The breakfast was very tasty and the poached eggs cooked to perfection The child’s pancakes were lovely

I'd been to Giraffe before about 6 months ago and thought it was alright for a quick bite, so my daughter and I popped in today (Mother's Day) for a late lunch at around 14:20. We were seated promptly, and that's about where the quality of service ended. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and their cocktails are not good - really bland and watery. Our food order was taken when the drinks arrived, and we then waited 40 minutes for our starter to arrive. The starters were very simple, and can't have actually taken more than a few minutes to prepare - one was just warm houmous and a bit of bread!!! Once the starters were cleared away, we ended up waiting another 35 minutes for our mains. Mine was a simple, undressed, cold salad, and I have NO idea why it took so long. It was Duck salad - and the duck was so overdone and chewy that I gave up after a piece got stuck in my teeth leaving me with toothache until I could floss! My daughter had the Chicken Katsu noodles and there were more onions than noodles in the bowl. It was just rubbish. The waitress could see that we were annoyed with how long everything was taking, and offered us a round of drinks to make up for the all the waiting. It was a nice gesture but I'm just annoyed that I spent 50 quid on a really poor experience with only-just-average food. The menu has changed for the worse and it's all over the place - mexican, japanese, burgers & steak... it's like they are trying to compete with all the other restaurants in the outlet - by offering a bit of everything, but doing it all badly. We saw the table next to us wait 30 minutes for them to bring out 2 scoops of ice cream for her kid. We decided to get the bill whilst we were still eating. We were there 1h 50 mins altogether for a spot of lunch, one of which didn't even need cooking!

The value for money was good too although I did get caught out because there was an 8% service charge I did not see so I effectively tipped twice. I should also say that this was a Sunday morning when few people were about and I get the feeling that it might be a different matter on a Saturday lunchtime when there are more shoppers with families about.

Very friendly, attentive and sorted out problems fully. The food was OK but not good value for money. We had a full breakfast for me and salmon and scrambled eggs for my wife, with apple juice and coffees. The food was reasonable, service was good and friendly. The cost was £25 plus an 8% gratuity added to the bill by Giraffe (which my wife who paid did not spot) and added some more. Overall we felt it was reasonable in terms of quality, service and ambience, but a little pricey for the quality, I think we have had better breakfasts for about the same price, although possibly not at a supermarket!

Visited Saturday lunchtime. It was full but there were not sufficient staff on duty. Waited quite a long time with other people arriving after us, who then got served before us. finally, after complaining our order was taken. When the meal was brought to us, the steak (about the most expensive item on the menu) was cold. This was taken away. but by the time a new steak was served the other members of my family had eaten their meal. Meals were not being served on heated plates which might expalin the sraek going cold. To be fair to the manager, he gave us the first round of drinks on the house for the delay in being served and deducted the cost of the steak from the bill; however, it was still a very disappointing experience. We chose Girrafe because we had been blown over by our experience at the Giraffe at Victoria in London; the staff from the Tesco Extra Giraffe should visit the Giraffe in Victoria to see how it should be done.

Four of us arrived at the Giraffe restaurant in the Swindon Designer Outlet for lunch on December 31st.The restaurant was half full (at best) and we were told by the waitress at the door that they were taking reservations. When I asked why we could not go straight to a table, I was told that they were not filling the tables because they did not want to "overwhelm" the kitchen.I find this completely unacceptable and I wonder why the Giraffe organisation either took on such a large location when they are clearly unable to cater for the number of customers that they have the potential to accommodate - or why they do not have enough catering staff on duty.I noticed on the sheet for bookings that people had arrived at 12 noon and even they were waiting.Whatever the excuse, I find this very disappointing and does not encourage me to return nor does it encourage me to recommend the restaurant to anybody else. Please note that this is for the restaurant in the Swindon Designer Outlet and not the restaurant at Ocotal Way. The restaurant that we visited is so new that it was not on the list of available locations to select.

Have often wondered what Giraffe was like to dine in, well now I know and won't be going back again....................We decided on a quick bite to eat whilst shopping at the outlet village. We were quick to be seated but then went downhill from there. There was quite a lot to choose from on the menu and as a vegetarian there were few choices. We ordered drinks but felt we were rushed in making our menu choice. My daughter opted for the rodeo burger and I chose the deluxe fafael veggie burger. Our food took ages to arrive and when it did mine was cold, hadn't even been cooked.........how could that have even left the kitchen unchecked??? So by the time my food came for the second time my daughter had finished hers, so much for eating together......I had to ask for napkins which came when asked but didn't even get cutlery, this is a basic requirement and this restaurant just could not deliver good food or good service. To add insult to injury I have just checked my receipt after reading other comments and I was charged the 10% service charge...............absolutely disgusting. My advice to you is to walk on by and eat somewhere else, anywhere is better than this place.

