Giggling Squid in Reigate and Banstead

Had a lovely meal here at the weekend. Food was tasty and the service was great. We will be going back again

Went to the Reigate branch for my 40th birthday lunch, even though we had made reservations the wait it was over an hour. We were sat at the window table and it was so cold, the skirting board and floor was filthy. We ordered the crispy squid for a starter, which was mostly greasy panko and the smallest bit of squid you could imagine. For our mains, we ordered a yellow Thai prawn and soft shell crab curry, I specifically asked for it to be mellow. It was not. My whole mouth burned within the first spoonful. My husband who can handle hot spicy food, also could not finish his either. Again, there was hardly any meat and a lot of unrecognisable ingredients which were not nice. It was very disappointing, although the restaurant staff did replace my order with a pad Thai. This was our favourite restaurant and Thai is our favourite food but we won’t be returning in the future.

Popped in as a last minute decision at 5pm on a Friday without booking. They squeezed us in and felt treated like valued customers with amazing service and amazing food. Bill came out to not the cheapest in Reigate but definitely worth the money and would spend a whole lot more for the quality! A very big special thanks to Wit our server and Cristina they made us feel so welcome and like it was having dinner at a friends house! Loved every second and will be back :) again thank you Cristina and Wit, you guys deserve a raise for your personalities!

I have eaten in this restaurant numerous times and always happy with the service and food provided. However today has excelled our expectations the food was absolutely beautiful so much love and care went into the preparation. The service was absolutely flawless aswell the lady who served me called Nang was so accommodating friendly and really couldn't of provided a better service. She is a real asset to this company. Thank you so much. Upon paying a service charge is added to the invoice which I wouldnt even hesitate In paying I actually gave an additional tip as it was a flawless meal and service. If I could of gave 6 stars I would have. Thanks you so much guys see you soon.

First time at Giggling Squid, definitely go again. A menu with a good choice and what we ordered was excellent, and served by friendly staff, all in all an enjoyable experience.

Superb food and great service. Expensive but worth every penny

Staying in the area for work and was recommended this place and was not disappointed. Was absolutely delicious. Can't recommend the prawn and softshell crab curry highly enough.

Super friendly and chatty staff, welcoming and engaging. Food is standard across all venues but was cooked quickly and to order. Resterauntbis hard to navigate, with steep narrow stairs, but that's part of the charm, just be aware if you have any kind of access issues

This evening we paid another visit to Giggling squid in Reigate and once again had outstanding food and service (all of the staff are excellent but Nang stands out for her welcome and sense of humour!). Thanks all, we’ll no doubt see you soon!

Gave me food poisoning! Had chicken satay and lamb shank massamam, could have been either. Will not be going back!

Super starters and main dishes. Service excellent. Nice beers and cocktails. Desserts a bit disappointing and wine rather expensive but everything else fantastic. Restaurant has lots of small rooms so, for a group of 12 or so you've got a good chance of getting an almost private room.

We had a delicious meal here last week. There was 4 of us and we were all really pleased with the meal and the restaurant! The staff were attentive and the food was amazing! Highly Recommended!

I just love Thai food made exceptionally well. Excellent!

We normally like this restaurant very much but this time some of the dishes were not up to the usual standard. The sticky rice was like rock and was inedible and we had to ask for different rice. The new seabass curry dish was overcooked with the fish being very rubbery. The new pork ribs dish stated it came with rice but was not rice I recognised and was just a sprinking of a rice seed. Wish I'd been advised of that as I could have ordered additional rice dish when making my order. Also disappointing that there was no large bottles or Cobra beer and I had to buy two small bottles which costs more. So on the whole not the most satisfying of meals at the Reigate branch. I hope it was just a one off. The staff were very nice as always.

Love this place simply because of the lovely waitress called Nang. She is always so happy, helpful and kind! The food is good too but Nang makes the place 😃

Great tapas for midweek lunch. Wide choice of tapas and reasonably priced.

We had the most delicious meal at Giggling Squid Reigate!!! We shared a lot of starters which were all great (my fave was the duck spring roll) and then prawn pad Thai. Nang took really great care of us!! Can’t wait to go back

We had a 7:30pm booking and the staff were welcoming. The dishes myself and my wife chose were unavailable so, we chose beef dishes. I went for a slow cooked melting beef and she went for another. Both were disappointing. Fatty, average tasting and quite cold, tbh I normally choose chicken curry dishes at giggling squid(Brighton) and this is why. The service was good and the place was clean but, our table was too close to the one next to us and getting up meant asking them to push their chairs in. The cocktails were OK although, one came tasting completely different from the same one that had been ordered before.

