Great vibe about this place and nice place for a meal at any time. I think the food flavourings and options could be a little better. Taste is good but room for improvement.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and it’s an experience worth repeating. Everything we tried was delicious! And the best part it was all halal. We tried the typhoon shelter fried squid dish, which was absolutely perfect. The range of textures in the dish was amazing. Next, we tried the beef dumplings. These little pockets of heaven were packed with juicy, flavorful beef and wrapped in a thin, tender dough. They were perfectly steamed, and the dipping sauce provided just the right amount of tang and heat. Honestly, these dumplings alone are worth a visit! Service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was cosy! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone craving a delightful mix of fresh seafood, flavorful dumplings, and comforting noodle dishes. Definitely going back!

Anniversary Dinner at Gaijin – Was It Worth £200? Dropped close to £200 on dinner in Levenshulme last night. The real question—was it worth it? Let’s break it down. The Hits: • Bao Buns – Absolutely epic, soft, and packed with flavour. But… why the random side of fries? • Lamb on Crack – Fantastic. The lamb itself? Beautifully seasoned, tender, and addictive. The fries? Oddly delicious thanks to that spicy, tangy seasoning. The “salad”? Let’s just say it didn’t get the memo on how to fit in. • Dumplings (boiled & fried) – Easily the best halal dumplings in Manchester. Handmade, generously filled, and packed with flavour. • Dynamite Shrimp – If you love P.F. Chang’s, this is its long-lost twin. Perfectly crispy, with that signature creamy, spicy sauce. The Misses: • Katsu Curry – An absolute disaster. It tasted exactly like chippy curry sauce, and that’s not a compliment. Avoid at all costs. • Nasi Goreng – Just not there yet. Lacked the depth and balance of a proper Nasi Goreng. Beyond the Food: • No Toilets – Seriously? At this price point, you’d expect basic facilities. • Front of House – The Asian lady running the front was inattentive and had way too much to say when I pointed out the Katsu was awful. Newsflash: arguing with customers isn’t hospitality. • The Manager’s Excuse? – Apparently, the Katsu isn’t good because it was “made for white people.” What?! Wagamama caters to everyone and still makes a banging Katsu, so this excuse is nonsense. • Insult to Injury – Being told it’s “not for desis” is just a cop-out. If a dish is bad, it’s bad. Final Thoughts & Advice: • Be strategic if you go. This isn’t Levenshulme pricing, it’s town pricing. • The mains need work. Some dishes shine, but others need a complete recipe rethink. • A Note for the Owner/Chef – Don’t assume your guests haven’t been to the countries where your dishes originate. My family and I have lived in Singapore for five years and traveled extensively across China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia. We know what we’re talking about. • Front of House Needs a Lesson in Hospitality – There’s a fine line between confidence and being ghetto in communication with paying customers. Giving poor excuses for bad food—especially to someone who has actually eaten Katsu in Japan—is just embarrassing. Would I go back? Yes, but only for the dumplings, bao, and shrimp—everything else needs work.

Always have an amazing experience here. High quality food and prices are worth paying.

If you have a desi taste so don’t go there with hopes high. Their dumplings are bit off in taste wise. Dynamite prawns was good. Its worth to try for sake of change. If prices are bit low then I might go again.

The food taste amazing. I can’t find dumplings that beat the ones from Gaijin Dumpling House anywhere else. The lamb on crack was so tender and just fell off the bone. There were also a lot of tasty vegetarian options. The service was also absolutely amazing. Big shout out to Iqra and Tofiq for taking care of me and my friends. We had a very lovely time.

