The experience starts by walking into the building, it is beautiful. Inside, the decor is elegant & classy! The staff were welcoming, friendly and were more than happy to answer any questions. We were helped by Oswin & Corey; they were very willing to assist us in choosing from the menu, and both were very knowledgeable about all the dishes listed. We tried a wide range of dishes, all of which were amazing! Sushi, tempura, baked rice - the list goes on! The flavours were fabulous and everything was beautifully fresh, and it goes without saying it all tasted divine. We also had a selection of pickles, I now have a new favourite pickle - pickled radish! We were also lucky enough to meet the chefs preparing these dishes - they are artists! the food is beautifully presented. We ended the meal with the signature Gin & Sake cocktail, which went down very well and finally finished with the plum sake. If you like sushi - or even if you have never tried it before, visit this restaurant - the staff will guide you through the menu and you won't be disappointed!

What a lovely looking building to start with, huge oak doors and subtle lighting. Decor was very fresh and had some beautiful paintings. We had advice from the waiters as some of us were unsure with some of the dishes. Both Osthwin and Cody were knew their sushi. We had an array of dishes and none of them disappointed. The Sashimi Platter was superb and we watched chef make it, so delicate. Oshinko Pickles very different. The Maki Maki Tempura was excellent. There was also a Baked Rice dish that resembled a tiny little loaf and was extremely tasty! Give it a whirl you are sure to find something to tantalise your taste buds! Staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. We all had thoroughly good evening with the signature cocktail and the Plum Saki to finish. Thanks to all at Gin and Saki

The setting is classy however that is the best thing about this place. Basically it is far far too expensive for the quality of the food. The octopus was bland as was the chorizo starters. The mains again were distinctly average. The chicken with mushroom sauce was not value for money. The deserts again immediately unforgettable . This place is not good enough to survive!!!

The best Japanese food I have ever tasted. Service was excellent with recommendations provided by our waiter. I would 100% recommend this place. Lovely relaxed vibes, cocktails tasted equally as good as the food. We will definitely be returning again soon.

We visited Gin and Sake for my husband’s birthday this evening and had a really great experience. We ordered the chicken gyoza and chicken karaage starters, the salmon sharing platter, chicken teriyaki and a yuzu cheesecake. Each dish was very tasty and well presented. The food definitely lived up to the great reviews we had read. We were served by Oswin who was very professional and attentive. It was the best customer service we have had in a restaurant in a long time. Keep up the great work Oswin!

Went to the restaurant for lunch, initial first impressions were good , nice decor. Sushi was decent enough, but lacking any real flavour and seasoning. We ordered the "grilled" sea bass however received 2 frozen fillets that had been floured and shallow fried. Also the seafood udon noodles, came as small yaki style noodles, with over cooked bits of seafood which had clearly come from the frozen mixed seafood packs you find in the supermarket. Not really acceptable for almost 20 pound for the dish. We were the only table in the restaurant but some how the waitress still didn't come over to check so we were unable to tell her we had received the wrong dish and that we weren't really happy with our food. We explained this when we eventually had to go to the bar and pay but she didn't really seem to be that bothered.

Gin & Sake Restaurant in Bridgend is one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. Tasty asian foods that are reasonably priced. Thanks to the 2 amazing chefs, on duty- head chef Noy and chef Moises. We definitely enjoyed every single food we ordered. Great staff and ambiance. We will surely be back!

Wow! This restaurant really ticks all the boxes for food and service. We were there on a Saturday evening but the service was attentive, friendly and well timed. We all opted for the £45 pp special as it gave a chance to try a few different parts of the menu. The portions were HUGE and we all struggled to finish. It felt like incredible value, offering a large starter, a lot of sushi, a main, edamame, a dessert AND a cocktail. We tried a few different cocktails and the hot sake so our bill was big, but it felt worth it. We left a large tip to reflect just how impressed we were. It was lovely to see yet another fab restaurant in Bridgend. This is easily the most impressive IMO.

