Absolutely dreadful. Some silly sausage doesn’t understand that when I said a “plain doner meat and chips” that I wanted no salad and NO SAUCE. Got home the first time and had garlic mayo on it. Called back and was told to return to the shop and they’d replace it for me so I drove back and gave them my food to replace. Whilst they were preparing my replacement a woman started questioning me talking about “it doesn’t even smell very garlicy” to her. After I got my replacement I came back home and opened it to find it covered in mayonnaise so called the shop again. They said they’d replace it again so I drove back to the shop, AGAIN, and handed them the wrong order. Whilst they were replacing my food for the 2nd time 2 of the woman decided to try and berate me that I should’ve ordered it and said “no salad and no sauce” rather than just saying “can I have it plain” as apparently to them plain means plain mayonnaise. The man on the phone was very apologetic but I wasn’t offered any form of compensation nor even apology for such shocking service. And when I finally got home to eat my food I took 5 bites of my doner meat and felt sick due to the amount of grease that it was sat swimming around in. The chips weren’t cooked through properly so I bit into a soft chip to find raw potato in the middle of it. So just a quick warning don’t waste your money as after my experience I think I would’ve rather shared my dogs food than waste my time driving to the shop 3 times and then feeling sick after 5 mouthfuls. Absolutely shambolic.

Ive been coming to this chip shop for many years. I'm not quite sure what's happened 😕 it does seem since it changed hands to ocean Palace its gone downhill. The past few months going there have been very disappointing. The chips are bland, the curry sauce is watery and the kebabs are chewy have no taste to them and cut far to thick.. We won't be going back. sorry to say.

Had many meals from here this year and they've been delicious every time. The team are always friendly and efficient. Great quality fish and chips. Their kebabs are also excellent.

The staff here are great, have a good level of service, are friendly, professional, and fun to talk too, quiet happy to engage in friendly banter making for a great atmosphere. The fish was delicious, curry sauce was good, and some of the chips could have done a little longer in the fryer. My daughter didn't enjoy the battered sausage, but I thought it was OK. The pizzas I've had from here in the past were tasty, and the kebabs were very nice.

So, be prepared for the phone call, you will need to be patient. The man who takes your order runs your nerves by asking for your phone number ten times, never getting it right, then saying it does not matter. Further, he constantly calls you mate, which is really annoying. I finally ran out of patience with the guy and closed the phone. This has happened several times and I’ve just had it with the lack of professionalism and the basic lack of customer service skills. For a business that has been on this site for 100 years, they have learned nothing about making the transaction smooth and uncomplicated.

This is our favourite Fish and Chip shop in the area. Fresh fish and piles of chips. Parking can be tight down the side street, especially on a Friday night.

Been going here for what seems like all my life. Never had a bad meal from here and the pizzas are to die for! Dominos eat your heart out

The fish and chips were great. I had a big order on a Friday evening and it was made quickly and accurately. Brilliant!! The name of the chip shop has changed though. Its now called Queens Palace.

Food order wrong again every time I go in something is missing .

Opening hours on google showed till 11.30. Arrived at 9.30 to find closed.

Worst chips in Nottinghamshire, absolutely dry as a bone. It’s like they were weeks old. Disgusting. Since 1920…yeh the chips tasted like they were cooked in 1920 more like. Awful.

Well I've been going here for over 25 years now in various names and ownership. Well famed locally for its kebabs, pizzas, and excellent serving sizes/pricing. This is a local community 'hotspot' ...sorry to the owners though to say it'll always be "Queens Palace" to me 😂😂😂😂

Disappointing to say the least. Last Friday I made a telephone order at 20:20 I was told it would take 45 minutes - no problem, it's expected as food is being freshly cooked. 20 minutes later (!!) I get my order of small fish and chips, mixed kebab meat and cone of chips. The fish was freshly cooked, kebab meat was ok, but oh my goodness the chips were cold, looked old and tasted nasty!!! The two small portions of chips I ordered turned up as 2 extra large bags that would have fed a family of 6 adults, obviously trying to get rid of old and cold chips via my order. Freshly cooked chips don't look or taste like that. I threw the chips away and cooked oven chips lol. Total waste of money!!! Standards have definitely gone down!! Will not be ordering from them again.

Seems to have gone downhill. Last recent order was late and barely warm. The order before they mixed up the order with someone else's. Who knows what we'll get next. Shame really and hope they improve on this.

Got my order in half hour after the shop opened 12" pizza and chips for over £12.50 to be delivered.. The order arrived 1.47 minutes later less than a mile away, stone cold.. pizza was nice after warming up in the oven

This really is the best fish and chip shop around. The good is tasty and not greasy, would definitely recommend. They also do kebabs and pizzas although I haven't trued them

Lots for your money and really tasty

Pizza was nice,it's the 1st time I've been back since I tried their chips,and had serious stomach pains,who h lead to being off work ill. Still won't have their fish n chips, but the cheese n pineapple pizza I had was yummy.

Had a chicken kebab, delicious meat, downfall was the pitta bread, small, kept breaking up and couldn't make anything out of it and it looked like it was from the local supermarket.

Great fish & chips. Also love their massive pizza's. Doing a great job in these difficult times.

Pizzas arrived, both were mouldy on the bottom of the face with specs of mould dotted around, as well as creeping up to the crust in places. Chips were also a bit cold and soggy. Whilst I’ve had good experiences at this place for years, it has certainly gone downhill recently and will definitely not be returning.

Just had kebab and chips, chips was rock hard kebab smelt like dog food. I WILL NEVER HAVE ANYTHING FROM THERE AGAIN. Oh and it was very untidy in the shop

i wouldn't even give this a 1* it was disgraceful the staff was not polite looked like the fish i had had been in there for a week and the chips was hard and chewy on the ends. the fish was so dry it was disgusting walked out and threw it in the bin then i went up to kimberley and tried the chip shop on james street its a little chip shop on the corner but they was queuing out the door i heard someone shout can you put me a large cod in so i asked for 1 and honestly it was so good better than yours old fish

Best local Fish bar for miles. I haven't found anywhere locally that does a fish as good as these guys although it's a tad greasey at times. There's even a local George's only 15 minutes up the road and they don't even compare to this.

Tried more than ten times to ring up to place an order over the coarse of 30 minutes. Each time the phone just rang and rang and rang and nobody would pick up.. Utterly ridiculous. Need to employ more staff

Worst kebab I've ever had. . . .and I've had a few! Meat was barely cooked, chilli sauce was sweet with a bit of a kick and when I order a kebab I don't expect to have to put it together myself, the pitta wasn't even sliced!!!
