Ginger And Spice in South Gloucestershire

Used to be really nice but last night 31/01 Was the worst chinese I have ever had. Wrong food delivered and everything was over cooked. The delivery driver even said sorry for the wait the chef is holding everything up. We won't use again.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The prawn toast was unbelievably hard – I genuinely thought I might break a tooth trying to bite into it. The chicken was awful; it tasted like it had been boiled and lacked any flavor or texture you’d expect from a good Chinese dish. As for the curry, it was just plain disgusting – I couldn't even finish it. Overall, a very poor meal, and I won’t be coming back. Definitely not worth the money.

As always amazing food delivered by Ginger & Spice. I have never had a bad takeaway from here and I have used this takeaway for 20 years plus

Wouldn’t recommend. The quality was quite poor. None of us ate very much as it was not enjoyable at all.

I was told the food had been delivered it was delivered to someone else,then when I rang the place they wouldn't answer the phone so when the delivery driver said I could have a refund later on it was dumped outside the door stone cold!

Never arrived! After having said order was going to take over an hour and charging £4 delivery too! Didn't respond to Where's my Order text. Phone call to restaurant went unanswered. RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE. I certainly won't again and I was a 1st time customer.

Sorry guys, you were really lovely & friendly but not sure I've ever had worse than this 😥 chicken chowmein was so salty & over cooked I couldn't eat much of it.... I think the prawn toast was made yesterday, it was hard and dry, did my best but it was completely inedible...too fed up to try the spring roll 😞

The teenager lad serving at the counter was friendly and polite. Even after the 5-10 minute journey home, and dishing up, the food was still hot. I only ordered crispy chilli beef and and egg fried rice for my first try but it was delicious 😋 I will be back to try other dishes.

Tasty dishes Great value for money. Shop is clean and tidy, no old paint chipping away and bugs running around. Best Asian takeaway around

I have ordered from you 3 times the first order was lovely my husband and myself couldn’t complement your food enough the special curry was delicious and the rice was superb second time ordering we felt the curry was very sweet and not at all as nice as the previous order but it was ok so we didn’t say anything.. Tonight ordering special curry it was quite nice but we ordered some prawn toast it was disgusting inedible made from homemade bread chunks from stale bread no prawn filling on the top just sesame seeds very disappointing it wasn’t worth a pound let alone the several pounds spent on it!! There’s no prawn crackers in your shop so we ordered the prawn toast to soak up the curry which we couldn’t eat I’m sorry to say this but the meal was horrible and I won’t be ordering from here again

Food was lovely, very flavoursome and hot. Chips were V poor, tasted re-cooked from earlier or yesterday, inedible so binned them!!

I made a mistake with the hotel address but between the driver shop and myself the food was delivered to the right hotel still really hot. The quality of the food was excellent, perhaps the crispy beef could have been crispyer but it was still ok. The complimentary chicken curry was superb. Super soft chicken in a tasty sauce. The portions were very generous so perhaps next time we would not order quite as much. Very pleasant delivery guy and super polite person I spoke to at the shop explaining

I’ve lived near this takeaway for years and have enjoyed it on countless occasions; a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. I’ve always found the taste to be exciting and flavourful and always cooked well. They do a great job of bringing so many Chinese dishes to people at a good price. Personally I find they get the basics absolutely spot on: rice, chow mein, sauces and the like. Highlight is definitely the Thai Fried Rice.

Couldn't eat the Chow mein as been sprouts smelled off. Complained to restaurant who apologised and replaced. Second time around the chow mein was better

I've been going here A LOT for years. It was my local since 2008. I've been away from Bristol for a year and couldn't wait to go back: it was awful. It was always expensive but worth it. Tonight it was bad for a cheap one but it was terrible and many dishes were £9. The prawns, bar one, were hard bullets and 'suspicious' tasting. The chow mein had no beansprouts. Battered prawns were tiny, hard, and swimming in grease. Noodles were so al dente they ended up al fresco. I cant believe how bad it was. My Mrs has never seen me throw a Chinese takeaway in the bin. I did tonight. I'd have just not have gone back if it was regular price, but I've written this review because it was bad and expensive too.

Excellent food and never disappoints

I don't like leaving negative reviews but the food we had from here on Sunday evening was very very poor. The Chicken Balls, Special Chow Mein, Spring Roll, Chips and Curry Sauce were completely inedible. The Satay Chicken, Egg Fried Rice and Sweet & Sour Sauce were good. £52 is a lot of money to just throw away the food. Definitely our last visit here 😞

This has been my go to Chinese for years. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food itself is amazing, very flavourful and by far the best curry sauce I've had compared to any others in the surrounding area

I bought a Special Chow Mein only about an hour ago. A very less than average meal , not impressed , definately not going in there. again. No thanks. Disappointed. The reviews below are correct.

