Some constructive criticism: 1-The waitress on Thursday brought us the bill without us asking for it. She also asked if we finished eating when I was still chewing. This made us feel offended. 2-Food was nice but the potato chips were clearly those out of a frozen value pack, which is quite disappointing compared to the price they charge. 3- The serving board was cracked or porous in the middle so the steak juice leaked onto the table. So when the waitress lifted the board, I found a pool of sauce underneath it. Overall, good but I would not come back again.

Love love thus place food perfect and prices are good drunks are expensive but we love it here

Food always good the fig starter is a firm favourite always have the steak always a good size never had a bad piece just a great place to eat

Nipped in for a breakfast and coffee this morning and the staff were very welcoming and polite. Really nice breakfast with thick cut bacon, quality sausages and the coffee tasted great too! Never visited before but will likely book in for another visit now. The phone didn’t stop ringing with bookings, so it’s clearly popular! Thanks to the staff on shift, I had a lovely experience!

Visited Friday night 15/03/24. After being given a voucher for Christmas my husband and I were looking forward to our meal. However the night was spoilt by an over zealous waitress. After being seated the waitress was asked to return after 5 minutes to take our food order, she came back to the table 3 times in the 5 minutes! Throughout the meal she wanted to clear plates and glasses before we had finished. The whole thing was rushed and stressful couldn’t even have a private conversation with my husband! 50 minutes later we left, service was awful, what a shame the food was nice, we will not be returning.

Sara, Tony and the team are exceptional! From the service, to the food and the overall atmosphere - always a fantastic experience whenever I visit Portobello! Whether it’s a coffee and cake during the day or an evening meal they really know the meaning of going above and beyond for guests ❤️

This place is just wonderful. Service was amazing and so attentive service but just enough to have breathing space. We ordered the Diavolo pizza and the chicken fillet della casa, was delicious and the portions were huge. Would recommend and will definitely be returning and going through the rest of the menu.

Amazing little place. The Food is fresh and the staff are friendly. I often come here just for coffee as well for catch ups with family and friends. Fairly priced, and you can park behind the tesco express across the road. Highly recommend.

The customer service here is disappointing. We were over charged twice, no apology made it out to me my mom's fault for not checking the bill. Food was awful, staff need training. Wouldn't go back here ever.

Yesterday was my husband and I silver wedding anniversary, mum came along also, staff are very attentive loving and caring, 3 course meal washed down with wine and pressco, photos taken, and we left with a free bottle of pressco and some gorgeous Italian chocolates, food amazing great time had by all, highly recommended 😋

Fantastic from start to finish, took a punt and just popped in on the off chance they had a table for 2, wish we booked in n advance now, what a restaurant. Amazing food and service, great cocktails and can’t speak highly enough of the place, will be going again very soon and will spread the word to friends and family- thank you for a great night.

This place is a tardis. Far bigger on the inside than it appears. The entrance is wheelchair and buggy accessible. There is a disabled toilet, but there are a couple of steps to go up to the area. Additional toilets are upstairs. The food is amazing! If you want to try real Italian food, then this is THE place to go. A great selection of food that is so tasty and served piping hot. They also serve hot drinks and alcohol that are equally fantastic. Parking is available in a nearby car park or on side roads. However, you will have a short walk to the restaurant. It is well worth the walk.

Food etc is great, but the noise just from people talking is absolutely oppressive. The acoustics really need to be addressed. My ears are ringing and it’s only half capacity. Shame.

This has to be one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Nottingham If not the best. Fabulous atmosphere and wonderful staff. The food was absolutely magnificent. The whole evening was faultless. Definitely recommend….. can’t wait to go back for the king prawn risotto

Been to this restaurant and have used the home delivered service on a number of occasions. The service and quality has always been outstanding. However, last night an order placed via UberEATS was only half delivered, so phoned the restaurant and was told that the other half of the order was still with them. I expected it to be delivered, but no, we were told that they couldn't contact the delivery service and we would have to contact UberEATS to ask for a refund and then reorder. Seriously rubbish service from both the restaurant and UberEATS.