Popped in for a couple of drinks as we were passing, had the delicious gin and sake cocktail. Whilst there we noticed the food looked really good so had a look at the menu, couldn’t help but order a couple of nigiri (salmon and scallop) both were delicious. The atmosphere and decoration is also nice in there. We are coming back for a meal

We visited here to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had heard good reviews . The decor and ambience was good and we settled down to a drink after being instructed to arrive 15 minutes before our booking. Wine was reasonable, and a decent selection, non alcohol lager £5 330mil can !!!! And cider £4 half left a bitter taste. Whilst initially we were waiting for one guest to arrive After 45 mins of all of us patiently waiting we summoned a waitress over to order some food . Food was a mixed bag, two seafood rice , £20 pounds for some dryish rice and four prawns, seafood yakisoba , this wad tasty , teriyaki chicken and salad... again very dry and a salmon dish which was OK Sadly Charlotte the waitress spent more time chatting with two friends in the restaurant than serving the rest of the tables so we were constantly flagging her down for drinks .Decor nice , service and food poor , we won't return

We went to Gin & Sake with friends as a large group. Because of this, we preordered a few weeks in advance. Despite preordering, we had to wait an hour and a half for some dishes. There was no explanation or apology for this. The way the food was served was quite strange - dishes were brought out for some of the party, but the two of us who had ordered the sushi boats were left waiting, which meant some of our friends had had three courses by the time we had ours. Everyone had finished eating a long while before our food came. After 45 minutes waiting we were told the kitchen were just "starting to make the sushi boats now" and it was a further 45 minutes before they were served. Disappointingly, only one of the orders was actually served on the wooden boat, the second was just put on plates. The amount of sushi on the boat wasn't really worth £80, and while nice enough, lots of it was actually quite bland. Eventually, some money was taken off the bill, but we had to ask twice for this, the staff were really quite grumpy about it, and no apology or explanation was offered.

A slightly mixed review. First time here and it was nice enough. Decor is lovely and a very relaxed atmosphere. I had the tempura tofu, described on menu as delicious, but I couldn’t eat it, it was large chunks of tofu, fluffy in texture with a light ‘dusty’ coating. The texture made me feel sick. I do like tofu but am used to it cooked to a more pleasant texture and marinated for flavour. So, I don’t recommend this dish and will try veggie gyoza if we return. I enjoyed the veggie tamaki. Fresh flavours. We then had a long wait for mains, which was fine as we were relaxed with drinks, we were updated there was an issue in the kitchen and could hear them updating other tables too, we also had long wait for drinks and were told they were short staffed. My main of vegetable yasai soba was nice, but was all one flavour, like a gravy type of flavour and reminded me of a chow mein. Hate to say it but yasai soba is my fave dish at Wagamama and it’s full of different flavours and textures and is a ‘dry dish’ it’s ’wet’ here, which I appreciate may be more traditional? It just lacked a big flavour and noodles in a gravy style dish didn’t really do it for me. I like to taste the peppers, the various veg but it all tasted the same, I was slightly disappointed Husband loved it all, he had squid, chicken udon and said it was amazing. Overall it was nice but I wouldn’t rush back but looks like we will be as husband enjoyed and I would like to try other options too

Although I had booked many weeks in advance and was not a walk in , we were seated on a tiny table between two other couples ,which was slightly off putting and there were many larger tables unoccupied but we were able to order drinks immediately ( waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive ) and we were excited to try the menu. The food was beautifully presented but my soft shell crab lacked flavour and I had to add soy sauce and the seafood noodles dish whilst delicious , contained a very small portion of seafood, with just two mussels , two pieces of squid and several prawns . A dish costing almost twenty pounds deserves to be bursting with the colours and flavours of the sea . My friends rice dish was also very small for the price. We decided to add dessert and this was just a great disappointment, as it was literally a pancake cut into pieces with a small scoop of ice cream and a quarter of a strawberry . It tasted quite bland and not really what we had expected at all. Our bill with wine, was just under seventy pounds each and whilst I am thrilled Bridgend now has more choice of restaurants than ever before, Gin and Sake will need to improve in portion size and generosity of ingredients to compete . I hope it can do this, as the decor is lovely and the staff were amazing from start to finish .
