Gille Brighde Restaurant in Highland

A decent place with dishes prepared with care by a Dutch chef. It’s in a charming location and a lovely place in which to spend lunch, which is what we did. Prices are quite punchy, but if that’s the price of ensuring places like this remain viable, then so be it.

Definitely make a reservation, excellent food, definitely worth it.

Fantastic place, lovely staff and delicious food. They try to use local products as much as possible (currently local butter😏). That day we were able to sit outside in the sun and felt like we were on the Mediterranean.

This is our second experience in this place. Excellent little restaurant at the end of the world. Not only is the place exceptional, but the cuisine is also excellent. The scallops and venison were perfect. All for reasonable prices (for Scotland…).

Absolutely wonderful - we enjoyed the scallops, panko breaded sole "fish and chips" as well as sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble. Everything was delicious. And the atmosphere was superb - a warm welcome and beautiful views. I am so glad we were recommended this place!

Super cute eatery with extremly helpful, witty and attentive staff. The seafood platter was amazing. Tiny kitchen that produces a very decent selection of nicely executed dishes. Small but surprisingly well chosen, eclectic, and good value for money wine list. We didn‘t try them, but the desserts also looked spectacular. You have to understand that this is in the middle of nowhere but an excellent restaurant that seems pretty frequented. Highly recommended if you‘re in the area!

A special place in an idyllic setting. The food and drink was outstanding and the service was personalised and superb. Menu sourced locally and was unique and gluten free options available.

We came here for dinner after a long walk and it was perfect. So cosy with a very comfortable atmosphere. The owner was lovely and very friendly and funny. Food was also delicious and you can tell the seafood is fresh. The only thing that let it down was the veggie options on the menu - although it is a seafood restaurant so if you don’t have any veggies on your table it’s not a problem. Highly recommend and make sure you book a table as it seems to be full most nights!

Excellent fresh food focusing on local produce, in a stunning location. The road to Lower Diabaig is a little daunting, but well worth the trip. The horseshoe-shaped bay is almost like visiting another planet. The service was very friendly too. Thoroughly recommended, but book in advance. It's a small restaurant, and a long drive if it's full!

A must visit when you are out adventuring the Highlands. This was a very welcomed find when I was out taking pictures, set in an amazing location in the heart of a natural cove looking out to sea. The food was fresh and well prepared with a very good selection to choose from as well, the owners were very friendly and took a great interest in there guests as well as very knowledgeable about the area. A great place to just relax and enjoy some home cooked meals and cakes.

For those who have never been here, you will never be able to appreciate the warmth and warmth of humanity here. The lady who served us made me feel very respected. At this time I have to get back to the point. The four of us girls ordered a table of authentic Scottish dishes, including lobsters and scallops fished out of the sea, which were fresh and left a fragrant aroma in our mouths. They were so delicious that we will definitely rave about them. It was fresh, sweet and delicious. We also ordered the specially prepared deer. The meat prepared by the chef was so tender and juicy that we couldn’t tell what kind of meat it was. It was so soft, tender and tasted really great. As for the decoration inside the restaurant, it is full of joy. Every corner has been carefully designed by the boss. I can't imagine that in this out-of-the-way restaurant, the business is so good. If I have the opportunity, I will still do it. Come here or even stay long. Choose this restaurant in Diyarbaig and you will not be disappointed! In particular, chef Amanda will come out to greet the guests at the main table. The atmosphere in the entire restaurant is so harmonious that even though we are Asians from Taiwan, we are treated with great respect. We are so full today...Seafood and white wine are a perfect match. Anyone who wants to come here must go to this restaurant and make a reservation in advance!

The couple who owns the restaurant is so lovely, the seafood is totally worth splurging on - it's some of the most local, freshest stuff around. The drive is a bit committed with a narrow and windy road the whole way - but also one of the most scenic drives in the country! Worth booking a few weeks in advance!

Well worth the effort to reach it, I would highly recommend Gille Brighde. Fabulous food served in relaxing, friendly surroundings. The village of Lower Diabaig is absolutely beautiful too.

