Average. About best I can say . It's a resturant . It's OK bit to pink for me. Nothing special. Foods ok. Service was ok. Cannot see why it's so popular. Fashion I think. Anyway . Average like I say.

First time coming here and will DEFINITELY be coming again. Had a starter, main and dessert and everything was perfect. Beautiful food! Highly recommend.

We had dinner last in this beautiful restaurant, the food was fabulous. Just the right portion sizes, immaculately presented, delicious flavours and the staff were very friendly, would definitely come to this restaurant next time we are in Shrewsbury!

We booked a table for noon, and we were shown a table by the window, stunning, secluded, Owen asked us what drinks we would like, they were brought over, and we chose what we wanted for starters and main courses, Owen was quietly spoken, very polite and respectful, the food was delicious, piping hot and will definitely go back, the atmosphere was calm, peaceful and lovely, the decor is stunning, staff were friendly and professional. Owen served us throughout and was such a nice young man.

Takeaway portions are now laughable. Incredibly expensive, but you don't mind paying for good quality. They have reduced portions sizes now though, it's actually laughable - not even main meal sizes. Regularly missing items but nothing gets done about that. Really disappointing considering the price point. Go to the local Thai restaurants instead.

A great place - excellent food, service and ambience

I was away from home with work over my wedding anniversary, so my colleagues and I decided to go out for a lovely meal. I'm glad we chose the Giggling Squid as everything was superb! Thank you!

We were very happy to choose this place while visiting Shrewsbury town. Lovely light decoration. The staff are very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was well presented and tasty. Lovely fusion of flavours. More seating spaces upstairs, nice view overlooking old market hall area.

The atmosphere and service is great. The food is nice but overpriced and it’s not clear what you’re paying for. I.e I bought cashew noodle stirfry with chicken. They asked if I wanted noodles or rice with it. Slightly confusing as it stated it was a noodle stirfry. So I went with noodle. When the bill came we were charged for the extra noodles. We queried this and were told noodles/rice were extra. I found this deceiving. I spent £50 for a lunch that was nice but not £50 nice

Super place to eat.. fragrant, filling and quality ingredients.

My son & I decided to visit this restaurant for the first time today. The interior is beautiful & the staff were very welcoming. My son ordered chicken pad Thai, unfortunately it also contained tofu which he can't eat. My chicken maasamam tasted lovely, but was a little light on chicken & very watery. I left a tip for the young lady, on checking the receipt a service charge had already been added! My error, but disappointed with our visit.

Awful food, awful service. They forgot one meal when we ordered so just threw some gristle and fat on a plate covered it in some kind of sauce and served it. Wouldn’t have given that to our dog. Avoid!

Was temporarily in shrewsbury with friends when we decided to grab some food at this establishment.. big mistake. Our server Emileo, rushed to take our orders (the restaurant was pretty much empty), and overall carried a negative presence. That being said, our experience was not enjoyable. The food itself was enjoyable just wish the hospitality met the same criteria.

Service and restaurant were fabulous. Dropped a star because the pad Thai was completely flavourless. The panang curry was excellent though!

I recently visited your restaurant and had an unpleasant experience with the manager, Emilio. He was incredibly pushy and rude, not just towards the customers but also towards the staff. His behavior made the entire atmosphere uncomfortable. He constantly interrupted our meal, insisting we order more, and was visibly irritated when we declined. Additionally, I noticed him speaking harshly to the waitstaff, which was very unprofessional. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and really detracts from what should be an enjoyable dining experience. I hope this matter is addressed promptly.

I got food poisoning by the squid.

Had a lovely time at Giggling Squid, the place is gorgeous, food was incredible. Staff were super nice and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Food was absoloutely amazing, looked to try something new in Shrewsbury and this was just the right place.

We came here for lunch and each had one of the set tapas menus and another tapas each. Food was phenomenal! Nice and hot and full of flavour. I had the salt and pepper set dish and it was a bargain for under £16. Highly recommend!

If I can eat a plate I would !!! I’m Thai and I would say THIS IS REAL THAI FOOD EVER in England, Thai food does not need to be adapted taste to local to lost real taste of it 😚 I definitely go back again !

