Good views with three footpaths

Lovely park with a small playground and no ice woodland walks. Free parking. No cafe or toilet facilities.

Can't speak for the parking charges BUT it's our go to for a dog walk, entertaining the little children, seeing views of Nottinghamshire (and beyond on a clear day) as well as running and bike riding. The vibe is just right for families to the more serious sports junkies. The cafe is also really good, toilets really clean and staff super friendly.

Loverly country park, good amenities.

There's a selection of walks, over various surfaces, often littered with dog poo for those who want to venture beyond the cafe and play park. Play park is ok, split into two based on age/size appropriate equipment. Cafe isn't always open from recent experience. Free car parking is due to be withdrawn and will become chargeable from April 2025. Suggest avoiding Saturday around 09:00 as Park Eun takes place and about a hundred runners will thunder between the two play areas with compete disregard for any children trying to cross between the play areas. A peg for your nose would also be useful as the longer walks often have a whiff of dog poo hanging on the breeze.

Nicely landscaped park on former colliery site. Great views to the north, east and south. Cafe, toilets and childrens play area on site.

At present the parking charges are voluntry, but it will be £2 at some date in the future, even with the charge the facilities here are very good, nice play areas for the children and good walks.

Very nice park, a good workout walking a lap with the dog with it's hills. The playground areas are great for the kids, a decent cafe, plenty of parking and fantastic views all around

I went on a cold wet day but had a nice little walk.

Took part in the Parkrun on a dank Saturday morning in February, a great country park to run around if you like hills! Footpaths were good, drainage not an issue (due to the hilly nature). Car park was good, free, although a £2 charge is due to be introduced this spring (2025). Good cafe with decent loos. Views from the park are exceptional. For those with tall vehicles, mind the entrance barrier is at 2 metres. I saw one van loose a ladder from it roof on entry!

Spacious park with a great cafe and a place for kids to roam around. Wide view with lots of hills. On your lucky day, you can spot cattles roaming around on the hills.

Lovely place to visit but be aware the cafe may not be open, as I had that experience yesterday Sundays 29 th December, it had closed early than it should have, I was very disappointed, it was a cold day and all of us needed a hot drink to stay warm, so only stayed 30 mins

Visited here for the Saturday morning parkrun. Loads of parking, it's free, but there are drop boxes for a £1 donation. Cafe and toilets at the start and it's a well organised event with a really friendly bunch of marshalls. There were 206 attended, start is a bit slow due to narrow paths but soon thins out when you hit the first hill. Surface is gravel and tarmac, running in trail shoes was fine and helped with it being a bit wet underfoot. This is a fairly hilly run, but loads of folk walking the uphills so you won't be left behind. Was told the views were amazing, but 100 yard visibility due to mist, so will certainly go again in better weather.

Not been to Gedling Country Park in a few years, but I love all the features that are there now that weren’t during my last visit, such as the cafe, toilets, kiddies park, viewing platforms, etc. I’ll definitely be visiting again when the weather is a bit better!

Lovely place for a decent walk with doggos 🐾

I only had a walk down to the cafe for a coffee and cake, but saw some nice looking hot sausage rolls in the hot cabinet so had one of those. It really nice with flakey pastry (sorry about the crumbs on the floor 🥴) and plenty of sausage filling. The coffee was also excellent.

Great views over the local area really well maintained and a lovely place for a walk with a coffee or tea from the cafe. Ample parking with a very small fee.

Beautiful setting. Cafe is run by lovely and friendly staff with a great range of drinks, food and cakes. This is now my regular 😊

So many different routes to take, and all of them great! A nice little play park for the younger ones, and a lovely café. Toilets too which are surprisingly quiet clean!

The playground was so cool, restrooms are near the entrance, so it's pretty easy to find. Dog friendly, there are dogs on leads as well as dogs off leads, which I love. So much room for families to have picnics kids will love it, adults will love it just as much

Nice circular walk with good views over nottinghamshire

Had the pleasure of being shown round here by the Rangers department. It’s a great park with a lot to offer. Well worth a visit.

broke my elbow on my bike because stupid me decided to go fast over a jump and not pull back… had to ride to sainsburys with a fractured elbow and arm

Got a great play park for the kids and a cafe lots of parking and great for dogs walks

Car park height restriction is 2.0m, so this can be restricting for some people. The entrance side of the height restriction entrance barrier was locker op so I had to enter and leave via the entrance.

Nice park for the family, not really a cycling park but you can, small cafe free parking, you see most of Nottingham from top of the hill. Enjoy

Well I've not been here in a while, and considering it was once a pit... its been transformed into an amazing country park, with magnificent views, a great play area for kids, loos and a fantastic little cafe. I'll be back

Cafe is very slow 🐌 I was in there for 35 minutes for a drink and only 3 people in front of me the actual park is good and the walks are brilliant

Excellent location on our door step. The flourishing undergrowth looks spectacular in the summer and winter months. It has developed well over the years

Very informative, fun place. Caters for the young and old alike. Beautiful views right over Licolnshire. Cafe that sells meals, sandwiches, coffee, wine, kids meals and juice. The park is brilliant for all ages. Tree trail for the kids 20p. We will be back again

Ahhh best country park I’ve ever been to!