Booked a table, no problem. I had travelled through Storm Darragh that day and was parched. When I arrived, I asked for a coffee. Was told they didn't serve coffee. Of course they didn't. What restaurant serves coffee, for crying out loud? Minus one star for that. Asked for the lamb on crack. Was told lamb was "off". Their Instagram page says its a "signature" dish. One review on YouTube says its "the best lamb dish ever". The lamb was what made this place stand out from the other ten million noodle bars in the area. We went there for the lamb. There was no lamb. There was no warning anywhere on their webpage that the lamb might be off either. Minus two stars for that. I wanted to leave at that point, but my dining companion (my son) said no, there were plenty of other things we could try. Asked for a menu. Was told that the menu was a QR code I had to scan with my phone. If you know how to do this sort of thing, I suppose that would be OK. Or, if this was pointed out on the website, I could have printed off a menu before I came. I'm not brilliant at QR code scanning, but then I am a 70 year old pensioner who expects a menu when they go to a restaurant, not an internet code. I wondered what would have happened if I had no phone, or no son with me, he knows about this sort of thing and saved my bacon (only there was, of course, no bacon). Consequently, minus another star for this. When I did see the menu it was mostly uninteresting variations on chicken and some seafood. Ordered the prawn starter. I concluded from the crunchy bits in my mouth that the prawns still had their shells on. My son tried one, he said there was no shell, so maybe I was unlucky, but throughout that course, I expected shell and it did not make a pleasant eating experience. I then had Noodles Manchurian. The main course. The portion was small, more starter size than main. The noodles no different to noodles I have had in dozens of places the world over. Not as good as many I can think of. Chicken had the texture of frozen chicken that had been reheated, it was very crisp and quite tasteless. I asked for a bottle of water, but was given a mug of tap water instead. The waitress hovered and was annoying. When it came to pay, my son paid. The swipe function did not work so he went to put his card into the machine to verify. Only there was no machine to verify. Just a swipe on a phone. We were told they did not have a verification facility. He tried three cards before one worked. It was very annoying and I wondered what would have happened if none of these swipes had worked. Minus another star for the payment shambles. That was it. I didn't check the bill and my son threw his copy away, we were just glad to get out of the place. Looking at the prices on the web and the amount we were charged. I think we were surcharged for service during this experience. I have a hunch we were charged for tap water too. The bill was £20 more than we were expecting and I cannot think of any other cause of this. All in all, I leave one star because I cannot leave none. It was a dreadful experience, we eat out a lot and this was most definitely one of the worst meals we have had. I was so hungry when I finally got home a few hours later that I cooked myself another dinner. I cannot think of one thing to recommend other than to say the high praise on social media is misleading, don't believe the hype. We do not plan to be repeat customers.

I was recommended this place by a family member and boy it didn’t disappoint! Arrived at the opening time not knowing that Saturdays it’s best to pre book! However, the owenr/chef kindly squeezed us in. Since our arrival the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Love this place and definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester and definitely the best East Asian!! Fire cracker Shrimp - the perfect heat and the most luxurious creamy sauce that lingers after every bite Honey Chilli Wings - WingStop needs to STOP after you have had this. Proper wing sizes and that glaze….ufff 🤫🤤 Nasi Goreng - The freshness in the ingredients and taste feels like your mouth left you and went to Indonesia! And that curry sauce!!?? Wow just wow Steamed Beef Dumplings - this was one of the specials of the day. Errrr more like the dumpling special for life!! The look, the texture, the flavours!! Seriously if you have a sign outside saying ‘The Dumpling House’ you know you have to deliver….trust me when i say the dumplings delivered! I trust all their dumpling fillings will have their unique flavours but as authentic as can be. I’m definitely comeback to try the others. Fish Bao Buns - Another special of the day…perfect pillow buns, perfectly fried fish and salad. All packed with complimentary flavour….no messing about! Again will be be back to try other Bao Bun fillings. Finally that Bundaberg Ginger Beer…out of this world!! Give you the perfect refreshing palate after every sip to reset your taste buds! Perfect drink for the excellent flavours that dance around your mouth. Tofeeq brother i will be back!!

Amazing home made food including the dumplings. Done to a high standard with a broad choice of classic and fusion dishes. They even threw in a complimentary bao bun. Absolutely delicious, will be bringing friends soon.

Fantastic food and even better service. We were talked through the menu by Iqra who explained the different options. We ended up ordering the honey chilli wings, nasi goreng, Mancunian bao bun and dumplings. The food was beautiful and really hit the mark. A special thank you to Iqra for her wonderful service.

Stunning, have walked past so many times and for some reason just never been in, we went for lunch today and I have to say, we were so shocked at how good it was that we feel so stupid for walking past prior to this. Will absolutely go more often, the food was spot on and so was the customer service! Loved it!

The typhoon shelter squid was flavoursome and crispy with the squid being nice and soft. The sweet potato fries were crispy. The cumin chicken had a nice strong kick to it just how I like it. We took some of the food away and it was still delicious heated up. Shame the lambs on crack weren’t ready yet during lunchtime but nonetheless had a fantastic experience. Service was perfect; friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to family and friends that visit Manchester.

The food we had was absolutely amazing and great value for the price. Service was incredible too. Only downside was the music playing, as it didn’t really fit the vibe of a restaurant, more like a h&m!

