Giggling Squid in Reigate and Banstead

This was the first time I had visited giggling squid, we were greeted by Nang, who took us to our table. She gave us ample time to scan the drinks menu whilst we waited for additional friends to arrive. She placed no pressure on us to place orders and her energy was beautiful, it was obvious she enjoyed working there. The food was exquisite and again served in a timely manner. I can not wait to visit again

Delicious food and Nang was an incredible waitress. She was attentive and kind and we felt looked after. She is an asset to the team.

I never write reviews, but I just experienced one of the best meals of my life. Absolutely delicious meal, served on beautiful bowls, presented like works of art on a plate. The lamb shank massaman was wonderful and the starter, one salmon bites, morsels of fish wrapped in individual leaves, were both beautiful to look at and taste. My husband loved his tamarind mushroom salad and chicken and cashew nuts, and the black gins were fabulous too. Wonderful and very friendly service. We drove an hour to get there for our date night!! lt was well worth it!!

It is always a pleasure to visit Giggling Squid Reigate. It is a welcoming place to eat with delicious food. We took advantage of the £10 deal which was Pad Thai and a soft drink. Very good value. I also ordered a side of squid too which is a solid favourite of mine. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a lovely 1 year anniversary dinner here this evening. The food was delicious and the service was great too - Nang was very friendly and attentive the whole evening.

Brilliant restaurant - amazing Thai food, consistent with other giggling squids I’ve been to. Atmosphere is great - cosy and lots of light. Good amount of space on the ground floor and more tables downstairs, as well as a terrace dining area outside. Service was second to none - food and drink came quickly and staff were very friendly and accommodating (Nang was our server and she was brilliant and very cheerful). Would definitely come back again.

Second time I visited Giggling Squid and I’m happy with both food and service at the restaurant in Reigate. We had prawn crackers, then the street food shared starter , generous proportions and perfect for two of us, presented nicely and tasted delicious! My husband had egg fried rice with sticky chicken and both were well presented and tasted divine! I had Jasmine rice and beef red curry (although I did order sticky rice, but it didn’t matter). The rice and curry tasted well together. I’d never had Thai red or green curry, but opted for red and was worried green would be spicier, the red curry was the perfect amount of spice and the flavours in the curry were just amazing! Not too sweet with the coconut and not too much veg. The sticky chicken dipped in the red curry sauce was nice too! We were quite full after dinner but had a mini chocolate melt pudding and mini salted caramel soufflé they were the perfect size, presented nicely and tasted lovely. When I made the booking I made a note it was mine and husband’s 1st wedding anniversary and the staff did a lovely presentation with the puddings to congratulate us, it was such a lovely personal touch!! Overall such a lovely experience and the food was delicious, we would definitely come again!

We walked in to giggling squid Reigate at around 9.40pm, the restaurant's last orders is at 10.30pm. The manager seated us with her welcoming statement... "the kitchen closes at 10.30pm so you must order quickly and all food will come together, starter and mains, understand". My understanding of what the manager was saying was ; we don't really want your custom at this time in the evening so order and eat quickly so me and the staff can go home, understand!! Not the best welcome to any restaurant! She then took our order for starters and repeated that very same line again for a second time. She was so obsessed with us ordering and getting out quickly she got the order wrong and we received the wrong starters! The same was repeated with the mains, ordered by another member of staff who also put through the wrong dish on the till, rushing to get us out of the restaurant so they could go home or on to whatever was more important than running the restaurant! When we said our main was wrong, the kitchen was already closed so they could not replace it. Instead they argued and presented the bill whilst we were still eating with the dish taken off. No offer was made to cook the dish we had ordered and absolutely no chance of dessert! This type of service is sadly becoming normal in chain restaurants like giggling squid. As we finished our mains, staff including the chef were sitting drinking wine and cocktails in the bar next to us, waiting for us to go, showing the customer is no longer king! The food we did get was okay although all the seafood was over cooked, dry and tough and the mussels had no flavour and were luke warm. The whole experience was a real shame, as their Guildford branch put on a good performance when we visited a few months ago. What a let down for the Reigate branch.

