GBK - Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Cambridge

Spent £70 on order for delivery only to receive 2 milkshakes. Our entire food order was missing and all the GBK manager could advise is that I contact Uber eats. Absolutely appalling to say the least. This has been a common theme from this restaurant, and is seemingly getting worse. Whether the issue lies with GBK or Uber Eats, GBK could do more to acknowledge the issue, and follow through with mitigating repeat occurrences.

Probs worst place ive ever eaten. Also baby chairs but no baby change? Chips and burgers fully dry.

Nice little shop, nice view of the park behind it. Service was friendly but a bit overwhelmed when it got busier. Burgers were ok, but not a gourmet experience. Likewise the truffle fries.

Lovely evening dinner for my son's 21st birthday. The food was great, the atmosphere lovely and relaxed and our waitress Kat was absolutely lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, and she dealt with orders for 8 of us with aplomb. Thank you for looking after us so well Kat, it was a pleasure to meet you.

Rocket Man soars high, Truffle fries, a humble fall, Service needs a lift. Gourmet Burger Kitchen shines with its Rocket Man burger, a true standout. Truffle fries were decent, but service fell flat. Drinks took 30 minutes, refills even longer. Location near Parker's Piece adds ambiance. Worth another try for the burger, hoping service improves.

A lot of items on the drink menu were not available, the meat of some burgers was burnt, and on top of that, there was no ketchup available as they were waiting for the delivery (yes, burgers and fries are the main menu items and no ketchup, what a joke!). Staff was friendly though. Disappointing meal, not worth going back.

Absolutely horrendous. The restaurant had a strange atmosphere and the staff were hopeless. We sat for 20 mins so decided to order online. We sat for 40 minutes and we could see people around us getting up and leaving. The staff didn’t once apologise or come and ask if we wanted another drink etc- basic service, surely? We could overhear the server saying that their fryer wasn’t working. It was so weird being sat there as workmen walked in and out of the restaurant. Once the burgers were ready, they sat under the heat lamp for 20-25 minutes. My wife mentioned to the server that this was the case, however, she argued and said it was maid fresh! We walked out of the restaurant once we were refunded. One of the worst experiences EVER! Do not go here- go to Honest in the centre of Cambridge.

quite disappointed in this branch as i'm very loyal to gbk and their burgers. first time coming to this branch. ordered two mightys and both were not cooked medium rare as ordered, and looked burn so i re- ordered and it was worse, the bacon was burnt too. if i'm paying nearly 20£ per person, i expect my order to be cooked correctly. onion rings were slightly over cooked too, fries were good. chicken tenders and wings were great. server seemed lazy. big respect to the ealing branch, they always get everything right.

We were seated and given our drinks quickly but soon realised there were quite a few tables waiting for their food - we decided to leave after about 30mins after no service (note the other tables were all leaving and complaining about their undercooked food). The manager was totally useless and took no responsibility, leaving the one server to take all complaints. They were prioritising takeaway orders over the present customers so don’t recommend!!!

The worst service for delivery riders and very disrespectful staff

Should have read the recent reviews- very disappointing experience. Service was very poor despite restaurant being almost empty. After no sign of waiter, I ordered at the till. When food arrived fries were cold and my burger was missing the bacon. After complaining to staff a partial refund was given, but overall I’d give this place a wide berth.

We came in here looking for a nice burger but service was appalling we waited for 45minutes for our food and there were only 3 of us the food was slow to come out and waitress seemed unbothered and rude didn’t even apologise about how long the food took when we asked how long it would be and seemed very moody. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE !

Although I was told I could apply a student discount, I was unable to and had to pay full prices, which already weren't cheap to begin with. All ordering is done through an app which you have to give your email address to in order to 'create an account', which was time-consuming and obviously detracted from the otherwise friendly, personable atmosphere. Food was nice and came pretty quickly, but frustrating re the student discount.

GBK used to be one of our favourite places to eat. I loved the naked burger and salad. Not anymore. The burger itself is nothing special now and what has happened to the salad with pomegranate dressing? Now all you get is lettuce. On the day of our visit there were too few staff. One lovely server trying to do everything except the cooking. Overpriced and disappointing.

Bad experience during our visit to Cambridge. We ordered three burgers and waited long enough to get the orders on the table. Burgers came totally burned and tasted horrible. We complained to the staff and were shocked to hear that the grill was not cleaned which led to burned burgers. We never expected GBK to go so low on quality and customer service. The staff seems to be lacking motivation and were least bothered. Only one chef who was working in the kitchen which increases the turnaround time. Hygiene of the restaurant was also very poor and felt we should have chosen some other restaurant. Would never recommend anyone to visit this GBK restaurant. The management should look into this case specifically to improve the quality of the food they are serving to the customer. Update - Even after sending email to team sharing my concern over the quality of food served, no response received till date. I feel the comment from GBK team on my review was just to show that they really care about their food and customer satisfaction, but no action taken in reality.

Was there on a Sunday night, hoping to get a quick dinner. But I guess that was the wrong day to visit... the staff seemed running behind in term of orders and some of them were steaming away for a while... The young waiter at the counter also prepared the drinks and serve orders... he was quite honest with a few patrons about the wait for food, and apologized so many times that I was actually feeling bad for him. When the food finally came, it was actually not bad at all... so really hope whatever troughs they met that day they could overcome it soon.

The burgers are, by UK standards, very good. On a par with a French Burgerking. We nearly didn't have any, because we were told that we had to order using a QR code which loaded so slowly that we decided to leave. I told the kitchen staff why we were leaving, and they took our order at the till. We paid, returned to our table and had drinks delivered before the menu arrived on my phone. This ordering method does not work unless you have fast free wifi available. I will not be eating at this chain again.