Great service, super attentive. The starters were delicious but the Giggling Prawn Pad Tai was so-so.

The food was great 👍 An amazing thai sticky rice and delicious curry. Chicken wings with teriyaki sauce was amazing! The children’s menu had a lot of options (when most restaurants give plain tomato pasta!) The service was good though they did take a long time to bring desserts. Apart from this the way to the toilets were very cramped and hard to get to. Overall it was a nice experience.

Really love Thai so decided to try for lunch. The service was so-so, the staff looked like they didn't really want to be there. They made a mistake with my order, and they re-made my meal but the waiter hasn't said a single word. No sorry, no checkup after if everything was fine. The food was ok, but a bit bland so probably won't be returning.

This was the worst Giggling Squid I've ever been to. The staff were inept, the food was deplorable and one meal was forgotten about. A rude member of staff humiliated the trainee member of staff and was incredibly rude to me, the customer. Don't go here....spend your money elsewhere

All dishes were virtually tasteless, no seasoning and certainly none of the flavours you’d associate with Thailand. The Pad Thai dishes were incredibly greasy and, despite being chicken and prawn, had hardly any of either and were padded out by Tofu. One of the worst Thai meals I’ve ever eaten.

My review now: Absolutely gutted that the giggling squid has really lost its way. Now one of the worst restaurants in Reigate. Extremely greasy food and not much flavour. My review from several years ago: Best restaurant in Reigate (although Buenos Ares gives it a good run for its money - different cuisine). Best Thai food I’ve had in the UK, closest to authentic taste found in Thailand. Full marks.

Expected better food. Starters were incredible, mains were "meh", cocktails delicious, staff were great!

First visit tonight, food was fantastic, service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I had no idea how good this restaurant is but I’m so I know now!

Beautiful place with cosy vibes! Delicious Thai food! Variety on menu is so broad and amazing options! Kids menu was interesting too. We went to celebrate special occasion, staff very friendly, greeted us, we booked in advance online. We were informed of offers on day we went 1 kids meal free. Drinks had buy 1 get 1! Everyone loved it and all left full and happy!

Had the whole of the upstairs to ourselves as the restaurant was empty (it was only 17.30). The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and polite. The food was delicious and came out steaming hot. Will definitely be going back. Thank you!

Food was not to the usual standard in this branch (Berkhamstead & Beaconsfield are the best & have been consistent). A few beverages were not available to order (Thai Gin & Thai Beer) but it’s not all bad, the service was great although I think that was more to free up tables!

Went for a lunchtime meal, and they offer both the lunchtime & evening menus, which would have been great, but many items we tried to order were not available 😒 Waiting staff were not very attentive, and they did not know all of the menu options that were unavailable when they gave us the menus or when they took the order. Some of our party had to re-choose 3× to get something that was available 😢 If this was my first time to a Giggling Squid, I would think twice before trying another. Luckily, I have had better experiences at other branches. Perhaps they were just having an of day 🤔

When we arrived we ordered a mixed starter for 3, it took around 45 minutes until we received our starter and when it arrived it was cold, we advised the server and it was taken back to be changed for a new starter. The new starter arrived and it was our original starters just re-heated. we mentioned this to the server and they admired that it had just been re-heated! We the got our main course and again all of it was cold except for the Phad Thai. The male server served the sticky rice from under his armpit, yes that’s right he carried one pot of rice to our table with it under is armpit. we told him how we were disappointed that he had it under his armpit and he was quite stroppy saying that if we weren’t happy, he would change the rice as there are loads of rice ready on the shelf! We called the Manager over and explained all, he said that he would discount the bill but I advised him that we would only pay for the drinks. It was the most terrible Thai meal we’ve all ever had and I’ve personally eaten in many Giggling Squid restaurants over the years and previously never had a bad meal at Giggling Squid. It was honestly terrible and not dealt with very well at all either! We also had to ask for more drinks many times and they kept forgetting about our drinks.

