Garbo's Cafe Bar in Swansea

Service was average to poor. We weren’t asked about allergies. Glasses were dirty and limited menu. Restaurant was very noisy with drilling and grinding even sparks flying at one point. I didn’t notice the 10% service charge (which I would have asked to be removed) as I had to go to the bar to pay with our waitress being outside having a cigarette! Disappointing for a birthday lunch, poor experience, poor value for money, won’t be returning, but the chips were nice!

Went here a few days ago for my birthday with my family (the WH is also dog friendly so I was also able to bring my dog - added bonus!). We were in a private room (assuming due to being a large number of us), which was so lush, warm by an electric log burner, without feeling closed off from the rest of the restaurant. Food was great. Staff were very polite, friendly, and gave good recommendations. I'd definitely recommend going here

I went to the Welsh House Swansea today for my daughter baby shower and from start to finish it was amazing. We had a separate section which was cut off from the restaurant. We pre ordered the food from the menu in advance so there was no organising on the day. The staff were amazing and made our experience and day perfect. Thank you to all the staff for today.

What a fabulous restaurant. Good food, service amazing. Had the private room for my friends 60th Birthday the staff left me dress the room with flowers pictures etc. We were 16 in total and had a ball. Definitely be back staff were amazing

We were meeting a friend who had arrived from the USA staying at Morgan’s Hotel and had arranged afternoon tea for us at the hotel.Unfortunately he arrived to find they could not provide any food other than breakfast ! After a frantic search to arrange an alternative the Welsh House fitted us in. The afternoon tea experience was top notch as was the service. Thank you to the hostess who was so attentive and professional , you saved the day.

Raz was a great waiter who made sure we were happy with our food and service. Having been let down by a restaurant , we decided to walk to The Welsh house. We were greeted with a front smile. Raz instantly asked us what we would like to drink and made sure we had everything throughout!! All the staff were friendly and helpful. The service was amazing! As well as the lovely food and wine! We will definitely be back!! Thank you

We had booked the hut for our lunch... WAW! What a fabulous experience. We had the fish with some wonderful chunky chips, which were delicious. The white chocolate and morello desert was to absolutely die for. Yes, I can totally recommend the food but the star for excellence has truly been gained by the attentive staff. They were marvellous. Credit to Ruby, Evie and Firdaish for their spontaneous service, clarity, patience, knowledge and warm personalities. Thank you.

Our group of 60 had a fantastic experience for our afternoon at the Welsh House. The food came out promptly for all our tables and there were plenty of delicious choices. Charlie and Theresa were extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely would go back.

Visited 3 July 24 We had a pod which should have been amazing but it wasn’t. Starters were nice. Mains were not as described at all. Leg of lamb was a slice. Belly pork was a pork shop. POD etiquette - 2 members of staff should come out. One person opens the door as they were very heavy doors. One person carried the tray. Tonight we had a tray of wine dropped all over us. ( taken off the bill ) A knife dropped on lap of gentleman. Every time they came to our pod we had to open the door for them. Which is very draining. Not a relaxing meal. Alexa didn’t work, when it did come on it wouldn’t work correctly. Staff seemed very nice but service charge should not been added to the bill automatically when we didn’t get the best service. After our meal we tried to get a coffee at the bar but was told the coffee machine was closed for the day. Icing on the cake really. Marco Pierre white this is not. We won’t be back, and i hope you will take note of my comments as I would hate someone else to go through a night like ours.

It was fine, not that good for vegetarians though. The leek and potato soup was bland, quite tasteless. The superfood salad wasn't very nice. The rest of the group seemed to enjoy and it's a lovely place, but no I wouldn't recommend.

Can't review the food as we left after ten minutes. Nobody to greet us on the way in, a woman shouting about receipts to a colleague next to our sleeping baby, dirty menus, wobbly chairs, no acknowledgement from staff, no atmosphere. Hardly surprising there was nobody else there, should have been a red flag straight away to be honest. Will not be returning in a hurry.