To be honest, the food isn’t great. There are far better and more fragrant Thai restaurants and Takeaways about. Portion size for the price they charge, isn’t impressive neither actually quite poor. Choice of food is very limited and poor. Service could do with a more friendly approach and could be speedier. We were waiting for ages only to get asked for drinks, which then again took ages to arrive. To be honest a bit more staff for a full house would definitely help. But then with the food just the opposite. The main came while my wife was still on here starter. And then comes the price, were you’re overcharged for what it was in my opinion, plus an secretly added on service charge your unaware off, till the receipt arrives, which then surprises you with an amount which makes your eyes water and makes you check you gone to the right restaurant as you wonder if you have just dined in a 5 star Michelin Star restaurant.

Had lunch it was Tuesday and snowy, the restaurant was quiet but the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. Really enjoyed our visit . Highly recommended

Service and atmosphere was great. I've given 3 stars on the food because I thought that too much pepper was used on everything. Also the tom yum rice was too sweet and didn't taste fresh. The sugar overwhelmed all the other flavours.

Had been meaning to try this restaurant since it opened, and finally made it. Definitely worth the wait. Very welcoming staff, great food, and great service. My wife does not like hot spiced food, and has an allergy, and both of these issues were very well catered for. A lovely lunchtime experience and will definitely return.

I ate here this evening and was left quite disappointed. When we entered we were asked if we had any allergies. We explained no, however that I am vegan. We then ordered 2 Vegan Pad Thais and it was only half way through eating them we discovered both contained egg. I notified a waitress and a new one without egg was arranged for me. I was then a bit shocked that I was still charged for the meal as normal after what I consider quite a serious mistake being made. I did query with the waitress whether anything could be done about the price considering what had happened. They took roughly £5 off the bill. Whilst I get mistakes happen as we are only human, I think it's important that when a mistake like this happens, the establishment takes full responsibility for it and understands what they've done. On this occasion I don't think this happened. I've been vegan 11 years and have been left very disappointed I've been fed egg against my will.

Second visit, as good as the first. Food was excellent, staff were great and the atmosphere was lively.

Our first visit to the Giggling Squid and it won’t be long before we go again. The food was delicious and the staff and service outstanding. I highly recommend a visit.

Not being local, we took a chance on having lunch at the Giggling Squid, and we're glad we did. We have been to a lot of Thai restaurants in England but the food we had was the best we have had for a long time. We had a lunch menu, Thai red beef curry, and a Thai green chicken curry. The depth of flavour and freshness of the vegetables in both dishes were simply wonderful. I only wish we lived closer. We would definitely go again.

Unfortunately, our most recent visit was just okay, but not amazing. I feel the upstairs area has too many tables, giving the feeling of being crammed in. Having too many tables also puts unnecessary pressure on the kitchen at peak times.

Wonderful restaurant in centre of Shrewsbury. Fabulous staff and very tasty food with great portion sizes, I thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely excellent experience! Zhuzhu was very attentive and friendly, and the food was very tasty. Zhuzhu even made me a flower! I'm definitely coming back.

This was my first venture out in wheelchair following operation, my son having been before and thoroughly recommending. From the moment we arrived the manager, i failed to get his name, went out of his way to get me comfortably seated. Great start i thought, then it got even better with exquisite tasting food and first class service from Max. In my view you get what you pay for and in my opinion the prices were fair for the food quality. The great atmosophere added to my experience and i have no hesitation in recommending. We will return!

Food was ok but VERY small plates and VERY pricey for the size of them. Says it's tapas but it's just tiny portions. Our desert had a quarter of a strawberry on it!

Excellent atmosphere, lovely servers and delicious food! As vegans we were well catered for with multiple delicious options. Highly recommended for a date, celebration or catch up with friends.

Amazing food, great staff, nothing to complain about or flag

Had lunch with my friend two weeks ago during our vacation the food was delicious however the service disappointed us at all. Drinks took so much time to make on which we only ordered a bellini and still water but was given sparkling 🙃. During our mains I asked the staff for fresh plates and cutlery but none of it came until we finished our food using one fork each imagine eating a curry with fork and no plate. Unacceptable and awful service the staffs were all in the bar chitchatting and none of them check us back. As a person working in hospitality I feel sad about removing service charge at the end but they dont deserve it.

Great find in Shrewsbury - great food and drink - lovely atmosphere.

Turned up late to my table booking a few weeks ago, due to the shocking traffic in Shrewsbury! The team at the giggling squid managed to still seat us, completely understood the issues with getting in, our table was perfectly situated upstairs in a window, drinks were fast arriving and the food was deliciously prepared and very aesthetically pleasing, and exactly matches the ambience and vibes created! Delicious!