The best Thai restaurant in South East England! Friendly service, lots of choice on the menu, everything freshly made, cozy with a nice ambiance. Superb! 2 pers. extensive food and a glass of wine: approx. GBP 80 excl. tip

The menu was smaller than evening menu and prices were cheaper but the lamb finished and no roti. The flavour was not the same as at dinner time. Had a good time with friends though. Service was good.

We had a lovely mothers day lunch here, the food was delicious and service was brilliant. The staff were very attentive and decor inside is pretty. Would really recommend.

Always a good experience - food was delicious and not overly expensive, a little quiet (but what do you expect for a Sunday), service was good but with no frills. A solid, reliable choice for an evening chatting to a friend.

Great place, we stopped there as too much traffic on the road and we were surprisingly pleased! Great selection of dishes, very eclectic menu for everyone! Ambiance was really nice as was the service.

I have been to a lot of the Giggling Squids and Reigate didn't let me down. Yummy food, great service and atmosphere. Would recommend their Tunbridge Wells or Kingston restaurants for larger groups as this is one of the smaller restaurants.

If a Thai restaurant can do a good Papaya salad then eat there And the Giggling squid does a great one Enough said

We normally LOVE the food, atmosphere and staff. We had a take out on Monday evening, so perhaps the regular chef was off or seasonal menu changes/absences accounted for the difference? The satay sauce tasted different as did the Chilli/mint leaves sauce along with consistency, little beef in one dish, king prawns were dry in the pad Thai and the noodles and other noodle dish had an overall taste of burnt oil. Things were different and I'd go as far as to say poor. We have had take out before and I know it's not the same as eating in the restaurant but did take that into consideration. I'm hoping this was just a one off, but if there have been changes in the kitchen, .please, please rewind a bit and get back the usual deliciousness that is Giggling Squid. Thanks.

Great service and delicious food. A little cramped so probably not great for large groups but, very quick service and perfect for lunch.

Just not for me. I did not enjoy the food and we were in a room which was really crushed and noisy. It was busy though and obviously popular.

Great restaurant if you like Thai food. We visited the restaurant a few times, the quality of the food is constantly good and the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

One of my favourite restaurants in Reigate. The food is always of excellent quality and it far surpasses similar places in town. The staff are lovely and they have an excellent wine selection - the riesling is my favourite!

Not as good as the last time I was there. The Prosecco was flat and tasteless. The noodles and veg had little flavour. Prawns were nice and so was the jasmine tea. Won't be rushing back, sorry.

Had a lovely time here, the staff were so kind and helpful. The price was a touch on the expensive side but I was worth it. We both got the house favourite sticky chicken and it was delicious. I would recommend getting the noodles with it instead of rice. I’d say you can’t go wrong with Giggling Squid.

MY WIFE, 3-YEAR OLD SON, MOTHER-IN-LAW AND MYSELF JUST FINISHED A MEAL AT THE REIGATE BRANCH. THE FOOD WAS LOVELY, BUT AN INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN MY WIFE TOOK MY SON DOWNSTAIRS FOR THE TOILET. AFTER TRYING TO NEGOTIATE A BIG STEP (THAT WAS UNMARKED AS A POTENTIAL HAZARD), MY SON FELL FLAT ON HIS FACE. AS MY WIFE PICKED HIM UP OFF THE FLOOR AND TOOK HIM BACK UPSTAIRS, SHE HEARD LAUGHING, AND TURNED AROUND AND SAW TWO STAFF MEMBERS IN HYSTERICS ABOUT WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. UPON TELLING THE MANAGER AT THE END OF THE MEAL, THE RESPONSE FROM HER FROM WAS FRANKLY INADEQUATE.I THINK SHE SAID "WE'LL TRAIN THEM BETTER', HOWEVER, I SUGGEST THAT THE MANAGER TAKES A LOOK AT WHO SHE'S HIRING IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE FOOD WAS GREAT, BUT DUE TO THE UNPROFESSIONALISM OF YOUR STAFF, I SHALL NOT BE RETURNING. UNFORTUNATELY, I ALSO FEEL OBLIGED TO TELL ALL OUR OTHER FRIENDS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN TO AVOID TOO. Went with a large group and pre-ordered the food. The general opinion was that the starters were better than the main courses, but maybe we chose badly. Great atmosphere and the staff were very attentive.

Slightly cramoed spacing, service and food good.

