An absolute must visit! Food is fantastic, some of the best steak I've ever eaten, the meat just melts in the mouth, also the ribs just fall from the bone. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looks amazing. We had starters and mains which were faultless and a lovely atmosphere throughout with a great variety of drinks too. Can't wait to visit again soon, highly recommended!!

Thank you, Gauldry Arms, for your takeaways during lockdown. Still serving their restaurant menu, the food is the usual high standard. Every meal I have had has been excellent. I'm hoping the takeaway will become a permanent fixture.

Fourth visit and second meal here. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice pint of beer to start and a lovely merlot with my meal and a lovely scotch to finish with. The haggis fritters and chicken goujons as starters were lovely and the flat iron steaks as mains excellent. A bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit.

With family visiting from Norway, I had no hesitation in recommending The Gauldry based on the great experience we'd had in February. We were the only table eating and were greeted by the noise from a very boisterous karaoke session in the public bar. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu, ordering a variety of starters and main courses. We discussed the beautiful presentation of the meals we had had previously and the delicious hand-cut chips. When the starters arrived, we were shocked at the huge portions but nonetheless tucked in. There was a bit of a wait for all the main courses but we didn't notice too much and there were apologies but no hand-cut chips or the lovely presentation. The chips were pre-packaged skinny fries and the food was just piled on the plates - taking it down to run of the mill pub grub and so much of it that a doggy bag was necessary (the dogs had no complaints). I was disappointed with the food and the noise - had we known about the karaoke, we would have chosen another venue. The staff were friendly so a little consolation.

Great meal, lovely friendly staff. Go hungry as the portions are huge! Dogs allowed on in the public bar, not in the lounge bar, but you can be served food in either bar. Well worth a visit.

An hours walk or 10 mins by car from Newport-on-Tay, this is an absolute gem in the village of Gauldry. This 100% family owned & run pub is a nice spot for a pint with friendly smiles from the family & locals alike, but the real secret is the son/brother who chefs in the kitchen. For £22 for 2 courses or £25 for 3, the cauliflower pakora seemed so unusual I had to try it, and boy was I blown away. The batter was hot and light, cauli texture was sensational & the balance so delicious I knew right away there was a proper experienced chef working hard & quietly on this. Other half had beetroot pasta, which again was so fresh, hearty portioned and worthy of, equal to and better than some fine dining establishments. This place is a proper Scottish Tennants pub with bar and social room as well as the restaurant, welcoming, and affordable, and then there’s the superb food too. We can’t wait to go back, and look forward to seeing Pamela and the family again, and working our way through the menu!

A bit of the beaten track but worth it. If this café was in the city centre, it would be packed out every day! We enjoyed lovely, freshly made sandwiches in a cosy atmosphere and took some delicious cakes home. I hadn’t been for a while but it’s every bit as nice as I remember, we’ll definitely be back.

We didn't stay but went for lunch one Sunday. We booked but several groups turned up without booking and were able to get a table. The menu is the usual pub grub but nicely presented and service was quick. Ae chose the roast beef, meatball and curry with icecream and coffee to follow. All very tasty The welcome and service were frienly and efficient and the dining room light airy and spacious.

What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.