Rustic atmosphere, but the food is exquisite and always freshly prepared. Very friendly staff. Well-behaved dogs are allowed into the restaurant.

A treat guaranteed in this restaurant which gives pride of place to local products and Scottish specialties (special mention for the cullin skink). Warm welcome and pretty terrace with a view of the loch. Reservation essential (especially because it is the only establishment in the area, it would be a shame to have to turn around)

Wonderful find, excellent food, and great service in a beautiful spot. The road to the restaurant is amazing with glorious views but not for the faint-hearted or camper van drivers.

You will be greeted with a smile and a friendly staff. The food is great and they have a nice selection of local brews. Make sure to book in advance because they are often fully booked. It is beautifully located at the bay with the highlands in the background.

This little resturant out in the Highlands of scottland is so super cousy with really amazing food and really amazing staff Laura & Alex and the very amazing owners Amanda & Art we defintly come back. The view from resturang is incredible beautiful and the wild life in the bay makes it even better Really recomend this resturant Most important is to book a table before you come here because its usally buisy

One of our favourite secret places. We couldn't eat here on our visit to the Highlands on this occasion as the timings didn't work out but what an excellent place this is and the surroundings are stunning. Takes a bit of work to get to tho but that's all part of the joy.

Absolutely unbelievable! The “restaurant at the end of the universe” or “...the street”. Fantastic food, super-nice innkeepers, fantastic surroundings. No. 1 in Scotland!

We had Amanda and Aart and their team cater my daughter’s wedding in Kinlochewe. They provided food on arrival day, beautifully presented and arranged so that we could serve as needed, as well as rehearsal dinner and the wedding banquet. The food was impeccable, the table settings lovely, and their interaction with us all were absolute highlights for everyone (we didn’t realize we were getting stand up comedy too!). They were so easy to work with, even from the States. I regret we were not able to go to the restaurant as we were there after they closed for the season, but I know it would be a great experience.

Art and Amanda provided multi-night catering for a wedding I attended recently. The guest’s dietary needs were extensive: allergies to pork and shellfish, vegan, gluten-free. Art and Amanda made sure there were delicious options for everyone and didn’t put any less effort into the vegan and gluten free options. Each of the three courses for every meal were fantastic. They also created some breakfast items for us to have the following morning, which were similarly delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Amanda sources beautiful local ingredients. The service from the whole team was attentive and professional. We loved having them as part of the celebration.

Had a beautiful lunch Art and Amanda where both friendly and attentive, the ambiance was light and fun and the food was excellent especially the perfectly cooked scallops, cod and amazing beef that melted in the mouth and that secret gravy!! What a hidden gem!!! Well worth a visit!! Best to book however on this adventure I got lucky just by calling. Thankyou very much 😊

5 stars is not enough! We stumbled on this restaurant without knowing it was there. Cannot express how superb everything was! They are so passionate about their food and you can tell, we gave feedback and Aart was very humble by our opinion but you could tell he loved the positive feedback. What a location and team you have!!

You must visit this restaurant!!! I repeat, YOU MUST VISIT! We got there in our campervan, the road was scary and we doubted where we were headed for a minute, but when we finally sat down in this quaint beautiful, welcoming restaurant we knew it was all worth it. We read reviews before, people saying the food was spectacular and still it exceeded those expectations. The food was perfect, fresh, unbelievable, by far the best meal we have had in Scotland. We will be back!

Delicious dinner (hand-dived scallops, venison steak, cod fillet), a lovely host and a cosy atmosphere. A special restaurant with a good and sustainable ethos. Well worth the 1hr drive over from Arrina. We only wish we'd left room for one of the desserts! Thanks again 😊

Visited many times and always impeccable food and most friendly service ever. Latest visit we were welcomed to park the camper out front for the night and enjoy the location. It’s worth a detour but make sure you book ahead!