Great food but not your local Thai pricing! You can taste the difference though.

Excellent food and very attentive service, despite it being busy. We ordered a couple of starters to share and then both opted for a chicken massaman with sticky rice. Honestly, this curry is my absolute favourite and I highly recommend as Giggling Squid does a good version. Also, really recommend their spring rolls as they have delicious filling. Well worth a visit.

I don't usually give 5 star reviews but this lovely place totally deserves it. Great food, great service and superb friendly staff. Totally recommend the lunch time set meals. Good value, tasty and very satisfying. Good for solo diners. Made to feel very welcome.

Thank you to Nang, who gave us great service and who explained the Thai alphabet and phonics to one of my daughters, who was captivated by it. How about that for cultural exchange? A great place to eat and wholly recommended. Food very similar to Thai street food, but with UK restaurant style presentation.

Excellent! This is how I would describe the Giggling Squid Restaurant Reigate - it’s good and team. The team are always warm and enthusiastic; greeting customers and regulars with passion, making you instantly relaxed and feeling at home. The service is always efficient even at busy times, but you never feel rushed or pressured. You will always be looked after! The food is first class, cooked with love! Truely authentic representing the Thai cuisine to a tee! Portions are sizeable and are delicious - you cannot go wrong here! Big thanks as always to the team (Nang, Christina Kevin and all!)

Even though it was a busy Thursday, owner fitted us in with a smile and gave us a window table. Welcoming, efficient and delicious food.. We will be back!

The food is not authentic Thai. Ordered Thai curry, too sweet and lacking a chilli bite. 6 small prawns in a £15 dush is outrageous

The worst Thai restaurant I have been to. The food was atrocious. Greasy, poor quality and heavy. I felt the staff wanted to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Very disappointing experience.

This restaurant could be amazing as it has a good layout but the poor quality of the food is a massive letdown. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken and prawns and something which was supposed to be tofu. The meal was very greasy and the tofu seemed old. Very disappointed and left it. The cocktail was also not good.

Food 4/5 service 1/5 We walked in and the manager greeted us. Asked if we had allergies or intolerances. I said yes to the second, asked for the menu and was told they don't have a menu but it's done by QR code. Fine, I said, I'll check it out (and I'd already reviewed the menu in advance, and knew what options I had). The manager then demanded, actually demanded, that he know about what it was as "he needs to know". We were then seated and after that, did not see that manager for the rest of the night. I was told to view the allergen menu via their QR code. But the restaurant has no signal and no WiFi. The waitress went to check this, then came back and told us to "select no milk from the menu". Great, but with no signal or WiFi I couldn't access it at all. They struggled to understand that the QR code was sending me to a website. I had viewed the allergen menu earlier, so had a few options I'd seen which were suitable so that worked out. But the restaurant, despite "needing to know my intolerance" was absolutely zero help or care about it. If it was an allergy, I'd have walked out. There was one woman serving a busy restaurant. A few tables left and the waitress spent ages clearing and cleaning tables right next to us long after we'd finished our mains. Having also finished drinks, we had to call her over to ask for the dessert menu. Ten minutes later, we called her over again to ask for the bill. We were close to asking that they remove the service charge from the bill because it was so poor, but it possibly goes to the kitchen so we left it. Let's talk positives! Great food: Starters, all good Chicken satay Duck spring rolls Salmon one bite (a little sickly after 4, the sauce covering the salmon is sickly) Mains Dish not available Lamb massaman Seafood curry, unfortunately fish was very overcooked Ribs, egg rice,.great Salmon Penang, egg rice, great Food overall was great. Service was terrible.

Went to the Reigate branch for my 40th birthday lunch, even though we had made reservations the wait it was over an hour. We were sat at the window table and it was so cold, the skirting board and floor was filthy. We ordered the crispy squid for a starter, which was mostly greasy panko and the smallest bit of squid you could imagine. For our mains, we ordered a yellow Thai prawn and soft shell crab curry, I specifically asked for it to be mellow. It was not. My whole mouth burned within the first spoonful. My husband who can handle hot spicy food, also could not finish his either. Again, there was hardly any meat and a lot of unrecognisable ingredients which were not nice. It was very disappointing, although the restaurant staff did replace my order with a pad Thai. This was our favourite restaurant and Thai is our favourite food but we won’t be returning in the future.