Visited at 9.05am on a Sat morning for breakfast…we were the first through the door. We were greeted by a friendly, chatty staff member, no complaints there. We were informed they didnt have muffins, so couldnt have eggs benedict etc. Ok, thats no biggie. We made our choices and the order taken. It went slightly downhill from there. No caramel syrup for the coffee…not the end of the world! However, the 2 breakfasts eventually arrived at 9.55am!! My sons breakfast didnt have tomatoes on it and the toasts were dry because Chef didnt have any extra butter?? It was then explained that a delivery had not arrived. Other diners were also looking for their breakfasts by now and by 10.15am a couple entered but were told that breakfast was no longer being served, but The Welsh House was open and serving. I think we should all have been turned away because missing items and the long wait wasnt acceptable. My sons ‘tepid’ latte was taken off the bill kindly, but everything else was fully charged for. Needless to say I will not be calling again sadly.

Diablos the only place in Swansea/Gower to have the BEST roast dinner there is no comparison. All the elements within this Sunday dinner is perfected. No extra cost for any extras that you would love with your Sunday Roast!! All dietary requirements are catered for even gluten free! Relaxing vibe and wonderful staff.

We went to Diablos for our friends Christmas party. There was 12 people in total and it was such a lovely night. Diablos was so organised, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and tasty. There was a live singer and he played/sang great. A fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Amazing Sunday Lunch. Everything cooked to perfection. Flavours were delicious. All freshly cooked. We weren’t rushed at all so allowed time for dessert (sticky toffee & apple crumble). Staff were really friendly, easy to park nearby so the whole experience was relaxing. They also had a nice area to sit outside and glass pods if you wanted to eat on there

Went to Diablos for a small wedding party. It was utterly fantastic. The hospitality was amazing and the food was out of this world. The best calamari I’ve ever tasted but all of the food was delicious. I could not recommend this place any more highly.

A great find we had a wonderful breakfast and enjoyed sitting in a pod! Great service and fab value for money.

This was a Father’s Day treat with family. First visit but will be back and our son liked it enough to try and get his friends together for a meal there the following week. It was Sunday, so traditional Sunday Dinner was on the menu, Turkey, Beef, Lamb (with an additional surcharge) and a selection of starters (Prawn cocktail, pate, Panko Chicken were our choices). All great but left no room for desert, so we made a mistake there I think. All credit to the staff who were great from start to finish, friendly and spot on with their service. I got to overhear some other people who were eating there saying how great the staff were and how well they handled the allergies of one of their friends (the chef even came out and explained they had cleaned the kitchen overnight and had modified one of the dishes that day so there was none of the offending ingredients anywhere near the food!). Not a big place so recommend booking ahead.

Visited twice, on a thursday afternoon and a sunday evening, very friendly young lady welcomed us, ordered Mahou beers and she made us a very tasty chicken and bacon ciabatta with fries and coleslaw to share it was very enjoyable, returned for a cocktail again sat outside in the sunshine, enjoyed both our visits :)

We organised a retirement party at Diablo's. We booked the whole place for a Thursday evening, and took it over for our party. The staff were superb - nothing was too much trouble, and they were incredibly welcoming. The food was excellent, with veggie, vegan and gluten free all catered for with ease (and we took a lot away - there was just too much for 35 people to eat!). I cannot recommend Joanna and her team too highly. You will not be disappointed!

During a recent trip to Swansea we searched trip advisor looking for a recommendation and thought we’d give Diablos a go, my husband telephoned to check there was availability and was told no problem, we arrived within 10 minutes of the phone call and was told no room, we explained we had just telephoned and had they just said they didn’t have room,we would have stayed in the city centre and found somewhere else to eat, as it was the river house restaurant opposite received the £80 Diablos lost out on.

Great place for fun singers and food, great atmosphere. They book singers who are really good singers that get the crowd going. Can't but think they want you out after cabretta finishes as music goes terrible.