Always received excellent service before, both eating in and from their home delivery service. Last night, however, was seriously poor. Only half of the order was delivered, so we phoned the restaurant and were told that the other half of the order was still there, but they could't arrange to have it delivered as they couldn't contact the delivery company. We were advised to claim our money back through the delivery company and reorder! Seriously, seriously crap service!

Delicious! Been again this evening. Food well cooked, tasty with plenty of choice, served on hot plates, staff fabulous and accommodating, great atmosphere and a good place to meet up with friends.

This placec is a hidden gem. Why have I never been before. The food was cooked fresh to order all homemade. Delicious food will definitely be returning.

Terrible place walked in today the snooty woman asked if we had a reservation this was 5.30 in the afternoon there were 5 of us we said no she said its Friday night love you need to book but I can fit you in for one hour what is this first don't call us love and we're giving you our money to place us between to tables never entering that place again the woman wants a good talking to about hospitality or sacking

A Lovely hidden gem of a place in Carlton. We were a group of 8 friends all our meals were excellent. The quality, taste, freshness, service and atmosphere was 10/10. We will definitely be visiting Tony very soon! Highly Recommend

A little gem of a place, one of those surprises. Been a few times now. Staff are extremely friendly and the food is nice hearty Italian food. It felt wrong but tried a steak which was well cooked.

Great service and food. We easily booked a table on the website and were promptly greeted. Service was excellent- the food was delicious (starter , main and dessert!) with generous portions. We also ordered some cocktails which were also very nice.

ALWAYS a positive experience in Portabello. Visited many times for Breakfast and Evening Meals, with friends and family… I’ve taken friends here that do not living in Nottm, and when I mention I’m going they get very jealous! This is now officially my favourite cafe in Nottingham. The coffee is fresh and strong and the cakes are to die for. I've only tried the lunch time menu, it was excellent . It's so nice to have waitress service who are attentive and welcoming

1st time I've had eggs Benedict and it was lovely. Will definitely be having it again.

I loved the food.Staff were nice as normal toilets clean. Definitely recommend if you haven't been go cheap.

We had heard a number of good reviews about this restaurant and knowing that the proprietor used to own a great Pizzeria in Nottingham so we gave it a try. Unfortunately our experience did not meet our expectation. The food was average at best but the main issue was the service. We were missing cutlery and ask for replacement on 2 occasions, eventually I had to get up and chase down the waiter for the replacement. The same thing happened when I ordered a drink at the table, after 3 times of asking my drink arrived, then out of the blue another one arrived, which I didn’t want. However, on receiving the bill the unwanted drink was included, this was taken off, without argument I must add, but this just demonstrated the shambolic service. It’s unlikely we will visit again.

Got there at 7.40 Ordered by 7. 50 8.10 got poor starter Garlic Bread (Tomato) too runny base not cooked 8.50 no main. Asked and got an apology. 9 .05 Tony personslly apologise, buvk stops with him, told us it would be with us in 5 mins. 9.15 hungry annoyed no food waitress asked to check what we had orrdered. 9.25 still no food decided to leave. Food came as we were being asked to wait again at 9.30. Completely didappointed with service and false promises. Did not stay to eat. We had enough by then. Drove to carlton square got two excellent pizza's in 8 mins at a fraction of the price.

Our friends took us here. They visit regularly. Three of us had the steak one had the king prawn risotto. Very good quality. Risotto cooked perfectly. Filet steaks were really good. Recommended.

We use this restaurant when we visit our daughter and her partner in Nottingham. As our daughter lives on Carlton Road it is only a ten minute walk to the restaurant so we don't have to drive. We have visited the restaurant every three months but this is the first time we have submitted a review, and it is long overdue. We always receive an enthusiastic welcome from Tony, the owner, and are made to feel most welcome as Tony escorts us to our seats. A nominated waiter is allocated to look after us during our meal. The restaurant is a real taste of Italy, with seasonal changes to the menu and the staff are familiar with the menu. We have pre dinner drinks brought to us promptly. Meals are ordered and quality wine selected from the reasonably priced menu. We have never had any problems with the meals or service and it is obvious other diners are equally happy. It is such a pleasure eating at this restaurant and as we leave Tony is there to say goodbye, hoping to see us again. It is a truly pleasurable experience.