Overpriced and worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten ! Wrong rice dish was send and full of prawns and I’m allergic to shellfish !!! No point complaining as it took ages to come

Friendly service but the food itself was really not nice. Chow mein seemed burnt, really dark, dry meat, we couldn't eat it as it didnt taste nice and wasnt nice to look at either. The spring rolls and chicken balls were also pretty dry, didnt seem very "fresh".

Came here tonight after about 3-4 months and OMG this is not the same place. Must be a new owner or chief. Had chicken chow main which was incredibly sweet, very dark brown laced with soya sauce. chilly shredded chicken incredibly sweet. Curry sauce was tasteless and hot, chow main noodles soft/mushy. What I feel conned! Rang to voice my opinion and was told “ nothing we can do” really? Never ever will I be back in there again!!! 😡 Anyone thinking of going there with this level of food don’t bother!

Used to order all the time but recently the food hasn’t been great. The chow mein sweet and too much soyo sauce. Over cooked chicken, with burnt veg. It used to be a great meal but sadly, last few months not the best :(

Perfect first experience of ordering from Just Eat

Old and rubbish. You know how all the ingredients in a dish of food all adopt the same colour when they have been left sitting together for a long time, and how everything tastes the same. That's what I got. Old, stale food that was stuff they couldn't get rid of in the shop. Won't waste my money again. I even brought two dishes so I had one for work the following day. It went in the bin. I was ashamed to let anyone see it. Wayne

1 out of 3 dishes was wrong, chow menus tasted odd, not very nice and they were 40 mins late. Although the app won’t let me choose anything more than 5 mins

The rice was a bit dry and the meat tough, but the pat Thai was amazing! Just like I was in Thailand! Crispy beef very tasty.

Order was wrong. Close, but wrong. Ordered a veg dish, got the special with all types of meat in it. Dishes that weren't marked as spicy on menu, had 'buildable' spice in them.

very disappointed with the chilli salted chicken,no taste what so ever.

Ordered early evening so was probably from dinner times , some was warm some was hot, but chips we’re definitely from lunch time, it’s not the same quality as it used to be.

Mediocre at best. I don't know who supplies your chicken, but you need to change them. I revently had sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. Just terrible and didn't taste of chicken.

Totally avoid at all costs we had family staying over we were fighting over the toilet all night needs to be inpected by environmental health!!!

No prawn crackers in the order!

I’m a vegetarian and unfortunately found meat in my meal. They should stipulate on their website if there is a risk of cross contamination. Awful. The phone call to the takeaway to report the above was also incredibly bizarre, I was quizzed and asked to bring back a dish so they could assess it. Being late on a Sunday evening, I refused. They offered a refund for the dish in question but the whole meal went in the bin. Come on?? Do better.

If you're suffering from salt deficiency this is the place for you. One visit and you'll be back over normal level.

Great food, but they always insist on cash payment. Seems very strange in this day and age when cards are accepted "almost' everywhere. Difficult to order online, system always seem to be 'down'. Have yet to get home delivery as advertised.

Always use this shop for Chinese. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is always hot & portions are generous. Would totally recommend. Just wanted to add, this restaurant has a delivery service which is excellent, always delivers on time & food is always hot.

they hired me last week trained me for 2 days to tell me 5 mins before my shift thst i’m not suitable for the job, baring in mind training was unpaid. i sacrificed my school nights to do silly work for them stupid. absolutely muggy !!

Vile food freezing cold and raw chicken !!! I have it all in the bag ready and your prawn crackers are vile taste like gone off oil !! I'm going to report to health and safety !!!! Wish I read all this before eating it !!! Even the parrot and dogs turned their noses up at it,! Should be shut down !

This takeaway is astonishingly awful. The food and the way the establishment is run honestly keeps me up at night. First of all, I know the staff get paid extremely poorly if they even get paid at all. The shop isn’t hygienic and needs an inspection. The curry sauce is lumpy and full of oil don’t even get me started on the sweet and sour sauce. The egg fried rice tastes stale and I can tell that it was left overs from the night before. The staff are incredibly rude especially over the phone and the manager who lives upstairs is god awful. I have never written a review for anything before but this place has made me feel as if I need to warn people before they waste their money.

Unfortunately my order was missing the 2 lots of chips which was quite disappointing as it meant I had to go to the local chip shop and spend more money to get some.

Ordered food on uber eats order never arrived but money has been deducted.i was waiting for 2 hours and cant resilve it on app as it still show order on its way.i live 3minutes away from store.

Rubbery prawn crackers, frankenstien chicken, like warm food and all delivered late - do not use.

Delivery was double time quoted on just eat - 2nd time we've tried to use this place - don't bother. Food when arrived wasn't worth the wait either, rubbery old prawn crackers, some kind of fatty frankenstien chicken and luke warm. Never again.