Visited 8/01/23 Absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch with excellent service, will definitely visit again. Going to visit in the week to see how the week menu compares.

Diablos fitted us in at 2.30 on a Sunday afternoon, they called us back to let us know they had had a no show which was kind. The food was SENSATIONAL. We all had a roast, I am vegetarian and the Welsh rarebit cauliflower steak...

We visited here today as a family of 9 for a Sunday lunch and can honestly say that this is the tastiest Sunday lunch that we have had. The staff were extremely helpful and tentative to our needs. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Diablos

Last minute decision to call for food . What a result!! Greatest Sunday roast we have ever had! Pipping hot and lots of extras. Staff were great and our dog loved it too!! If you don’t go you will never know what you are missing👍👍

We went for a family meal and it was the best meal we’ve had in Swansea!! 3 course Sunday lunch was mind blowing!! The staff and food met every expectation we had! The price was so reasonable for what we had, we will be booking all our future family get together there!

We had the chicken flatbreads for lunch and they were good. We went back for breakfast . The full English was tasty and there was lots of it. The surprise hit was the duck - very good if unusual on a breakfast menu

An odd place that seemed to open at funny times. Goodness knows how it survives as a business. We visited two days running for a Full Welsh Breakfast. This was well cooked, tasty and you received a good portion, and it was a good price.The waitress (a well travelled lass originating from Cork and now settled in Swansea) was very friendly. Probably won’t be back to Swansea so will unlikely get a chance to review any other (non breakfast) aspect of it

We had an excellent lunch here. I had the homemade lasagna and my husband had the chicken in chilli sauce. The salads and homemade coleslaw that came with both meals were delicious, they were really tasty. My only comment would be that the cutlery and condiments were not brought until after our meal, which is a personal bug bear of mine and I think there is no excuse for it. The other observation was that everywhere outside (floors) really did need jet washing down because it did look pretty scruffy.

Me and my friends had the best time at diablos! We had one of the outside pods and it was lovely! We had one of the gin trees which was really good and we their other cocktails were really tasty! Sam who served us from start to finish was just fantastic! We had a brill time :)

Ate here with friends over the May bank holiday and was completely satisfied. My partner and I had the rib of beef Sunday roast which was exceptional. We’d go as far to say that it was one of the best roasts we’ve had in some time. This restaurant and bar is very popular and highly rated on TripAdvisor and deservingly so. Poretti on tap for those who enjoy quality premium lager. Would return.

In 20 years of going out in Swansea I never been blown away as much as I have today. Service, staff, food, setting.. everything was absolutely incredible. Gemma and her team were unbelievable. A special mention to Steve & Sam (with the nose ring) they went above and beyond with their service. Diablos have obviously made the most of lockdown and are genuinely happy to be back at work, you can tell just by looking at them. My friends birthday was made so special, the pods are such a wonderful and exciting experience and even though they give you some privacy you still feel part of the Diablos atmosphere. The speakers to play your own music is such a clever idea! I cannot wait to book and come back again. PS the grilled cheese sandwich is to die for!!! Thank you Diablos for a day/night to remember!!!

Ordered sunday lunch for the Wales and Ireland game it was delivered in good time with easy to read instructions to warm dinner it was tasty full of flavour plenty of gravy loved the concept of everything being conveniently packed and excellent delivery service from gemma who so friendly xx

Well what can I say? The pod experience was amazing! I went with my family for my birthday and the not being able to have a cheeky alcoholic drink with my meal did not make a difference! I had a non alcoholic cocktail and it felt just the same! The Xmas decs, the Xmas music (you can chose your own music) and the lovely heater in the pod made it very cosy and welcoming. The manager Gemma could not do enough for us and the food was outstanding and perfectly cooked. You really need to visit this place and you won't be disappointed if you want that Xmas feeling! So enjoyed!

A superb lunch today in Diablos. We were in our own dining pod .the pod was heated and we had our choice of music. The food was excellent as was the service . If you are in Swansea a must to visit.