Amazing food! Came with a friend of the owners and was totally blow away with the quality of the cooking taste and texture !! I had the chicken katsu curry and it was a taste sensation my friend had a prawn dish with was sensational ad well. Highly recommend and when local again will definitely order again 👍 👌

A little disappointed tbh as we had high hopes for this place based on previous reviews. The serting inside is quite nice albeit it very small, but the food did just lack a little. The lamb ribs were nice but the wontons didn't really taste like much. There are other things I would want to try but it's unlikely I'll be back anytime soon to do that.

Amazing hidden spot on the outskirts of city centre. Fantastic starters of typhoon shelter squid - nice garlic aioli paired with the salad Steamed shrimp dumpling - tasty addition, good amount of chew and balanced flavour Honey garlic chicken wings - very moreish, crispy batter soaked in that garlic soy. Lamb on crack - my oh my, the lamb was perfectly spiced with cumin and chilli, good amount of fat left on which rendered down nicely (rice could have done with a little more flavour though) Bao buns - went for the Mancunian and spicy buldak- were nice and fresh, good amount of spice and texture from the panko tenders. Keep smashing it, thoroughly impressed

Had a really nice experience here, the staff were really helpful and had great knowledge of the food they serve, I needed a take out and it did not disappoint. The dumpling are amazing! I got the manchurian chicken noodles, the flavour was amazing, nice sweetness and spiciness, the restaurant is small but really cosy, next time I will have to dine in, definitely recommend this to anyone who likes noodles.

A fantastic place in simple surroundings. A great edition to my old home place, Levenshulme. The food is packed with a great blend of spices. Great portions. We will certainly be back soon.

There has been a lot of hype with one particular dish at this place, the “lamb on crack”. It didn’t live up to the bill and not all it’s cracked up to be 😅 The dumpling dish which I believe was chicken was not the greatest either. However, the starters were amazing ! Dynamite shrimps (they are everywhere yes) and the wings! If I come back I think i will just order starters and lots of them! Service was great too!

Don't listen to any of the bad reviews the food is amazing. The katsu is better than Wagamamas and the dumplings are cooked to perfection. The staff are lovely and give you everything you need. They need to expand and open more locations!

Wonderful experience here. The lamb crack was very succulent and meat literally melts in your mouth and bao buns were fantastic and full of flavour. Highly recommend and will visit again

Chicken dumplings came pink/raw and when I told the waiter about he took it to the kitchen and brought it back saying “it’s the seasoning”. Clearly a lie since 2 of the dumplings were cooked properly and the rest were pink. Couldn’t even eat it since it smelt as well and still got charged for it. Bad service wouldn’t recommend.

Went to try here after the hype and videos online but unfortunately was very underwhelming. The dumplings which I thought was their signature tasted bland and the texture of the meat filling was poor. Bang bang lamb which I also thought was a best seller was super chewy and more cartilage than meat and I don’t think I’ve had rice so separated and watery before. It’s a shame as I came here with high hopes. The only dishes I can recommend are the starters like the popcorn shrimp, squid and the nasi goreng. I also don’t understand why the place doesn’t take card and forces the customer to go to the card machine next door which charges £1 withdrawal? Silver lining was the service which was good.

The place has been recently renovated. The food was filling with the dynamite prawns giving the kick. Had the hash browns with garlic onions topped on it, and it was YUMMY. The best in the whole of Stockport Road. Definitely recommend this place.

Excellent service. I ordered the Firecracker Chicken and the chicken wontons. Because I didn’t want prawns in my dumplings, the restaurant made an extra effort to pan fried chicken dumplings in wonton style. Will surely visit again and try other dishes on the menu 🤩

Food was sooo good and the staff were soooo nice. Personally talked to the chef and he is a great guy! He knows his Asian dishes well with a great deal of experience in the culinary scenes of Hong Kong, the Philippines, and other Asian countries, so this restaurant definitely knows what it's talking about! Would definitely go back here to try their other dishes!

For the first time we went to Gaijin dumpling to he honest we was very welcome and it was there afternoon break time they were about to close. My daughter wanted to eat dumpling take out when I told them they said its fine they will make it for us any other takeaways they say sorry closing time but they said sit down we will make it for you . So nise friendly and so kind people and most of all they gave my daughter the dumplings free I insisted giving mny but they refused. And the dumplings were yummy 😋. Allah bless and reward them in there business. Ameen.

The food is great here, Nasi Lemak was amazing, do was the Mee Goreng Katsu, the honey chilli chicken is incredible. However I think the prices for the dumplings and Bao are too high. It was £13-14 for every bap and dumplings dish, I'd say they are usually £7-10 in the city centre restaurants for dumplings so these are in my opinion overcharging for dumplings. They are nice dumplings but not outstanding so not worth that price.

