Garden House in Islington

Garden House Chinese takeaway in Finsbury Park is located a 3 minute walk from the station. No indoor area to eat (they use to have seating). Looked like half Chinese and Bric-a-back establishment. The same person that served me went out back and cooked up the driest dish imaginable - Vegetarian Singapore Vermicelli😬. I couldn’t finish the dish as at that time I had no liquid and couldn’t stomach anymore. The establishment felt very dated and not help with a large area full of Bric-a-back. Not sure if the items were free to take or selling them. The member of staff was helpful.

Food was lovely, everything was hot and everyone enjoyed the food!

Food was good with big portions, instructions were listened to and food arrived on time hot and received free prawn crackers, as a first time customer the only complaint I have is I was given a bottle of coke that's 3 months out of date, while I know this isn't an issue for some people, but I would just prefer to have everything to a standard and nothing is expired, fizzy drinks really do degrade in taste over time and become flat very easily. But overall I was satisfied and will be ordering again.

Sweet & sour chicken was lovely and the rice was really good! The lemon chicken wasn't necessarily bad, my only issue was that it tasted like pure lemon juice...sourness and all. I tried to persevere through because the chicken was nice but ultimately I couldn't deal with how lemon-y it was and didn't eat most of it. This is likely a personal taste preference rather than the restaurants fault but it could definitely be sweeter maybe. My only problem with the restaurant is the minimum delivery fee, i had to spend £1.50 on extra sauce just for it to meet the minimum. I am only 1 person, and the lemon chicken was already an extra just to bump it closer to the min price, so having to buy sauce I had no use for felt like such a waste. Ideally, I would just have had the rice and sweet and sour chicken, which is why I haven't ordered since. Foods so good but I can't afford to order so much just for 2 things I actually want.

First time trying this Chinese. Food was largely very good (didn’t like the veg spring rolls but everything else we ordered we liked). Delivery time was quite slow but we got a prompt update from the restaurant when asked

Gave us the wrong order . Fair enough they delivered other one but it was already to late . Chicken in the menu says no chilli but it was full of it . Not good at all .

Tasteless. Absolutely tasteless

This was extremely disappointing as we order from here all the time. The driver was 25mins late and on a freezing cold night he was walking slowly from door to door without putting any speed or effort into the fact we were waiting so long and the food would get cold. Very disappointed and as expected the food was Luke warm. I won’t be ordering from here again!!!

Food not very good at all. Ordered a pork with chilli and lemon grass, what i got was a dark, dark non deacript broth with mushy bits of what might have been pork. Prawn toast was dry and tasted like it was missing prawn completely. Never ordering from here again.

Quality, freshness, and good presentation.

I mean don’t really recommend. Definitely cheap for a reason. The only thing with flavour is the sauce but look on the bright side at least it came on time.

I loved this food and prices, ordered special noodles and roast pork dish, very happy with both plus its affordable unlike the other rip off places. You can feel the 30 years of experience in a dish. I will be back :)

Unfortunately the battered prawns tasted funny, so they went in the bin. And the sesame prawn toast had almost zero prawn on it and was just soaked in fat from a deep fat frier. Not good. I don't think I will be returning here, sadly. I say sadly because other orders have been good.

Always have the most delicious food, never order from any other Chinese/Vietnamese, delivery staff are always really nice too!

Good food although spring rolls were burnt.

This is the first time I have ever had to add salt to takeaway that wasn't chips. Its a shame because the delivery was quicker than expected but everything was so bland. The seaweed and the ribs in the mixed starter tasted of nothing and the fried rice lacked flavour as well. Decent portion sizes though.

We have tried a few Chinese takeaways in the area, and this is far and away the best! Wouldnt go anywhere else now.

First time I have ordered from here - the food was delicious and generous ! Ordered Sweet & Sour Prawn Hong Kong style, rice and crispy veg noodles. Only issue was the noodles weren’t crispy - but were tasty

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food - not overly greasy, tasty and generously portioned - from Garden House. I would not recommend this for Vietnamese, as it is a Chinese restaurant, but if you're looking for good quality Chinese food, this is a great option.

