Gareths Traditional Fish & Chips in Coleraine

The chips were very tasty and a decent quantity. However the chicken fillet burger consisted more of crispy batter than actual chicken. I thought I was going to break my teeth with the amount of crispy batter or else have a heart attack. Amazing chips but let down by the batter. I paid a whooping £10.50 for my chips and battered chicken fillet. I would like to point out however that the business was amazingly clean and spotless and someone was wiping the benches when I was getting served.

Gareth’s (Castlerock Road) standards have completely dropped over the last 6 months - There appears to be a completely new set of staff and it certainly hasn’t been for the better. Chips we received this week were undercooked and raw. Simply not good enough. We have had other issues over the last number of months, with being over charged and orders incorrect when taken home. This used to be my local chippy but I don’t think I can support this business any further - especially the prices they are charged for sub-standard food

This is my local chip shop. I have went here for years. Tonight was the last time I will ever order from here. Standards have dropped so low.

Phoned for a delivery order Opened my bags and half my order was wrong and stuff missing. Called to say and the answer i got was shocking! “She said chips peas and gravy im not fu**king deaf” and was old the missing part of my order was in with the kids meals. Then the driver came back with the miss item and also £10 that I was over charged. To the Woman on the phone you are very rude! Wont be ordering again and I was a good customer!!

Hit and miss, certain staff more interest in talking, the batter on chicken fillet break Ur teeth ffs

Absolutely terrible service, ordered online and didn't receive half our order, they took our money and didn't produce what we ordered which was quite a few quid, fly by night merchant's, when we complained by phone they said they would send out the missing items which needless to say never arrived.. will never give them my custom again...

Will never use again barely edible, order not complete when contacted them did not rectify. Save money eat elsewhere

Absolutely appalling service. Delivery ordered wrong yet again and staff’s attitude is appalling. Older lady very rude everytime in the bush mills road. Food late, cold and items always missing or wrong.

How difficult is it to use fresh lettuce? You’re right beside a shop! Considering current circumstances, it would be better to go above and beyond for the customers supporting you!

Chicken burger was 50% soggy batter. Battered mushrooms were breaded, clearly out of a monster Iceland bag you buy for a quid for 10kg. Chips were soggy mess. Worst chippy I've ever been to. Drove past chequers from benone caravan park in the hope this place would be better. If you're in Benone forget it, not worth the extra miles.

What has happened to Gareth's on the Bushmills Rd? Terrible! The food is disgusting, the chips are barely blanched & potatoes are off, the portions are measly! They're overpriced for awful quality & terrible service. Get it together, Gareth! These people need training or something. Won't be back til sorted.

Awful experience and wont be backTwice now I'm the space of 2 weeks we have received a poor meal from Gareths on the Bushmills Road.Last week we ordered a fish supper and chicken coupon meal. Both came without dips and there was more batter than there was fish.We also tried again last night ordering the same meals and yet again there was no salt or vinegar on either meals. Staff were very ignorant and were cursing and swearing behind the counter that they had to make a lasagne for another customer. This type of behaviour simply isnt acceptable and we will not be eating from this business again!!

What on earth has happened to Gareth's. The fish and chips used to be good here but not any more. The fish was greasy and the chips were fried to within an inch of their lives. The tray that the chips were in was also full of crispy greasy bits of batter, looked like they were the dregs of months of frying. You are going to lose your business Gareth if you don't get staff in that keep the fryers clean and can actually cook. This used to be the 'go to' place for fish and chips in Coleraine but I certainly won't be back! If I could give a minus star I would.

We were working in coleraine for 4weeks and found this place by luck , it is a gem of a chippy . The variety box for lunch time at £4 is a bargain , u get chips , chicken goujon , sausage, chicken wing plus choice of dip , we travel all over the country and eat in 100s of takeaways and this one is excellent value for money plus quality is great and quick service , there’s 6 of us and we were all served within 15mins ,all 6

15 mins for a chip.. Just have been 7 mins before she put chips in fryer.. Took them home & they were rotten. Gave them to the dog

Whoever I just spoke to in Gareth’s Bushmills Road needs to get some sort of personality or professionalism working with customers! Had a “can’t be bothered” attitude and it stunk! On top of that give me a chilli mayo dip instead of garlic. Think some new staff is needed in that place!

Have used this chippie for many years and each time has been excellent. Fantastic traditional fish and chips along with other typical chippie food, this place is very hard to beat. Handy location to the Railway and Bus stations, local pubs and the football stadium all within easy walking distance. Tip: ring and book your order in advance as this place can get very busy. Highly recommended, best chippie in the local area!

My brother uses this place all the time and I went there recently and the place was packed out-good sign I thought. The biggest problem was having to wait over 30mins and the lady at the til looked like she was sucking a lemon; when handing me my change she called me 'son', which was puzzling as I must have 10yrs on her!!Customer service and lack of a waiting area aside, the food was plentiful, reasonably priced and more importantly pretty tasty.

The best fish and chips i have tasted in years. Amazing tasty and very nicely presented. Followed up by a lovely cup of tea. Thank u. Excellent service.

Always get a wee Variety Box here for £3.75, gets you an onion ring, battered sausage, chicken goujon, chicken wing and drumstick with chips and a dip, tastes fantastic, great drunk food!

Called here for a take out meal for four, for two fish suppers and 2 cod it came to £22 - very reasonable and the food was delicious.

Yet again let down, I was told delivery would be 30mins still waiting a 1hr 20 later. On phoning gareths I was told it would be another half an hour. This is not the firstTime this has happened and I cancelled my order. I think the owners need to address their delivery service and stop messing customers about...

I recently ordered for a large group of children and the service was very good. The food was of a high standard and good sized portions. Not one piece of food left.
