Hotel is closed. Had amazing Martinis in the famous bar .

We stayed at the Dukes Hotel with our sons to celebrate Christmas, and had the best time. The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and our boys really were blown away by what they did to make our stay special... Christmas cookies in the room, tea service. Each morning when we left to explore London, the staff took interest in what we were up to for the day. The boys were excited to return and tell them about our day. The bar is delightful and cozy and lives up to the hype. The tea is delicious. We really had the best time with the Dukes Hotel as our homebase to explore London at Christmastime!

This is the classic Martini experience. The best around. Fantastic staff and delicious cocktails.

I've lived in London for more than 20 years, Duke's used to be an institution. A martini in the bar was en essential London moment. Visiting with friends from LA last weekend, I found the experience flat, charmless, over priced (£27.50 for a martini, are we serious?) and the staff disdainful and rude. Hopefully the renovations will rid this one time lovely bar of the rotten and dead wood. There's nothing special here now. It all feels decidedly "Leicester Sq".

My husband and i spent 3 lovely days in this beautiful hotel just before Xmas. We loved it! We were very lucky to visit the famous bar a couple of times and enjoy the fantastic martini, it is truly outstanding! Both the hotel and bar staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. We are planning to come back in November, hopefully the refurbishment work going on at the moment will be completed, i'm looking forward to seeing the improvements!

An amazing hotel in a central location yet quiet and private. The staff are extremely helpful and are always eager to make our stay perfect.

Trading on its dated history! Checked in on Sunday and told the renowned bar was closed but open the following night. We asked if it was ok to visit then and left it with her for around 8pm. The lady at reception took a "preauthorization payment" of £200 which was actually not held as normal but taken from my account immediately. I questioned this and was told it would be credited back if nothing ordered in the bar or restaurant. Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, went to the bar on Monday for the bar manger to demand a reservation number, that the woman who checked us in should have arranged! We left without trying the alleged original martini and was made to feel second class citizens in this £450/night hotel! Very disappointed in the way the bar manager handled the situation, which actually marred the break for our 35th wedding anniversary. We didn't eat in the hotel as we had already made plans weeks in advance. We checked out and after 14 DAYS I had to chase the hotel up for the refund back to my card. If I hadn't of chased the refund it wouldn't have happened! We will not be back!

Dinner on Tuesday the 17th. Food was average. Service was very poor. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but the food took ages. We left without having desert.

Stayed on our wedding night a month ago and I'd made the mistake of not actually booking the hotel (despite being quite sure I had). I tried to check in and when it transpired that I hadn't in actual fact booked a room, the manager (a French man) was exceptionally rude and unnecessarily aggressive towards me inferring I was lying when it was a simple mistake. There were spare rooms and I booked one, which I would not have done if it weren't for the circumstances. After I said "well we don't have to stay here if you have a problem" he backtracked on his rudeness slightly. It was a really uncomfortable way to end our day, made slightly better by a colleague of his meeting us on the stairs and apologising on his behalf. Would never stay here again and very much regret having to part with our money on the night.

I cannot say enough good things about DUKES. What an incredible hotel. I had been to the bar once before, in 2019, for the signature martini, which was incredible in it's own right. I was alone, but the staff took care of me as if I was their most important client, moving me to a better table so I could enjoy the full ambience of the room. As for the hotel, I stayed here in November of 2024 on a trip in which I proposed to my then girlfriend, and let me tell you, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. I informed them of my plan to propose at their Great British Restaurant, and the hotel and restaurant staffs both could not have been better. They made sure everything, and I mean everything, was even more perfect than I ever could have imagined. I want to give a special mention to Sabrina at the front desk, who really ensured that our stay and the proposal were magical and went off without a hitch. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would, in my eyes, there is not a better hotel anywhere in the world.

This place was a dream. Staff was awesome and friendly, Sabrina at the front desk was just excellent and so helpful, and the hotel itself is this gorgeous, perfectly English building. It was everything we could ask for and more.

Very exclusive hotel in the heart of Central London. Ideally placed for the top attractions, including shopping and eating.

We popped in to make some enquires regarding coming for a pre Christmas lunch,the staff were so welcoming & very helpful with our request.. One of the ladies at reception showed us the restaurant which looked lovely...we came back a bit later to have a drink in the bar,which was lovely,bar staff were polite & equally welcoming. Looking forward to returning soon.

It was such a pleasant stay. This hotel is quaint & just a walking distance from the must-see attractions in London. They have a great restaurant, too. The staff are so kind. We were a bit surprised with the turndown service, whereby they tidy up the room to make sure it's ready for evening use. They leave some tasty pastries after that, too.

Rooms are small and cozy. Location is excellent. And the staff is helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It lives up to its five stars. Love Jose at the front desk. He helped make our visit memorable.

We are a couple who come to London regularly and have visited various hotels in the center. Well this year it brought us to Duke. A small, beautiful, neat hotel in the side street off St. James Places/Road. It is clear to every visitor here - such old hotels also have their charm - but you shouldn't expect too much for the price in terms of peace, cleanliness, etc. The staff at DUKES do a good job and do everything they can to ensure a pleasant and well-maintained stay. Amenities for birthdays etc. were also provided with incredible care. We liked to enjoy that. Many thanks and greetings to the entire staff.

What amazing experience. I went to London by myself for 5 days for a wedding. The wedding happen to be at the Dukes Hotel so I decided to stay there. Everything was perfect from the room, to the service, to the food to the wedding! Even the Martini Bar was tremendous. I see why they only allow 2 of them! The best part is it is slightly off the beaten path and there are not too many guests, so it was never crazy there like some other nice city hotels.

Great location hidden in St James, very friendly staff and attentive. Top tip residents can reserve a table in the bar area for drinks, which is very small. So if you don't reserve one, you may not get one! Rooms tied, but the bed was comfortable.

This was a fantastic experience as wanted to go there for so long. Just make sure you get there early for opening or book in advance. Alessandro is a great host and makes the best martinis in the world “fact” cheers Dukes Bar.

Atmosphere is comfortable and well appointed. The menu is good. The food was solid. Pork tenderloin with a side of honey carrots was delicious. Harriett the bartender was a true pro. Attentive, smart and efficient. She will only get better and will no doubt have a solid following for her professional attitude and demeanor.

Service was good. Food was middle of the road honestly. It was pretty dead on a Saturday night except for tourists like us. That’s never a good sign. The mushroom soup with soufflé was the best thing we had. That was delicious. Would of loved to have gotten into the Dukes Bar upstairs but that had an hour wait. So maybe next time.
