1st time used, chips and mushy peas. Excellent, proper chips, nicely well done. Definitely use again when in pool.

Ordered for the first time tonight from Just Eat, large fish and chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. Also ordered 12" cheese, ham, and mushroom calzone. The order arrived super fast and the fish and chips were very tasty, although they could have done with being a bit warmer! The calzone was nice. I do think cheese should come as standard on the calzone though and not really count as 1 of the 3 toppings, but apart from that I have nothing negative to say about this take away and would definitely order from them again!

Do not say your open till 10pm and close early! Extremely frustrating when especially when your on holiday!

I have been going for as long as I can remember but for fish and chips one fish on its own and a carton of peas just over £17 it's getting a bit pricey for us

Just ordered fish and chips and a 12 inch pepperoni pizza, and a large kebab, got to say all the family enjoyed their meals, will be back soon, plus a bonus on top customer service was very good.

The fish had oil dripping from it. Tastes like burnt. looks like the oil is old. Was on a business trip from London.

Excellent service and good food. Best place in Hartlepool during the Tall Ships, as not screwing the public with price increases.

This has to be one of the best if not the best fish and chips shop we’ve visited. The service was excellent and friendly which is exactly what you’d want when going to an independent shop. I wish I could give them 6 stars. As we didn’t have cash, we used JustEat on the spot to order (so glad the lady told us this as we were walking away). We waited for our order in the shop and could see the owners’ attention and hard work going into each order. The quality of the fish and chips was excellent, tasty, fresh and not overly oily. The area did look a bit tired and didn’t fill us with confidence when we got there initially but the shop is worth definitely visiting again. We were glad that we made the little detour from the sea front. The service and quality make this place exceptional.

Amazing service, always friendly and welcoming, can always chat the gills for ages about random things haha. Food is outstanding and always ready quick whether it’s collection or delivery.

Far too expensive, food not good quality, always cold on arrival. Owner rude when complaining. I would certainly not recommend this place and I will never be going back!

Fantastic food, the lady who took my order was si helpful and friendly, food was spot on, even the delivery driver was so nice and cheerful. We will be back ordering, very soon.

Food was a 10/10, the Parmo's are a little different than usual because they don't have bechamel sauce but WOW ! Their own sauce is absolutely perfect. Gives the parmo a more savory/ restaurant sit down meal taste. Everything was perfect and delivery was quick! Can't wait for our next cheat night !

Recently went to gills after not been for a few year and the food is still as good as when it first opened, the staff make you feel friendly and are really nice people, would recommend anyone to go here

Ordered a few time, one by collection and the other by delivery. When I was in the shop the owners behind the counter was absolutely amazing. Friendly and well mannered. The food was delicious. Has a gills special pizza and large fish and chips. Both was cooked fresh Infront of me while I chatted to the owner. The delivery driver was a toxic old man, rude at the door, wouldn't stop talking about himself, how long he done this line of work etc.. Lucky phoned up the shop and explained the situation and assured me they sorted it never had an issue since. Would 100% recommend 👌

Excellent as all ways had a doner kebab other day no grease good meat compared to other places in hartlepool chicken burgers are lovely with a rich batter the onion rings that i orderd aswell was cooked just on point which was absolutely tasty overall I recommend for a try.

Just bought the fish and chips meal with peas or curry sauce and a drink. Was cooked freshly as there was no fish on display excellent huge portion excellent chips really soft inside crispy outside overall dont miss this place excellent top quality would be using here from now on

I've been using Gills now for more than 8 years and not once have I had a complaint. Absolutely beautiful food and brilliant service! Which is hard to come by.

Ordered food for me my partner and my kids and I got a small kebab with salad and garlic it is hands down the best kebab I've ever had even better than any kebab from any pizza shop I've had

This is the best all round takeaway for cod and chips, kebabs and burgers (the chilli burgers are excellent value, coming with chips at £3.20). The whole approach is customer service-oriented, as befits a family-run business. The standards of hygiene and cleanliness, but moreover, friendliness, are obvious to anyone stepping through the door. It appears to pride itself on its community-centred U.S.P. Gill's has a long-established reputation in Hartlepool, which is not unearned.The couple who run the business are always friendly and willing to pass the time of day. The fare is always delish. It is very reasonably priced too.

What a most pleasurable experience! So friendly and helpful, a little chat with someone after a hard days work really cheered me. The fish and chips cooked fresh eaten on the sea front was most excellent. It was only the second time going to enjoy this hidden gem but I will be back!!!

Called in just as they were closing after a long day in Hartlepool and a very poor experience at another local food outlet. The service here was outstanding, I can't stress enough just how friendly, polite and professional they were. The food was equally as good and the prices even better. Fantastic place!

Handy little establishment. I came across this chippy by accident a while ago as I was out and about working and was absolutely starving. The food smelled great and the welcome and staff were very helpful and friendly. It didn't cost a fortune and consequently I tend to use it when ever I'm passing by. I'd not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Some times the food here is good however I think they cook the chips too fast at too high a temperature so they are brown and a little underdone....could be a lot better