There are no questions about the food, it’s very tasty. But the service, of course, is very lame. Cooking one burger for 40 minutes is not normal. This is not HIDE

Place under the basement, so atmosphere is a bit dark. It is a quiet place though. I have enjoyed the burger, was one of the best I tried

Truffle fries were lovely and the strawberry milkshake was really good too, burger on the otherhand was quite small for cost and slightly overcooked. Quite a few items on menu were unavailable.

Ordered a panko chicken burger which was plain which was requested, and some fries, on just eat I asked for a free drink and they gave a free can of coke! It is pricey but it is worth it, you can taste the quality in it! Find out whoever that gave me that free drink and give them a raise you have a new customer !

Low value for money. Portions dropped massively. Milkshake cup size reduced and it still comes half-empty. It is also flavourless. Not likely to order again

I ordered and two hours later they cancelled without any notification. Usually the service is okay, but when they get so busy they shouldn't be accepting orders if they can't deliver at the time they promise. Another time I had ordered medium rare it arrived burnt. Unacceptable in my opinion.

Booked a table for 13 people to be told the booking was made for the wrong time by the staff and was then told they couldn’t cater for 13 people anyway, even if booked.

We used to go here before the kids and loved the place. Hovever today we arrived early, around 17.30. Ordered 2 adult and 2 kids menus. It took over 30 min to serve us. Then the kids' burgers were both burnt (see picture). We asked for a replacement, which was even more burnt. The waiter said that they had a duty to make sure no raw meat was given to children... We paid 55£ for a bad meal, the children refusing to eat as it tasted of charcoal, and the adult portions had also significantly shrunk too from what we used to have. We will not come back

Gbk in central of Cambridge, busy area. The atmosphere inside is retro style. And of course burgers and fries was delicious as always. But service was slow, after ordering, we was waiting more than half of hour. The good thing is you can order on apps, with all pictures of food.

Rude staff! I was going to order and the chef prompted the staff Ridley to not ake the order then and ask me to wait. Of course I didn't bother to take their services any further and left.

Food was mediocre, tasted good but came out cold. My main gripe is the 'optional service charge' on the app. There is no obvious way of removing this charge. Normally I don't mind giving a tip (there is a chance I would have tipped more if it was actually optional and the service was deserving of it). I really dislike when restaurants adopt this American style, just increase the cost of your burgers instead of surprising me with another coat at the end. The raw materials of the burger do not cost 10-15 quid, I'm paying that much for the service itself, so why are you charging me more? They also didn't have any beers on draught like they have in their menu.

We visited this place about a year ago and it was great that time. Today - total disappointment. We ordered 3 well done burgers and one medium rare. All 4 (including medium rare one!) were burnt. No draft beers today. It was not straightforward to get not ice cold tap water for our baby. First, they told they have only ice cold water, when we asked just a glass from the tap, they told they only have some special water tap with cold water. At the end we asked hot water from coffee machine to mix, that finally worked, but the staff was not able to suggest that without us, unfortunately. When I payed the bill the waitress pushed “ok” on card machine for optional service charge without even asking if I want to pay it. I paid it, but, today did not deserve any service charge to be honest.

‼️Please Read‼️ I'm a GBK fan but 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. I don't know why there are only good reviews, but I'll be honest. Hamburger bread and meat petties were all burned, and chicken tenders came out like stones. When I asked if hamburgers are usually cooked like this, the staff said it was because the kitchen was too hot. He didn't say sorry. He kept saying absurd things. The staff seem to have no manners and I don't know if they're working or not. There are many things I can't order either. I used to like this place, but this branch is so disappointing...in the end I asked the staff to remove the service charge.

I wouldn't eat here if you're a veggie!! Beyond burger patty was dwarfed in comparison to the meat version. About 4 x smaller. Tasted ok though. We tried to 'build your own Burger' but you have to choose a base burger before you start even though it says 'starts from £3.50' so a burger costs you about as much as a small mortgage. (£50 for two people... Which is mental) We did go midweek, so probably should expect everything to be on the menu, but they didn't have a lot. Milkshake was nice though!

Food was very good, cooked to perfection. Service was extremely good, Cole who was our waiter was extremely helpful and tended to us when we needed and gave us excellent service. The food was brought in good time. Overall was a very good experience.

Come here all the time for the beanburgers & this time they didn’t have any. Was offered a fake meat alternative but don’t like meat real or fake. Now starving hangry

I had a really lovely beanie burger and sweet potato fries, would have been nice to see some more veggie options not just vegan. I had to wait quite a while to get served even though it was relatively empty. I also had to send my burger back twice as it was made wrong. Also as its summer holidays and more people/families are having days out, would be nice to have a set deal/offers.

Food here is fresh and delightful. Its only a small building with probably 40 covers. I was Met with a nice cheerful waitress and sat near towards the window, it has a lovely view of the green. I recommend the Taxi Driver Burger! Price was very similar to every resturant overall, a 5/5 for Mr.

I’ve always wanted to have a burger from gourmet burger and I absolutely loved it. It is more than enough for a person in terms of quantity . I couldn’t even finish my burger and the sides were amazing. The customer service was also very good.

Perfectly cooked beef burger, tidy and neat presentation. The waiter, Cole, was charming and helpful. His recommendation of the homeslaw was not misplaced - it is a tasty side and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't like coleslaw! Hoping to be in the area again soon to pay another visit.
