork on the menu so thats what we had however most of it remained on the plate. The pork was overcooked, the mashed potato was cold and tasted as if cornflour had been added to it,the vegetables were tasteless.I have eaten in the Glencloy three or four times and can recommend it for an evening meal but Sunday lunch seems to be hit and miss.

Although we staying in Londonderry arms, first night decided to explore village... 2 hotels plus this pub, a spar, a mace and a Chinese.... Both Lounge and bar quite small. Young locals go... Pool table in the lounge... But... The prosecco was "brut" (minging) and the red wine mini bottles also not nice. Depends what you're used to drinking. We only stayed for one round then stuck to the Londonderry arms pub next 2 nights.

Enjoyed our evening in the bar on our stop in the causeway coastal route. We had some beers and ate a burger and steak sandwich while playing a cards game. Very friendly staff, too bad that most desserts were out. Chocolate cake was very good though!

2nd time we have visited the Glencloy inn and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the young girls serving our meals were so nice and welcoming. The gammon, fish and the nachos were truly appetising and would whole recommend it.

This restaurant is just across from the harbour on a surprisingly busy road in the village. It is not the poshest but there is a warm welcome. Staff are attentive. Meals were served promptly and were delicious. Portions are generous. Certainly can recommend it for a meal. There is also pub grub, but we didn't have a look what was on offer there. The restaurant toilets are in need if some tlc, but they are clean.

Had a lovely dinner here on Sunday past. I was impressed with the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and one of the nicest pints of Guinness I've had in a long time. I hope to be back soon.

We had not booked but got a table for two at lunch time on St. Valentine's Day. We had the delicious Glencloy Stack, a speciality of the restaurant, consisting of char-grilled chicken fillet and bacon with mushrooms and tobacco onions on a bed of champ (mashed potato with spring onions) complemented by pepper sauce. It was well worth the visit. We requested a jug of water and this was presented as a clip-top litre bottle with two lounge glasses containing ice and a slice of lemon (at no charge!). We will definitely call here again.

Freshly cooked food, delicious and hearty. The Glencloy Stack is a winner for dinner! It's well priced, in fact it's great value.

Lovely wee spot in Carnlough. Food was beautiful I had scampi and sweet chilli chips and it was really good. My sons ate off of the children's menu, it was proper food with a very generous portion size. The waitress was a lovely wee girl very attentive and pleasant will definitely be back.

Arrived in Carnlough on Friday 1st January to spend the weekend with a French friend. Visited Glencloy Inn on Friday evening. Place was packed and live music. Had a pleasant couple of hours. Returned on Saturday evening at 8.00pm. Enquired what time they finished serving meals We were told it was 8.30pm which we accepted and explained we didn't plan to eat until around 9.00 pm as we had late lunch. Place was almost empty. Around 9.30 the landlord asked us to leave with no explanation given. Service from the young people behind the bar was fine but the landlord was rude and ignorant. When asked a second time for an explanation he refused to give one and insisted we leave. Left a very sour taste for the whole weekend and reflects badly on Carnlough generally. Wont be returning and certainly wont spend any more money in his pub. Disappointed !!

My partner and myself visited this pub on a friday afternoon, and has such a good feeling about it, great music and we had such a lovely time enjoying the music and singer we decided to go back the Saturday night .. which was a total contrast... Me and my partner were enjoying a few drinks, there was only another couple of people there, when after a few hours , a man who I guess was the landowner , ask my Partner who was having a smoke outside if we could leave the premises being before 10pm!! he was asked where he was from ???? I am french ??? did the accent made a difference in that whole experience ?? My partner is from Belfast and I am French ??? ! I have to say , we have a few drinks and as I love dancing , I put some music in the juke box and danced a little bit , which I don't think there is nothing bad about it.... I really would love to know what was the reason behing it all.. I have been living here for the last 25 years and was never told to leave a pub as yet . I would like to hear the views of that man and the reason behing it all??? Anyway I just have to say , the staff in this pub were all lovely just this man , made the whole experience being a dreadful experience and some early comment from somebody else mentioned a very unprofessional man , which they presumed was the landowner and was very so unfriendly to the.. Racism ? Other??? I really would love to hear from you Mr the Landowner and your reasons ???? Can i say my review relate to the pub and not the restaurant !

Great food and very friendly, professional staff. The place was packed with people which speaks for itself. We were shown to a table immediately and our order was taken promptly. Varied menu with something for everyone at reasonable prices. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it. Will definitely be back again.

The Rinka is my childhood ice cream shop. It has really unique flavours like toffee apple during autum. The prices seem to be fixed as they haven’t been changed in years. The Rinka has plenty of affordable sweets and my favourite toys I had as a kid. All I have else to say is that everytime I go there I am hit with nastalga, yet it is still up to date.

We recently visited Taste Coffee and Restaurant in Larne, and it was such a fantastic experience that we completely forgot to take pictures! Thankfully, I found some on their Facebook page, but they hardly do justice to how great this place is. The food was incredible, with so many delicious options to choose from. Everything we tried was bursting with flavor, and the chips and shakes were an absolute must-try! The service was super fast, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. A special shoutout to Joanne, who was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. If you’re in Larne and looking for the best cafe in town, Taste is a must-visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and can’t wait to come back!

Carriages Bistro, Larne 4th August 2024 There are a number of conflicting reviews about this place. When we ate there, the previously-mentioned problems were very much in evidence. The service was lackadaisical, with waitresses too busy exchanging local gossip to pay attention to guests. At the end of our meal, I had to stand up and find a waitress in order to pay my bill. (We’d finished our meal 10 minutes earlier). The food: I had Scampi and “creamed potato”. Creamed potatoes were mentioned before in this review site. Mine were barely warm, and lumpy. I have known how to make creamed potatoes since I was 10 years old. It’s hard to believe that anyone on the island of Ireland does not know how to prepare this simple potato dish. I asked for carrots and peas as my vegetables. The carrots were at room temperature. The peas were tinned processed peas – almost unheard of in this day and age. They reminded me of school lunches in the ‘60s. I must say, however, that my scampi was delicious. I’ve seen some good and bad reviews of this place – an equal balance between hit and miss. Our night was a miss. Maybe a manager or a team leader was missing, or (and) maybe a head chef was missing. Poor service; poor food standard.
