Really nice restaurant with good local parking. Feels family run, staff are very warm, friendly, polite and engaging. Food was really nice, and nicely presented. Also the choice of drinks is varied as well. They sing happy birthday loudly which distracts you in your tracks. No complaints here and I would return!

Love eating here, it’s a great place makes me laugh as it feels like “ The Only Way is Banstead” love the food and the little cocktail bar is cool.

Galu has been a firm favourite with lots of my friends and family for years now and always delivers for a special occasion. Amazing atmosphere and service, food is great for what you pay! No festive season is complete without a night out in Galu either. Support independent restaurants over the chains!

Nice place, lovely owners, good food and plenty of it! One thing that spoilt our visit was a big group of people(10), sitting next to us and behaving as if they were the ONLY customers there, despite that the place was full. They were very noisy, shouting across the long table, often in less than polite language. For them it may have been a riot, for us it was unbearable.

Food is OK. Went there for Christmas Dinner. The dessert brownie is a bit dry.

We had booked a Christmas Meal for a large party. Throughout the whole process Galu were helpful and accomodating with changing numbers, even on the night. The food was delicious and it was so well organised. Would defiantly recommend for Christmas, there were so many menu options and it was a party atmosphere. Thank you!

Highly recommended! The staff here are very friendly😊 Also, the mixed grill I ordered had no meaty smell and was really delicious. I will definitely revisit this place again.

The food was nice, but it was let down by the service. Gentleman with the beard was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, he only served the drinks. The older gentleman waiter needs to either find a new job or be retrained. The food was almost thrown at us, with plates overlapping each other, plates removed whilst we were still eating, no smile, he looked genuinely miserable, and this ruined our experience. Not sure if I would come again....

Staff were very professional when it came to ordering and making sure the order was correct but I wouldn’t say they were very friendly or approachable at all(quite miserable to be honest with you) Food was OK/good but way way far too expensive for what you get. £13 for a prawn starter with only 4 king prawns isn’t good value for money. Although they tasted lovely but again definitely not worth the £13. My main was a chicken dish which lacked in flavour so I asked for some gravy to add on it as others who we were with had decided on a roast dinner. After receiving the bill, I couldn’t believe they charged me £2.50 for a tiny and I mean absolute tiny pot of gravy to add to my unflavoured meal. £4 for a small bottle of coke is also a joke and £4 for a few slices of bread as well is shocking. Yes the place is nice but way toooo over priced for what you get as well as overrated as well. Bottom line is, they seem to want to squeeze every little bit of money from their customers as much as they can possibly can. Wouldn’t return as far too expensive as well as overrated too.

*update - I actually visited this restaurant as a child, and found out it was always serving unique Cyprus & Italian platters! Grandparents convinced me the food back then was much better than my most recent experience. Sharing an old photo! Below average and overpriced. Menu was paper stapled together; just seems lazy. Mediterranean or Italian? Staff were friendly enough and accommodating. However, I felt that there is much better quality and value for money elsewhere.

Value is a really nice family run restaurant, good quality food and nice variety. Good wine selection and super friendly staff. If always feels like a lot of the people eating there are regulars. We've never had a bad experience there over many years.

I came here for dinner last night, fantastic tasting food and great portion sizes. I had the halloumi, the Galu burger and the vanilla panna cotta.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The atmosphere was great, and I would recommend booking a table in advance as the venue was busy. The staff were attentive and polite, and couldn’t do more for you. They also do half price steaks on a Tuesday 👍🏻 The only downside I would comment on, is the menu being stapled bits of paper and didn’t look very professional.

I cannot give this place enough praise. Friendly staff, steak Tuesday (of which has 50% off all steak including Tomahawk!) Food was incredibly tasty and the steak presentation was perfect. Pictures speak for themselves.

Very smart restaurant. Good menu with lots of Mediterranean dishes. We ordered scallop starter,liver and bacon, mussels in a cream sauce, and seafood tagalatelli and desserts.Tasty dishes good portions..we enjoyed them. The service was quick and efficient. A smile would have been appreciated. Price was reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. Clean fresh well stocked toilets.

Went for lunch, starter and main very good, looked lovely and portions generous except for dessert which was a bit disappointing as small and not really presented. We would still go back though. Going on the mains we had I think the sunday lunch would be good Looks like it could be a fun place in the evening reading reviews. I felt prices were fine. Didnt really drink on this occasion but drinks menu seemed ok. Just been back, absolutely lovely waiter who was great in making sure my daughter was happy with her menu choice. Overall a good venue, nice friendly staff good food at the right price, place was busy and atmosphere good. I see alot of comments about overpriced food or no kids menu..but I wonder if these people looked up the venue before booking as it's all on their website or Google? We knew they didn't have a kids menu - when we arrived they catered for the kids.. the pricing was all online on the menu so you know what to expect...you also get what you pay for nowadays - want cheap get cheap. Mediterranean is more than just Italian, some need to look at a map and see which countries are in the Med , their menu does reflect this Thank you Galu

Last minute decision to grab Sunday dinner. Restaurant was quiet, so we cannot comment on what the usual atmosphere is like, but for us, at the end of a busy week, it was perfect. The staff are friendly, the service is good and the food was excellent....and hot!! Why other restaurants can't serve food hot, I do not know, but Galu had it spot on 😀

Great restaurant with delicious food and lots of choices on the menu. Unexpectedly found out Tuesday was half price steak and the steak was great.