Amazing!!! I cannot put into words how blown away I was by my visit to Diablos pods. The food and the staff were incredible. Nicest food I’ve had since, well forever and Gemma and staff couldn’t do enough for us. It was perfect from the minute we arrived. Our own little pod, beautifully decorated, whatever music we liked, little heater and staff that went out their way to cater for our every needs. Anyone thinking the stupid no alcohol rule will ruin their experience could not be more wrong. I too love a G&T most day’s but wasn’t bothered at all due to the vast selection of non alcoholic drinks available and the experience had. I was absolutely overwhelmed by everything. Far exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Even had a little bottle of Prosecco to take home with us which was such an amazing gesture. Already booked to go twice more as I want to take everyone I know to experience Diablos new pods and menu. Thank you for saving my 2020 Christmas fun! can’t wait to come back xxx

What an experience! The pods are amazing, heated and linked up to spotify. The manager, Gemma, couldn't have done enough for us. The food was absolutely incredible, huge portions and perfectly cooked. We cannot wait to return, thank you for making our festive lunch out an amazing experience

Diablos new management and team have done an extremely amazing job since taking over. Gemma the manager is attentive, has great attention to detail and manages her team accordingly. You can see the organisation within the team and that they all work well together. We spent a couple of hours in their new social distancing outside pods. They are a great idea and are very trendy, fitting in with the SA1 trend. We had a fabulous evening, we were warm and cozy, the drinks were flowing thanks to Gemma and the team and we had full control of Spotify... Thank you for making our early Christmas celebrations enjoyable. X

Fantastic evening spent in Diablos new Outdoor Pods. Covid safe dining in style and comfort. Each pod is tastefully decorated complete with fireplace and individual sound system hooked up to Spotify. Our hostess, Gemma, could not have done more. Have already re-booked.

The best Sunday lunch this side of the Severn bridge. Carrots are to die for (I know I wasn’t that excited about carrots before either) and the service and quality of drinks are excellent. A definite recommendation if you are in Swansea.

Me and my partner came here for lunch today, the service was amazing!! I didn’t catch the ladies name but she had blonde hair and was super friendly and attentive. There were covid precautions in place, and we were made to feel safe. The food was honestly amazing, I had the burger with Brie and my partner had the Panko chicken flat bread and both of us couldn’t stop saying how amazing it was! We Will definitely be back, so affordable for such great food and service too! Thank you!:)

We had Sunday lunch yesterday and the food was amazing! There was so much food for the mains, we had starters which was pea soup mmmmmm and my daughter had vegetable and she thoroughly enjoyed it and she is a fussy eater! We also had dessert which was apple crumble and I couldn't finish it as I was so full! If you want a homemade Sunday dinner this is the place! None of this microwaved food, you can taste its freshly cooked. The staff are very friendly too and all covid safe.

Me and my partner went for Sunday lunch and it was the best I’ve had in Swansea by an absolute mile! Staff are lovely also and very helpful, being a chef myself always a critic on food when I go out and eat but this was amazing!! Well worth the visit and will be back again this Sunday.

The cocktails are lovely here and the food is outstanding. Highly recommend the homemade lasagne its divine. Well worth a visit especially as they are now doing food all day. Staff are very friendly which is always a winner.

We started with the chicken goujons which were lovely. For mains I chose beef and hubby the pork. There was plenty of meat and it was tasty and very tender. The meat came on the plate with two small roast potatoes and what I think was a small portion of swede. I had a Yorkshire pudding and hubby some crackling.There was a tureen of broccoli and cauliflower cheese plus a plate of carrots and parsnips. Some peas would have been nice too. Gravy was also tasty.There were only two choices left for dessert neither of which we liked so didn’t bother. The two courses were £17 each so rather expensive. I must say that Covid precautions were excellent. We enjoyed the meal but probably wouldn’t rush back.