Amazing find at end of no through road Superb menu & service in a spectacular setting

Always a pleasure to visit Gille Brighde and last night was no exception. Came here for my daughter's 21st and it was well worth the 6 hour round trip from home. Food was excellent, the baked Minger Brie starter was wonderful and I followed that with a venison steak that was cooked to perfection and tasted divine. My daughter really enjoyed the seafood platter. We shared a large cheeseboard for dessert. Service from Beth was brilliant - attentive without being fussy, friendly and efficient, all rounded off with a warm smile 👍🏻 My daughter couldn't think of anywhere she would rather have been and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

We hadn't booked, so were only there for a drink and snack. Lovely setting, views and staff. So glad we decided to explore a little further. What a gem of a place.

Our second meal at this fantastic wee restaurant, and it was every bit as good as our first visit. Fabulous food, a good quality wine list, great hosts and an amazing location. One of our favourite places to visit and we love the stunning drive over!

Worth travelling 800 miles for dinner, unpretentious, superb food in a stunning location.

Super little restaurant at what feels like the end of the world. Old, comfortable, tiny and with excellent food from local ingredients (and far more than the ubiquitous battered fish), not to mention super friendly staff. NB no draft beer and you MUST book. Highly recommended, but not for those who don’t like very narrow, steep and twisty drives!

Top quality food and service in an idilic location. I wasn't inspired by the vegetarian mains option so I had the Vegetarian Haggis Samosa starter made in to a mains with chips added. Absolutely delicious and far superior to a standard pub or restaurant meal. Hope to be able to return sometime.

Had a 3 hour delay collecting filming equipment owners were very accommodating whilst not open with hot drinks. Was still there when they did open and had to try some of their amazing menu,resulting in the best burger ever had by far, will be returning and doing the 440 mile trip with the wife to have a proper sit down meal some point over the summer, truly a well hidden gem.

Oh dear. We had really looked forward to this visit for a long time. The service was somewhat chaotic, but to be fair this could have been due to a change to a new system of ordering and paying. However my goulash was not very hot on arrival. I should have asked for it to be reheated but given the chaotic atmosphere thought better of it. We felt the food was average for the price paid. The guy serving us was lovely. Overall very disappointed. Maybe we just got unlucky.

Unbelievable spot for our final dinner in Scotland. “At the end of the road” is very true. The drive is not for the faint of heart but the scenery is incredible. The owners and kitchen staff were engaging and hilarious. The meals would typically be found at a 5-star restaurant in a city somewhere. A truly memorable experience after hiking in the Highlands for several days. Totally worth the effort. I’d recommend reservations well in advance (6-8 weeks).

Wonderful little gem of a restaurant hidden away at the end of "the road". Cosy decor, amazing fresh food and lovely owner (Amanda) will offer you a glimpse of Scottish food at its finest yet nothing pretentious. Felt privileged to have had a lovely moment there eating delicious food. Thank you for the memory, hopefully we'll be back one day!

One of the best restaurant locations in the Highlands at the end of a stunning road and with some of the best food. Combine all that with friendly service and you have a winner, on all fronts.

I only stopped for a drink but it looks like a great place to eat as well. The location is fantastic. You can have a great walk during the day and visit the restaurant before going home.

Sunday lunch was delicious. Especially welcome after a walk along the coast path. Go here if you enjoy remote places, good food and log fire.

A great location, then it just gets better. As the nominated driver I enjoyed (yes) non alcoholic shandy.

It's well worth the spectacular drive to reach this brilliant little restaurant. Booking is essential as, despite its remoteness, it is very popular. Aart and Angela work hard to produce excellent food. The Sunday lunch (set menu) is a real treat. Vegans and vegetarians are catered for too and they will do their best to accommodate other dietary requirements. There is a small but excellent wine list and a selection of local beers ciders and soft drinks.

We visited for an evening meal - booked ahead as they are busy in the evenings and don't always have space for walk-ins. Food was fabulous, atmosphere was friendly and warm, and not crowded (possibly due to COVID restrictions). Took dessert to go as we were nicely full, and it was also delicious. Would highly recommend.