As always a fab experience with Garden House takeaway through Just Eat. Delicious food that arrived a sweet three minutes early.

Just awful. By far the worst Chinese I've ever had in my lifetime. Every dish bland and dry as anything, and generally not pleasant. Never thought a Chinese could be this bad. Please just avoid.

The food was horrible no taste at all. We waited an hour for our food to come, we spend £38 and ended up putting the food in the bin, it was that bad. Never again. Extremely disappointed.

Delivery was 45 minutes late however food was absolutely delicious and really fresh. Worth the wait (but will be ordering ahead next time!)

The person who answered the phone was able to quickly and confidently answer all my questions regarding what dishes were safe for my girlfriend, who has a severe garlic allergy (this is not on the standard list, so can be surprisingly difficult for a lot of restaurants). Great servic and food was excellent.

Everything was really good - the chicken balls were fantastic, the king prawn and ginger was really good, all of it was great, apart from the sesame prawn toast - there was precious little prawn, and too much toast, so after it had been deep friend all it tasted like was deep friend toast. It was horrid. So that's why I only gave the meal 4 starts instead of 5.

vegetable chow mein was good, would definitely order that again or a variation of another noodle dish. chilli and lemon grass tofu was interesting, i was expecting it to be a dry stir fry but it came in a sweet rich sauce. i got the lemongrass flavour but found there was a lot of sauce and i found it too rich. There was a lot of tofu and veg in the box, so you do get value for money there. I would try another tofu dish next time. Curry and sweet and sour sauce not the best, the chips were also skinny fries which I wasn't expecting. Wouldn't order these again. Salt and chilli prawns and salt and chilli wings were great, the prawns were big and had a lot of flavour. we did find both these dishes too salty though. Beef in ginger and onion was very good, would order that again. None of the chilli dishes we ordered were spicy, so may have to add a note when ordering next time

Tofu & mixed veg noodles came with plenty of tofu but no veg, just onion, spring onion and bean sprouts. Luckily we ordered a side of broccoli but expected some actual veg in the noodles. Tasted ok but overall very disappointed.

Better than last order/delivery recommend chilli black bean and ginger and spring onion prawns but not the chicken..

The food was good a little greasy (my son is very fussy ) but his empty plate says everything !

Ordered Fried tofu with chilli and lemongrass. Braised tofu with mixed vegetables arrived in a soy sauce. Rang the restaurant to complain and they tried to convince me I had what I ordered - never again

Unfortunately today’s order wasn’t great. Not all items were fresh. Salt and chilli ribs appeared to be very very tiny pieces of chopped up bones. Not what you expect when you order ribs. Didn’t expect to see them chopped up into tiny pieces. The crispy duck was stale and inedible. So hard and crispy, again already chopped up in the container I think to disguise how old it is. Such a shame as we use to be regulars but will think twice when wanting Chinese now.

Overall good food and I would order again. The best dish was the hofun noodles, really tasty. The BBQ pork and rice dish was oddly spicy when I expected it to be BBQ but it was still delicious. I also ordered the BBQ ribs that were okay, but slightly bland. The food was delivered early and was hot when it arrived.

Tough chicken, some pieces were also a very very odd shape, made me uncomfortable eating them as I questioned their authenticity as 'chicken.' All sauces and flavours were good, only the quality of the 'meat' let the meal down.

1 hour and 40 mins from ordering to food arriving...

Food arrived 45 minutes late. Luke warm in areas, warm in other areas. Must have been sat under heat lamp. No apology from restaurant or driver. Was just told by the driver that it is too busy. Very disappointed.

Was supposed to receive delivery by 19:40 did not receive until 2040 did call the restaurant at 20.00 and was told that my food would be with me in 5 to 10 minutes max it took a further 40 minutes until the food arrived finally at 8:40 p.m. wish I could have cancelled the order not very happy felt very poor service will not order from this restaurant again