It was great! One of the best Thai-Restaurants I visited untill now! I ordered something like "jungle Curry" (not sure about the name) and it's supposed to be spice. I was not disappointed. It was really spice and so damn yummy. The vegetables were really fresh and not overcooked. To drink I had a Cbd infused lemon basil lemonade that was perfectly balanced in taste! The atmosphere was super, staff was really nice and friendly, decorated was nice! I totally loved it all!

Disappointing. I have eaten at other Giggling Squids which I have really enjoyed however I can't recommend the Reigate branch. The decor is to the usual high standard but both the food quality and service fell short of the mark. Not all starters or mains were served at the same time resulting in lengthy waits for all meals to come out. The pad thai had a very unpleasant after taste that lingered and my wife's stir fry was very salty. Other dishes were similarly off the mark. The staff were pleasant and the kitchen clearly very busy however I don't think I will go back as at £25 a head it wasnt up to scratch.

Nice Thai restaurant with pretty good food and service. The restaurant is large so ideal for bigger groups. Lots of choice on the menu. The food was pretty good. Pad Thai was alright, curry was very good and some belly pork starters were fantastic. Bit of a mixed bag.

A very nice restaurant, food was served piping hot and was flavourful. Tasty chicken pad Thai and duck spring rolls were very good, mango drink had a touch too much mint lol.

Delicious food. Best salt & pepper squid I have had and very generous portion. Main beef red curry was amazing, so flavourful 10/10. Will be going back soon!

Lovely food and a very attentive waitress called felicity. Nothing was too much for her, she was very very welcoming and lovely. Oh and the food was good

Absolute rip off. 3 of our main courses were chicken based, they should have gone next door to Nandos and borrowed one. I would estimate there was less then half a breast of chicken in all 3. The sticky chicken my daughter had was just chewy batter strips. £112 for an atrocious meal. Will not be revisiting.

We went for dinner as a family and were served by a very kind and attentive waitress. At the end of the dinner it was very unpleasant to hear the Thai manager rudely scolding the waitress in public for not going quickly, when she served us very well and no one in the dining room complained. Spicy food (nothing out of the world), and I have to say that I was disappointed with the main course “melting beef”. Poor quality meat spiced with sauce and cabbage.

If you want a place to eat where the food isn't that good and you'll have to fight off flys as you eat.. this is the place for you. The food is ok but nothing special and can be easily overlooked for other restaurants in the area. The service wasn't that good to deserve a service fee.

Delivery via Deliveroo. I ordered stir fry with rice, but they forgot the rice. Also ordered pad Thai. Both the stir fry and pad Thai were tasteless, they lacked seasoning and spice. The prawn crackers had more flavour than either main dish. The stir fry was also very watery. Salt and Pepper squid was soggy, not crispy, the batter obviously doesn't travel well. Very poor, would never order from Reigate again. We ate in at Kingston before and it was 10x better. Not what I would expect for £60 for a couple of small starters and what turned out to be small main dishes.

Went for dinner with a friend. Great place, good atmosphere, lovely staff, food was excellent (absolutely bursting with flavour and so many options), reasonable prices, convenient location. Would absolutely recommend!

It is good food (probably my fav Thai in Reigate), but I always feel it could be a bit better (portion size, flavour, use proper thai ingredients please). But it is still pretty good. One gripe I have is that they are very inflexible. I wanted to order egg fried rice instead of jasmine rice (and was happy to pay extra), but it wasn't possible. Seriously???!

We ordered a click and collect for my birthday on Wednesday. It was already when my husband collected it, package really well. We had quite a few different dishes and all were amazing and so tasty. I've told lots of people about how lovely the food was. We will definitely be ordering from giggling Squid again.

I went back to Giggking Squid as their food is really nice, and on my second visit, the food was still delicious, however the service was quite unsatisfactory. I understood whike booking online that they closed at 10.30pm, when I booked a table at 8.30pm. I knew they said to stay for 2 hours. However once we we were there, the food was brought out ok, then everything was don't very rushed! No one asked us for a top up of drinks, or anything else. Once our plates were taken away, we were not even offered a dessert menu as we fancied that, and staff immediately came with a card paying machine. We had to ask to be given a few minutes as we were still sat and chatting. It was around 10.10. We were aware we had to leave by 1030 but we were made to rush out. We turned away staff twice and third time we paid and just left. It was still not 1030. Won't be going back there again!