Popped in as a last minute decision at 5pm on a Friday without booking. They squeezed us in and felt treated like valued customers with amazing service and amazing food. Bill came out to not the cheapest in Reigate but definitely worth the money and would spend a whole lot more for the quality! A very big special thanks to Wit our server and Cristina they made us feel so welcome and like it was having dinner at a friends house! Loved every second and will be back :) again thank you Cristina and Wit, you guys deserve a raise for your personalities!

I have eaten in this restaurant numerous times and always happy with the service and food provided. However today has excelled our expectations the food was absolutely beautiful so much love and care went into the preparation. The service was absolutely flawless aswell the lady who served me called Nang was so accommodating friendly and really couldn't of provided a better service. She is a real asset to this company. Thank you so much. Upon paying a service charge is added to the invoice which I wouldnt even hesitate In paying I actually gave an additional tip as it was a flawless meal and service. If I could of gave 6 stars I would have. Thanks you so much guys see you soon.

Staying in the area for work and was recommended this place and was not disappointed. Was absolutely delicious. Can't recommend the prawn and softshell crab curry highly enough.

Super friendly and chatty staff, welcoming and engaging. Food is standard across all venues but was cooked quickly and to order. Resterauntbis hard to navigate, with steep narrow stairs, but that's part of the charm, just be aware if you have any kind of access issues

This evening we paid another visit to Giggling squid in Reigate and once again had outstanding food and service (all of the staff are excellent but Nang stands out for her welcome and sense of humour!). Thanks all, we’ll no doubt see you soon!

Super starters and main dishes. Service excellent. Nice beers and cocktails. Desserts a bit disappointing and wine rather expensive but everything else fantastic. Restaurant has lots of small rooms so, for a group of 12 or so you've got a good chance of getting an almost private room.

We had a delicious meal here last week. There was 4 of us and we were all really pleased with the meal and the restaurant! The staff were attentive and the food was amazing! Highly Recommended!

We normally like this restaurant very much but this time some of the dishes were not up to the usual standard. The sticky rice was like rock and was inedible and we had to ask for different rice. The new seabass curry dish was overcooked with the fish being very rubbery. The new pork ribs dish stated it came with rice but was not rice I recognised and was just a sprinking of a rice seed. Wish I'd been advised of that as I could have ordered additional rice dish when making my order. Also disappointing that there was no large bottles or Cobra beer and I had to buy two small bottles which costs more. So on the whole not the most satisfying of meals at the Reigate branch. I hope it was just a one off. The staff were very nice as always.

Love this place simply because of the lovely waitress called Nang. She is always so happy, helpful and kind! The food is good too but Nang makes the place 😃

We had the most delicious meal at Giggling Squid Reigate!!! We shared a lot of starters which were all great (my fave was the duck spring roll) and then prawn pad Thai. Nang took really great care of us!! Can’t wait to go back

We had a 7:30pm booking and the staff were welcoming. The dishes myself and my wife chose were unavailable so, we chose beef dishes. I went for a slow cooked melting beef and she went for another. Both were disappointing. Fatty, average tasting and quite cold, tbh I normally choose chicken curry dishes at giggling squid(Brighton) and this is why. The service was good and the place was clean but, our table was too close to the one next to us and getting up meant asking them to push their chairs in. The cocktails were OK although, one came tasting completely different from the same one that had been ordered before.

Great service, super attentive. The starters were delicious but the Giggling Prawn Pad Tai was so-so.

The food was great 👍 An amazing thai sticky rice and delicious curry. Chicken wings with teriyaki sauce was amazing! The children’s menu had a lot of options (when most restaurants give plain tomato pasta!) The service was good though they did take a long time to bring desserts. Apart from this the way to the toilets were very cramped and hard to get to. Overall it was a nice experience.

Really love Thai so decided to try for lunch. The service was so-so, the staff looked like they didn't really want to be there. They made a mistake with my order, and they re-made my meal but the waiter hasn't said a single word. No sorry, no checkup after if everything was fine. The food was ok, but a bit bland so probably won't be returning.