Some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten. This place isn’t about flashy, expensive decor, it’s just great quality - DELICIOUS - food. And of course the staff were all incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

Went for dinner for the first time after getting recommended. I had the chicken and prawn wontons. We had asked for the food to be spicy and it was exactly what we asked for. The portion size was really good and filling. The vegetable gyoza were ok. The katsu chicken was crispy in the new goreng katsu. It was a good fusion of food. The cheesy chips? we’re also spicy and enjoyable. An overall good experience a nice small cozy location. Good service as well. No long wait. I would go again. Would suggest to book in advance.

Every time I come and bring my kids we all have a great time the chef always asks what they would like to eat and makes them exactly that! On the menu or not! Which makes the travel here worth it. They definitely get spoilt here and the food is always fresh and cooked well! My little boy even got a cheeky chocolate French toast today which was amazing. Thank you so much as always

This is best halal Hong Kong cuisine I have tried. The staff were professional and kind. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is good and cosy. This place deserves a five star rating. They only need to add more seats. The prices were really reasonable. I wish them the best for the future. I’ll definitely come back again.

The food was high quality and delicious. I ordered the noodles Manchurian and I would order it again. It was so hearty. I also ordered the veggie spring rolls which I took home to eat the next day and they still tasted good. I would recommend booking a table as it gets quite busy but the staff were accommodating and friendly and gave me a table within a time limit (I was also by myself). But this place is definitely worth visiting and I will go again to try other parts of the menu. Parking: There is parking on a road called farm side place opposite king karahi and Tawa. It’s free

Tried this place after seeing it on instagram. Have to say I was fairly dissapointed, the food was nice but not very nice and it was expensive! I would expect charges like that at a place which had the overall restaurant experience. The venue was quite dirty, the stairs to go up to use the washroom were filthy and sticky. The glasses we were served water in were cloudy. I understand it's a new business, so they must be setting up slowly, but then prices should also be increased slowly.

Went with a friend for an occasion and the service as always was absolutely amazing! We even received some mojitos on the house! The prawn and chicken wontons were especially delicious as was the rest of our food and the servers were very attentive especially to dietary requirements. Definitely recommend :)

I have never dined in, but my takeaways have always been the best treat on a Friday evening. Chicken/prawn wontons, wings, chicken dumplings Chicken Bao and the firecracker shrimps are delicious!!

Honestly it was scrumptious, I am definitely coming back to try some of the other options on the menu.

Tried Gaajin dumpling house for the first time and I can say it did not disappoint! We ordered the chicken dumplings and wings and everything was DELICIOUS. Came here after a long time and finally decided to write a review. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is very cosy and a great place to enjoy a meal with a loved one. Their portions are very reasonable and one dish is more than enough to fill you up. I absolutely loved the noodles manchuria and their dynamite bao buns were awsome! The service was also great and our waiter made sure we were happy with our meals and refilled our drinks without us asking :)

I hardly ever leave a review however gaijin is an exception and exceptional places deserve all the praise it can get. Not only is the food 10/10 but each member of staff is so attentive and helpful and giving recommendations to what you may or may not like, I haven't been so impressed from a place in along time. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh, I am dreaming of the chicken and prawn dumplings now! 🤤 all the staff were really lovely and friendly too. Although I do think the mie goreng needed a fried egg, would love if they added that! Overall would definitely recommend and will be returning soon ☺️

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Gaijin Dumpling House. Everything about the experience was on point - food was served hot and delicious, service was efficient and welcoming. The menu isn’t extensive but it means Gaijin focuses on doing a few things really well. My only advice is that the restaurant focuses on making some cosmetic improvements. The seating area and general decor could do with a bit more life.

Gentlemen called Abu helped serve us today and provided great service, he was so polite and welcoming. Really enjoyed the food and the service. Would definitely be coming back !

Popped in today to this incredible place for a meal. Absolutely amazing, been a few times and never been disappointed. Food is always spot on. Decent menu to choose from, some absolute mouth watering dishes. The foods suited to everyone, if you’re in the fitness industry like me you will not have to worry a single bit, these brothers have got you covered and will pleasure your tastebuds with some insane flavours. Staff are incredibly friendly and respectful, especially my brother Abu, top lad. Service always a 10/10 can’t complain, been a delightful evening and will definitely come back.

We recently attended gaijin as a group of 8 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The customer service was excellent - we were given free drinks and wings on the house! The food was delicious with bao buns and katsu curry being stand outs. I can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go again!