We had a very nice Saturday lunch at the Giggling Squid to celebrate my birthday, all treated by my son. The service and food we received was excellent, and if it wasn't for my two gripes, I would have given GS 5 stars. However, as mentioned we do have a couple of gripes, firstly my dear wife does take her time when given a vast menu choice, so we thought we would do our homework beforehand. We made our selection after much deliberations, we decided to have the tapas selection. But, we were duly told, by our waitress that they don't offer the tapas menu on a Saturday. My second gripe, although this didn't really affect me directly, as my son picked up the bill. Was the 8% service charge added to the bill. When are establishments going to stop adding this service charge to their customer's bills, customers really don't like this added tax, and it does effect turnover. If I receive good service, I would always leave a tip, but to have this added directly to my bill without my consent, I find is unacceptable, hence we my wife and I won't be returning back to the Giggling Squid in the future, which is a shame as mentioned that the service and food was excellent. I believe the cost of our meal for 4 was around £140, with a charge of £11 service charge. Loss revenue for two birthdays, plus wedding anniversary meal would be around £450. GS. I believe they do put a statement on the bottom of the bill, stating that the service charge is not compulsory, and you can ask for it to be removed if poor service is received. My son said he didn't want the embarrassment, of asking for it to be removed, after all this meal is meant to be a celebration meal.

While they have obviously done what they can, it still feels like eating in a cafeteria. Food seemed to rely more on spice than taste. Either drink soft drinks or lager, as the food kills the taste of any wine, which I found expensive.

Had a busy day and was delighted to find anywhere that would serve me a good lunch at 4:30 Wait staff were there whenever I wanted them and unobtrusive otherwise (why do so many restaurants get that wrong?) The menu was good and the main course excellent - a sea bass curry where despite a strong spicy and delicious sauce, both the texture and the flavour of the fish shone through - in fact, lots of individual flavours and textures of different vegetable ingredients were discernable too. Thank you. Very good.

Great atmosphere sadly let down by the food being mediocre. Not much taste in either mine or my partners food. I ordered a main with sticky rice but the rice just came as gloop looking more like rice pudding than rice. In addition the waiter then tried to tell me this is how it is normally served without even giving it a look. Almost like he had been told by the chiefs to say this. If you want real, authentic, quality Thai food then I would definitely recommend skipping this place and going to the House of Yum in the market hall Shrewsbury, where I have never been let down once! I will not be visiting again at all.

I ordered the vegetable pad Thai wich was tasty but a bit greasy. I have had other meals there which have been good. There deserts are very nice.

The service was very poor. Mains were served whilst still eating our starters. No offer of additional drinks, desert, or coffee. Eventually, I had to go to the till to ask for the bill - and lol, they had added a service charge! Food is good, drinks are expensive, especially a bottle of wine at £28.

One of my favourite thai places to eat, now newly opened in Shrewsbury! The salt and pepper squid is epic. Loved the curries they carry also. The decor is just so floral and fresh! And the lychee angel is the best soft-drink spritzer they make, so yummy and light!

We were having a lovely meal until one of our party fell ill. She was taken outside for some fresh air and unfortunately was sick and she passed out. The team at the giggling squid initially came out and asked how she was and also bought a chair out. Passers by were concerned and helped but the assistance from the restaurant was non existent after. The manageress from Ask Itallia next door was really helpful. Even though we had not used her restaurant. She helped support her and got tissues and bags plus a glass of water and stayed with us until the ambulance arrived. We eventually paid the bill at the Giggling Squid but they didn't show much concern or interest and did not take any details of the event that happened in their restaurant. Which I would have expected after someone who had used their restaurant ended up in the back of an ambulance. The manageres at the Ask Italia did ask and also noted the incident to her boss. So, thanks to Ask Italia and no thanks to the Manager at the Giggling Squid but at least you got paid eh.

Can’t recommend enough ! I have been trying to get my husband to eat Thai food and reluctantly he gave in today, we were so not disappointed, Michal looked after us from the moment we stepped through the doors til the time we left, we ordered two sharing platters and enjoyed everything. We have been going into Shrewsbury for the last 5 years since moving to Welshpool, we have always been disappointed where we have eaten and not returned to the same restaurants twice. We were so delighted and surprised today by the quality, taste and even the decor and cleanliness of ‘Giggling Squid’ we will be highly recommending and returning ourselves time and time and time again !! The food is ok but very expensive. I did not want to review but I decided to after a terrible error by the restaurant which could have taken my daughters life. Please be on your guard if you have a peanut allergy it's to late after you have eaten half of what you ordered. Yes the desserts was taken off the bill and 50% discount was given but what astounded me when the waiter came running over after they realised they could have made a fatal mistake . My daughter dropped her spoon and asked for a large bottle of water immediately, which she began to drink. The astonishing part is that £4.20 for the water was put on the bill. Really I should have refused to pay anything. The bill for 5 main courses was £188.00. £94.00 AFTER DISCOUNT.