Hugely overbooked. Waiting more than an hour for our table which was reserved in advance. Table not cleared fast enough and food waited for for a very long time. Lamb ever so chewy. Soft drink ever so diluted. Not ideal. Some staff looked scruffy. They were pleasant but the overall experience not what was expected.

We have takeaways all the time from Galu the food is amazing, we have never had a bad experience. the staff are polite and accommodating to your requirements.

I haven’t been in a while but trust me… this place is the best place to eat in a 5 mile radius! One of my all time favourites!!!!

Visited for the first time for my Mum's birthday with my Aunt. I was certainly not disappointed, the food was divine! I can't wait to go back, certainly worth the 1.5 hour drive!

The drinks are lovely and the Resturant is beautiful. The food was good I’m only giving 4 starts as pasta just needed a hint more cream. Other than that it was lovely

The service and ambience was good , friendly staff but the food was boring. My friend and I came here to discuss business while we have a couple of drinks and some snack. We did not find anything interesting in the starters so we ordered a mixed grill to share. My friend doesn't eat steak so we ordered it without the steak. The staff were good and they asked us if we preferred chicken or lamb instead of steak. So we went for the chicken Souvlaki. The chicken Souvlaki was the most tasteless version I ever had. It tried hard to sense any hint of oregano or garlic or cumin - nothing. It was bland. The lamb cutlets was not any different. It is a nice place to have a couple of drinks.

We had a wonderful anniversary lunch in Galu. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We started with a mini meze for two and our main courses were a lamb Kleftico for me and chicken and lamb Souvlaki for my wife. Everything was cooked to perfection. We highly recommend Galu and we look forward to our next meal there.

firstly I don’t know where to begin the stuff we’re rude and kept stairing at me and my girl mates from the kitchen (we felt very uncomfortable) , then as I processed to ask for more cheese he tipped the WHOLE bowl of cheese on to my pasta !!! Wouldn’t recommend at all !!!!

A great meal tonight, came in at 18:30 and was quite, service was good, food was good and when we left at 19:45 it was packed ! A great sign and half price for steak 🥩 on a Tuesday ! We will be back

I've been to this restaurant once before during the week but Saturday night is something else - party atmosphere, good is amazing, staff are friendly and efficient. I love that you pre-order your food as there is no wasted time and as soon as you sit down, your food comes out. Will definitely be booking another visit very soon for the later seating at 9pm as you can then get up and have a dance!

We took our father for an early Father's Day lunch. The food and service was outstanding. Would recommend.

I love this resturant, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is always great, fresh and reasonably priced. I have been a few times now & have recommended to family and friends. The atmosphere is always great, and the resturant is always busy, proving that it is a great place to eat. This is my favourite go to resturant, and I will return time and time again, and would urge others to try it out as you will not be disappointed!

Hot Tiger Prawns is tiny Prawns. Need to change the name to Prawns. Tiger Prawns are bug disappointing. Starter.came far to quick feltike it was already cooked. Mojito far too much lime and no brown sugar

A great big thank you to Vaz and his wonderful team at Galu. My partner and I found this very special restaurant quite by accident on a random Monday night whilst away from home and the kids and the food, cocktails and service we experienced that evening made our trip even more memorable. The house cocktail is divine and I would quite happily marry the chef. The ambience of restaurant was superb and the art work on display is out of this world. Thank you again and we've already recommended you to friends of ours from Bristol visiting your part of the country

Wow, what a great night. Awesome food, great atmosphere and staff who genuinely care about your experience. Music ramped up later on and there was a lot of dancing around the tables. We laughed a lot !

Flat GnT, shabby menus (stapled computer print outs) with very confused mish mash of Greek and Italian, I think the owner should make his mind up and do less dishes but concentrate on the quality. Average food, but high prices. Far cry from Villa Medici years ago...disappointed

Never heard a bad word said about this place and there's good reason why. I don't often dine out at this pricepoint but as is often the case, paying more means a better experience. Wonderfully attentive service and a nice environment (the only criticism I could level is that a light would turn on and then off on a maybe 10-15 minute cycle, like a very slow strobe light lol). The food was fantastic, had the Cypriot meatballs which were soft, tender and juicy, fillet steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare just as I requested and some divine ice cream/sorbet for dessert. I only drank Coke but my friend had cocktails which she thoroughly enjoyed. Would (and will) gladly visit again in future!

Our daughter wanted to us to eat here as she said that they do perfect steaks, we ordered the meze and T-bone and can honestly say that the food was outstanding as was the service. We will certainly be coming back again soon.

overall had a very bad experience at galu, for the price i would have expected better than printer paper menus. the staff took a very long time to serve even though we were barely at 1/3 capacity, they took plates of food that were still being eaten from away, the staff were unfriendly and unprofessional. we asked for the bill and they took 40 minutes and our prompts to come over to allow us to pay. for the price i expected better.

Go elsewhere, the servers are rude and slow and also pervy, took 40 mins to get our bill and then pay, suggested we hadn't paid our full bill even though they didn't deserve the service charge , food average