This was the worst Giggling Squid I've ever been to. The staff were inept, the food was deplorable and one meal was forgotten about. A rude member of staff humiliated the trainee member of staff and was incredibly rude to me, the customer. Don't go here....spend your money elsewhere

All dishes were virtually tasteless, no seasoning and certainly none of the flavours you’d associate with Thailand. The Pad Thai dishes were incredibly greasy and, despite being chicken and prawn, had hardly any of either and were padded out by Tofu. One of the worst Thai meals I’ve ever eaten.

My review now: Absolutely gutted that the giggling squid has really lost its way. Now one of the worst restaurants in Reigate. Extremely greasy food and not much flavour. My review from several years ago: Best restaurant in Reigate (although Buenos Ares gives it a good run for its money - different cuisine). Best Thai food I’ve had in the UK, closest to authentic taste found in Thailand. Full marks.

Beautiful place with cosy vibes! Delicious Thai food! Variety on menu is so broad and amazing options! Kids menu was interesting too. We went to celebrate special occasion, staff very friendly, greeted us, we booked in advance online. We were informed of offers on day we went 1 kids meal free. Drinks had buy 1 get 1! Everyone loved it and all left full and happy!

Had the whole of the upstairs to ourselves as the restaurant was empty (it was only 17.30). The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and polite. The food was delicious and came out steaming hot. Will definitely be going back. Thank you!

Food was not to the usual standard in this branch (Berkhamstead & Beaconsfield are the best & have been consistent). A few beverages were not available to order (Thai Gin & Thai Beer) but it’s not all bad, the service was great although I think that was more to free up tables!

Went for a lunchtime meal, and they offer both the lunchtime & evening menus, which would have been great, but many items we tried to order were not available 😒 Waiting staff were not very attentive, and they did not know all of the menu options that were unavailable when they gave us the menus or when they took the order. Some of our party had to re-choose 3× to get something that was available 😢 If this was my first time to a Giggling Squid, I would think twice before trying another. Luckily, I have had better experiences at other branches. Perhaps they were just having an of day 🤔

When we arrived we ordered a mixed starter for 3, it took around 45 minutes until we received our starter and when it arrived it was cold, we advised the server and it was taken back to be changed for a new starter. The new starter arrived and it was our original starters just re-heated. we mentioned this to the server and they admired that it had just been re-heated! We the got our main course and again all of it was cold except for the Phad Thai. The male server served the sticky rice from under his armpit, yes that’s right he carried one pot of rice to our table with it under is armpit. we told him how we were disappointed that he had it under his armpit and he was quite stroppy saying that if we weren’t happy, he would change the rice as there are loads of rice ready on the shelf! We called the Manager over and explained all, he said that he would discount the bill but I advised him that we would only pay for the drinks. It was the most terrible Thai meal we’ve all ever had and I’ve personally eaten in many Giggling Squid restaurants over the years and previously never had a bad meal at Giggling Squid. It was honestly terrible and not dealt with very well at all either! We also had to ask for more drinks many times and they kept forgetting about our drinks.

The best Thai restaurant in South East England! Friendly service, lots of choice on the menu, everything freshly made, cozy with a nice ambiance. Superb! 2 pers. extensive food and a glass of wine: approx. GBP 80 excl. tip

The menu was smaller than evening menu and prices were cheaper but the lamb finished and no roti. The flavour was not the same as at dinner time. Had a good time with friends though. Service was good.

Always a good experience - food was delicious and not overly expensive, a little quiet (but what do you expect for a Sunday), service was good but with no frills. A solid, reliable choice for an evening chatting to a friend.

Great place, we stopped there as too much traffic on the road and we were surprisingly pleased! Great selection of dishes, very eclectic menu for everyone! Ambiance was really nice as was the service.

I have been to a lot of the Giggling Squids and Reigate didn't let me down. Yummy food, great service and atmosphere. Would recommend their Tunbridge Wells or Kingston restaurants for larger groups as this is one of the smaller restaurants.