One of the best cafes I have been to in Nottingham. The service is unbelievable, the staff are just so friendly, attentive and welcoming. Every member of staff took the time to say hello and made me feel very welcome. Tea was served almost immediately following my order and my breakfast was served within minutes. The breakfast I had (eggs Benedict) was cooked to perfection, pleasing to the eye and was very delicious! The general atmosphere and decor made me feel very relaxed and was a breathe of fresh air from the chaotic world outside. Highly recommended!

We'd heard great things about Portobello, and our experience was as expected. Fantastic service and my sausage casserole was amazing. However, it being an Italian, the music choices need to be compatible in its chic surroundings.

Visited here for the first time a few weeks ago with my niece and were welcomed as if we were family. The staff are so attentive and friendly and made our evening a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food was just so typical of Italy and perfectly cooked and presented. I've been desperate to find an authentic Italian in Nottingham and I'm going to look no further as this is it! Thank you for such a warm welcome- we'll be back!!!

Very busy early evening, warm atmosphere for a wet evening. All staff friendly & professional the chef offered to make a sauce without a particular ingredient which was really appreciated. We had steak and chicken both cooked and presented beautifully. Such a lovely place and will definitely be back.

Best Italian ever! I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing. The staff and owner are so friendly and welcoming. Prices are very reasonable too.

Shared a pizza and was lovely. Toffee cheesecake was amazing. Loved our visit. Lunch is from noon but staff were so brillant and the chef started lunch 30 mins early for us.

We visited on their 2nd night of opening, service was slick and professional. Tony and his team were freindly and attentive without being too in your face. As a family of 4 all having 3 courses we chose quite a range of dishes and they were all delicious and well presented. The smart decor and music created a lovely relaxed atmosphere..overall we had a great time and will definitely be regulars..Just what the area needed!

What can I say. Brilliant, Superb, Fantastic. A group of 30 from the Nottingham Branch of Parkinson's UK attended Portobello on Wednesday 25th January for our annual lunch post Christmas date. Some had dined here before so looked forward to the meal with eager anticipation. For others it was their first visit, how would it go. To a man, or woman, everyone enjoyed the food, the restaurant, the staff. The whole package. There were some doubters before-hand. But, it was a great afternoon. A lot of there members said thanks to J and myself for organising a "wonderful afternoon out" Even the staff and owner complimented us and said how wonderful a group we were. WE WILL BE BACK 1111

Great food and atmosphere, went for Thursday lunch.

My sister, wife and I all came here for a meal. This was our first time visiting. Upon entering we were greeted and seated very professionally and courteously, The atmosphere was very relaxing, not too dark, not too bright. The service from the waitresses was great, with very upper-class feeling treatment, which was not expected in a small eatery. I had a starter of duck arancini, with sweet chilli sauce, these were by far the juiciest, most tender pieces of duck I've ever had, I was honestly so surprised at the tenderness, so 5 stars there! As for my main, I went for the Chicago-style oven-baked, thin-base pizza comprising of chorizo, cheese, chicken and bbq base. It was the perfect texture, a firm crisp around the edges and crust, and a beautiful soft-bread inner dough. Stringy cheese and no conflicting tastes, delicious to the last bite! Overall our meals were beautiful and the staff were very friendly! The price was a little high when I was first browsing, however ... after tasting the food, I can now say the prices were without a doubt justified! Well done staff of portobello!

Great place, great service, friendly efficient staff and fantastic food would recommend to anyone, the only problem is lack of parking at the restaurant itself but there is parking in the surrounding area/streets.

9 out of 10 the only fault was the salad was soggy and not able to eat it. Should have been checked before serving to customers. Apart from that lovely food, drinks and atmosphere.

Welcoming & friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, food delicious & not too expensive, good choice on menu & decent portion sizes. Mid week but still quite busy, some groups quite loud which made it hard to hear each other speak at times, would definitely dine here again

Great little place, not super expensive and clearly well used by locals. Menus were a bit battered but the food spoke for itself. Pizza was the best meal by far.