My wife and I visited Diablos for a Sunday breakfast. We had the standard breakfast that came with some thick toast which was fantastic. When the food arrived it was lovely and hot, and well worth the price. The staff were great, friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this establishment. Best breakfast in a very long time.

We ordered food off the lovely menu and when the food came it was presented beautifully and tasted so good. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the manager Gemma was very happy and accomodating. Deco in Diablos was really nice too!

My wife and I arrived,and instantly loved the deco,so awesome start. We were then presented with the menu, and I have to be honest, as it was quite limited due to covid19,I thought I wouldn't enjoy anything on there. So when my Panco chicken on flatbread with couscous salad arrived,the presentation was beautifully plated,and as for the food, it was a 10 out of 10 all day. We will be returning very,very soon.

Arrived at 7pm on a Friday evening as it came up well recommended and open on Trip Advisor and we wanted a meal for the family - and were told that the chef went home at 5pm.... What?? I would check before you go!

Had a lovely walk around the marina,as we passed Diablo it looked so inviting we decided to make an impromptu stop, a change from our normal refreshment call and so pleased that we did, we were greeted by Gemma who made us feel so welcome,she has a smile to die for and a personality to match, we ordered drinks whilst looking at a trimmed down menu which was perfect during these uncertain times. My colleague ordered the home made lasagne ( and for once it truly was) I had the breakfast box which was very well cooked and presented It was also nice to see that the chef would pop out serving food if and when the servers were busy, so if you ever find yourself walking around Swansea’s beautiful Marina, stop at Diablo’s and tell Gemma that Jez sent you, you won’t be disappointed

We had a really impressive Sunday lunch today at Diablo’s SA1. Beautifully cooked with plenty of gravy and really tasty veg. Lovely atmosphere and nice relaxed staff.

Went here last weekend for my birthday. Excellent artist singing. Amazing service by all staff. I’ve also had food here a few times and I couldn’t fault it. Everything is perfect.

Yesterday my wife and I planned on eating out but didn't want to visit another boring chain restaurant. We came across Diablo's and popped in for lunch. Highly recommend the place. The staff are friendly and professional and the food was beautiful. Loved the atmosphere and will definitely return.

The staff at diablos are amazing! So friendly and helpful especially with our little one, they always bring us a highchair and will Go out of those way to make her something suitable to eat. Food is lovely and served hot but it’s the staff that make this place So amazing!

Visited with my other half for a valentines meal, instantly as we walked in we fell in love with the decor and atmosphere in the place. Walking up to the bar we were greeted by the staff Ryan and Breddyn who were more than happy to help, added to the friendly vibe and provided great service. The meal was to die for, we tried the sea bass it nearly brought a tear to my eye. The white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake for afters was such a treat to the senses. If you’re a spiced rum fan definitely try the bar recommended red leg pineapple rum. Pricing was certainly suitable based on the experience. A genuine perfect visit even for us visitors to the city.

Visited today for breakfast and it was so good. Lovely staff, decoration and most of all the delicious food.I asked if I could add avocado to my scrambled egg and smoked salmon which was no problem and im glad I did because the avocado was really tasty. Will definitely return because I couldn't fault anything. Great coffee too. Thanks Diablos it was all fab!!

... Visited to watch the rugby, didn’t know they did food. Massively surprised to be presented with an excellent menu and despite having limited choice due to recent surgery I was able to select food that I was able to eat. Bleddyn and the staff could not do enough to advise and help. The food was served very quickly, was very well presented, portioned and delicious!! Shame about the rugby result but the Diablos experience and good atmosphere made up for it. My only question, how do they create such great food and atmosphere in such a small venue. It’s a must visit in Swansea!!!

Stopped by for a Sunday lunch afternoon. We arrived around 12 as breakfast was finishing (which also looked fantastic). I thoroughly enjoyed the veg iteration alternative and the portions were very reasonable; we didn’t finish it all. The selection of meats also looked great. Great value for money. Will be returning.