A beautifully laid out restaurant on two floors with lovely flower paintings on walls. Excellent service but disappointed with the food. There are around 5 thai places in Shrewsbury and this one doesn't really measure up. I particularly noticed the over use of sugar in the food.

The building was absolutely stunning. Felt clean and calm. The food was delicious and come quite quickly after being ordered.

Lovely restaurant, great service and amazing food. What more could you ask for? We had a mixed share starter before both having mains with a side of rice each. Really good portion sizes, food was very quick and expertly cooked. A little on the expensive side, but worth every penny Prawn crackers were fabulous

If I could give the food 6 stars, I would! Beautiful food in a beautiful building. We were sat in the upstairs area, which is so photogenic! The food was outstanding, well cooked, well presented and delicious. Service was quick, and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. There seemed to be plenty of them available, too, which is great to see on a busy Saturday night. We can highly recommend the starter sharing platters, great choice, and selection if you're not sure what to have. We followed that with the confeit duck and marrinated beef - both delicious! Booking was easy through the website. It did seem to be busy, so I would recommend booking in advance. I'm sure we will be returning very soon!

I’ve been to GS in Bristol, London, Kingston and now here. Sadly, this restaurant chain seems to have deteriorated. The atmosphere in Shrewsbury is nice although the tables are very close together and we were squashed by the upstairs serving area. Service was good, prompt and helpful. The taste of the food is good as the sauces are authentic but the dishes are padded out with large pieces of vegetables and poor quality meat both the chicken penang and lamb massauman dishes were dry and stringy meat and the pad Thai was very greasy. The squid starter was over cooked and rubbery. The chain needs to improve the quality of its ingredients. Room for improvement and not good value for money.

Lovely restaurant area and good food, but expensive (especially the drinks). There are a couple of other Thai restaurants in the town centre which offer the same, if not better, quality food at more reasonable prices. Its good for anyone wanting easy/disabled access, as there is ground floor seating and its in the heart of the town centre

Was ok nothing special. My meal came cold crispy chicken, microwaved then given back. Thought it was a bit dear for it all especially drinks. Don’t think I’d come back again sorry 😞

Visited for an anniversary lunch, not the worst experience but definitely not the best. Greasy, oily food completely overwhelmed with raw garlic and no other discernable flavours, yes stir fries noodles should have some oil to them, but the bottom of the bowl should not have a tablespoon of oil. The atmosphere is incredibly overwhelming with loud music making it difficult to have a conversation. The only saving grace was the wait staff who were super lovely.

What an absolute treat. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was sensational. Michal was very attentive and knowledgeable and catered to our needs perfectly. Food was pretty decent, although having eaten in various restaurants in this chain, the food wasn't as good as I have previously experienced at giggling squid. The staff were friendly enough. I must admit found that the tables are very,very close together on the upper level, too close for comfort infact and the restaurant was very loud on account of the size/number of people. I prefer to be in a more relaxed setting when I eat. There has definitely been a compromise on the overall comfort in the persuit of fitting in as many tables as possible. You can hardly fit the food on the tables for 2. But overall, it's on the better side of chain restaurants in the grand scheme of things.

The food was excellent just we would have liked to know when coriander was used in the dishes because not everyone likes it and also more mint leaves in the mint tea because it clearly tasted like water and That cooled us down a bit but apart from that the food was incredible especially the giggling wings

The starter was nice, the mian course Thai pad had no flavour and very bland.

Today here in Shrewsbury. Very few guests and staff chatting. Dirty table. Had to get my cutlery myself after being served. Wasn’t impressed with the papaya salad, the tomato’s were old. It didn’t look appealing to the eye. Pad Thai was ok but I hoped for more fragrant taste.

I tried this restaurant chain recently, service was excellent and there was a buzz in the atmosphere. From a food perspective, the starters were nice and tasty but the main courses seemed to consist of under cooked vegetable stalks. Overall what I considered to be an expensive disappointed . Won't be going back