We ended up at Giraffe in the Outlet Village because of poor service at Ed's Diner. The restaurant was nicely decorated, had a relaxing feel and the staff were very friendly. Apart from the lovely young lady who was serving us, 3 other staff took the time to talk to us while we were there. I was hoping the food quality wouldn't let the vibe down and it didn't. We all had the most amazing food (well, as amazing as burgers can get) and was made to feel welcome at all times. It was a bit more expensive than we were anticipating (they add 10% tip to the bill so no need to add after) but, all things considered, £50 for 2 meals, drinks and desserts plus a childrens meal (and tip) isn't all that bad. We will definitely be going back next time we treat ourselves. Thank you Giraffe, you guys rock!

I've been to Giraffe before, and have loved their family-friendly fun orientated atmosphere, this had been at one of their stand-alone restaurants (in Bristol) and I was intrigued to see how this would work when attached to a Tesco supermarket. My fears where that Giraffe would have been incorporated into the giant corporation's way of doing business, sorry Tesco, but you (especially your previous in store cafes) are not renowned for your family-friendly, warm, relaxing environment. My fears however, were miss placed as upon arrival I found that this restaurant might as well not be a part of Tesco, it stands by itself, sharing little but bricks and mortar, the staff were the same as I'd experienced in the last Giraffe I visited: friendly, eager to please, and most importantly, you get the feeling they want to be there, they enjoyed working there, and therefore, I was going to enjoy my experience there. The service from the moment we walked in was fantastic, each of us greeted with a genuine smile and once we were at our table, I found the menu to still contain a great selection of starters, meals, deserts, and some rather moreish cocktails! I chose a burger as my main, I must admit, I do like a good burger, and can be rather fussy, again I didn't needn't have been concerned. The food was brought out promptly and was wonderful, our server returned not long after bringing us our meals to check everything was alright... no complaints from us! I feel the atmosphere within this restaurant deserves special mention, it's a brilliantly designed, again focusing on being family-friendly but also providing booths tucked away for those looking for a more intimate dining experience. The staff engage with all their guests, and we had a good chuckle watching them entertain the children present, allowing their parents a moment of (i assume highly appreciated) peace to eat their food. All in all, a great experience, I will be certainly be returning. And for those of you who brave the supermarket next door, I recommend visiting the restaurant afterward to wind down after the bright lights, aisles and aisles of produce, trolley induced road rage and self service checkouts!

When I saw that Giraffe were opening 1. in Swindon & 2. close to my place of work, I was very pleased. I have previously found them to be a good, reliable chain for family meals. Their food would also find favour with International visitors to our company. With all this in mind, it was the obvious destination for family occasion. Monday nights are never busy, so we weren't surprised that the place was only 20% occupied. We ordered promptly and waited. And waited. Nobody checked on us, and eventually the mains arrived, in dribs and drabs. Our young daughter had the longest wait - kid's meal pasta & tomato sauce, for pete's sake. None of the traditional Giraffe kid-friendly stuff e.g. crayons was offered to hold her interest.Presentation of food was OK, with the exception of a iffy dressed salad (oil left in hot kitchen area for too long?).Desserts ordered. The waiting starts again, along with one of the waiter's shift ending. More waiting. Family just plain bored by now. Half of family get to watch the other half eat their desserts, with their's arriving afterwards. The bill carried an 8% gratuity. Paid but in no way earned. My conclusion was that Tesco have bought a brand, but not the culture and atmosphere of Giraffe. Maybe it will get better (opened 1.5 months ago)? Maybe they were short-staffed that night? Right now, this is an overpriced imitation.

Being a vegetarian for 29 years, I ordered a mushroom halloumi burger and my daughter ordered a chicken burger. The idiotic server brought the order unlabelled and in the wrong order, leading to me eating three bites of CHICKEN before realising it wasn’t grilled halloumi. I am absolutely disgusted and furious and I will never EVER return. I will be making sure my family and friends won’t be coming either. Appalling service in every way.

Not a great experience to be honest. Had to wait 5-10 minutes before anyone noticed we were there and needed seating. Once seated it took another 10 minutes before we received a drinks order. Food came out in reasonable time but mine and my partners steaks were over cooked. Asked for them mid rare and both come more mid well. My partners bearnaise sauce has split so looked like an oil slick and my peppercorn was completely bland. Frozen prawn that was on top of my partners steak tasted just that, frozen and my ribeye was impossibly tough. Usually we would have tried to rectify the problems then and there but no one came to see how the food was so we ate what we could and left. Really disappointed as we love a good steak but guess that’s another one off the list in Swindon. No where left to eat in this town.

Went through the drive thru. Ordered a 10 piece bucket. When we arrived home, the fries were soggy, and overcooked. The chicken was also overcooked, and very dark brown. Apart from that, I always thought that chickens have two breasts and two legs. So why did I get 8 drumsticks, and 2 tiny pieces of breast meat. I know …..cheap. No pun intended. This is the worst and most disgusting KFC I have ever had. I will certainly not return, and would suggest that people give it a wide swerve. Disgusting.
