Caused me to throw up straight away and messed up my stomach

Guy running the place seemed really friendly. The BEST chips around. The one chippy to actually put a good amount of salt and vinegar on. Will definitely come again. Thanks

burger was disgraceful- ordered cheeseburger (plain no salad sauce) baked beans... got a hard dry burger no cheese in cob that was crusty on edges, and was given curry and not beans - so not very enjoyable for the kids tea at all :(

Ordered for delivery at 6:45, but this did not arrive until 7:15. I also ordered and paid for a bottle of Coke yet was only given a can in the order. Bottle was more expensive than a can.

This place was recommended to me so I've tried twice to order. 2nd order here via Just Eat. 2nd Order CANCELED, and this is AFTER EXTENDING my delivery time TWICE the 2nd time and once the first time. This means they KNEW the order was there, they made the order date later TWICE and then finally cancelled it, I've been waiting 1hr 30mins for food and you just cancel it? Sorry but I refuse to give these clowns any more in the future, do not treat your customers like this. Well no, don't blame just eat, because when I went on your profile you've some how sold out of Fish at 6PM on a Thursday.

Proper good chippy. Everything freshly made while you wait, with a friendly service. Generous portions, excellent value for money and very very tasty food.

We got chip cobs delivered for our wedding reception. A very popular choice with our guests. Food was delivered on time and hot. Really good quality.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips—crispy, golden batter with perfectly flaky fish and chips that are light and fluffy inside. The portions are generous, the food is always fresh, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Great value for the quality, and easily one of the best spots in Nottingham for a classic chippy!

Pretty poor to be honest. Chips were dry, large curry sauce pot tipped over in the bag with lid off so had a great time pouring sauce out of the bag. Finally the note we left on the order about salt and vinegar was totally ignored. Not good.

food was greasy :( fish was swimming :( the pie was hard and very dry :( very disappointed this time. we ended up with beans from home with chips cos it went in the bin.

Missing a piece of cod, what did arrive was far too greasy, felt like I took a bath in grease. Chips were ok but didn’t come with enough salt or any vinegar. Poor quality overall

Thank you for another delicious meal. Food is always freshly cooked and the service is fantastic. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and 10/10 service.

The fish was overly oily, leaving a greasy mess with every bite. The chips were so heavily salted they were nearly inedible. When I raised these issues with the staff, they were dismissive and rude, acting as though any feedback was beneath them. The entire experience was unpleasant, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The fish arrived like a bloated corpse dredged from some oil-slicked harbor, its battered flesh dripping with grease as though it had just escaped the fryer’s infernal depths. The chips—my God, the chips—were a sodium bomb fit to kill a lesser man. One bite and I was left parched, gasping for water like a castaway at sea. This wasn’t food; it was punishment.

Sorry but it’s not the same quality Asti used to be , you need to use Separate Friers for different items . Something spiced was cooked with the Fish and Chips possibly three Southern Frir Chicken Strips and it ended up tasting the same

Choose Gill’s My choice was Mini Fish with Reg. Chips, like all good chippys you always get plenty of chips. Fish was excellent also.

Having heard good reports about gill’s this was our first time ordering. But unfortunately it wasn’t the best. No sauce with the kebab meat and chips, the fish was dry, curry sauce and peas watery..

I can't fault the food but I wish you would advertise that you haven't got cod rather than wait in a busy queue just to be told you haven't got any just haddock, this is the second time this has happened, ....please cross it off your menu if you don't do cod, not a lot to ask

Ordered over an hour in advance. Restaurant is 15min drive away. Just eat driver arrived at restaurant extremely late - arrived 15 minutes after the expected delivery time. So even if food had been ready immediately, the 15min drive would then have resulted in a half an hour delay. However, Restaurant then did not have food ready (despite ordering over an hour in advance), so Just Eat Driver then had to wait a further 30 minutes, then drive the 15mins to my house. So food was over an hour late.

the driver was driving around the estate with my food when I put my address into my satnav it takes me directly to the carpark at home these drivers end up driving around the estate then you have to go walking the streets looking for them it's absolutely ridiculous

Looked on line for a decent fish and chip shop and Gills came up. I didn't know the area. The fish was awful, no substance to it unfortunately. I did get a lot of chips. Definitely wasn't worth £10,50. Obviously would not recommend it.

After moving back to the area I've struggled to find a good chip shop. Well the search is over. The fish tastes fresh and is nicely battered. Chips are well cooked and taste good and tonight I tried the spring roll...it was better than any Chinese one I've had. The owner and the lad working was both friendly.

I had an amazing experience at this chip shop the owner i’m guessing and one of the lads that work there were lovely and so efficient at their jobs! and amazing food!!

Having just helped my daughter move into the area, we needed to find somewhere to buy takeaway food. As Gill's was opposite, we thought it would be worth trying. Food was delicious, but our experience was ruined by the lady who served us. Her maths (despite using some kind of till) meant we were overcharged. Instead of the £31.00 it should have been she made it £35.00. When I queried this, she double-checked her sum and insisted she was right. When I asked for a till receipt so I had a record of my spending, she, and (I assume) the owner, both refused to provide one. It will be a long while before I go there again.

food was cold gravy had skin on it.driver was all over broxtowe before he got to us.went looking for driver he didnt get out of his car to deliver.if this was 1st order i would never order again.

I collected a too good to go bag from here yesterday and bought two portions of haddock and a portion of chips too - food was delicious, batter not too thick or greasy - portions generous and the owner was very friendly and the prices really reasonable - I think I’ve found my new chippy!

Ordered the cod and chips from here while visiting the town and the food was well made and really hit the spot. It’s difficult to find a chippy that makes a great curry sauce, but here it was the best I’ve had. The service was fast and the food here is reasonably priced. Overall I’d highly recommend Gill’s and would definitely visit here again when I return.

Well what can I say googled fish and chips and this little gem came up . Now I don’t normally eat fish and chips from places what do kebabs as-well. I normally just think it’s too much to handle more than other Chippys do lol. But I gave it a shot and I was not disappointed the chips were nicely cooked with that little crisp edge and the fish was bang on not greasy but perfectly crisp. And the gravy took me back to my school days proper gravery lol. Definitely worth a try I’ll be back. Also the price was perfect for a fish and chips with gravy £7.50 🤯
