Great local pub, drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are fantastic! Very welcoming atmosphere and very friendly locals... They don't suffer fools here so feels very comfortable and relaxed.

Had a couple, chilled out place.

As a group of friends we popped in for a drink. We were insulted whilst ordering our drinks, as the bar lady suggested that we smelled of chips - she then retracted the statement when she realised she'd accidently insulted a local couple - who were stood eating chips! We went to play pool - and the bar man promptly followed us to keep an eye out, telling us that the table was a match table only. It might be worth placing a cover over it in future, as people might not then confuse it for a regular pool table - especially with it's 50p coin slot! After playing pool we kindly asked the bar lady if there were any darts we could borrow (to play darts on the lit up dart board!), she was very aggressive in her response, largely due to the fact that lots of people had already asked her that evening - our mind-reading skills were obviously not working. She was mostly upset about previous visitors stealing the darts, but when we offered to leave a deposit...she promptly shouted I my friends face for "telling her how to run her pub"! There was zero need for any of the rude and aggressive behaviours, we were causing no bother or trouble whatsoever. If the pool table and dart board were not available - then a simple sign saying so would save any potential conflicts.

Spotless, well kept with games (pool) etc, juke box n live sports. Nearly forgot... dog friendly 🐶

Can't fault it! Belting pub ran by a great couple in Carol and Paul. Beers Robbies fare but kept well

Went in around midday. Had to wait 10 minutes to get served at the bar as no-one there to serve. When she arrived she was really rude we soon drank up then left. Wouldn't drink here again!

Went in with a friend on Thursday night while out for a Christmas drink. Rather than be welcomed by the staff we had 3 separate members of staff come over to tell us they didn't allow vaping inside, as they could see one of us had a vape on the table. If they had actually paid any attention they would have seen my mate go outside each time he wanted to use it and he never used it inside. Rather than make us feel welcome they obviously felt it more important to push their agenda on vaping inside - even though we didn't! Grumpy bald old landlord walking around like a zombie and old woman behind bar more interested in chatting than serving. Will be avoiding in future.

Visited 19th December 23. Very nice unpretentious pub. Superb pint of Dizzy blonde for a steal at £4 a pint. Great 70s tunes playing. Will definitely return when in macky. A nice find.

I travel all over the country visiting one or two pubs a week. This one, while the beer was lovely has some of the rudest staff I’ve met in 20 years of visiting local real ale pubs. Very likely your experience could be very different, why? Visited previously and was fine. Beer drinker beware.

Always nice to call at this place, cheery welcome and a good selection of ales all appear to be well kept and on top form.

Nicely kept beers, pleasant atmosphere and not overly busy/loud whilst we were there. I'd say the football on big screen is a negative, however, if it were my business and that's what most clients wanted, I'd probably have them too.

Nice little traditional pub. Called here for the first time in over 40 years and it's changed very little. Staff OK, bit slow, but good personality. Decor and seating passable. Will call again next time I'm in Macc.

The George & Dragon is a very welcoming place. Nicely fitted out, real fire, friendly staff. The kind of place where a female can call in on her own, and feel safe. Love it!

Good beer however seems like you are bothering the staff when going to the bar to get served they'd rather sit on the end of the bar on their phone

Paul & Carol are the best hosts and pub landlords you could wish for. Welcoming. Friendly. Hospitable. I recommend the dizzy blonde though all the ales are perfectly kept. Make sure you visit.

Me and my daughter stumbled upon this amazingly lovely pub on a visit to the area, the staff and customers were so friendly, the pub itself has an old court yard as the beer garden smoking area and the building is original and super cosey with the real fire, wish I lived closer for this to be my local will definitely be coming back to the area just for this pub

On a bit of a crawl around Macclesfield and ended up here as one of us was catching a train at the nearby station.Good atmosphere, friendly welcome and a pint of Unicorn.A gang of women were running the pool table but we did get a game in, good fun.

Called in for a nightcap as it's handy from the station and both of us know the landlord and landlady from their days at The Pack Horse. Paul can seem a bit stern but he's alright really!Didn't realise there was a beer 'garden' at the back and we sat outside on one of the picnic tables. Robinsons' ales so I just had a bottled lager.Really good atmosphere, needs some more reviews so I'm happy to support it, definitely one of the best run pubs in the area.

We went to the pub before and after the match made very welcome and a nice pint.

Popped in for pre dinner drinks as our usual haunt, The Jolly Sailor, was rammed. Maybe it was the pay day effect but no seats were to be found.Walked into this pub and the warmth was very welcome. Carol is an excellent landlady and she was all smiles at the bar. We had a couple of bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale and a bottle of wine, all very reasonably priced.I'd definitely include this place on any circuit of Macclesfield pubs.

Got married at Macclesfield Town Hall last Saturday (15.12.18), and went to the George & Dragon after the ceremony. Paul & Carol were amazing. They sorted out the buffet, which was delicious and gave everyone a glass of Prosecco, they worked really hard and kept all our guests happy. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone.

First time in here for many years. Tastefully decorated and clean, friendly environment. Had a glass of wine, chum had a pint. Both were good.

I'd heard that this pub had been 'done up' and as we often visit the Jolly Sailor we thought we'd give it a go.The outside bears no resemblance to the inside that's certainly been 'done up'. We visited in December and it was clean and warm and we felt at home as we played cards on a big table opposite the bar.I know the landlady from The Pack Horse at Broken Cross and I hope they do well. It's a Robinsons pub so not my ideal selection of ales but this is definitely one to include on any pub crawl within the area.

It is what it is. It's a generic pub. Not a great selection of ales (I think they had just one on offer when I visited). Not my kind of place and not sure I'll be back considering the choice nearby. On the positive side, very popular and energetic atmosphere on a Saturday night if that's what you're after! Service was friendly enough too.

Nice traditional public house, recently been updated to a higher standard, Robinson brewery, pool room, darts on one side of the pub, nice seating area to the other side, court yard with seating lovely landlord and lady, keeps their beers to a high standard, all ages of people go into this pub

Situado a un tiro de piedra de la estación de tren este es un pub, sin lujos que le servirá una pinta bien guardado de Robinson. La visita de un almuerzo entre semana, que era muy tranquila, (a unos clientes habituales apuntalen en el bar), pero una cálida bienvenida de la casera cuando entramos en este pub da un buen ambiente. Menú era muy limitado en el día de nuestra visita, pero la carne y la tarta era justo lo que necesitábamos, mientras esperando el tren de regreso a Euston.