Often crowded, nice scenery, it has definitely grown into a lovely park. Very hilly park, so I'd recommend going on a cool day as it gets quite hot!

Trees are growing, looking green, nice choice of paths, like the outdoor seating for the cafe

A lovely walk here, beautiful view, on the right day you can see Lincoln cathedral from one of the viewing platform. Theres a toilet and cafe near the carpark with some great views from the seating area.

Lovely place for a walk. Being the old Gedling colliery, it's very hilly. I found it great for rehabilitation after hip replacement. Our dog loves it around there, too. It's really dog friendly with loads of bins. So there's no excuse to not, pick their poo up and bin it. Which all us responsible owners do. The views are great on a clear day. The café is a great place to meet friends and catch up after a walk. Right by the fab kids play park, picnic area and the carpark. There are two large carparks but it can get busy on sunny days.

Arrived with the rain to meet family for 93 year old mother in laws birthday so headed straight to the cafe hoping the rain might stop. Hayley and Charles very helpful and we soon had lunch served. They presented m-i-l with a slice of cake with candle and sang happy birthday to her. Thanks for a memorable visit.

Lovely afternoon spent messing around and walking. Good solid family time. Apparatus for the children are very well kept and there is plenty for the to climb on and explore

Lovely views with notice boards showing you what's in which direction, can even see the sugar factory at Newark on a clear day. Dog friendly and has routes where dogs can be off lead. Some very steep hills which get the leg muscles working. Nice cafe, overly priced as all of these are. The toilets are clean enough and free! There's 2 nice little kids parks which has a younger kids area too.

A great place to stretch for legs, ride your bike or walk the dog. And take a look at mother Swan awaiting the birth of her signets, and dad in waiting helps out too!

Nice place, stunning view 😍 plenty of space to walk even when it's full of people. You can grab coffee and cake there as well some snacks. Big playground for kids all ages. There are plenty of benches or grass space for a blanket and a little picnic.

Nice area to go on different walks. You can see the surrounding area and if it's a clear day you can see the views in quite a distance. Several view points with picture boards to explain the interesting buildings or sites which you might find. Dogs allowed. Several possibilities to rest on the benches along the paths. Area is slightly hilly. Parking nearby possible and the Cafe1899 provides a place to have a drink or something to eat. Play area for kids within view of the terrace outside.

Great place to walk or cycle. Very clean with plenty of wildlife and a great view over parts of the City. Includes a cafe, toilets and a park for the kids.

While away with family we wanted a decent and nice walk to go to, we googled and found Gedling park, great walk round and then stopped for a drink afterwards. Very dog friendly and the views are lovely. Parking is free. Would definitely go back here when in the area again.

Beneath the brambles on the Eastern side of the park were once found 7 rune stones upon which were inscribed the initials of 7 of the 8 clans which first buried the coal upon which this country park was created. These were immediately transferred to a vault 112 metres below Gedling Church. When the 8th rune stone is discovered and united with the other 7 it is so written on the scrolls now stored behing the big hand of the clocktower on the council house in Nottingham slab Square, that the stone lions guarding the Nottingham Council House will rise again and search out the blood of those who do dislike the Borough of Gedling. Until that day, this is rather a pleasant place to be.

Fantastic for dog walking. Great for running or just taking a few hours out of your busy schedule. The car park is free but they do ask for a donation of a pound which isn't too bad at all. The cafe is great as a viewing platform. You can also get food and drinks.

Nice walk round can get a bit busy but plenty of room for,cafe £1.00 in box for parking ,bargain ,helps the upkeep of the park .

Lots of hard standing pathways on various routes. Can get very busy at weekends and especially if there is the Nottinghamshire Westie Walk 😁🐾🐾🐾🐾

Had a quick 45 minute walk here the other day with a friend, this place is a lovely little spot for those who want a nice walk with a little bit of incline, I didn’t go round the whole park just the main circle type of bit, but from what I experienced was some great lovely views from the more high relief areas and a lovely chunk of greenery.

Free car parking, but donation pot on post, great walk clockwise, not too hilly, but anticlockwise may be too steep on 2 slopes. Didn't use cafe.

Lovely place for a walk with or without your dog 🐕 adventure playground for the kids too. The top carpark fills up quickly, so we always park in the lower one near the main entrance. No charge 👍

It's a nice open space. I should imagine it gets busy in the summer but during a spring stroll it was OK. Plenty of dog walkers. The observation stations could do with better sighting boards, maybe an actual photo or image with the locations identified on the image rather than just a description of what can be seen. e.g One point of interest is Lincoln cathedral... over there... somewhere...I could not find it and the view was very clear... I found Gunthorpe Bridge but that was more through local knowledge and deduction rather than seeing it outright. Other than that, an enjoyable way to spend an hour

Lots of walk for different levels of activity. Different view everytime we vist. Ideal for walking, cycling etc. Very clean. Cafe was reasonably priced with limited menu.

Did a Parkrun there. Interesting footpaths. Nice views. Nice it's got good toilets.
